The stay was ok but hotels.com failed once again with its sub standard loyalty program Best pay less with other sires
The room was very clean, it was big and very comfortable, we had view to the outside. It was perfect.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accomodating. The area is convenient for both shopping and dining, and also provides easy pick-ups and drop off for excursions. My only suggestions would be an improvement to the Wifi, and some more attention to the rooftop pool aa far as cleanliness and upkeep. All in all - it worked well for us and we would stay there again without hesitation.
Great location. Very convenient for tourists. Rooms are spacious and in good condition. Love their staffs too. Always helpful and friendly.
Lovely rooms, great food, great staff
Great vibe in Nimman
Cool boutique hotel in a great area of Chaing Mai. Nice rooms, great staff. Cool location.
Perfect little hotel
Great hotel I have stayed here a few times now and it’s amazing. Staff are very friendly and always happy to help. Rooms are very modern and clean, toiletries are really good quality and are replenished everyday if needed. Great location near all restaurants, cafes and bars. Plenty of shops, barbers and 10 mins from the airport. Free parking for hire car and motorbike Highly recommend. Will be coming back
Return visit that did not disappoint
Return visit to this place, and it was pretty darn good. Overall the hotel is what youd expect. Its clean rooms are sizeable and staff is very nice. They also have parking which is a huge plus since chang mai is super busy. Rooms are getting a bit old and beat up, but still pretty deacent, hotel will likely need updates in the next 5 year's.
The staff was friendly. The rooftop bars service was excellent. Their pool was a little small, but that’s okay. Rooms were great.
Great location. The hotel room smelled sweaty and moldy.
Convient place, easy to walk around, and nice breakfast. However, the front desk staff shall be more trained about the customer's care.
Friendly staff very convenient to any where
Very good place to stay in chiang may
It’s very good for relaxing
In walking distance to malls, shopping, bars and restaurants. Rooms equipped with full fridge
The location was convenient for getting around. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also good. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Great location! In the middle of the busy of it all. Very easy walk to food, shops, coffee etc.
Very modern, well laid out rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful with any tours etc er needed. Very good location, in the Nimman district. Only issue was one of the reasons we booked this property was for its gym, but there was no bench to make proper use of the free weights and the treadmill didn't work.
Nice hotel, every time I stay here for my business trip.
Total disappointment
The air conditioning sensor is broken. The room temp can drop to 18 degree at night. Way too cold. Despite having their repair man fix a few time and ensure by the staff that it was fixed. Still not working. Restaurant quality is very Bad. Do not know how to do over easy egg. Not matter how many times they tried. Sometimes it take more then 15 min to prepare the egg. Total disappointment, will not recommend to anyone. especially if you are not Caucasian.
The hotel exceeded our expectations and is in a great location for longer stays in Chiang Mai.
This hotel smells so nice, no-smoking at all! All staffs are very friendly and very polite. The location is good for walking around as well.
The room was great, but it was a little loud and the Wi-Fi was horrendous
The breakfast was very good and had a little variety every day. The staff were very nice and helpful. The location was perfect! 15 minute walk and you're in the old city. It was perfect.
Great stay at De Chai The Oriental Hotel
We really enjoyed our stay at De Chai. The service was great, and the hotel was very comfortable. The pool area is beautiful and relaxing, and the room was perfect. The fitness area could definitely be better, but we managed to squeeze in a few workouts anyway. Highly recommended!
Good location very convenient, friendly staff, clean room and good amenities
Great location
Other than a slight plumbing problem that they resolved by changing out room the stay was great
It is great location, nice staff and room is very clean and nice. We will stay here next time.
This property is in a good area where you simply step outside and your in the midst I’ve everything. I enjoyed that. What I did not enjoy was the fact that I booked 2 rooms and one of the rooms ac didn’t work so that guest got an automatic upgrade, the other room that I was staying in, the shower leaked and the bathroom smelled like sewage. I asked for a room change but never got one. I had to make due however I was very disappointed. The staff was ok. I am use to staying in better hotels. I would not stay at that hotel again.
It’s a ok place to stay, but I won’t stay there next time. Staff are friendly and nice with limited English. rooms are nice in the pictures but in reality there are old and dirty. They try their best still it’s old and not that clean.
Enjoyable stay!
A small but very nice hotel with friendly staff. Our stay included transfers to/from the airport which was a nice inclusion. The location is good with lots of eateries nearby.
The hotel is great, with huge and well appointed rooms. Nothing wrong about it, seriously. The breakfast is great, the people working the front desk were amazing and booked even our tours, and the pool on the rooftop is pretty great as well. Well done!
We loved our stay at De Chai The Oriental Hotel. The room and hotel were very nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful, there was a great breakfast every morning, and it is in an amazing location right off of Nimman Road. I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again if I am ever in Chiang Mai.
- hotel receptionist is good. There is smile on their face and warm welcome. - but a hotel employee has bad maner to customer. - food quality is quite good. - location is great.
Great location.. Nice staffs.. Good foods and coffee.. Nice room but there's a bad smell from bathroom which must be from the drain system
Spacious room with friendly staffs. Hope can have more food in the restraurant
Awesome
Feeling awesome. Staff are very friendly and the room is spacious. And the location is next to main street, very convenient. Sure will come back next time
Wonderful hotel and aminitiyand great location and great service!
staff were very attentive and professional. room was nice and clean. breakfast was excellent. would defiantly stay there again
Nice hotel. Locate in a good location. Convenient to walk around. Breakfast choices are limited, but can easily access for good breakfast outside hotel.
The location was central to all the restaurants and shopping and easily walkable. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We will definitely stay here again!
Nice clean thai style Hotel. Breakfast was very poor. My husband had bugs crawling in his bread one morning! Good loaction to Explore central chiang mai. Area is not great for kids as its a lot of trafik and a party area. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean
Have stayed at the hotel before as it is conveniently located and reasonably priced. The De Chai Oriental is a small hotel with limited parking (but was not a problem during my stay). Air-conditioning can be annoying (even when on “low”) in that theflow bounces off the opposite window or curtain and onto you and the bed. Also, no facility to set the actual temperature.
Great place Good location Clean The breakfast was fine
This hotel may look small but the room that they provide you are big! Very comfortable bed, clean spacious bathroom and quiet. There are so many good restaurants near by and very easy to access to tourist spot!
Lots of cafes around this area. Not too busy. If I had to nitpick on something, it would be the lighting of the toilet.
Great location but multiple issues with the room
Very friendly staff, nice room but bad smell from the shower and toilet and problems with the central electric switch caused the air conditioning to stop in the middle of the night
A really lovely boutique hotel
Good location, lovely staff, not too busy and good value!
Good location, easy access to coffee shops and restaurants. Car park was limited but the hotel done a good job sorting the space out.
Booked last minute, and was the perfect choice. From the moment we arrived, the staff was helpful and friendly. The area is a mix of locals and backpakers. Property is a few steps away from main street. The room was small but comfortable. Would come again.
Very friendly Hotel near the famous street locatio
Everything was perfect from the cleanliness of the hotel to the politeness of their staff with their beautiful smile 24/7. The location is good with all the restaurant nearby and the shopping Mall Maya few steps away. Left my expensive mobile on the room came back it was where I left and left my designer shawl on the lobby also somebody kept it for me..honest staff Well recommended. The view I got is facing the narrow street which has only few restaurants don't expect any view ..I was on the 3RD floor Facing the ugly street wires!!. The hotel lacks the view but compensate on all other espects. The free breakfast is good and sufficient everything is available not fancy but presentable. Amazing boutique hotel.
quiet and comfort hotel
hard to find at first, but later found it would be easier to access from the big road.
The room and the entire building are new and well-decorated. Location is excellent (except for the occasional noises due to airplanes). Staffs are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast selection is more than enough. However, there are a few things about the room that are quite annoying. First, the shower temperature was very inconsistent. Just when you thought you’ve adjusted it to acceptable normal temperature, it would get either too hot or too cold in under 30 seconds. There was nothing you can do to fix it, other than turn it off, turn on again, and pray for the best. In the end, I just had to rush the shower. Second, the shower curtain was a couple inches short, so there would be a small pond of water when you get out of the shower. Be sure to leave your slippers afar and watch your steps. Third, the sink was too close to the mirror, so you either keep bumping your head into the mirror, or cannot avoid water splashing into your clothes while washing your face. I’d say most of the issues are hardware related that weren’t well thought of in the first place, but some of them do have easy fixes, such as the shower curtain one. The hotel does have the potentials to become an excellent choice.
The Best! Great location, great staff, great servi
The staff was awesome here. The room was gorgeous, it's one block off the main street, you walk to dinner every night, the town is fantastic, all the tours we did picked us up right at our door and brought us home. It was easy and great for a family with a king bed and 2 twin beds in separate rooms with 2 bathrooms. LOVED IT! The breakfast was amazing too, you cna't go wrong here, this is where you want to stay when you visit Chiang Mai, perfect for me my husband, and 2 daughers and I am the GM of a hotel in Squaw Valley-so i know! Seriously, just perfect!
Classy
Very classy hotel in the best area in Chiang Mai, it was great spending the last 2 days of our trip here. The neighborhood is really cool and the hotel itself leaves a great impression of oriental class. The staff were really nice, breakfast was great and the rooftop pool was a nice place to have a refreshing swim after a day visiting the temples before going out again at night. Rooms are nice too, loved this place
really friendly and helpful staff. They organized a taxi to pick us to and from the airport. located close to good restaurants, cafe and bars
Loved De Chai! great location about 10 minutes outside of the old city walls. Staff was beyond nice - our driver that we arranged to pick us up from the hotel didn't show up so the concierge paid for our taxi when we arrived. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Restaurant was great for breakfast. Would definitely come back!
Mosquitoes attack!
Mosquitoes!!! Lots of them. I killed at least 5-6 of them every night for three nights I stayed. And they are everywhere. Other than the mosquitoes the hotel is very nice.
Surprising room
Outside looked very small but the rooms are great.
Cheap hotel, good location and average facilities
The hotel was good value and brilliant location however the pool was closed for most of our trip and the hot water didn’t work properly in the shower. The air con was loud but bearable.
modern, clean room with very helpful staff
We were greeted with ice tea upon check-in, which we really appreciated being hot and thirsty. The location gave us a chance to just walk around and enjoy the sights and food downtown. The staff were helpful with information, and they took care of our luggage while we went out before our late flight. I'd also recommend their cafe.
Nice hotel well located in the Old City
Great little hotel located near Nimman road. Everything you need is waking distance. Hotel arranged to pick us up from airport and deliver us back to airport free of charge. Hotel is clean and has nice layout. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Free breakfast is nice! If you’re looking to take a cab, take an Uber instead, cabs are 5 times the price!! Only complaint about the hotel is that there was a bad sewage smell coming from the bathroom - very perceptible. Also on 2 occasions we smelled cigarette smoke in the room even though the hotel has a no-smoking policy.
Nice Boutique Hotel great location
Absolutely wonderful place! I got in later than expected due to flight delays and the front desk girl gave me a hug and said she was worried something had happened to me! They went above and beyond to accommodate me, helping arrange tours, eating places, laundry delivery to my room etc.. breakfast buffet great! Overall excellent place!
Great city, terrific staff, beautiful property
My wife and I have visited this hotel twice now. The most recent visit was for seven nights in February. Staff was even friendlier than we remembered. Beautiful hotel. Can’t wait to return.
Loved this place. It’s away from all of the kale eating, “I come to Chiang Mai because it’s trendy”, hostel staying, gender neutral ass-hats. Great staff. Great location. Great room. Great breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I had to come back to Chiang Mai.
Cute hotel
Good hotel. Tub/shower leaked all over! Breakfast was meh. Would stay again!
Stylish, modern, walking distance to restaurants
Excellent stay overall - very clean rooms except for air conditioning filter which hadn't been cleaned in a while, leading to a dusty smell when it was on. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Excellent breakfast buffet, several options for Asian and for American tastes, including made to order eggs, bacon, hash browns, french toast. Pool had a great view of the mountains to the West and was a good way to cool down after a tour. Walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and coffee shops.
Excellent service - great food
Quite satisfied with my stay at DeChai The Oriental, it is sleek & modern with excellent service from staff. Food is awesome, rooms were nice & there's a great view of the mountains on the top level where the pool and gym is. Only downside was the bath as the push-plug did not work so we couldnt have a bath and the elevator didnt have air-con.
Excellent choice in Chiang Mai.
The hotel is small, you feel good about the care, breakfast is v good. You can order your food like boiled egg, any way you like your eggs, with bacon ...etc. good coffee. The hotel very clean and looks new. Staff very helpful. I stayed 4 hours extra for my late flight, the allowed me to stay in the room, no problems. The location is friendly but 10 min from old city. Uber is available you can get to where ever you want for 2 or 3 usd.
Super convenient
You can not ask for more, the location of the hotel is great. With good walking distance to various shop, coffee or food
Amazing Amazing Amazing
Really Nice hotel very clean and comfort. The team is pleasant and positive
Clean and renovated.
Great accomodation. Close to national stadium offering great connectivity. They have delicious mango Sticky rice. Highly recommended
Perfect intimate boutique hotel in a chic neighbor
Technically, I only came to the hotel to sleep and then start my day all over, but I would have to say..... I couldn't have asked for a better hotel/location than De Chai. Bed was comfortable, staff polite, helpful, friendly and hotel spotless. The rooftop pool was a great way to end my trip. I'll give it 11out of 10 stars. Definitely coming back on my next trip.
We had a pleasant stay at De Chai the Oriental. Staffs are friendly, polite & very helpful. Shops & restaurants are within distance. We stayed in grand deluxe room & the room was spacious with 2 bathroom & sitting area. Thank you for making our stay memorable. Ok
One of the best options around Nimman rd
Great location. Wonderful staff. Had a great stay and would recommend to anyone.
Chiang Mai lovely neighborhood.
Loved The Oriental. Great staff and hotel in an even better neighborhood. Only complaint is the pool was under repair during our stay and we received no warning. Blessing because we spent more time meandering around the city and surrounding neighborhood. Can't wait to return.
Spacious Rooms In A Great Location
The staff is very welcoming and eager to ensure a perfect stay in Chiang Mai. The breakfast staff remembered our preferences and anticipated our needs. The front desk personnel acted as the concierge and arranged activities, tours, and taxi rides. The hotel is in walking distance to major shopping malls, restaurants and shops. And Starbucks is nearby.
Nice
Nice hotel look allways like new the staff help allways
small comofrtbale and great service
Fantastic people work here! So accommodating and nice, helping with whatever you need. Hotel is small which is great so its quiet and rooftop pool is great
Location makes it worth it
De Chai is a decent boutique hotel. The service was pretty much bad throughout my stay. Only the kitchen staff that served breakfast was up to my standards. First of all they forgot to pick up my group and I at the hotel after confirming airport pickup. They also gave us attitude for asking for an additional room key even though we had 4 people in the Family 2 Bedroom. Another thing is especially if you are a hote in a touristy area you should be able to have at least one staff member who can speak proper English. The location makes up for all the small complications the hotel has. It is in the center of the main road and of town. Easy access to everything you may want to do in Chiang Mai
The room was clean but the towels were a bit old. The staffs were friendly. The location is very convenient with all walkable distance for foods and drinks
Excellent Boutique Hotel!
We truly enjoyed our stay at De Chai The Oriental Hotel. The hotel is relatively new, modern and extremely clean. Best of all there are many restaurants and bars in the surrounding neighborhood. The hotel is situated in an excellent location. The rooftop pool has a great view of the city. The entire staff maintained a high level of excellence making our stay very memorable. We asked to check out a little later than planned with no issues!
Nice location is the only highlight of this hotel
Pros: This hotel is ideally located Cons: Breakfast, No sitting area, not much to say about this hotel
A Gem in Chiang Mai
This hotel is amazing! It made our stay in Chiang Mai an awesome experience. The gotel is in the middle of a trendy neighbourhood with many high end restaurants and coffee shops, as well as traditional Thai cuisine. You will not need to walk a block to find enough restaurants to try every day for a week. We had a two-room suite. Very spacious rooms and bathroom. Very clean. Air Conditioner quickly refreshed the rooms and with the extreme heat outside was a very nice feature. The staff was very friendly and extremely kind and responsive to our requests. Rooms are very isolated from each other and never heard any noise from adjacent rooms. Breakfast was very simple but good enough with fruits, yogurt and cereal. Congee was also offered as well as omelets. Being in Chiang Mai though, no need to have hotel breakfast when there are tons of food options any day and any hour in the surrounding neighborhood; and even more options in the city center which is 5-10 minutes drive. Only complaint was that some guests do not respect the "Smoking Prohibited" signs anywhere in the hotel. The hotel have cameras and should enforce such policy, specially in the pool. I just cannot understand why people do not respect such a simple rule and try to do this in front of a family with kids. Do they think rhey are above everyone else. Probably not much the hotel can do to make guest respect this policy but they should try to enforce it somehow. Overall a great hotel and great experience in Chiang Mai
I truly enjoyed my experience at the chai oriental hotel. It was newly remodeled and close to fun spots to drink and eat. The staff was incredibly helpful and continuously checked on us to see if there was even more they could do. Highly recommended!!
A quiet place with bustling surrounding!
The both room had an unpleasant smell when we first checked in but it was OK after some air freshener spray. A good location with many food and beverage outlets nearby. Friendly and helpful service staff. Overall, we enjoyed the stay.
Location!
Perfectly situated in nimman area. Hotel staff were great.
Nice Boutique
Hotel was in a great location. We upgraded for the suite, which was well worth the extra money. Many restaurants close by, and it was extremely easy grabbing a tuk-tuk or red truck/cab.
Good location in Nimman
Hot water was unpredictable and inconsistent. Staff was not helpful providing tips on Loy Krathong festival. Wifi was also very spotty and slow. The only good thing was the location and the room was quite large.
the room is size is great. staff is good and helpful. but the bathroom is drak. the shampoo and bath jell is poor, just like a liquid.
Convenient, cleaand, comfortable.
It was fantastic. Service was great. Everything was clean and many amenities were accessible by foot. Will definitely stay here again!
Chiang Mai nights
Great room, although over looking a construction next door. Great bedroom, bathroom wasn't quite what I hoped for and breakfast was too simple although that gave us plenty of time to explore and discover great places closeby
New Hotel With Vibrant Street
I enjoyed it and the interior is very clean and beautiful. The road has a lot of restaurants and bars as well.
great staff, excellent location
in the heart of nimman. tons of food and drinking options... the staff is very helpful, the breakfast is just right. We've stayed there twice now, it's great for families or couples... very comfortable rooms
Great location, less than great staff
I was very pleased with the hotel itself minus the cold showers. It was located in a convenient location with good restaurants all around. However, the staff was less than desirable. They seem to have plenty of staff but they were very lazy and did not work as far as I could tell. I had to open my own door which is fine but not ok when there are two doormen sitting on the steps texting right by the door. Many times I was walking to the elevator and I would see the staff in the room where breakfast is served laying down at the tables and no one could be found at the front desk. I felt like this was an establishment where there was no boss and everyone did the bare minimum to get by.
Nice Hotel in Old City
Enjoyed stay - quality rooms and inclusions - breakfast menu a little light
Beautiful hotel in a prime location
This is an amazing hotel, I stayed here for 7 nights during June. The staff were all more than welcoming and the room was certainly worth it. If there is one issue its that the shower hot water is not consistent. A minor issue in an otherwise flawless and highly recommended hotel.
Thanks De Chai!
This is a great hotel. It is in a groovy suburb of Chiang Mai with restaurants, coffee shops and bars in walking distance and only a few minutes red cab ride to the old city. The staff were so lovely. Very friendly and helpful. I was there for two weeks and the staff felt like family when I left, admittedly it was off season and I was often the only guest so I did get spoilt. Beautifully appointed room, great rooftop pool and terrific porridge for brekkie. Great choice for my first overseas trip on my own. Highly recommend.
Comfortable hotel w/ good location
The hotel is new and comfortable. The staffs there are friendly. There is a small pool on the roof. The location is near many restaurants, bars and coffee shops. There is only one thing I dont satistified which is their compensation policy, but the staff solved my problem well.
Great location. A few streets off the main road. I would definitely stay here again. Our room was lovely! Next door to an amazing massage place. Highly recommend!
