Stephanie is a great hostess, and our room was very clean and cozy. Shared living room and kitchen were nice areas as well.
Excellent place to relax and unwind. Stephanie was exceptionally pleasant, gave me great information but wasn't pushy. She was even able to secure a vehicle for me to rent to take my daughter around. I would highly recommend the Cranky Crow for anyone visiting Kodiak. It's conveniently located yet out of the way.
“Comfortable/Cozy not Cranky Crow”
Great B&B! Nice owners, excellent breakfast, and the room and common areas were cozy and comfortable. Quite a modern feel with the furnishings. Close to downtown and great access to restaurants.
Love the warm, home away from home feeling at the Cranky Crow. Breakfast was terrific and place was clean and comfortable
Bed and Breakfaste without Breakfaste
We only saw the proprietors when we checked in we heard them over head but never saw them. The accomadations were wonderful the bed room was a little warm and there was no hand soap but other than that we had a very relaxing stay and I would recommend it if you go in the off season and like to be left alone.
Top-quality B&B in Kodiak
I had the pleasure of staying at Cranky Crow B&B while visiting Kodiak. Stephanie, the host, runs an incredible establishment! My room was spotlessly clean, spacious, very tastefully decorated, and afforded privacy. The house itself is very comfortable. Stephanie is very flexible about breakfast hours, and even offered to prepare a "pack and go" breakfast when I had to leave very early one morning to go on a bear viewing trip (which I highly recommend!). The only (slight) drawback is that the house is a bit far from town (about a 45-minute walk). But if you have a car (which I did for one of the days), that's no problem. Let me also give you a few tips about Kodiak: 1) The town is very "basic", but you'll definitely feel like you're in Alaska! Set aside 1/2 day to wander around downtown, visit the small museums, the Russian Orthodox church, and the old Russian cemetery on Mill Bay Road. 2) Go to "Monk's Rock" for breakfast or lunch. 3) My favorite restaurant was "Kodiak Hana" (Japanese-American) in the cool "Old Powerhouse" neighborhood. Food was incredible! (probably because Alaskan seafood is so fresh) - I had the miso salmon. (The restaurant and dish were recommended by Stephanie.) 4) Definitely go bear-viewing. Stephanie recommended Andrew Airways was very pleased with their tour. 5) Rent a car for a half-day or day, and drive around the island. You can't go very far (only about 30 miles, because paved roads are limited), but scenery is amazing!

Stayed here again. They are wonderful and accommodating! My personal favorite to stay at in Kodiak!
Comfortable & Cozy B&B
The Cranky Crow is a quaint, comfortable B&B. It is very clean, and the decor is so cute and cozy! Stephanie is an excellent hostess! She is personable, helpful, and very informative. When we arrived she met us to give us a tour of the property. She has a lot of information on the island including maps of downtown, Ft. Abercrombie State Park maps, tons of info on different tour companies, and menus for local restaurants. She was always available via phone to answer any questions we may have had about our stay or the island. We stayed in the Cozy Corner Room with a shared bath. The bathroom was only shared with 1 other room at the time of our stay, which makes it a lot easier to handle. My husband is not a huge fan of shared bathrooms, which is understandable, but in this case he actually did not mind it because it was only with 1 other room! The bathroom was fairly large, and very clean. Stephanie had plenty of toiletries available in case you forgot anything, and there were plenty of fluffy towels available. Our room was on the smaller side, but we were only sleeping in it, and storing belongings so it did not really matter. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean, and well decorated. The breakfast every morning was such a nice touch! Our stay at the Cranky Crow was excellent! I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kodiak!
Amazing stay!
The B&B made for a fabulous stay. The breakfasts each morning were out of this world and in a sun room with a beautiful view. Stephanie the owner was incredible, attentive and willing to help with anything to make our stay perfect. It will be the ONLY place I stay the next time I'm in Kodiak. WIFI was super fast, and they had a massage chair that I used 3 times a day which completely fixed my back. WONDERFUL stay!
Great B&B
Cranky Crow was conveniently located on Kodiak with a hostess who had a wealth of information on things to do as well as contacts to get them arranged. The facility was very equipted with a lovely eat in kitchen and a large variety of creative breakfasts that were prepared. The rooms were modern, attractive and loaded with amenities such as l fireplace, large, flatscreen tv, DVD player, etc. The common area was spacious, comfortable and inviting. Although this was our first time staying there, many of the others we met there were repeat customers, which speaks for itself.
Excellent stay
Great stay!. Stephanie was proactive and very informative about the community. Other guests were both interesting and sensitive to sharing space in the home. Perfect weather!! Even a fly-by from the Russian Air Force :) (not really!) All in all a great trip that I'd do over again in a heartbeat!
A Great B&B!
A Great B&B! The food was great and so convenient, perfect location and the house is beautiful! I had stayed here some years back and liked the place but after their remodel, it’s fantastic! I highly recommend the Cranky Crow B&B.
Good B and B
Lovely place, well cared for and very clean.
Nice quiet B&B
The owner, Stephanie is very helpful and friendly. The B&B is in a quiet neighborhood within 5 minute drive of downtown Kodiak, boat harbor, and Near Island. The rates are quite a bit cheaper than hotels. It is clean and quiet. The room we had was small, but comfortable.
Meh
The B & B somehow got overbooked and I had to find other accommodations the first of 4 paid nights. I was refunded. The owner was nice enough both on the phone and at the time of my arrival, but I wasn't informed that my room would be on a different floor that the shared bathroom. The split level area (where the bathroom was located) between the ground floor and top floor had 6ft ceilings. At only 5'4" even I found myself ducking down in this part of the house. The unusually nice weather caused the room to be 78 degrees (even with the shades drawn and windows open). I was offered a fan which brought it down to 75. I'd never been to a B & B quite like this one. The view I asked about on the phone didn't actually exist because of overgrown trees between the home & the inlet. It really seemed more like a hostel. I never saw or spoke to the owner(s) except when she came to repair my television connection. Kitchen was clean and stocked with the minimum breakfast items. Signs indicated that no one would be present to clean up so I did my own dishes, etc., which was no problem, just not what I expected, as most places I had stayed in the past had some kind of help to assist with cleaning, serving, or even just helping the guests locate breakfast food items, utensils, etc. I think that the price per night was a little unreasonable, but this site prohibits me from mentioning how much :/
Kodiak
The room itself was clean and had a nice flat screen TV and WiFi available. If you want to make your own breakfast at a B and B - this is the place. However, what was available was cold cereal, outdated milk, some frozen breakfast items, frozen bread. The bath is a shared bath and we were lucky in that we were the only couple there the first night so we had the bath to ourselves.
Kodaik
The place is brilliant. Nice, warm and velcoming. Great breakfast. And then add Stephanie to that and its a perfect spot. Friendly, helpfull and such a great person. Soo enjoyed staying here Will come back

The owner,Stephanie, was great at communication. She provided a great space for us to stay. The accommodations were great. Our stay was extended due to weather. We were able to adjust and make other arrangements.
