We both were sick with food poisoning. My husband through up on the floor and towels were in the area. They charged us 1140. In pesos for the items. Told us they couldn't be cleaned. Then after a few days took them. When i asked for them, that they were our property. They said the took and washed them. I demanded them back. We finally did get them back. We donated them to a family in need. We will NEVER EVER GO TO ANY FACILITY OWNED BY DECAMERON AGAIN.
We have returned from 10 days with our two children at Los Coco’s. We have stayed at this resort 12 years ago and in the charming town of Guayabitos many times. We knew what to expect from this resort in that it’s a 3 star but we aren’t coming to Mexico for fancy frills. Our issue with the resort was the food. The quality and options have significantly declined since our visit a decade ago. To top it off myself and one of my children got what we thought was food poisoning during our stay. My daughter was assessed by the resort doctor which supported this. The resort didn’t offer anything in lieu of this unfortunate event other than a reservation at their A la carte restaurant which was not appealing in any way. Postives of our stay still did outweigh our bad experience with the food, the staff are friendly, attentive, many who speak an English. Our children had a great time in the pool, we enjoyed some of the on resort activities and games, and the beach. The town of Guayabitos has many great things to offer and we will be returning however would not pay for an all inclusive experience as the food and drinks aren’t appealing enough to “get your monies worth”
This is my second time going to this resort, the food was excellent and staff were so kind and helpful. The resort was always clean and tidy. We stayed in building #1 by the beach, being so close to the beach was wonderful. Lots to do with our little ones (5 & 3), go to the beach, swim, go to the play ground etc. Everyone was so kind to our little ones. The only two things I would say is I wish there was a shuttle to and from the resort. You can only get a shuttle if you fly through West Jet or Sun wing. Also, building #1 was noisy the last 3 days of our trip as locals were playing loud music early in the morning. I was told that buildings 2,3,4,5 were really quiet. Over all my family enjoyed ourselves and will be back.
Everything was great
The rooms not good and the food the Beach very dirty.
I wasn’t expecting much from this property but was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, food options were great. Our room had a peek a boo view of the ocean. Those that say this place isn’t on the water probably got put in building 4. I would definitely go back.
No hot water, cockroaches in room, meals very repetetive, facilities very spread out, limited english speaking staff
Air conditioner didn’t work Had to ask for towels cause cleaning staff never left any Water was not hot
The WORST
The worst all inclusive ever. In a very sketchy area, so far from civilization. They do not like Americans here. I can’t believe this place is in business!
Everyone in the hotel got sick from bad food including my family. It rained and water was coming from every aspect of the hotel including restaurant and rooms. Not safe to stay here.
I don’t like it
This an old hotel that needs to be remodeled. Furniture is old.Mirrors have black spots & need to be replaced. Food was good as well as service. The night entertainment show was great!
Nice three star. Friendly guests snd staff. Food was ok. Great beach. Very walkable area with lots of great food and entertainment outside the resort. A la carts were hard to book.
Family-friendly, family fun at Los Cocos A-I
We were greeted by friendly staff. Most people there speak Spanish but there was a front desk clerk who spoke English and helped us with all our needs. Our room was beautiful and had a lovely balcony facing the ocean in building number one. W We asked for a king room and had two double beds, no problem for us. We met up with family and enjoyed the buffet meals, snack bar, adult pool bar and bar #1. The service was excellent in restaurant we ate at, on the floor and behind the counters. A very friendly and congenial atmosphere. My son and I enjoyed the free kayaking experience. Sailing with a skipper on a catamaran was offered to us, as well. The adult pool area was lovely for hanging out in the sun or shade and a cool down in the water. Chaises we’re comfortable and towels were provided with exchange for a card. A wonderful time for all of us. Thank you staff for your endless attention.
So disappointing. This is our third time here and unfortunately will be our last. It was loud all the time. No quiet area to be found. The rooms were dirty. Hardly could get a towel restocked. Beds were like sleeping on the floor. A/c stopped working. Elevator broke numerous times. Food was the same everyday. Beach chairs were hard to find and always dirty. The only pro If you are still with me is the city itself and the people that live in it. The excursions away from the hotel are amazing. We love rincon de guayabitos but we will not be back. We will pay the extra money to stay in sayulita or punta de Meta. Don’t waste your money on the Decameron chain. Terrible.
Good Poor and property need to improve
Pretty disappointed after being there on 4 different occasions and bringing at least 9 other guests with us we won’t recommend. Pool bar was closed multiple days, and pool was green for 2 days. Steakhouse restaurant was not open every night for reservations. When rooms were cleaned no toilet paper was left and there was no wash clothes. The floor was often not swept or washed. The all inclusive restaurant was lacking variety of food. Previously the food provided offered a larger variety and quality. We love this area but unfortunately after our 4th visit we may not stay here again.
The staff were excellent. Location is great. Food was pretty good for an all inclusive. They did not make good margaritas which was disappointing. The beach was crowded and the music loud even at night. Make sure your room is away from the bar area.
We had a difficult time at check in as we walked up several flights of stairs to get to our room to find out we didn't get the king bed we requested, but 2 small doubles. My husband went to change rooms and they put us on the main floor when we paid for an upgrade for an ocean view room, so back he went to change the room again. There are no king beds in the category we booked even though they say there is. There are not enough loungers at the beach and they are the hard plastic ones which are not comfortable at all. We were supposed to have reservartions for a la carte dining both nights, however, there was no a la carte open the first night. I was supposed to have received a birthday cake, but never received it. You cannot get a mojito at any of the bars and the mixed drinks are so sweet you can't even drink them. The pillows on the bed were too hard and too big to sleep comfortably. The staff were attentive and friendly, but we would not return as there are just too many negatives.
Nice room and the beach
Great location and amenities at this property. The beach access is a plus.
Very disappointed in this hotel. The room had cockroaches. Needs a total renovation.
they gave me a wrong room which i never got small and had insects on the bed next day i demanded my room i purchased. a Also they think the wifi is amzing to make dinner reservations which is impossible useless. cleaning people seem too hurry u up and leave and staff seems there always on top of u
Totally geared to Mexicans…no bacon, no toast, no more olives or capers. On the ocean but no shrimps or crab. Staff are absolutely fabulous but not being paid properly and trying to make do with the many less ingredients to feed the customers. Many negative changes since the Colombians took over…cheapest of everything. New staff don’t even know the basics of English. Never any beach chairs after 9am. Really went downhill in the past few years ! But we love the people who do their utmost to make things right.
Due to COVID, some of the activities that we had expected to do were not available such as kayaking. The staff was friendly but I was uncomfortable that mask wearing was not enforced amongst the guests.
We find the Decameron convienient but the condition of the rooms is not good. Fortunately we were able to change our room to another building where there was more space and better condition. The food quality has gone down as it has in other all inclusive;s. The entertainment was quite good and the special dinner at La Bamba's was very nice.
It was very noisy, roosters wake you up all through the night, highway is very loud, was hard to get a good nights sleep. Not enough choices for restaurants. Food was average at best.
not recommending this palce
the hotel has different buildings. We purchased Ocean view. They placed in the building with Ocean view, but next to the water. We had to carry our own bag up 96plus stairs ( we weren't the only guest complaining about this). There are many older couples that had to do the same thing. The building that we were placed had an ADULT pool only and we clearly had children with us. We had to go across the street to a different building to use pool. We went to go eat at the only restaurant in our building and you needed a reservation. Checking takes forever, check out is even worse. The food for "all you can eat" is ok. restaurants close at 9:30 pm. No room service. Our wake up call was late. We were not the only guest complaining. There were several guest asking us about our check-in and stay there. We will definitely not stay here again.
The beds were not comfortable. The coffee was too weak. The staff were amazing. We enjoyed the paddle boards, bikes, scrabble game. Loved the snack bar and the Steak House. Food in the Buffet was good. Loved the entertainment, first class.
Horrible, during our check in i asked the receptionist to put me in a lower level since i'm pregnant and couldn't do to much of walking or stairs. well she put us on tower 4, no elevator and tons of stairs.
Appreciated the staff attention, very friendly. I didn’t like the fact that I had an extra person and when called to confirm the reservation I was told you o pay and the hotel, but was never inform that they do not take U.S. credit cards or dollars to pay. They would only accept pesos or mexican credit cards, which is rediculou.
Ocean front view was excellent and the walk to the beach was very short and clean and safe
Over all We were very impressed with this resort, the only thing i was disappointed with was the pools as they were tucked in u-shaped hotel area and ver small. We spent alot of time on the beautiful beach in front of resort so really did not miss being poolside. We are already planning to come back next year
The garden.the service, food. Excellent . We were not happy about the pool being closed Too early .
Excellent relaxing family hotel. Staff is very helpfull and friendly.
I loved the variety of food and the shows at night. Staff could've been nicer and the rooms better equipped. Beds are to hard. I had an issue with the towels...you loose their towels you have to pay for them. I lost my towel.
Honeymoon
Very nice.
Hotel review
the staff was very very friendly and nice. The rooms were nice, more authentic Mexico compared to staying in Puerto Vallarta. My only complaint was having to make dinner reservations across the street at 8:00am...needless to say, we never ate dinner at the hotel. Also, no coffee maker in the room, which was weird to me. But overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back.
The staff are wonderful......the food not so great for the buffets. The ala- carte much better. We also had a mouse in our room (trying to eat mixed nuts we had brought from home). I had left the nuts on the dresser in a zip-loc bag and was woken up one night with the sound of the mouse. Next morning I asked for two days to get a mouse trap put in room, I was assured that would happen...it did not. We were woken up again at 3am one morning with the sound of the mouse in our suitcase chewing a hole to get to the nuts.... smart mouse it turns out...needless to say the nuts left with the staff that arrived with a broom and jacket to catch the mouse. Next day staff came and went through our room, set a sticky trap and fumigated, fixed a hole at bottom of door...no issues from then on. While I mention staff are great - my only complaint is that when the kitchen staff arrive early in the am to work we were constantly subjected to very loud yelling and talking by staff....going forward I think they need to be told that there are guests sleeping right nearby and as a courtesy they should and could keep their voices down. In fairness we were offered a different room - which we declined due to issues with knees. The pools and beach are great.
Facilities were kept clean at all times, very comfortable
Liked the cleanliness, friendliness and overall feel of the place. Food could be better.
At check in it was disappointing as I was not given what I had reserved and after 1 week of calling and confirming. Will not be returning no point in leaving a complaint, was very upset didn’t want to bother. Just never going back, my family and friends will be staying else where as I always book there vacations. Very disappointing as my familia and I have stayed there for years. Time to find a new place to vacation. What a shame
Honestly I was very impressed with the service of all the workers there they are very kind but there’s a smell near the beach but you don’t have to stay there there is a tour from the same hotel that they will take you to another beach the name is los Ayala No more than 7 to 10 minutes away , and the hotel will provide for you food and drinks ,which is much much better !! But You had to book a day advance do it it’s worth it or you can go there every day !!
Great food and service good variety of food
The hotel is steps close to the beach clean towels everyday great buffet live shows every night
This is a nice hotel not fancy but comfy
The room service was great Also the guy and girl that work at the bar workers were amazing great Excellente experience
I had bad experience with the hotel do to an
I honestly think the hotel have to improve the menu, the food have no taste at all, bad cheese, bad catchup, no cream for coffe, no salt or condiments on any food. That it's the key to bring clients to any place. They're using very bad quality on the food.
Could have been better
I have mixed feelings about this property. There are parts that were good. The rooms were clean, the food and food service staff were good but the beds and pillows are hard, they were doing jack hammering of tiles at 8 am which was disturbing after a late night and very noisy and the front desk staff were unfriendly, disorganized, under staffed and over worked. Overall for what I paid, I felt it was over priced for what I got.
Building repairs going on woke us up early.
Asked for 1 king size & 1 twin beds room. I speak perfect spanish, I asked if this ,they told me that was what I was getting only to find out ,I got 2 rooms with twin beds.
Great hotel very relaxing
My first time to Decameron los Cocos , Not 5 star but staff will do just about anything for you. Went to beach club one day, bartender Chris was awesome. Really enjoyed the Mexican culture, everybody always smiling, how could you not smile in paradise. Weather was great, never rained a drop the whole week, Went to Salvadore's on the beach and had all you can eat shrimp, could hardly walk out I was so full. Went fishing with alicias tours had a great day with Captain tony and uncle. cant wait to go back next year.
The negatives and the positives
Our second visit here but we had a granddaughter (24) with us so should have requested another bed. The sofabed couch was useless. Beds like most in Mexico, were rock hard. Huge room but a lot of useless space-could have had another bed and a TV in that space. Absolutely no hand towels-had to use a folded up bath towel to dry hands (took up all the sink/counter space. The stairs were a bit of a killer in bldg.4 but a good quiet location. However the staff was excellent in all areas-friendly and polite. Special shout-out to Kathy at the reservation desk for her efficiency and lovely manner.
The facility itself is getting old, but the service was very good.
Relaxing, Peaceful and Beautiful
This was our first trip to Mexico. My parents visit Guayabitos every year, and thought we would come see where they spend all their time. You can do as much or as little as you want here, there are plenty of trips to take or just relax on the beach. It's generally a much more "mature" kind of area and there isn't much night life, which is absolutely fine with us. We headed to both markets which are worth looking in La Penita, which is walking distance or a short cab ride (Thursday) and one in Guayabitos (Monday). We also went on the jungle tour(which you can book right at the front of the hotel) with a very knowledgeable guide (Salvador). We took a boat trip to go whale watching (from a man on the beach that will most likely approach you), they have life jackets and it is safe. It's also worth taking a taxi to Los Ayala the town up and over the hill (I wouldn't recommend walking on that road, as it's a little dangerous for pedestrians) and head to the beach, far left(looking at the ocean) is a path that goes up the hill and on the other side is Kissing Beach where the water is clear as day and it would be a great snorkeling area. The DeCameron is well taken care of, the staff are brilliant and the cleaners do an amazing job on the rooms each day. I will definitely be coming back and staying at this all inclusive again.
Great relaxing resort.
Rm needed more Elec plugs. NO WIFI IN RM OR RESORT! Chewed my data pkg trying to get online. Shuttle pkg failed. $more $ for airport transport Good food Great Service
Was good cocos 5 had been demolished and was being rebuilt made it a little busier than usual
nice but noisy
It was nice to be close to the beach but very noisy. First the renovation that went well into the night and then the fellow on the bullhorn right under our noses was a lot louder than necessary. Not many people go on holidays to play dumb games on the beach. Mostly it was just the staff that participated. I would go there again but try to book a room FAR away from the noise.
Great place to just relax and enjoy.
Excellent choices of restaurants and food. The service was impeccable where everyone was at our every call. The beach was amazingly calm because of the surrounding islands and shore formation. Getting around was really inexpensive and readily available. The shows where very entertaining and the quality was surprising. Lots of families with kids because the area is considered a local favorite and that made the entire vacation even more enjoyable.
Be careful what you eat -- get a free papaya!
After spending $2000 for a weekend stay (3 rooms), the receptionist at the arrival made me pay an additional $2700 pesos for a child who had turned 13 a month after I had made the reservation. They also made us wait almost 45 minutes when there was nobody else checking in. What a terrible way to greet your incoming guests. After that, we went to dinner and 3 of the persons in my party found fly larva in the food. The restaurant manager told us that it's difficult during the summer because there are a lot of flies -- and offered us a free papaya! I'm the only gringo in the group -- and I have been tolerant of this hotel (we've stayed there many times). However, this time, my Mexican family members admitted that they didn't want to go back. We'll find another place in the future.
authentic Mexican hotel on the best beach
this is a gem in the rough. my second home. just like being in paradise. the beach is the best in PV. You can actually swim here. The staff are fantastic. Food is also very delicious. Not five star but more pleasant than some 5 star. Is an older hotel but the beach, staff and ambience make it a great vacation. Good bang for your buck. Been coming to this hotel for 17 years now. I just love it.
Perfect for a quick get-away.
It was a very nice hotel, my mom and I had a nice time. The food was good and they had a lot of drink options which was fun. We liked being next to the adults-only pool. The staff was very nice. I wish there was a bit more beach room, it felt crowded.
Nice hotel very close to beach.
Very nice hotel. Food was not so good unfortunately. Great area for the beach.
Beach resort that lacks the resort feel
The resort was very clean from the rooms themselves to the pools. Our issue was they put our family in the building farthest away from the beach next to the adult only pool with a 5 year old. When I asked if there were other rooms available by the family pools, I was told no without an effort being made to even look. Check in was slow and I was told I had to have a printed copy of my reservation receipt instead of having it on my phone. Who does that any more? Also, no internet except in the lobby which was disappointing.
Nothing special
My wife and I stayed at the Royal Decameron in Puerto Vallarta then traveled to Los Cocos Decameron. No comparison, Los Cocos was in a small dirty village, all guests were Mexican, so no body really spoke English. The rooms were very basic and not nice at all, the food was simple and nowhere to go except the resort. Only thing I enjoyed was the beach, water was shallow and amazing for swimming !
Decameron Los Cocos, Guayabitos, Nayarit
The food & rooms are decent but the real magic lies with the staff & the location! Fun games & beach actitivies daily with energy-filled shows in the evenings, while the housekeeping & wait staff are so attentive. Guayabitos is a beautiful town hardly touched by commercialism. Definitely my destination of choice!
This place is amazing and I highly recommend this place. This hotel really is amazing.
FOOD WAS GOOD ,GREAT SERVICES
We have a good time, and we are coming back good service and the food was very good, we enjoy the last day when they have that Mexican fiesta....SEE YOU SOON
Fun family stay at the beach
Staff was very friendly, the food at the buffet was very good with a large variety. The room was clean, the only drawback was that there was only one TV station that offered programming in English and it was sporatic. I did see a few ants in the bathroom. The town of Guayabitos was fun with many little shops for browsing.
Nice hotel good location close to beach, stores
One of the best vacations I've had in many years, plan to return next year.
Another excellent week at Los Cocos
This not a fancy glass/marble luxury hotel. It is a basic but excellent facility right on a golden sandy beach in a small seaside town that is popular with holiday-makers from Guadalajara and other parts of Mexico. I am a regular visitor to this hotel and I'm not the only repeat visitor. The cleanliness is unbeatable - in ANY hotel. The food is good and fresh - very Mexican. The staff are friendly and attentive. And the evening entertainment is of an excellent standard. A good deal all round - though it is significantly more expensive in February when there are more foreign visitors. Prices are All-Inclusive for all guests.
Incredible pricing for amazing vacation
Amazing hotel! Hands down the best place to stay! Best vacation ever! If you stay here you literally wake up eat drink and lay on the beach! Staff is amazing and will go out of their way to do everything it takes for you to have an amazing experience. Everyone is so nice and helpful! You feel at home! The beach is amazing as well! You can swim and have fishes swim right next to you! Best hotel ever! Will definitely be going back and soon! The food is delicious! The drinks any drink you want they have!
Very clean hotel right on the beach
Overall quite enjoyable. Food was better than expected. Amazing staff!! Hotel kept extremely clean even though super busy
Good hotel close to the beach.----Beach was dirty
The food was bad .Was not what to choose to eat, there was no bacon for breakfast.no shrimps................
service was top notch
we wanted our family to have a true Mexican experience, and this resort nailed it.The beach was great for swimming and going for a nice long walk. The beach at the beach club was just as beautiful.but it was the staff that made our holiday so wonderful. We would recommend this resort to anyone.Expedia has never let us down.
Great all inclusive right on the beach.
We loved our time staying in the De Cameron Los Cocos. The town of Rincon de Guaybitos is charming and the local Mexicans are very friendly. We stayed in Bldg 4 and loved it. It was across the street from the beach (about a 5 min walk) with stairs to climb up to the rooms (no elevator), but walking to and from the beach wore off some of the great food we ate!! It had it's own quiet adult pool and the La Bamba buffet was by the pool and open for buffet breakfast lunch. It became an a la cart restaurant for dinner and the food there was excellent. The wait staff at La Bamba was exceptional, especially Bory and Latiana. Our maid was exceptional and made us lovely towel creations of swans and hearts.
An enjoyable week.
All the raves by other viewers were not exaggerated. We would go back in a heartbeat. We were there from Dec 7 - 14, 2014 and it was a great week. It was before high season so it was not overly busy except on the weekend when Mexicans came from Tepic and Guadalajara. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurants were closed so went to the snack bar and had cold hot dogs and burgers and at night were disappointed at the Mexican and Spanish restaurants. But then we discovered LA BAMBA which is the a la carte restaurant which has buffet breakfast and lunch and menu dinner. We ate there the rest of the week and really pigged out. Breakfast was eggs to order how you wanted them as well as a wide variety of fruits, yogurts, juices etc. Lunch we found surprising for Mexico, apart from usual buffett soup, salads and so on the first day there was Roast Turkey, the next day Roast Pork, then beef, ribs and Friday fish.. The a la carte was delicious, big tender steaks (where else in Mexico can you find a tender steak?) Big thick portions of Mahi Mahi (Dorado) and would you believe it big tender, ,juicy tasty pork chops. The staff in La Bamba were all friendly and looked after us well. We stayed in Building # 4 which is close to reception and La Bamba. The superior room we had was spacious and relatively quiet. There are many stairs there but it helped to work off the ecxess food. Really enjoyed the show and the chance to interact with the performers in the day
No such thing as any "Adult Only" pool or units.
We went for a nice quiet weekend to celebrate my husbands 55th Birthday. It advertised 4 pool, one being "adult only". All pools were open, but the adult pool had a minimum of 30 tiny tots at any given time & at least 10 we in diapers! It was loud & disgusting. The rest of them were on plastic floatation devices. The parents were getting drunk poolside while the kids were running free. We asked the guard why the sign said adults only yet full of kids. His answer was that it's adult only after November 1st. No where in their ads, on signs or the brochure they give you at sign in tells you this. The food was also terrible. I have no idea if they actually honour the adult only after Novembers, but if you are thinking of going in October do not stay at this hotel.
Just what we were looking for
We wanted a VERY kid friendly Mexican family resort and Cocos fit the bill. Yes, not all was perfect - the flood from the heavy rain storm in our room or choice of only Mexican style food (not as kid friendly for my nine-year-old gringo). But we could stay in Florida if that's what we wanted. We would go again for the night shows, kid friendly beach and fruit bar. Get an alcohol free pina colada and bring your own rum if you want to avoid gut wrenching cheap rum. The Oxxo is conveniently right next door!
Great Benefit-Cost
Great Service. All the people very compromise with the service. The best vacation for my family
My home-away-from-home in Guayabitos
This not a fancy glass/marble luxury hotel. It is a basic but excellent facility right on the tranquil beach which makes for perfect family bathing - none of the crashing waves of Banderas. This was my eleventh stay at this hotel and I was assigned a penthouse. The view was wonderful but the 104 steps down to the road outside was exhausting after a few days. (There is no elevator in this building). Cleanliness is unbeatable - in ANY hotel. The food is good and fresh - very Mexican. The staff are friendly and attentive. And the evening entertainment is of an excellent standard. A great deal all round - especially in the low season (late August).
Sunny California
Everything is alright. Expect that it was very hot and the air condition wasn't working as good as it should. Call service desk 2fixingx told her if they are not fixing it want my money to go to another hotel. After a few minute someone came with a new air condition. The rest of our stay was great.
Nice family vacation.
Very feriendly staff. Beautiful beach and weather. Excellent food.
cozy hide a way
Always enjoy our stay. Being so far away from airport and city makes it even better. The staff are wonderful and this was our ninth stay. We will be back in September or sooner.
Great Mexican getaway
We have been to Los Cocos several times and have never been disappointed. The management and staff have always been friendly, polite, and very willing to please. They have constantly made us feel welcome, and special. The restaurants are clean, the food well prepared, tasty and the staff all do a remarkable job of keeping it clean and fresh all the time.....they work very hard at it. The main thing, simply, is that it is a Mexican resort catering to Mexican families, which is why it appeals to us. We want a spot to go where we can relax, enjoy the sun, walk the beach, and lounge around the pool, and not have to think, or bother about anything, and they do a great job of providing that. We enjoy the ambiance of Los Cocos and Rincon in general, much more than higher priced options we've tried all along the Mexican Pacific coast.
Nice and clean hotel
Pasamos Unos Dias inolvidables en familia fue muy agradable
Great Family Resort
This resort really caters to families. Great for young children, 4 pools and a nice flat beach. One annoyance was all the vendors, far to many of them on the beach. A second al a carte restaurant would be nice, after 11 days there we had gone thru the entire menu. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and extremely helpful. The grounds were kept spotless and the pools and gardens well maintained.
Beautiful first experience in Guayabitos, Nayarit!
The colourful hotel buildings reflect the culture. The neat layout really appealed to us. Can definitely recommend Los Cocos Decameron, Guayabitos.
Great
It was a very enjoyable place to stay.
Hotel was great (Expedia - bad experience)
Everything in hotel was great !!!! Expedia vacation package bad deal no transport from airport to hotel 1,1/2 hour , flight back goooooood deal !!!!!!!!!!!! 15 hours instead normal time 4 hours
Gem in a Mexican village
A small, simple Decameron hotel with excellent service and cleanliness located in a village 60km north of Puerto Vallarta. The beach is sandy, the sea is calm and perfect for bathing. Rates are all-inclusive - food is plain but fresh and tasty. Entertainment at the hotel is five star.
Nice relaxed place at the beach
Good value, enjoyable stay. Good food (except a la carte), clean.Small but clean rooms with great beds.
No good food, drinks to watery ,room beside of bar
Couldn't sleep until the bar closed, bench in the beach to hard,
We will be going back
We knew going there it was not a 5 star and for the price it is well worth it. The staff is excellent and makes your stay very comfortable. The area is what really makes your vacation here great. Everything you want is a short walk away and the town is very quaint and your feel safe there wondering around at night. It is a quieter area so if you are looking for night life this is not the place for you. Most the tourist are older or locals. The beaches are crowded on the weekend but good during the week also the hotel has a shuttle which takes you to a quiet private beach area. We are planning on going back again for sure. We would totally recommend this hotel for people who are on a budget and like to spend more money on going out and doing things rather then on having use their funds on a 5 star.
November 27 - 28, 2013
I've stayed in many all inclusive hotels and this one was average in most aspects. Average food, average drinks due to low quality mixes, average service except in the dining room where it was better. Enjoyed cycling on the average bikes which need maintenance and sailing on a nice Hobie cat. Stayed two nights and the first was Mexican night where the food was limited and the music was way too loud - it made folks eat and run. The second night offered turkey dinner only in the a la carte restaurant.
For those who don't want the big town atmosphere
Second time here and more like Mexico, people overall friendly and more laid back. If you are 4 or 5 Star person it won't be for you. Relaxed place to be.
Adios, Los Cocos
My wife and I returned to Decameron Los Cocos in Guayabitos, Mexico and stayed from November 9 – 17, 2013 and WE WILL NOT RETURN. Even though we could easily stay at a nicer, more modern resort, we continue to come to this hotel as it has become something of a family tradition. My wife and her mother were guests in the past, other members of the family have stayed there, and we had a good time there two years ago. This vacation we were blessed to have the rest of our family join us throughout the week so by the end there were about 29 of us staying at the hotel. Some family members even changed their plans to arrive a day early or stay an extra day. This is when we discovered that our loyalty and past patronage meant nothing. Unbelievably, the hotel would not extend the same on-line rates for the additional days and charged us per person (instead of per room) at a higher rate that worked out to almost 5 times as much per night!! They didn’t even charge the “rack rate” posted at the front desk but said they had to charge more because the reservations were originally made through Expedia. I still don’t understand it and we wasted hours out of our valuable vacation time arguing with them to try to work things out. They actually wanted my brother to get an extra room because his child-care plans fell through and he had to bring an additional two children. Really, they want to split up a family on vacation? How much can it cost for an infant and a 2-year old?
Feels like home
I love staying here, the staff is always so friendly, the rooms are clean, it's not super fancy but it's very comfortable and welcoming. The only downside is how busy the beach is on weekends
Excellent hotel in front of the beach
Attention was excellent, animation group do an excellent job and the food is just great!
Horrible
Worst customer service ever! Not friendly & not interested in helping with issue. I hate the fact that the tv remote was glued to the wall.
THE WAITERS WERE WONDERFUL
First, the positive -- The staff was very friendly. There was plenty of healthy fruits and vegetables at the buffet and the upscale restaurant was very nice. There's also a snack bar with pizzas, nachos, etc. The biggest downside was the drinks. The alcohol was so cheap it tasted awful and gave me a headache even though the bartenders poured a thimblefull into the plastic cup -- then filled it with sugary liquids. I stopped drinking. The pools close at 7pm which also wasn't cool. One big warning, this is a family hotel. There are lots of kids playing in the pool. Therefore, if you have kids and want a friendly family vacation, this is the place to go in Guayabitos.
Hidden gem
Simply great value for the price. We first went to Los Cocos 15 years ago and keep going back for the good overall experience. Laid back, very Mexican, good kitchen, clean rooms, and exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. If you are looking for a 5 star resort, go to the Caribbean, if you want to just sit back and relax in a very Mexican setting, without the feeling of being processed, try Los Cocos. The only down side of recommending it is that we would like to keep it as "our little secret get away", and keep it to ourselves.

Authentic Mexican experience
3rd time to this fantastic resort that’s as authentic Mexico you can’t get. If you’re looking for luxury, 5 star, white counters resort this is not the place for you. This is all about experiencing Mexican food, culture, and the people. Staff are all incredible, the beach is by far the best beach in all of Mexico and I’ve been to both Caribbean side and Pacific side.
