Danubius Hotel Helia Review
I had a great experience at the Danubius Hotel Helia. The staff were very professional and friendly and the services were excellent. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
Super friendly service
The Spa was nice, Hotel bar tiny, and construction going on
The room I stayed in was beautiful and clean with a very updated interior and many options for lighting throughout the room for different purposes throughout the day and night. I also don't remember hearing any noise from adjacent rooms or the hallway during my entire two week stay, which was lovely. The hotel is very conveniently located on bus lines and across the street from a rental bike station, as well as just a few blocks from the metro, which was all very convenient for getting around. It felt very safe as well. If I'm ever in Budapest again, I would definitely stay here again!
Best hotel in Budapest
Great location and swimming pools.
Was a great stay
All good 👍
VIP amenity - I received free parking on their premises, the rest just as a regular guest 😊🙏 Good hotel, nice staff, great food in the restaurant!
AC did not work properly, I had an allergic reaction & couldn't sleep because it was too hot. Uncomfortable bathroom, every time we took a shower the floor was flooded. The shower floor was very slippery we requested a rubber rug for showers several times but never received it; my husband slipped & hurt his hand. Because of the flooding, we had to change rooms. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff.
Hotel was clean, restaurant good, services and stuff very attentive and pleasant. Location is convenient, metro station within walking distance. Parking was easy. Not much around the hotel, but we did not expect it. Pool was really nice, with some classes included as well. Biggest issue was the lack of air-conditioning, despite of what the website says. Windows do open, but no net on the windows. Room was facing east, so impossible to open windows during the heatwave.
the staff is like dont care for nothing...
Brilliant location right by the Danube. 10 min walk to station, 5mins to bus/tram. Lovely breakfast, very clean reception and restaurant areas. Room outdated, but comfortable bed and very clean. Would stay again, would recommend.
Spa Hotel Helia
The apartment suite we booked was new and huge with two bathrooms and full kitchen. The Miele appliances were so new and no instructions. Had to look up on internet how to use cooktop and washing machine. They should provide instructions in the room. View was outstanding, over the Danube.Loved the Yellow Bisztró cafe. Was open all day. Great massages and pedicure there. It is a spa hotel.
Professional staff , efficient service but not very modern rooms.
Brilliant hotel. Would recommend it
Great hotel
Wonderful hotel! Very easy to get to from the airport via public transportation; bus, metro and a short walk. Breakfast was worth the €15 each. We would stay here again.
The new rooms were really nice, the food selection was great and it was quite.
Best hotel and good location
Amazing staff very helpful definitely staying again.
It is a nice, comfortable hotel with a great spa
We love the location, the service , and the breakfast buffet.
Recommend for business trip
Very nice hotel with large parking outside. Restaurant available on site. rooms are confortable but a little modernization would be needed. Very good and various breakfast
Friendly staff . Cleanliness.
Love the spa area staff exceptional food good would stay here again
My husband and I love the breakfast buffet and the relaxed feeling of the hotel. We also loved the small restaurant, "Yellow," where we had two excellent meals with family. The health club is a wonderful opportunity to work out in the exercise rooms. There are two floors: one for weight training and the second for cardio exercises. bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals. Most of all, we love the three pools of different temperatures. The hotel has all we need for a wonderful getaway.
Everything was good, bed was comfy, breakfast was very good.
Very nice place to stay
We stayed for several days in this hotel and I would like to mention always choose this stay in the past. Therefore we experienced changes, the reception is very kind but the quality of service did not exceeded our expectation, the breakfast is amazing as always The room service declined not as much cleaning like before and some days at all we had to let the reception know It’s sad to see how service declines when a hotel does not pay enough attention to a quality service and requests placed 6 months in advance !
Had a great couple night stay , super friendly staff!!! Thank you!
Rooms are too small, bathroom is extremely small, furniture very old
I am not sure about this hotel. Need to be update . Rooms very old style. The location is good .
Overall everything was good except being excluded from dinner in restaurant due to being booked out for athletic participants of world athletic championships despite posters throughout hotel advertising evening buffet. I consider this to be unfair as this was not advised prior to stay.
Wonderful Experience.
Wonderful Experience. stayed here for the night after my week at the Sziget Festival and it was needed. Everyone from the Doorman to the chefs were kind and welcoming to me!
Great hotel for Budapest traveler
Nice and comfortable hotel which located 5mins walk from a metro station. Large spa and pool and nice bar and lobby restaurant complete the pampered atmosphere.
Great spa, uncomfortable room
The hotel itself was great but a huge point you look for in a hotel is for a great nights sleep - which we didn’t get. Our aircon didn’t work in our room so we would wake up all through the night so uncomfortable. Reception only bothered to go up after me asking them a second time the next day. Even then, all they did was turn up the temperature and put on the aircon symbol clearly thinking we hadn’t done that already and tried multiple methods. The attitude from the receptionist and the discomfort from having no aircon put such a dampener on the holiday. However, the spa was great and the bistro downstairs but the poor sleep for the entirety out weighs it.
A 3.5 to 4 out of 5 Experience
We stayed for one night, and it was sufficient for our purposes. The surrounding area is very residential, there's a supermarket across the street, which is convenient. The room we had had some issues (there was no sauna light, a/c did not work). They fixed the a/c to a certain extent, but we didn't get to use the sauna, which was a bummer. The restaurant staff had varying attitudes, and the food was just ok. We looked at the buffet, it did not seem worth the money, as there was not a large variety of meats. The balcony was really nice, and the front desk staff were great.
We loved this hotel! it was one of the few hotels that we stayed in while in Europe that had a refrigerator. The in hotel Dining options are amazing. we ate 70 percent of our meals at the hotel restaurant. The spa is incredible and the staff make you feel so comfortable. The hotel is right on the river with walking trails along the road. It was a great experience and we hope to stay there again!
Great hotel on the Danube river.
Excellent spa hotel by the Danube river, approx 20 mins walk into the city centre. Before booking, I was concerned that the hotel might be run down, based on the photos of the decor of the rooms, which are quite dated. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was in better condition that I expected. It was also very clean and the service was excellent. With a renovation of the decor in the rooms and spa, this hotel would be hard to beat!
3 nights in Budapest
Hotel was just right for our needs. Good location, friendly staff and the pool and health spa provided a welcome break from our sightseeing. First class!
Great experience
Excellent hotel
The suite was spacious with superb views over the river
Enjoyed walking down the Danube and being out of the hustle and bustle.
The location was good. Nice amenities
professional friendly staff inclusing front desk and waiters. professionals all the way. thank you
Balcony view.
A quick stop in a business trip. I chose this place mainly for its location, wanted to see for the first time the great Danube, from my balcony. Overall service and amenities are really good, especially the breakfast and dining options. Room was okay.
Good
This is a good hotel, breakfast and pool are great, but avoid rooms near the lifts, noisy, we asked to be moved and they obliged.
excellent
it was great '
Stayed after a river cruise. Very convenient.
The hotel facilities were nice and the location of the hotel is convenient. However, the heating in our room did not work at all. It was very cold at night. Also the wifi was good during the day but very slow at night.
Excellent 4 star hotel with amazing facilities but on the days of our stay the heating didn’t work well and the room was a bit cold. All the other is very good !!!
We liked the location away from the center of the city, but accessible to everywhere. The health facilities and pools were exceptional and immaculate. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent and high quality. There was an abundance of food and something for everyone.
Baia neconforma
Rezervarea sa facut in euro, am cerut sa platim in moneda nationala .
Tired
Hotel a little tired and could do with renovation. Overall reasonable for central Budapest
I'll start with the good things: a glorious spa with lots of options and for free! Impressive, cozy and renovated lobby. A good breakfast and the lobby restaurant offers a good and tasty menu. But here it ends! As soon as you go up to the room, you are in a completely different hotel!!! Very small, uncomfortable, ill-equipped rooms, dirty carpet with the smell of urine, unclean shower, liquid everywhere, broken and spoiled... After two days we were changed to a room with a balcony... The exact same room, only a balcony that brought clean air into the room, but again, not clean and a safety balcony! For 5 nights the room was not cleaned even once! They didn't replace a trash can, in short, very bad service!!! If you are a VIP customer you have to remind them what you deserve and even fight for your rights, because it's like talking to a robot... they never look at you and always say no... In the end, we got a room change, we got free parking, we got a drink that we deserved, only after we demanded it from them.
Plus & negatives ve’s Reasonably comfortable hotel, clean, regular bedding/towel change, nice spa/pool, courteous staff, good breakfast selection. Robes provided. -ve’s Poor air con in bedroom 247 & fellow friends accompanying said same. No real cool function. Result open window too much street noise. A distance from city centre. Practical tips: 75 bus outside takes you into city. Also 75 in opposite direction will take up to Heroes square and Schezinyi Park. 8 min walk to metro Dozyna. Supermarket opposite and nice Chinese restaurant very unusual food, also cake/coffee shop. Easy access to Danube river walk and about 20 min walk to cross over to Margarit Island (worth a visit)
Property location was okay for the overall price. AC was not working properly and our room windows faced a highly traffic road; when we opened the windows to cool off the room, it was too noisy.
The mineral water pools and view of Danube from room are the positive points that make rest of Experience tolerable. Hotel not able to provide service to number of Guests present for Conventions and meetings. No heating and room very cold at beginning of October.
Very good hotel for the business stay
Was very good
Good hotel clean and comfortable
Nice hotel. Situated slightly out of the centre but within walking distance of the metro - very close to the river. Slightly dated decor. The shower would not stay in it’s holder but otherwise good.
Best hungarian goulash we had in Budapest. Everyone was great.
A pleasant enough hotel
Pleasant enough hotel, currently undergoing some refurbishments which must be difficult after COVID. Disabled parking is free and there are two parking spaces right outside the front doors. Reception staff are business like but still friendly and the staff in the restaurant couldn't do enough for us. We had a snack on arrival which was tasty and went there for our first night meal, I don't understand other reviews as both meals were of a really good standard. Good breakfast selection with omelettes and fried eggs made to order, lots of warm and cold dishes available from the buffet as well as a good selection of pastries and breads. Didn't understand the need to queue for coffee as there's two machines, one of which very few people use.
The Danubius Helia is very old and the rooms don‘t look like the ones in the pictures. The wellness Area was also very disappointing, no wellness atmosphere at all. The hotel does not deserve four stars…
The property was as expected, far enough away from the hustle and bustle with nice Spa facilities following a day of sightseeing. Public transport is easy to use to enable access in and out of the city, but you can always take a leisurely walk down the Danube which the hotel offers great views from. We would recommend this hotel for people who wish to explore what Budapest has to offer, but take a step away when it's time to unwind.
Major letdown & Dissapointment
Devasted to find upon arrival that the saunas were gender separate (not mentioned on advert at time of booking) and furthermore that the mens sauna facilities were out of action for two weeks reparation, again no mention of this on the website at time of booking. Really frustrating when the only reason we booked this particular hotel was for sauna & spa relaxation
We liked the gym particularly the fact that it stayed open so long. Our room was excellent as was the breakfast which had a large selection of foods to choose from. We also enjoyed the pool area which was indoor and had 2 different temperatures for its pools in addition to having a warm pool. It was strange, however, that the jacuzzi bubbles were not going all of the time and that customers couldn’t turn them on. While the location of the property was right next to the river, there wasn’t much else in the area. The outside of the hotel looked old and worn, but the inside was great. As it was very hot, the hotel provided, in the lobby, cold water (poured into glasses).
The spa and reception areas are fantastic but the room was very disappointing- the shower was broken and we asked reception for repair but no one came also the bar closes at 11pm The spa was excellent
On my booking believe read breakfast included. But at hotel said not. Couldn’t find on yr confirmation of yes or not included, so have to assume that is not
Looks of the inside of the hotel. Facilities. The staff was great
thank you for accomodation
they tried to accommodate all our needs didn't like that they do not clean rooms during your stay
The picture of the hotel in Expedia and the hotel we were staying is different the nice pictures are in different location and it is very misleading.
Location is great. Checking in, the person seemed reluctant to give me the VIP upgrade I was promised. Never did receive the ‘welcome beverage’. Breakfast was very good.
Très bien situé, piscine et terrasse extraordinaire. Bon déjeuner et très belle vue sur le Danube et l’île Marguerite Je le recommande fortement.
The location is great: in a quiet area, yet right next to the river and within 15 minutes walking distance from the center and all the bars and cafes. The shared spaces are comfy, spacious, and clean. We travelled with a one-year-old and we always felt welcome, while the baby also had lots of areas where he could ramble around.
20 mins drive from down town. Clear hotel. Good facilities including pool. Good breakfast.
Great hotel in quiet area
Really nice hotel, great value for money, nice breakfast, great pool
A great stay
We had a great stay - the facilities were great. Swimming pools clean and good for swimming in. The location on the Danube within walking distance of everything needed and easy access to public transport. Recommend having a travel pass
Hotel services
Excellent view to the Danube River. Breakfast was also 4.5 stars.
Great place.
Excellent Hotel with SPA to stay for any time long
Staff could be more helpful and need more regular room service otherwise the hotel was pretty just need to nice people.
Dirty. Staff unfriendly, one of them even entered our room at 7:30am without any appologies. Noisy, at 6th floor you can hear the elevator engines. When telling the receptionist he said it’s nothing to be done. Totally disappointed
Rude Receptionist
The gentleman on reception on the sunday was one of the rudest and moat abrubt people i jave ever dealt with. On check in on rhe friday the gentlemen i dealt with was fantastic, and so were the ladies on the saturday evenyng that we asked for some help from. The gentlemen that worked the sunday evening really put a good hotels name to the ground as he was so rude and not helpful ag all and very arrogant. He shouls not be working with the public with that attitude. This was witnessed not only by myself. This will make me think twice now about staying sy the hotel on my next trip to Budapest.
I liked best the great view I had - from my window_over the Danube and the Buda side. Beds are very comfortable and their white crisp cotton sheets feel fantastic...
Always a pleasure to stay here. Great staff, amenities, cleanliness. Room is always clean and well stocked nice to have a river view. Comfy beds Lovely stay
Awesome hotel and very clean and good breakfast Very quite and awesome views
Next to the river, a convenient location for jogging etc, the gym is better than most other hotels.
short business trip
very friendly staff, good location, overall -> I would use it again
Trip to Budapest for Grand Prix
Travelled to Hungary for the Grand Prix, hotel was ideally situated for that, close enough to the centre of the city (about a 20 min walk into town) but close enough to the link roads to get to the track. Hotel staff and facilities were fantastic, Spa was very good and the food from the hotel restaurants was excellent. All round, a very good experiance and would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Only stayed for a few hours, checked in at 03:30 and left as 11:00. Room was nice, clean and had a great view of the Danube. Check in staff seemed nice and caring.
The hotel food was excellent, my room was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and professional.
Amazing staff. Lots of amenities. Well situated on riverbank
Good location nice and quiet. Great facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Food great too.
Great location on river front. Lots of facilities. Good food. Staff friendly and helpful
Excellent all round service , staff couldn’t do enough , room were and hotel first class
The spa facilities and fitness are fantastic. The staff were just wonderful and accommodating. They surprised us with birthday cake and treats that made our weekend !! Breakfast was great. Our dinner waiter Miklos in the restaurant was concierge level professional. Thank you
