Great place to stay, everything is within walking distance (10 min)
Loved the view from our balcony. The shopping and restaurants were great. The staff were so kind and helpful. The bed provided for a great sleep as well. The Christmas Markets were also fun and really get you into the spirit.
Delightful view
The hotel is in a delightful location, we had a balcony room overlooking the old bridge. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was lovely. Access to the hotel with a car is not easy and parking at the train station is expensive.
Location! Excellent for tourists!
Excellent location! We got a balcony and spent few times sipping our coffee, nice views! Recommend if you are just for couple of days due to VERY SMALL ROOMS….
We enjoyed our stay at Des Alpes during our visit to Lucerne. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the staff is multilingual and very friendly. The hotel is conveniently located near the old town, an area with shops and restaurants, riverside next to the chapel bridge and close to the train station. Breakfast is nice although the ticket system suits them more than the guests IMO. Recommend
Very quiet room on the city side of the hotel. Couldn’t ask for a more central location! Cash vouchers were really appreciated for the incredible on-site restaurant.
Great hotel with view of Chapel Bridge
Had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the Chapel Bridge. Breakfast credit given for sit down and order meal ( or equivalent credit for anytime in restaurant including drinks. - we liked this). Great neighborhood and helpful desk staff.
We really enjoyed the property and the area around the hotel! The one thing to improve is the cleanliness for the rooms facing the river or to post notice about these rooms. My wife and I are very sensitive to cigarette smoke, and even though the room was smoking free, the smoke from smokers on ground level was able to get into the room through the window even when it was closed. My wife needed cough medicine because her allergic reaction got very bad. We would return to the hotel at a non river view next time in the future. Other than this, the location is great!
Loved our balcony and wonderful view!
Our stay at Des Alpes was just magical. Although small, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning and dinner one evening. The food was delicious. If ever in Lucern again we will stay at Des Alpes.
room was small but clean and comfortable, I had reserved a room with a balcony but did not receive one. They did give me a breakfast voucher which was nice of the staff, it just covered it. It is a walkable area with historic sites. Not far from the train station and ferry. Overall property was very nice.
Great location, near to everything. Will be back.
Perfect location Staff was amazing. Especially at the restaurant, the wait staff was extremely helpful and nice. Rooms could use a little love. Overall a good experience.
Amazing views, excellent location
Really close to the main train station. Alleyways of shops and restaurants around hotel. The bridge is right there in front of hotel. The restaurant at hotel has great staff for breakfast.
I hope I could stay at Des Alpes again because it was the perfect place for me and my family to enjoy Lucerne. The view from the balcony couldn’t be beat. The food at breakfast was delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The price was reasonable as well.
Amazing Location!
The location can’t be beat! It’s near so many things, including the train station just a 5 minute walk away. Front desk staff was super helpful and friendly.
Great stay. Nice, clean hotel in the center of all the tourist sites. Very convenient to the train station. Parking available nearby at the train station or other public parking.
Magnificent property with a great location on the water and near the train station. Staff is very helpful and having a balcony was wonderful. Highly recommend and would stay again.
Great location and staff.
Phenomenal location, walkable to everything you could want. Room is in acceptable shape, though the shower is nearing its end life. Friendly staff. The location pushes what is probably a 3.5-4 star hotel much higher.
Everything is good
Great property, great views, and very walkable area. Splurge and get the river view. No AC but they have fans
Only negative was the cleaning material left a peculiar odor. No air conditioning but a Dyson fan with open windows cleared the smell. Nice restaurant on site and location was amazing.
A Memorable Visit to Lucerne
We had a beautiful view over Lucerne over Hotel Des Alpes. Our room was very warm but fortunately we had a table fan. An electric kettle for coffee of tea would have been appreciated. The staff was warm and friendly. The hotel restaurant was excellent both for breakfast and for dinner.
Lovely hotel along the lake directly across from covered bridge. Food in dining room was very good but charging for every cup of small coffee in the am is a bit much. I asked for hot water and they were going to charge for that as well. The room was very clean but small. Staff are very nice.
Excellent hotel with superb views of chapel bridge? But no AC so on a 30C day the room on 5th floor was pretty hot. Left both doors to balcony open and fan on and it was doable.
Rooms were small and no air conditioning. Shower very small. Fans were provided and a breeze at night but somewhat noisy if you leave it open. View was stunning. Staff was wonderful.
As I was checking in, another guest was checking out. The receptionist asked him how he had liked the room. He said, "It was hot!" and clearly was angry. The receptionist made no reply. But, he was correct. No air conditioning and the room are hot. If you open the windows, there are no screens to keep out the bugs.
Insulting the price for one night stay in this little outdated room. Totally not recommended. Overpriced.
We had a room overlooking the covered bridge and canal. Very scenic. A deck would have been nice, but I think we would have paid more for a deck. Lucerne is absolutely stunning.
Excellent location!
Excellent hotel on the river overlooking Chapel Bridge. Breakfast is very good with many choices on the menu. The hotel provided vouchers of $18.50 per person that we used for breakfast. The restaurant is on the river level with outside dining option. Best to buy excursions (like boat trips on Lake Lucerne) directly at the pier. The hotel does have an up charge.
Terrible place to stay!
I spent a little extra money to book a top floor romantic room for our 25th anniversary trip 6 months ago. We were hot & tired when we arrived on August 15, 2024 looking forward to a hot shower & cool room. The room was locked up tight. No air conditioning. It was the worst hotel we stayed at the entire 15 day tour. We couldn’t relax, we hardly slept the entire night. I told the young lady at the front desk the next morning what an awful night we had and we wanted to cancel our second night. She was cocky, stuck up, she only cared about the dollar. She couldn’t care less about our discomfort. She absolutely wouldn’t cancel our second night, (because “our website tells you we don’t have air conditioning” (no matter that I booked it 6 months ago!) They’re website certainly did not take the time to explain that the high floors facing south get beat with the hot August sun! This is an awful place to stay during the hot summer months! And awful customer service skills by the hot shot young lady! Disclaimer: There was a senior hostess at the counter when I requested to cancel our second night. She offer me two extra meal vouchers. I do appreciate her effort for customer satisfaction.
Great location
Hôtel was fine but NO air conditioning which I didn’t even think to ask. Was extremely hot and sweaty in the room. Nice thing was the vouchers for breakfast. Location was excellent. Rooms were small. And bathroom was tiny.
Great place in Lucerne
Beautiful settings within old town Great hotel and even better staff Very good breakfast in hotel most of which cost covered by generous hotel voucher Only negative was no air conditioning on hot summer days but that was not available in any out of three very nice hotels we stayed in.
Wonderful location to explore the city. No AC, but they do have fans. Our room had a great view!
The hotel is in the heart of the city and very walkable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was delicious and the vouchers were generous enough to cover a hearty breakfast. But I would encourage anyone considering a stay to head others’ warnings about the hotel temperature. It is *unbearably* hot inside the rooms in the summer. While opening doors is possible, we found that rooms with a bridge view receive direct sunlight and were quite noisy at night. I wished I had booked elsewhere. That being said, I can see how staying here in other seasons would be a comfortable and convenient experience.
If you love spending $300 to stay in a room that is 30 C or 88 degrees F with incredibly rude staff this is the place for you! Staff could not have been more rude - go find somewhere else to stay.
Had a wonderful stay - only downside as a historic hotel, rooms did not have a/c and ours got the afternoon sun.
Location is amazing. If bringing a car, it can be very confusing so call ahead. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was almost intolerable from heat perspective. They have no air conditioning.
Tiny room with poor ventilation
The perfect ending to our swiss vacation. The room was clean and had a balcony overlooking the Chapel Bridge. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. The location is walking distance to the Lion Monument, shops, restaurants and the train station. We were able to leave our luggage after checkout to explore the town.
All good
Great stay
Excellent location! Easy to find after leaving the train station, walking distance to everything. We had excellent meals at the hotel restaurant too. Front desk was very helpful in booking Pilatus tour and even gave us an amazing recommendation for dinner in the new town. No AC in the room but there is a little fan which was helpful. Room was clean and tidy.
They didn't have ac and their fans were inadequate. We had the windows open and were up in the top floor so that helped and didn't get any mosquitoes.
Very nice room! The bed and pillows were wonderful and the bathroom was modern and everything was super clean. In case it makes a difference: the rooms are quite small as are most European hotel rooms, and there's no air conditioning. The room comes with an adjustable Dyson fan, which was perfect. The restaurant has great food, too, although if you choose to sit outside that's where all the smokers sit. There are many people in Europe who smoke and this may annoy American non-smoking travelers. The hotel's location can't be beat- right on the river, just a 2 minute walk to the train station. I will come back in the future!
Fantastic location in the heart of the city. All the staff except the check out lady were super nice and helpful with directions and suggestions for our stay. We ate one dinner at the restaurant and it was fabulous, both food and service. My main complaint is that the bathroom definitely leaves something to be desired. Think cruise ship bathroom. So small my husband could barely turn around in the shower. There is also a lack of air conditioning if that’s important to you, but they did have a plug in fan. Other than that our stay was amazing.
Great location. Restaurant on site is very good
2 nights stay! The hotel was walking distance to transportation. Restaurant downstairs was great and other restaurants around it in the middle of everything. only downside, it was hot they had one baby fan no AC.
The best location in Luzern
Great location and service at front desk and restaurant. We didn’t find A/C in the room and it could be hot especially on a humid summer day.
It’s small and generally average. Good for a one night stay in a central area.
Stay if you’re okay with no air conditioning
THE PROS: We LOVED the location of this hotel. It was a PERFECT location. The staff are outstanding, and the hotel restaurant was phenomenal- the pasta with mountain cheese was the best pasta I’ve ever had, and we just got to Switzerland from Italy, so that’s saying a lot! This hotel also gives you coupons for food, so that saved us a bunch of money. THE CONS: To be honest, it was so hot and hard to sleep without air conditioning and we woke up drenched in sweat every morning. We got an extra fan, but the outlets are so far from the bed that it didn’t quite help. We couldn’t open the windows because there were 3+ massive spider webs out the window, no screens so bugs could get in, and it was loud, so we tried sleeping with ear plugs and eventually slept with the window closed and just struggled. :(. We were there in mid June, and it was only 70 degrees daily, so for perspective it wasn’t super hot out during the day. TO SUMMARIZE: There were a lot of pros. Truthfully, I wouldn’t stay again unless they got AC, but would definitely eat there.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Des Alpes Luzern. The location could not be better in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town on the Reiss River next to the famous Chapel Bridge and 15-minute walk from the train station. Views from the river side are fabulous. The restaurant is very nice and it is especially nice to sit outside viewing the river and beautiful buildings. Breakfast is nice covered by vouchers provided for any meal and the Internet is good. The staff was helpful making suggestions and answering questions to make our exploration of Lucerne even more fun. The rooms are on the smaller side but efficient. There is no air conditioning - could be problematic to sleep comfortably during warmer months.
Des Alpes a no
The hotel was ok located in the center of Lucerne. Our room was stuffy and our city view was of a dirty building. Noisy so difficult to keep the window open at night. Definitely get a room facing the lake but they can book up 6 plus months in advance. I wouldn’t stay here again as I found nicer hotels. Breakfast was good and most staff friendly.
Te location of the property is good as it is in the center of things but the property itself is ok, not that great
Amazing
Great location and nice hotel room.
We stayed here our last night in Switzerland and it was truly a memorable experience! The staff at the reception desk were welcoming and helpful. The location by the iconic wooden bridge was perfectly beautiful! The room was lovely with a great bed. Our dinner in the restaurant was exceptional. I highly recommend Hotel Des Alps.
Wonderful
Wonderful
Très belle place. Bien située
Nice beautiful comfortable hotel
Great service, beautiful cozy room and incredible location.
Great hotel and staff! Very clean and friendly place. In the heart of town.
2nd Lucern Visit
Nice stay in your hotel and thank you for the complimentary breakfast and the view from our room is very nice.
It was an extremely convenient location with walkability to everything we wanted to do and see. Great location, staff was very friendly.
Great stay in the best location
Great location and beautiful old building overlooking the lake. So close to everything walkable in the perfect part of town
Excellent location. Everything was as shown when we selected it. No unpleasant surprises.
The hotel was okay.
The hotel was fine, it just felt like a bit of a tourist trap. Also, be aware that a "queen size" mattress does not fit two people, according to the staff. As I was checking in, the couple next to me had this problem and had to book a more expensive room. According to the staff member, queen size in Switzerland is smaller than in most of the rest of the world.
Location was great, room okay, service good
Old world charm.
Incredible views out our window to the old town. water, bridge, close to everything
Average rooms
Location, location, location!! Add to that a lovely facility and wonderful staff, and you have a perfect hotel experience!!
Wonderful
The view, rooms, staff, and restaurant outstanding.
You will not find a better view for this price. The room was cozy and the balcony made it even more wonderful.
Location, Clean and Friendly
Loved this hotel for it's cleanliness, service, friendliness and location. The bed was not very comfortable but all in all in was a great place.
River views and dreams.
Really had a wonderful stay here. Its location is right in the center of town. The views from the hotel are awesome! The staff was great and the building is really cool. The in house restaurant is really good as well. Being next to the river is a plus.
We checked in around 8:30pm. There was just one person who was bar tending as well as checking guests in. The guy was polite, helpful and friendly however really surprised that the hotel only had one staff member doing so much. Right after check in, we had dinner in the main dining hall by the water. The waitress in the main dining area was absolutely horrendous. Unprofessional and rude. There was no hotel parking. We had to park in public parking about 10 mins away.
View from the room was excellent and the staff was very friendly.
Excellent hotel for our stay in Lucerne. Excellent location right on the river and the Chapel Bridge. Very walkable area with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and area attractions. We easily walked along Lake Lucerne and then on yo the Sleeping Lion monument. We really enjoyed the restaurant downstairs for breakfast and a dinner. Food was excellent with a great view of the river and bridge while we dined. The staff was very friendly and provided us with a few extra restaurant credit vouchers when we checked in which we used for dinner on our last night. The only downside is the lack of parking. There are several public parking options nearby including the train station and under the Hotel Schweizerhof. Be forewarned—the parking runs on the expensive side with 24 hour rates at around $65. Highly recommend this property..
Had a pleasant stay! Highly recommended!
Great location with a view. Easy walk from train station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given vouchers to use at the restaurant for breakfast but chose to use all our vouchers toward a dinner - best choice as the dinner was great. Hotel room, service and food was perfect.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Des Alps Luzern. Clean, quiet room in a perfect location close to the train station, restaurants, and shopping. Staff were very kind and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!
This hotel has a beautiful view of the river and the city of Lucerne. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Location is conveniently located near the train station.
One to ten this hotel is a 2.5
Very old and multiple floor place and furniture is not stylish nor fit the room
Perfect location in the heart of Lucerne. Walking distance to the train station and all major attractions in the city. Parking garage very close by which was convenient for us since we had a rental. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The hotel was also very clean. Would highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Lucerne!!
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station, right across the river. I had a spectacular view from my window. It is an easy walk to all the important tourist highlights. There is no breakfast buffet; they give you vouchers worth 18.50 CHF for the pricey restaurant downstairs; if you have anything other than eggs and coffee it can get pricey. They do leave a coffee macine in the closet, you would have to take it out and figure out where to use it. The bathroom is small but functional and clean. Soundproofing could be better (i could hear people clomping around upstairs and next door and conversations outside my door) though these were only brief annoyances. All in all this was a perfect launching point for 3 day stay in amazing Luzern!
Lovely property with amazing views of Chapel Bridge and Jesuit Church. Staff was pleasant. Room was small but very comfortable.
Perfect location
Beautiful dinning room and tables lakeside.
Great location and very nice staff. Easy to walk to train. Beautiful view along Lake Lucerne. Would definitely stay again.
Switzerland Farewell
Des Alpes was our last stop before we returned to the US. What a wonderful way to end our journey. The hotel and all of the amenities were excellent. The dining along the water was delightful and walking throughout this region of Lucerne was the perfect ending. We would love to return!
Happy in Luzern
Very nice and convenient location. Enjoyed the hotel restaurant.
We enjoyed this hotel. The staff were friendly and the hotel was on the riverfront facing the Chapel Bridge.
Close to train and bus stops Central located to all main attractions
You just can't get a better location for immersing yourself into Lucerne. Must be aware of no central air conditioning on your timing. But everything else way offsets any negative on that. Even not having a River view was ok because of everything else was so good.
The beauty
It was walking distance to the train station and many options for dining.
Lovely stay
Beautiful place for a holiday trip.
