I want you to know that all their service staff are ready to help and assist. The outstanding service staff are Isaac, Gabriel, Mary Zhu, and countless others. THE HOTEL ENVIRONMENT HAS A VERY CHARMING AMBIANCE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL, AND I WILL BE BACK TO STAY THERE AGAIN IF I GO TO SHANGHAI.
Comfortable
What a way to end our trip
We loved Shanghai. Our first leg we stayed near the bund and this time we thought we’d stay near Nanjing road. Firstly. Staff here are amazing, they were so great with the kids and really helped with when we arrived slightly before check in. Gave us an amazing room with a great view of the Shanghai skyline. Was an older style hotel, but so clean and comfortable. One of the best of the trip. The location is awesome. If you wanted to you can walk to to the bund, there’s thousands and I mean it, options to est around the hotel and realistically we had two kids (5 & 2) and walked everywhere from here. Everything felt like it was 30-45 away walking and it was very convenient. Our next trip to Shanghai (which we are considering going again next year) we will definitely be staying here again.
The hotel is very well-located, on one end of the Nanjing Pedestrian Street.
Thanks for the Jain Vegetarian food arranged
Shopping right around the corner
Great location
Visit
Great location, enjoyed the stay. Good breakfast.
Property with no comfort for Business Traveller st
I won't rate this as a five start hotel. Windows are not douboe glazed fir which there was noise coming from busy street. Moreover, air conditioning does not work below 26 degrees, I couldn't sleep first night and was advised to switch off A/C and run a standing fan for air circulation. Finally, I moved out one day earlier but they have refused to cancel the last night and asked for CNY 1000 for early departure. I am unable to accept this property as CRIWN PLAZA chain from my experience.
Excellent choice
It’s very pleasant. The location is perfect. The room is clean and quiet. The only problem is that there are 2 steps in the grand entrance.
It was excellent experience
Convenience and good value for the price
Convenient
Very convenient to shopping and transit.
Year end holiday
Good stay, convenient with amenities food transport nearby. Recommended.
The hotel is in a good location and provides easy access to popular landmarks such as The Bund and People's Square. It also provides good-quality amenities and room services.
The location of the hotel is very convenient. There is no lack of food option, shopping places and metro is close by. Will stay again if coming to Shanghai again.
Very nice hotel, handy location and right in the middle of Nanjing Road shopping district. Short walk to the Bund. staff are friendly and helpful. Room is very spacious and comfortable.
JUST A VERY OLD HOTEL WITH NO UPKEEP MAKING FOOL OF PEOPLE AS LOCATION IS GOOD FOR TOURIST
Nice location and the hotel staff was really nice and helpful.
The location is perfect and convenient for tourists however the room is quite old and the heater was too hot the a/c system run the same temp for a whole building, we have to open the window instead and that cause a noisy problem
Great location. Unfortunately the room and probably the whole hotel was very hot. There was no way to turn the AC on since it is disabled for the winter. This seems to be a common denominator across all hotels in the area, I don’t think it is unique to this one. So I had to open a window. However, It was small window with a very tiny crack. It took more than a day to cool off. The first night was as hot as an oven and very uncomfortable. Sleeping was not an option. Second night it was heaven.
Located at heart of Shanghai! Busy area loaded with shops, department stores, and restaurants.
Perfect start to our trip
We spent three nights at the Crowne Plaza at the beginning of our trip to China, and it was fantastic. Highlights: Prime Location: The hotel is ideally located right next to Nanjing Road, making it easy to explore the area on foot. It’s also within walking distance of the iconic Bund, which was a major plus. Local Breakfast Options: Instead of the hotel’s buffet, we enjoyed trying Chinese breakfast items from nearby street shops off Nanjing Road. There are also numerous coffee shops in the area for a quick caffeine fix. Exceptional Service: The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. Stunning City Views: Our room offered a spectacular view of the city, including the Bund, which made our stay even more memorable. Overall: The Crowne Plaza was a fantastic choice for kicking off our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend it.
Meng Yan Yan our cleaner was exceptionally helpful and attended to every need during our stay. She was very friendly as well
I will stay the hotel when I am travelling to Shanghai next time
Your usual international hotel with no extra
I've been travelling around a few cities in China before checking in to this hotel. First, check in was really slow. Room was pretty standard of an international hotel. Nothing more nothing less. Housekeeping was minimal. Showercap was not replaced even though it was lost on the first day so my girl had to shower without a shower cap on the next few days. For some reasons she couldn't wash her hair during that few days so it was very inconvenient. Ran out of toothpaste too. There are a lot more local hotels that are high tech, better service and at half the price . So totally NOT worth the amount paid. But if you are looking for nice bed and good location, this hotel fulfils the requirements.
This Crowe Plaza on Nanjing road is arguably the most convenient location you can stay for the first time visiting Shanghai. My room was clean, staffs were friendly.
It is located just a block to the people square metro station, busy pedestrian plazar surrounded posh shopping malls, restaurant close to the Bund.
Old.
👍
Great location
No AC, very hot. No portable AC or fan
Good value in downtown Shanghai
Excellent value comfortable hotel in downtown Shanghai. Breakfast was excellent and service perfect. Would recommend.
The room is clean but the the doesn’t work, there busy with working in the building every day is very noisy if you at the low level
I need to check out 2 days earlier due to the flight changes. Hotel will charge 1000 RMB for any changes, and without returning any prepaid fee for breakfast, even Expedia talked to the booking dept.. This is a hotel like emperor's daughter, who doesn't worry no one will marry the daughter due to the location. There is no customer focused philosophy. They actually could sell the hotel easily at weekend, but they refused to make the change for free, even I offered to use the two nights I've paid in two weeks. They are not flexible at all, customer's needs meant nothing to them. I would not recommend to stay in this hotel unless you are very sure that you could stay the entire booking time. Otherwise, their penalty is readily available for you. I normally do not like to leave any comments on hotels, but I was surprised by the lacking customer orientated hotel with the brand of Crown Plaza. I am not sure I would trust the name of Crown Plaza as I used to! There are plenty choices out there.
No hot water on 23rd floor
Very friendly

Staff is great. Very conveniently located but I’m learning that nanjing road, while very convenient, is the ultra touristy area of Shanghai. On the plus side, shops will accept cash in this area. Usually they seemingly only accept Alipay/wepay. We used the pool and it was clean and in a cool atrium, although very chlorinated.
Very convenient to go anywhere. Friendly staff. But room should be more clean more detailed.
Quite simply, the entire experience at the Crowne Plaza was enjoyable. It is located on Nanjing Rd and just 300mtrs to the Metro and not too far away from the Bund. Taxi to important locations like Yu Garden or Pudong was less than $5 dollars AUD. Obviously being in the heart of the shopping district gives you 100's of food and shopping options within 10mins of walking so Ideal for convenience, even the Museum is barely 15mins walk. And if you're game, the metro is just as easy to get around. Probably the nicest thing is the staff and facilities. They couldnt have been more helpful and courteous and that makes all the difference.
convinient location
One night stay
We were upgraded to a suite and the room is very nice and comfortable. The service is great and the location is the best. You can just walk onto the shopping street!
Family room is spacious and clean.
Non-central air conditioning. Able to adjust temperature freely.
Excellent location
Excellent location. Starry at the front counter also gave us an upgrade. Back door leads to top restaurant and walking street
The location of the property is perfect!
Amazing place!
Need a major upgrade
Located in the heart of Nanjing East Pedestrian Road, this location is very central and convenient for shopping, or dining, or walking around. Would stay again
Aggressive scammers right at the doorstep of the hotel, unpleasant.
Great location
NA
Convenient location close to subway and shopping
Great location, bad tv
The tv really didn’t work during my visit. I could tune into CNN but there was something playing in the background.
Great location. Clean room. Excellent concierge service. Will return for sure.
Staff was friendly and helpful. We are very enjoy our stay.
Excellent Hotel in a convenient location
The hotel service is pretty good and friendly, the room is clean, the surrounding is super convenient to shopping and grabbing the tasty foods, and the transportation is very easy to bring you to everywhere you want to go. Very nice.
A nice hotel with great buffet breakfast. Convenient location close to the subway and major shopping district
Very good
The traffic in the breakfast area is to high and small for the number of guest.
There is fresh air intake into the room and the air con can be set to a very nice 5 deg C. Yes. This is not a mistype. Most other hotels in China have an unbearable 24 deg C heat setting in the middle of summer. And the individual room can only go down to 18 deg C. But this Crown Plaza can go to 5 deg C which is ideal for a foreigner. I love this Crown Plaza. Will be back.
Highly recommend!
The property is at a great location, in the center of everything, walking streets, shops and food, and easy access to subway lines at People's Square which get you to all parts of Shanghai. Staff are friendly. Great dining experiences at 4th floor restaurant, great food and services. Definitely for future stays.
Location is best, hotel is old but renovated, stuff are nice and friendly, breakfast is only chinese cuisine no other options for those who can not eat chinese food.
Location, location, location
Fantastic location, right in the heart of Shanghai tourist district
Convenient and walkable to everything.
Good hotel to walk in Nanjin pedestrian road full of good shops. 20 minutes walking distance to the Bund. Hotel very good for quality/ price ratio. I recommend to book with breakfast option included, plenty of good choices!
Great hotel
Great location. Staff speaks english and very helpful
Great hotel
Great location! Right on pedestrian street. Couldn’t get a better location for central Shanghai.
This hotel is right on Nanjing rd. Very convenient. Some of the rooms in this hotel are newly remodeled, and some have a little age to them. The two are night and day difference so make sure you choose the one you want
This Crowne Plaza located on Shanghai's legendary shopping district (over 1 km of stores, malls etc...) where no cars allowed, so very walkable. If you follow shopping down to river (1.2 km) you will arrive at the most spectacular view in the city (or almost any city): the great river view of the entire main downtown skyline of Shanghai. Priceless. You can then buy ferry tickets for a cruise on the river for even better photos. There are English speakers at front desk but almost no other staff can speak English. The staff capable but not very friendly; more "business-like." In same shopping area out the back entrance of hotel is countless shops, dining options, bars for over 1km. Many westerners there amongst the locals.
good
We stayed in this hotel for one night. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Shanghai, specifically Nanjing Road. The hotel is very clean and well equipped. Our room is very clean. The breakfast was super and delicious, one of the best hotel breakfast that we ever had. Will definitely pick up this hotel in the future.
Great location and service!
Shanghai great location hotel
Great Location and the room is spacious ! Good value for money!
Very good place to stay. Close to Metro and shopping area.
Gerardo
Was very good. Great ubication
very convenient!
The hotel was convenient to shopping, restaurants and train service. The hotel itself was dated. The rooms could use some updates as the furniture was old.
Best Hotel
I loved the hotel! everything was really awsome
Very convenient location, good and friendly service, nice environment
Best hotel
Stay here feeling sweaty and suffocated
We literally sweated during our stay at this hotel. Hotel controlled minimum AC temperature at 24 deg C in ALL rooms. We can only control air speed. We had to change room once. Even then new room it was equally hot. We requested them to reduce temperature by just 2 degrees to 22 but they refused despite informing them that we are feeling suffocated and sweaty at night and are unable to sleep. Horrible experience.
So so stay
Near to the bed frame. There was feathers and hair. Bed mattress was sinking. Seem like it has not replactdor long usage. Only good thing about the hotel is the location. Right in the CBD for shopping. Staffs seem not familiar with the surrounding. When asked about where to get local food or mall . They seem can't be bothered to talk to you.
Location is very good.
Very average and will not recommend
Great location it that’s about it. From waiting 30 mins to check in ….. I have no idea why it took at least 10 mins per person to check in it was ridiculous. This together with no attempt to get others to help even after we asked we Just had to wait. It was a poor start. Also they don’t allow individual air con control “all centralised in winter” so bad luck if you don’t like a sauna at night. Front desk Staff need to smile more but cleaners did a great job. Overall I will not stay here again.
Great location
Great location on Nanjing Rd, room was excellent with great shower! Internet was not up to standards but overall we were happy with our stay!
Subway station is only mins away, so many restaurants, street food, and shopping places right nest and/or nearby the hotel. Great location, great stay!!
Very relaxing, beautiful, great location
We came here at the end of our business trip and it was just what we needed to unwind and feel relaxed. Very clean and comfortable.
Commendable service
It was excellent. Other than providing the expected 5 star amenities and facilities, the service providedby the team exceeds our expectation. 3 staff we would like to commend for best service are sony 桑from the front desk who has made our 5 day stay perfect, lily xie who is a service staff at the breakfast room but she recognised our IHG previleges and remembered our preferences everyday during breakfast time and finally sending us off is ronaldo qi at the concierge.
The property seems to be stuck in the 1960's, with old carpet and worn out wood paneling. Need serious upgrading to be called 4 stars, especially the bathroom.
A Great Two Night Stay!
I stayed for two nights. I was on a business trip but my two nights were actually vacation in between business. The hotel was in the perfect location to access everything Shanghai has to offer. It's easy to access the Line 2 subway and you are right on Nanjing Road with all the shopping you could want. I was surprised to find out that I was given a family type of room with kids themed comforters, as I didn't recall booking such a room. But the room was still comfortable and I didn't mind the kids theme. The candy/treat plate was also a nice touch and even as an adult I enjoyed the candy. Like many business style hotels in China, the breakfast was absolutely amazing with lots of options for western and eastern tastes. The only small downside I experienced had nothing to do with the hotel. Just be aware that if you are white, you will get a lot of attention on Nanjing road from peddlers. I was probably approached 6 or 7 times within two days about buying things. They usually mention watches or bags. They don't actually have the items with them, but expect you to go with them to some other location (I have no idea where). It became a nuisance and it's best to just say 'no' very firmly and keep walking. I will definitely consider staying here again if I'm in the city.
One of the best hotels in Shanghai in terms of location and short walk to everything. Very safe (safety is not an issue in China in general) and vey clean. So many great restaurants nearby.

Conveniently located near train station, shopping street and the bund. Clean room. 2nd time staying at this hotel when in Shanghai.
