Hotels.com are not fair
The hotel was OK my problem is with hotels.com on hotels.com site it is said that check in is on 14:00 while the hotel called and told us that check in is from 18:00. On hotels.com it is stated that all prices include taxes and the hotel charged us extra 17% on Vat.
Great location and very large property. Parts of it seem run down
It was very nice there
I would have had a better experience had they offered an American meal on Sabbath. It’s so restrictive. I celebrate sabbath but I follow the holy Bible which allows me to have meat and cheese. Blessings in Yeshuas name.
Staff of the hotel were very nice and caring but rooms were dirty with old and dirty carpets and in some areas it was burned with iron.
It’s a beautiful and calm
Up and downs
I did not like using two different elevators to go to breakfast, one goes 6 -up and the other goes 6 - down because they are on a slope. We waited for the gifts to to open at 8:30 and had our cab wait because we had 3 post cards to mail, at 8:45 they had not shown up and we had to leave. I was not happy! Otherwise it was the best hotel of the 3 we stayed at.
I would not stay at this property again. I did not encounter a single friendly or welcoming member of the staff. I was in an unrenovated room across from rooms being renovated and the construction people acted like I was in their way going to my room.
Great hotel which has been superb in times past. Food is great. Location and design is great. Some rooms are frayed
Excellent stay
Excellent hotel with excellent service
Great facility. Good breakfast. The gym, pool and steam room were very big and spacious.
Convenient with Pool
Really nice hotel, convenient to the Hebrew University Mt. Scopus and many bus lines. Indoor and outdoor pool.
They can improve a lot in customer service.
Be aware that check in on Saturdays and holidays after 8 pm! Service was a problem. The stuff was not nice. I left my new AirPods Pro in the room. When I came back, the housekeeping lady already finished the room. And my AirPods are gone. NOBODY in the hotel took my request to find them seriously. Neither security or the front desk manager. So if you want to stay there, don’t leave any valuable staff. Nobody even called me back to express their concerns.
the room that we got was different than you offerd here and worse of all; we has to pay another 400 shekels for it. becides that every thing was good
Staff was accommodating, though not everyone were nice, and sometimes even unpleasant. I would like to send special thanks to the wonderful cleaning staff.
Nice hotel. Great staff. Leaking toilet in middle of the night caused a room change at 0200. I offered to fix myself but no tools available and no maintenance men to call up. Stressed to staff that whole room would flood. Apart from that, good place.
Terrible customer service
I liked that it was close to Hebrew University. I did not like the extremely long wait any time I needed to speak to someone at the lobby desk.
Very clean and safe Room was excellent
Excellent Hotel. The front desk staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was wonderful and clean.
Beautiful views, clean
Wow better than expected!! Staff was incredibly helpful and extremely friendly.
Very disappointing experience Upon return June 5 Got perhaps most distant room With poor view and noisy traffic Couldn’t find hidden A/C controls, refrig not working Other issues Beautiful architecture Inconsistent amenities Poor service Mediocre buffet
Beautiful property
It was a beautiful and spacious hotel! The room was excellent and we loved the shower! I also liked the sitting area and fridge.A The best was the most amazing buffet breakfast (included in the price) every morning! Spectacular
Beautiful building, outside and inside. However the lounge chairs and sofas on fourth floor are very uncomfortable. I believe they are missing cushions. Breakfast is excellent with a vast variety of choices. Staff is mostly very friendly. Definitely recommend.
Excellent, staff is very friendly and helpful. All amenities are excellent clean and spacious. Great hotel
did not get the room that was promised
the room in the pictures did not match the room we got. the room that was offerd was very bad and not sutebale for stay. we were asked to pay more money for a new room and since we were with kids we were left with no other option. the rooms are not appropriate for stay the are blow any standard .
Geared to tours, but first-rate service and rooms
We were there in slow period right after Christmas. On check in they upgraded us to a room overlooking the old city from the top floor. All the service was courteous and helpful. Dinner is a large buffet operation. Pretty decent and large selection for about 150 shekels. This hotel is in a quiet neighborhood (Ammunition Hill) near university so there is no place nearby to eat if you come back before dinner. About 30-40shekel cab ride to gates of old city or walk 12 minutes to Ammunition Hill stop of light rail and ride 3 stops to the gate of old city. Most rooms have a nice balcony, but view depends on the floor and direction.
Nice place. Great staff. Parking facility good. Walkable to other restaurants.
Overpriced for a very old hotel
The hotel is very old, and overpriced for the comfort. Everything is old. I was expecting a much nicer hotel for the price. The breakfast was really good.
Unexpected Gem
We kept extending our stay! Great gym and amazing breakfast
Beautiful hotel.. very large.. all the facilities.. pool spa.. just far from centre
Decent place to stay
Very poor checking in service, room had a strong chemical smell. Changed rooms and all was fine after that. Great breakfast buffet. Spa is ok too.
One of the best hotels I stayed during my time in Jerusalem . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager, and we were upgraded to the Executive Suite.“Breakfast was amazing, staff were super friendly and location was excellent. Pool was nice “ Highly recommended place.”
Quite OK
In general the staying was quite good , the location is great as well as the view and yet , the air conditioning in the room had an airplane noise at the lowest fan level , the bathroom door was rotten Ata it’s hinges and the dining room service was far from a smiling service experienced
Great service
Good service and the manager is really good.
Fabulous stay and value
Great people and service not close to restaurants but very very nice hotel.
Installations need to be upgrade they look to old.
2nd experience. BAD. Yelling loudly in Arabic.
Business stay. Internet slow. Overall you hear through the hotel load service people yelling loudly in Arabic for no reason. They don't care about privacy and txt message you. NO AC which made the stay in the room and sleeping there very hard!! Avoid this hotel if you require AC. The room with the balcony had mainly a view of the ugly roof which I have no idea why management doesn't paint it with a Jerusalem theme or grass it. Reception desk was cooperative. Breakfast has a very large selection but the guy preparing the eggs doesn't speak English and the service people yelling in Arabic with their hands in the air is not so professional... the tables were never set properly or cleaned as needed.
AVOID. NO AC. Expensive.
Free parking is great but not instead of AC which made the stay in the room and sleeping there very hard. Avoid this hotel if you require AC. The room with the balcony had mainly a view of the ugly roof which I have no idea why management doesn't paint it with a Jerusalem theme or grass it. I also got text messed without giving my permission to it. Otherwise, the reception desk was cooperative. Breakfast has a very large selection but the guy preparing the eggs doesn't speak English and the service people yelling in Arabic with their hands in the air is not so professional... the tables were never set properly or cleaned as needed. Overall you hear through the hotel load service people yelling loudly in Arabic for no reason.
Overall was great
Nice staff. Great to have parking free of charge. Amazing breakfast. Rooms needs a little bit of work. . .
The Front Desk Gentlemen were always extremely polite and helpful. We look forward to staying there again.
I loved staying here for what was supposed to be 9 nights however there was some problem with the online booking with Expedia and I was supposed to stay for 9 nights but I was called by the hotel front desk asking when I was checking on on the 8th night! I showed them my booking and they said the booking was for 8 nights not 9 that was showing on my Expedia booking. I did not know what to do and they wanted to charge me $186 for 1 night after I had already spent $1,500 with them. The assistant manager Muhammad was condescending and unhelpful and threatened to charge me for a late checkout if I didn’t remove my belongings. I said the cost was not part of what I had intended before booking the hotel and that I would be forced to find another hotel last minute for 1 night. I ended up having to walk 40 minutes to the Ritz Hotel with all my bags..I had also booked other services that was offered inside the hotel so I had spent close to $2,000 and to suddenly be treated like a 2nd class citizen was shocking to say the least. I am still waiting for a response from the manager and would like some form of compensation for the treatment given.
Good quality hotel little pricey but good hotel to stay at
Everything old outdated.they gave us room all away in end of 5th floor and it takes you about 5 min get to elevator.looks like booking thru expedia is downgrade you overall
Israel’s big hotel brand doesn’t meet the mark
Check in was good - The rooms (we had 2) were poor - literally 1970’s decor. Noisy air conditioning which has to be on in tne warm seasons. Complimentary water bottles only included for first day (come on...) We arrived Friday night - totally respect Shabbat customs but staff were vague in the extreme when it came to suggesting where we could eat locally.
Friendly staff, lovely facilities, great breakfast service
Comfortable Executive rooms - v busy breakfasts
A trip to see family in the local area so very convenient for us but a way out of town for the sights of Jerusalem. The light railway is convenient and fast into downtown Jerusalem. The hotel’s executive rooms are very comfortable and well appointed with balconies overlooking Jerusalem. Worth investing in those as other rooms and corridors are quite tired and need refurbishment The Executive Lounge was very quiet but service was excellent particularly from Ariella. Breakfast in the dining room offers great choice and Abel helped my husband who needs gluten free options but the experience was spoilt by the overwhelming number of large tour groups who make it very difficult for the individual guests no matter what time you go down in the morning! Perhaps the Executive Lounge should offer a limited buffet for their guests who wish to have a relaxing start to the day as in most Lounges. However, a lovely stay and we will definitely return each time we visit our family.
Great cooperative staff
The hotel staff was great. When I couldn’t get back before the normal checkout time, I just called and arranged a later checkout time and there was no fuss and no extra charge. It was great.
I have to say that it was a very good weekend good service beautiful hotel and gorgeous view I will recommend dan hotel Jerusalem to all my friends and family thank you:))
Closest nice hotel to our children
This was the third time we have stayed at the Dan Jerusalem, which is the closest hotel to Neve Yaakov, where our children live - about a 13-minute drive. We have been satisfied with the hotel, its staff, the room and amenities, including a very nice breakfast buffet, on each of our stays. In addition, we had the dinner buffet on two nights of our stay, and found the variety, quality and tastiness of the food to be very good. It is likely that we will stay at the Dan Jerusalem again.
A hotel good for tours, but a questionable for oth
It is a good hotel for tour groups, but it only offers one very limited menu restaurant outside of the $50 dollar buffet at night. I ate pasta 3 for nights. It has no other restaurants within walking distance. Also, the outdoor pool was not open despite the 80+ weather which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel. It did have a great gym and a nice view. Make sure you buy extra water or be prepared to pay $6 a bottle.
“Renovated”
Not really, a little shabby! People in food an beverage looked and acted like they didn’t want to be there but we had a very warm welcome to the hotel. Our checkout was not great as they hit us with an vat tax which we were advised only at checkout.
Great hotel
Great hotel with view of the city. Only comment is that it is not close to any restaurants, take aways etc for meals and far from the city if you want to see the Old City and other central sights.
Great hotel to stay.
The staff was amazing, very generous and nice. I was very pleased with having a parking place for my car.
Excellent hotel. 10 min drive to old city! Excellent staff very helpful !!! Loved my room view ! Could not leave my balcony.
Great location
I was excited about the hotel and my experience in Jerusalem. To be able to walk the streets and share in the flow it was great
Dated, overpriced hotel
On the surface the hotel looks great - lovely reception and pool area but the rooms are in a terrible state. I was staying on the 1st floor - my room had holes in the ceiling, shoddy workmanship everywhere and to top it all off, got an electric shock on plugging in the TV. Room was not as pictured at all! Poor chambermaid service - quick bed make and thats it. Also, make your complimentary bottle of water last your whole stay - it is not replaced. There is also no minibar or room service despite the description. Maybe Israel is just very expensive but for the price paid (over £160 per night) I expect a lot more - have stayed in far better Travelodge hotels! The staff at check-in were rude and on trying to check out, had to wake the night staff up (sleeping on the job)! Stay somewhere else or expect a shabby room.
Hotel staff attitude were bad!
When i check out, i asked about deposit release, and the staff said, he cant check for me because i check out 30secound ago. The reason i requested bout it, b/c they took two time deposit, but he said it was not from them with out check with accountant. And he said he is professional so he knows and yet I insisted him to check with accountant and he found out i was right and yet he didnt admit he was wrong and his unprofessional attitude toward me. I paid $190, and yet their sevice worth only $1.90!!
Great view and amazing breakfast!
We enjoyed our stay at Dan Jerusalem. this hotel has the most amazing view. Get the breakfast buffet, excellent!!! My only complaint is the wifi. It is terrible.
Extraordinary Hospitality
We had a great experience at this hotel are only complaint was that the air conditioner did not work in our room and it was very hot. I guess other guests had the same complaint because they ran out of fans the first tonight but we did manage to snag one for the next nights. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. They truly know how to make their guests feel at home at the start of the day.
Electrical issues in our room marred an otherwise excellent stay. Breakfast was brilliant....as usual
Fine place but not that comfortable for the price.
Very good service, the rooms are a little old
Great service at the spa, but the hotel is a little old
I'll stay somewhere else on my next trip.
They were having some air conditioning issues and we went through about five rooms before we found a room with air conditioning that worked. I had requested a high floor room which they did not give us despite the fact that I had ordered a suite and spent a little extra to get something nice. Unfortunately the room with air conditioning that worked had no view and was three levels below the reception area. Probably about 1/2 the hotel is 1/2 underground.
This didnt live up to the promotional material !
This was a family pool holiday with young children so the pool was really important. However, the photo was deceiving and the pool was not as grand or as nice as the photo made it look. Also the pool was in need of repair with the tiles in the pool coming away and for some reason they had not grouted the titles properly so they were sharp on your feet and very uncomfortable. The Life Guards were really overzealous with laying down the law with rules that were not published. This made it a very unwelcoming experience and put a damper on the main holiday activity. I had to complain. The food for a 5* hotel was average. The room although the beds were made was left untidy. Also the hotel is way out from the main centre so taxis were expensive for trips although we eventually found out there was a tram nearby and that made trip much more reasonable. 2 days before we left they decided to close the cafe and lounge area and rip up the carpet which was strange. The next issue was leaving and asking reception to book us a return taxi to the airport. The hotel instead of providing a service to their guest wanted to rip them off by adding on a 100-shekel admin fee to the taxi fare which I complained about and they eventually retracted. We have stay in a number of hotels in Israel and this is meant to be a 5* hotel - really it is a low 4* and only gets their star rating because they provide facilities - however are the facilities up to the standard of a 5* hotel not in my opinion.
it was a very good hotel, the service was good and they always came towards you.
Wonderful Hotel Staff very helpful. Breakfast wonderful
Beautiful hotel with beautiful lobby and pool area
Check in was a little long in that we hadron hangs rooms 3 times until we had one with air conditioning and hot water. Each room was an increase in quality and comfort until ultimately we were in an executive room on the top floor with an excellent view of Jerusalem The management was very apologetic and very eager to please I sure this was a complete unfortunate situation butt hey we're very helpful If possible Try to upgrade to an executive room. The slight increase in fee is well worth it Although out of the way of the old city a short walk to the light rail takes you right to the Jaffa or Damascus gates and all shopping areas
A pampering place outside of the Old City
Dan Jerusalem has been an excellent home base for our travels in Israel. To get to the Old City you can drive, ask the hotel to call a cab or take a short walk to access the light rail. The light rail is only 3 stops to Jaffa Gate.If you're driving, it is easy to connect to highways to explore northern and southern Israel. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean with many offering wonderful views of the Old City. Since we live in a busy city, it was nice to be away from the crowds. Want to relax? Try the hammam while you're here.
Will go again
Hotel was lovely and breakfast was amazing hotel bar didn't stay open late so coming back after being out there was nowhere to get a drink but otherwise pool was good and room lovely. We paid extra for exec lounge and it was great lovely food newspapers and good atmosphere
GREAT HOTEL
GOOD HOTEL JUST OUTSIDE THE CITY ... EASY ACCESS TO THE CITY USING THE LITE RAIL WHICH IS REGULAR AND CHEAP ABOUT £1.20PP FASCILITIES VERY GOOD, FOOD EXCELLANT, HAD AN EXECUTIVE ROOM WITH ACCESS TO THE EXECUTIVE LOUNGE ... DEFINATELEY WORTH THE EXTRA COSTS AS THE FOOD IN THE LOUNGE WAS VERY GOOD... WOULD STAY AGAIN IN THIS HOTEL
Nice Hotel, A bit old but good spirit
this is our second time in this hote. the advantages in this hotel are the swimming pool and the food. either breakfast, Lunch or dinner- the food is very very good a high standards and staff are great. swimming pool is in nice size and very fun for the kids.
Nice big hotel, clean big poll and plenty of Food
The staff was great, quick check in. A big variety of tasty food. Overall great value for a one night stay in the Holly land
employees were rude. refused to give towels at the gym and argued that they did not have towels when there was a pile of towels few steps away. Email the manager about it and requested that I will receive towels the day following day - NO RESPONSE!!!
good services
it was greate every thing was good, can't complain
My favorite hotel in Jerusalem
Overall very good experience. The only hotel in Jerusalem with trained and courteous staff
Great Hotel, Great Setting
I stayed for 11 days while visiting at nearby Hebrew University on the Mt. Scopus campus. Great views of Jerusalem- of Mt. Scopus and Mt of Olives! Not in immediate tourist area but easy quick access to Old City and center city sites via taxi or the light rail (Ammunition Hill stop). Can walk to nearby French Hill shopping area for supermarket and local eateries that serve the students of Hebrew U.
Nice choice
friendly staff and manager at reception really really great manager in resturant caring and hospitable Steam room in spa and showers can be sometimes untidy
Quality hotel in Jerusalem
It was a quality hotel, beautiful and clean. The management was very friendly and helpful. The staff was also efficient and ready to help. The only complaint I had was that it was not close to the old city and the 'free shuttle' service that was promised didn't run. Also the kids club that was advertised was only operational one day.
Good business trip
Good hotel lounge needs a bit updating and more food selection.
Very enjoyable. Service in bar restaurant a little slow
Stay somewhere else for a lower price
Spent what I thought was a lot to stay in what I thought would be a first class hotel. I was disappointed from the first interaction. Several weeks before I arrived I was told not to worry about making reservations for dinner there (holiday eve) and could do it upon check in. When I arrived I was told there was no room at dinner and I shoukd have done it weeks ago. When I explained that I tried, I was dismissed. After talking to 2 other people someone helped us "squeeze" into a $80 per person dinner, which was bountiful but lacked quality. Once there we were told it did not include regular wine (sweet Magen David type wine was provided in a small bottle). The facilities are in need of renovation. The rooms are dated and dingy. There was one reachable electric outlet. Dust was on all surfaces, and the blow dryer was broken. At checkin we were told we were upgraded to a room we had actually ordered ?!? Hallways were cluttered with trash throughout our stay. The grounds themselves (pool/lawn/spa) were tidy but not in the best condition - grass patchy, pool w old tiles, and spa looked like a1980s gym. Towels we're thin and bare. I was not expecting the David Tower but for over $400 a night I was expecting better accommodations. On a positive note - the wait staff was kind and helpful in the dining too. Will not be recommending or returning.
A little far away, kind of rude, and a rip off
Certain members of the staff were somewhat rude and off putting but not all. The location is kind of far from the old city but is close to the highway. The food prices are way too high considering that the food was just mediocre.
Nice hotel but rooms need updating.
Overall, very pleasant stay. Location is in east Jerusalem around the corner from Mount Scopus but very far from everything else. Dinner buffet was fantastic one night and very mediocre the next. Breakfast excellent every day. Rooms need updating.
Great value
Excelent value for money, friendly staff and nice food (had the breakfast only)
needs to be renovated
Hotel decoration is a bit old needs to be renewed. In swimming pool area lots of thrown empty plastic bottles or glasses, on children play area little peaces of broken glass...is staff only cleaning in the evening? A bit surprising for a hotel of this category. Enjoyed very much our stay in jerusalem but a bit disappointed by the hotel.
the location is not very good, not in the center. the room was old and not big enough for a family. the pool and tha breakfast are great. the kids loved it, but i think that the hotel is not good enough to be a5 stars hotel.
Great place in Jerusalem- excellent Value
Great hotel neat Hebrew University. It's in a residential area but within walking distance of grocery and coffee shops, and there is a falafel stand a few steps away. It's also only a short cab ride to the Old City. Hotel includes free parking and lavish breakfast. I was in an economy room and did not find the bed super comfy as in other rooms I've stayed in before. Great pool and exercise room.
Disappointed stay
I wrote to the Chairman Michael Federmann. I told him my experience at the hotel. If you can do something for me I will tell you in detail what happened, otherwise I won't tell you.
Good value for money, big room, good breakfast, good staff, great swimming pool
Nice comfortable stay
Nice comfortable stay. A bit out of the way to all city has to offer. Service was terrific, very spacious room, always clean and made up early. Phenomenal breakfast with super variety of delicacies.
We got very small room. No view. The bed was acctully two single beds that wasn't the same hight. The table leg was rotten. It was very disapointing. We ask to change room and luckly it was possible and we got a very nice room, much bigger and with king size bed and besutiful view. We had only breakfast and the food was exelante!!!
Beautifully situated, overlooking Jerusalem
I checked in at 2:00 Friday and received an upgraded room which was lovely with a great view. It was a bit small but appointments were tasteful and the room spotless. The hotel was bustling on the Shabat and was observant of Jewish dietary traditions. There were a couple of groups who were celebrating at private functions and we got to see very fashionably dressed and bejewelled Isralis enjoying their friends and family. There was a fabulous Shabat buffet Friday evening and a wonderful dairy buffet breakfast each morning. The Health Club is large, with gym, exercise studio, machines and warm pool. The classes were fun as was the large outdoor pool. Lots of people including people on tour. The staff are obliging and we met people from Jerusalem who belong to the health club which was a lot of fun. Overall this is a great hotel. The staff are sophisticated and make everyone welcome.
VERY VERY GOOD
IT IS A GREAT HOTEL IN JERUSALEM COMPARABLE TO THE KING DAVID BUT A LITTLE OUT OF TOWN
Excellent service
We stayed at the Dan for three nights and were extremely impressed with the quality of service. We are familiar with the hotel as over many years we have either stayed there or used the facilities while staying with family nearby. It was originally the Hyatt then declined under the Regency brand. Since Dan took it over it is restored to its former glory. Talking to staff, this seems to be due to the quality of training.
Good location
Everything was fine. There was no complains. Specially reception staff was nice and helpful.
