Perfect stay
Absolutely flawless from start to finish. Expensive obviously but you get what you pay for. The hotel is beautiful, staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful and the food and drink is delicious.
In the central section of Copenhagen
The best hotel we've stayed in. No need for a car or taxi. An excellent and enjoyable walking city. Three days was just right
just perfect; you definitly pay for what you get
wonderful young and attentioned staff; splendid decoration; immaculate; exceptional breakfast. it is expensive but it is worth it.
Great a Location. Friendly staff.
Loved this hotel. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. We rented a car for the day. The concierge set it up. Unfortunately the car was broken into. The staff found out. They placed a gift in our room and bought us a round of drinks. Nice touch.
Phantastic service and hospitality. Very elegant renovated rooms.
Beautiful hotel
The hotel is simply stunning - beautiful decor, relaxed ambiance and attentive staff. Breakfast was of high quality and quite simply delicious. Croissants, rolls, tea or coffee and eggs Benedict that came with a delicate side salad, tea or coffee. At 300k for two people it was extremely good value for money. Staying here is a must!
Great hotel near the centre
Excellent service, excellent location, excellent quality of rooms.
Grand hotel but very friendly staff
This is one of the best hotels in Europe , by any standard. A luxury hotel in the centre of town, lovely rooms, great service and a relaxed ambience. There is a confidence within the hotel that they know what they are doing and that they care about the guests. Bars and restaurants manage to combine the needs of a broad cross section of society. Recommended!

Only stayed one night, we were very satisfied by the location, installations and personnel at the hotel .
Very nice hotel the rooms are perfect
We spent four nights at this hotel. The room was flawless. The staff very helpful. Our daughter got so many gifts from the hotel and Santa who had even left his photo by our door. The meal at the restaurant and for the breakfast was also tasty.
Best hotel I've stayed in for a long time
Great hotel shame about the room they put me in as it was opposite a nightclub and every night at 12 was woken up. Secondly they then decided not to compensate me.
Beautiful hotel, warm and friendly staff
We had a lovely time, stayed for 4 nights in luxury. Will be going back very soon, it's deserves the title of one of Copenhagen's best hotels, we would say the best!
Wonderful
We love staying there, lovely staff, such comfortable beds.
Stylish hotel in the centre of Copenhagen
Warm welcome, very helpful staff, great room, fabulous dinner at Marchal.
Wonderful hotel in the perfect Copenhagen location
For a short stay in Copenhagen, this is the perfect hotel. Recently re-opened after extensive refurbishment, restaurant recently awarded Michelin Star (and best restaurant in Denmark), comfortable room, great location and outstanding service.
Best hotel in copenhagen and fantastic location
Beautiful hotel in prime spot in city centre. Perfect for tourists and business travellers alike. Received a free upgrade on arrival. Suite was stunning and all hotel facilities were 5* throughout. Would definitely stay here again.
The Best Hotel in Scandinavia, if not the world
Everything was perfect. Best of all, the people of the hotel, like the Danish people in general, are the kindest in the world. It was a perfect stay for us.
Great customer experience
I booked this hotel for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and the customer experience was fantastic from the door man to front desk and restaurant. My parents got an upgrade to an amazing and spacious suite. The refurbishment is very tasteful. The restaurant is well worth a visit.
Great hotel
One of the best hotels we have ever visited. A real pleasure.
Hotel d'Angleterre, very centrl Copenhagen
The hotel is perfectly situated to stroll around beautiful Copenhagen. The rooms were spacious and staff were very friendly. Highly recommend it.
Faded Grandeur - tired looking hotel - fabulous breakfast
The Hotel has seen better days, great historical building but the rooms, while extremely spacious were early 80's in decor and amenities. Location was excellent as was the breakfast which was amongst the best I have ever had in a hotel. The Pool was, like the rest of the hotel, in need of some refurbishment. Staff were warm and friendly, coffee was shocking! IMHO a 4* rather than 5* hotel.
Best hotel in Copenhagen, if you love shopping location this is the place
The service was great. Arrived 7 am and the we were given a room. Great after an overnight flight. The atmosphere is very cozy and elegant. loved the gym with pool and sauna. Breakfast is included. Unforgettable.
Excellent Grande Dame in Copenhagen
The Hotel D'Angleterre is an older hotel in Central Copenhagen - minutes from the metro, and well placed for all of the major attractions in the city. The service was excellent, although occasionally the staff missed slightly due to a lack of English (surprising in Denmark), the rooms comfortable and the food fantastic. The hotel also had a very good gym and spa, and the rooms were quiet during the evenings and overnight! The only issues were: the lack of lighting in the rooms - not enough lights, and not enough wattage in those that were there; and, the lack of plugs in the rooms - could not, for example, charge my computer and iPhone at the same time without disconnecting lights (compounding the problem above). Given that it was the low season, the room and hotel were excellent value for money and I would definitely stay there again!
Perfect
Centrally located, comfortable, classy. Breakfast is marvelous, wide selection and excellent food...no complaints.
Hotel D'Angleterre - Best location in the city
Perfectly situated by Nyhavn and the Stroget, this hotel continues to be the choice of people like Oprah. Breakfast was wonderful. The smell of the wood-burning fire in the lobby was great. This and the spa with indoor pool, steam room, etc., was welcome relief from the snow. Staff was helpful, especially with a medical issue that required a doctor. Would highly recommend this hotel. It was a splurge, but well worth it.
The Hotel d'Angleterre in Copenhagen
We had an excellent stay. We were greeted courteously and the staff served us with alacrity. The concierge is knowledgeable and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. Our room was very large and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was also large with a big tub and lots of water pressure. Excellent bath amenities were provided, as well as fine bath towels and robes. The room was very quiet and private. The free breakfast buffet was nothing short of sumptuous. We expect to return on our next visit. We have stayed at many hotels in Copenhagen. None is better.
Great location, Beautiful Old Hotel
The Hotel Dangleterre is in a wonderful location, right near the sites and metro. My husband and I were in Copenhagen visiting our son who was studying there for the semester. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Overall, the service was pretty good, we were able to rent bikes through the hotel which was really convenient. We started out in a spacious room that was chilly, cold air blew through the vents. The hotel was hosting a a very large and loud party one evening until 2 am. We requested a room change which they did for us, the room was larger and warmer, still a bit noisy. My husband asked to have the manager call us the next morning but we never heard from her during our entire stay (5 nights), a bit disappointing. The breakfasts were very large and very good, they could use more wait staff though. The bar was nice and very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel for it's location and the service was pretty good although they could improve it a bit. We usually stay in smaller boutique hotels where there are less rooms and the service is impeccable.
Will go back and bring friends with me
The sense of affordable luxury. Quiet interior - note - thin walls between the rooms. Noble feeling of staying in a hotel with so many famous people over the 250y of service.
Hotel Dangleterre, Copenhagen
A littlebit dissapointed. Oldfashion style, was nice. Old-smokesmell in the room, not nice. The staff - ok - not very good. Breakfast - extremely good. Bed - very good. Location - extremely good.
Hotel D'Angleterre
The hotel was very conveniently located. The reception staff were very helpful. The food was excellent. We ate 1 dinner at the hotel and the food was well presented and tasty.. The breakfast buffet was varied and ample. The shower head in the bathroom was feeble and wouldn't maintain its position. We were there for 3 nights but had clothing for 2 weeks and there were not enough coat hangers, shelves or drawers for our clothes. For a 5 star hotel that is not acceptable. However, it did not bother us enough that we wanted to complain about it. Overall it was a good visit.
Hotel d'Angleterre - comfort in Copenhagen
Everything about this hotel is as you would expect for a 5* belle epoque hotel in a capital city. The staff were very helpful although the front desk staff didn't know it would only take 5 minutes for the boat to travel from Nyhaven to the opera house! The therapist in the spa was particularly good. Altogether I spent a comfortable week relaxing in the lap of luxury enjoying the ambiance of a city that I had never visited before. I hope to return before too long.
Loved this place and the location
the breakfast was great too with champagne every morning--classic old (almost 250 yrs old) hotel--nicely renovated and did i mention the breakfast is great
Sean .. darlinghurst
Its all noted above, the only complaint would be that the air conditioning was useless but everything else was excellent.
May return one day when road works finished
The hotel is in a perfect location for the shops and within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and other attractions, however the major civil engineering works outside the hotel do spoil the views from the restaurant. I could not fault the staff but was a bit disappointed with the room which I felt was not 5 star as the extractor did not work in the bathroom and on collecting my clothes from the wardrobe prior to checkout came across a soiled pair of ladies panties behind the room safe. I put them back and wondered how thoroughly the room was cleaned
Nice Hotel
Hotel was close to all of the sights and tours. Most everything was within about a ten to fifteen walk of the hotel. The breakfast was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definely stay here again.
Excessive street noise
While the hotel accommodations were excellent, the on-street cafe below our room was the site of loud, excessive noise that continued until 4 am. Needless to say, it was not a restful night.
Great location, great hotel
The Hotel D'Angleterre could not have been more convenient. The location is fantastic. We could walk to everything. The staff was extemely helpful and knowledgeable. We really had no complaints at all. Loved the place!
OK
The price for this hotel was way to high for what we recieved. The bedding was seperate blankets on a King size bed. The prices in the restaurant for what we recieved. The beakfast buffet was limited. The location was very good though & close to most of what Coppenhagen had to offer
One of the best hotels in the world!
From the minute we were collected from our taxi to the moment we left 5 days later, we were enchanted. The hotel was beautiful inside & out. The staff were very efficient & friendly, the breakfast was brilliant. I used the gym & swam in the pool twice - again a fantastic experience, and not too busy. There were roadworks outside, but it did not detract from the magic. What was especially fascinating was outside the lifts there was a wall of brass plaques for every famous person who has stayed at the hotel - actors, musicians, etc. The bedrooms were uniquely & beautifully decorated & furnished, and they were roomy. I had a fantastic view of the square (Kongens Nytorv) with the canal in the distance (Ny Havn). In the evening I loved watching the sun go down & the lights come on.
Can't wait to go back
This was our first visit to Copenhagen and was totally satisfied with the hotel. It may be over a 100-yrs old but they have definitely kept up with the times by providing all the amenities and comfort you would expect from a classy hotel, including free high speed internet (and it was high speed and wired). The food in both the bar and resturant was top notch. Great location and very helpful staff. Would definitely stay there again.
As good as it can come...
This hotel is centrally located close to the most of the poplular attractions. Just a couple of minutes of walking distance from the Metro. The fabulous Stroget street is right next to the hotel. Room service is overall excellent. My only complaint is that the breakfast is not as good as you expect from a 5-star hotel. It's more like a quick continental breakfast you can see from like Comfort Inn or of that scale. I guess that's a European standard. I recommend this hotel. Keep in mind that the rate is pretty pricy. I stayed 7 nites booked many months ahead and I got a hefty discount. Bon Voyage!
Hotel Dangleterre
Close to the harbor and all sights. Lovely hotel, delicious breakfast, and excellent staff.
The Dangelettere close to the exciting Nyhavn
An old hotel with a lot of charm in the heard of lovely Cobenhagen. The rooms are old, but ok. The restaurant is and breakfast was pretty good, but way not renovate the restaurant. The restaurant is really dark and look like an old brown cafe.
Excellent hotel with outstanding service, and great location.
Copenhagen
The location is great and the hotel was perfect in everyway. We stayed after a cruise and enjoyed it very much. I normally don't like buffets, but their morning buffet was great. The shopping is all around but from the US was expensive. The river tour just across from the hotel is a must and very reasonable.
Great location and good value for the price
The Dangleterre could not be better located. Many would say the hotel has character (a nice way of saying old); however, it has been nicely modernized within the context of smaller rooms that can't be changed. The breakfast which was included with the room was spectacular. The choice and quantity were there, making us wishing at lunch time we could go back for more. The hotel is located right on the main walking street and close to many wonderful restaurants (Krogs Fisherestaurant, only a five minute walk, is a must go to place for a spectacular dinner). Tivoli and everything else of importance is a short walk. And thanks for the discounted price which made it a great deal.
Do Not Stay at Hotel D'Angleterre
A terrible experience. We hated staying here. The hotel staff does not care about the many service problems we and other guests were having.
Very cosy and quite nice rooms. Bathrooms still a bit old. Breakfast OK but personnel not very smily.
I have stayed here twice before and is my #1 choice in Copenhagen. Service and accommodations exceed expectations in a very expensive city. I get a complimentary upgrade without asking each time as available. Breakfast is amazing. Location can't be beat. The only drawback is since it is in a very central location, noise all night long from the street can be irritating. There are many bars and clubs so a lot of rowdy people out late. That being said, it it better than staying near Tivoli/Train Station because then you listen to loud music and gangs of people. All in all, a superb and reliable choice to stay in Copenhagen. But try to get a good rate since it is very expensive otherwise.
D'Angleterre Hotel
The Location of the hotel is probably the best in Copenhagen. The hotel has a beautiful facade and an even more impressive foyer and entrance. This hides somewhat dated rooms and some maintenance issues in the rooms. The rooms however were very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were on a spring rate so the value was good. If you can get a suitable rate I would recommend this hotel .
Traditional hotel with excellent staff and great breakfast. Proximity to Metro (and it's easy access to Airport) made coming and going very convenient. Would plan to stay there again when in Copenhagen.
The hotel should be renovate
The hotel should be renovate The hotel is located in the heart of the city, and the surrounding is excellent. Although the hotel is one of the oldest in Copenhagen, I think that now is time to change all furniture and interiors in the rooms. For what I had paid, I would have expected to find a really 5 stars hotel, for me this hotel should be classified 4 stars, and for the bad smell that I breathed in the corridor while I was walking to my room even 3 stars. My room had the back view of the hotel, which it was terrible and the toilette was really uncomfortable and cold. In my opinion the overall rating for this hotel is between 3 or 4. The hotel is expensive and the quality is very low. I would not recommend this hotel.
Excellent Hotel with History
I chose this hotel by searching "hotels with indoor swimming pool" and this hotel showed up. Turned to be one of the classical and most distinguished hotel. Though surrounding area was under construction of extention of subway station and not appealing as it should be, location was excellent. All points of interest were actually within walking distance of less than a mile. With good walking shoes, walking all the way in all direction gives you the initimate feelings to local people/shop/vendors. Hotel facility (incl. pool) was great. People were friendly and kind. Breakfast? EXCELLENT!
Great Hotel
The Hotel was very nice, I would definetly recommend it. Hotels are expensive in Denmark we stayed at a 3 star hotel in another city for the same price we booked Hotel Dangleterre for at Expedia. The Hotel is in an excellent part of Copenhagen, close to Nyhaven and shoppping. Eating in the Hotel was expensive also, but lots of resturants close by. We had a great trip.
Lovely old hotel in great neighborhood.
The hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful with all our needs, including sight-seeing, directions and restaurant reservations. The room was very pretty in an "old world" style and was and comfortable, tho the beds were a mite soft. It is in a great neighborhood and was very convenient for seeing beautiful Copenhagen.
This Is What Luxury Is!!
I do not know what anyone else would expect to not give this hotel 5 stars. My room was clean and though it was a single was large and spacious. Plush bed and beautifully decorated. Ethernet or wifi was both great. Nightly turn down service, great hot buffet, always willing to help, perfect location, I would only stay here if ever back in Copenhagen. Great but little pricey by US standareds for massage but great just the same. The only issue was that there was limited english speaking tv so thought there would have been more on sateilite.
Copenhagen's best
One of the best hotel stays ever. The complimentary breakfast a great idea.
Copenhagen best hotel
I have stayed in the best hotels all over the world, but D'Angleterre, was the most comfortable, very friendly staff, I will be going back there.
Superb service, a lot of class, great location!
D'angelterre was top recommendation in the "Lonely Planet" guide book, but was not top rated by online hotel reviews. I was wondering if there was something wrong with it given that it is such a famous historical hotel. There is nothing wrong with it - it is a great hotel if you want traditional high class and do not want the newest furniture and appliances. The lobby is beautiful with fresh flowers and classy furniture. The service was superb. For example, a light bulb needed to be changed. We did not tell anybody about the problem (just forgot). By the time we got back to the hotel from a day's walk, it was changed. The staff is very nice and keeps asking if they can help us further. The location is unbeatable - it is in the middle of one of the most beautiful squares and next to the water terminal for touristy stuff. The main pedestrian streets is right behind the hotel. The evening bars/dinner district of Nyhavn (new harbor) is steps away. It is also next door to the metro station. On a negative side: The fixtures and the beds are in good,v ery clean condition but not new - they emphasize classic old over new. The mattress is very soft (I liked it, but not sure about others). The prices for all extras are extremely high - Internet was $30.00 per day. All the food is expensive but my sense is that this is true for all top Copenhagen hotels. Hotel restaurant charges about 90 Euro for a pre-fix dinner. This seems to be similar to other high-priced restaurants, but there no other cheaper choice inside the hotel. There are plenty of food venues outside the hotel, including an underground supermarket in the metro station next door. Overall, I would stay here again. The beauty of the deco, the service, and the location are unbeatable.
beautiful hotel in prime location
perfect location for Central Copenhagen. Hotel is beautiful with all you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Staff were friendly and not at all stuffy. Breafast not included and very expensive!
Outstanding Hotel
Sit back and drink in 250 years of history. The D'Angleterre is one of the oldest hotels in the world. Superbly situated at the top of the pedestrian shopping street and near the Nyhan where all the restaurants are, you can't go wrong. It is expensive. However, it is a lovely old hotel with a fabulous modern pool, whirlpool and spa on the lower level. Breakfast is not affordable, however, a nearby cafe is reasonable and excellent. It was a pleasure to stay at the D'Angleterre
hotels can make or break a vacation.....this hotel made it spectacular
This hotel is gorgeous..one of the prettiest buildings in copenhagen and directly across from the harbor pictured in the tourist books. The pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi were fabulous. The beds were so comfortable. I have never said repeatedly, "I love this hotel" about any other hotel. If you go to Copenhagen and can afford this price range, stay here.
Outstanding hotel
Very gracious staff willing to do anything to accomodate you. Breakfast was superb - location was excellent. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom large but old fashioned tub and plumbing could use some updating. Otherwise great!
Great hotel great location
D'Angleterre is a historic old hotel which gives it much charm, but at the same time the interior has kept up with time, the rooms are well equipped with really good sound proofing (for example double doors out to the hallway, great idea, wish more hotels would copy that). There is some sound coming up from the street below, but it is manageable. Great location, especially with the metro line just outside the hotel that can take you straight to the airport.
Copenhagen's best!
I had an excellent stay at the Hotel Danglettere. My booking confirmation indicated that a small single twin bed room was available. When I arrived I was given a large room with a queen size bed and a window view. The staff was top notch, very accomnadating. Location is excellent, 1 block away from the metro, which is great if you are coming in via the airport(everything else is within walking distance.
Couldn't be happier
Great location, next to Stroget & Nyhavn, classy decor however we didn't get breakfast included (which is pretty much standard everywhere in Scandinavia) so we settled for one of the many cheap bakeries all around. Overall a woderful experience.
Rip Off and Not even a 3 star Hotel
The place is owned by a Icelandic company and is apparently badly in a no cash situation- The hotel is worn out, beat up and the guest rooms are falling apart- The superior room I paid for in advance, which I tried to get changed when I saw it, had multiple pieces of furniture in disrepair including, no bureau at all, nightstand with drawers falling off, nicks all over the wood and painted surfaces and peeling stained wall paper, poor lighting, rug worn down to the backing and worst of all, a view of a interior court yard with netting over it to catch dead birds before they hit sky lights below. There were 3 dead birds visible out my only window and the drapery tie backs were broken to boot. The AC is non existent and it was hot during my total of 6 nites which cost a fortune and were not comfortable. The bed was horrible too. Beside at great location-avoid this rip off until it gets a complete re-do
Could have been better
The Hotel D'angleterre is in a wonderful neighborhood and has beautiful public rooms, however the guest rooms are very small and don't really have the elegant appearance that one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Also, the public rooms are not air conditioned. After a long day sightseeing, I would have loved to unwind at the bar, but it was just too hot. The concierge staff was a bit arrogant as well.
not impressed
for a hotel rewarded with five stars, we didnt think it measured up to those qualifications very accurately. the carpet and ceiling had major water damages and the furniture in the room was falling apart and had stains all over them. yes, the location itself was probably the only best thing about the hotel...but other than that, we believe its closer to a 2 1/2 to 3 star hotel. also, our experience with poor customer service and false guided information from both the employees and management has ruined our vacation completely. we were charged for an extra night (plus tax) even though we had already checked out and were in another city by the time. i didnt notice the extra charge on my card until we got home to the US and by then, the hotel refused to refund us again. we tried to call and call to get management to understand the mistake the hotel had made, but they refused to hear or work out the situation. i dont recommend this hotel to others, because i worry that they might experience the same things we did. it was a complete nightmare!!!!
covenient for shopping
Good for shopping as the location of the hotel is great. Value for money, not really.
good location; spotty service
excellent location; some staff very pleasant and helpful; others bordering on rude and completely unhelpful. all in all not the first class service you might expect from this class of hotel, especially one with such a history and fame.
Wonderful Stay
Beautiful hotel in a great location for sightseeing and shopping. The breakfast buffet was overpriced at $70 for 2 people. The pool downstairs was a wonderful way to end the day.
Luxury??
The view from our bedroom was a roof top and a skylight. There were no drawers in the room, not one. Monday night I killed a roach in the bathroom and left it there purposely, thursday when we left, it was still in the same place, in plain view. We were asked to aid the ecology by not changing towels every day, we complied but we really would have liked the maid to hang them in the towel rack. Sadley we chose the night of a national holiday to dine in the hotel restaurant and the had only one waiter to tend bar an wait on tables.
Historic Hotel in excellent location
This is an elegant old hotel comparable to some Fairmont hotels in Calgary or Vancouver only with more history behind it. We had a feature room and although it was large- almost twice as large as a standard room- unless you feel you must have the extra space I would recommend going for the standard room and use the money saved for other things- such as food. Copenhagen is very expensive with a VAT of 25%. The breakfast offers a good variety of quality items but dinner in the hotel restaurant (Danish/French) is very expensive. Better values can be found elsewhere. On a positive note the location of the hotel is perfect- walk in one direction and you are on the lengthy shopping/pedestrian street; walk the other way and you are at the scenic harbour.

Best choice in Copenhagen
Clearly the finest hotel in Copenhagen, I wouldn't stay anywhere else! It is not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. We only stayed one night to cap off the holiday visit, but will definitely stay here next time. The drinks in the bar were great and we enjoyed dinner as well.
