Room was a bit dusty and light bulbs needed changing. Think there may be some permanents staying here too so not solely a motel. Area it is situated in is slightly sketchy area but we had no issues. Overall a decently priced over nighter and the managers are really nice and very helpful.

Best Place in NZ

This is very charming place, I had a cottage and it was great. Location was really good. The owners of this property were so friendly and I have never felt more comfortable the I have there. they went above and beyond.

This was a lovely motel to stay at

Beds not that comfy, couch very old and not comfy. Stayed 3 nights no rubbish emptied ,no change of towels, no cleaning done.

They are a pleasant couple , its very homely. #

Cosy but dark

Very comfortable cottage studio but very dark because of all the trees around it. We had to have the lights on all the time. Very friendly and helpful hosts

The couple running this property is fantastic - they will bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. I would recommend staying here. It is walking distance to many restaurants and even a grocery store. This will definitely be my first choice for all future trips to Christchurch.

I stayed in a cottage. It was great, a bit different from your usual motel room with a deck and comfy chairs outside. Looking over a nice native garden with a pond and fantails flying around among a few other birds. The room was comfortable, clean and warm with the heat pump. The owner was friendly and looked out for me when I was a bit under the weather. I enjoyed my stay at Cranford Cottages and would be back again. Thanks

The front desk women was very friendly. I found that there was quite a bit of noise. From the traffic and the neighbors .

A nice find!

I found my little room--which was more like a self-contained cabin than a motel room--to be extremely comfortable. While on a main road, it was tucked away with a nice deck with both sunny and shaded areas that were private and peaceful, had a couch and a table at which to eat and work, and a little kitchen where I could prepare breakfast. I was visiting friends in the area and found this to be a nice base. The owner (manager?) was extremely helpful in letting me check in early and in directing me to nearby coffee shops. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay, and I recommend it!

Really cute self contained cottages with nice garden setting and lots of privacy. Lady who assisted us checking in was lovely and very friendly. We didn’t have any hot water which was the only downfall, possibly a problem with the gas. Would stay again.

We liked being in a separated cottage that was totally private with an enclosed outdoor deck with nice foliage around it. It was very quiet and was a central location.

This was a nice place to stay. The room that I was in seemed a little outdated but it didn’t bother me that much because I was only there for one night. The lady that runs the property is so friendly and lovely. There is a bus stop right out the front of the property which makes getting into the CBD real easy.

Another great stay. The best place to stay in Christchurch. Big rooms and everything you need.

Very comfortable modern unit in quiet location near shops pubs garage and supermarket. Had everything we required fora great holiday.We spent 3 weeks there and thoroughly enjoyed it.Managers were very pleasant and helpful and I can recommend them for making your stay a good one. Ann S.

Nice Cottages

Lovely private cottage with balcony. The staff was friendly and helpful making sure all our needs were met. Very happy with the location easy access to City centre. Shops within easy walking distance.

Great Location

The small cottage had everything we needed and was a 25min walk from the CBD. It was also a 5min walk from some top pubs and restaurants - if you stay here we recommend you try The Coriander Ethnic Indian - great food and top value!

Comfort for a good price

They started with a basic cinder block motel and worked a lot to make it really pleasant. Good beds, fresh refurbishment, lots of nice touches. For instance a frosted glass door to let more light into your room, and a blackout shade so that light doesn’t wake you too early. Well maintained, everything works. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Good WiFi. Less expensive than most places to do laundry. Very convenient location.

Very welcoming. staff dealt with very noisy group of youngsters very promptly so we had a good nights sleep . Bed very comfy

Comfort plus.

Great to have a kitchenette. The hosts were wonderful as there had been a mix up with our bookings ( my fault). We stayed twice, once at the beginning of our trip around the South Island and once at the end. Very comfortable and with easy reach of the city, and local shops if you need supplies.

The Motel is in need of refurbishment, the bathrooms are in a poor condition.

Cozy villa and friendly staff

The receptionist was very kind and helpful and had a big smile on her face. The villa we stayed in had everything we needed to make our own meals and the unlimited access to wifi also helped us to plan our Christchurch trip better. The location of the motel was also perfect as it was close to the centre of town (5 mins or less of a drive). Great place and good price.

Motel close to bus route

Comfortable and had all the facilities I required so I enjoyed my stay. It was situated near my family so I had only a short to their house. I was there for 2 weeks and had no problems in that time. I had a pleasant decking area outside my room.

Trendy and lovely

This motel was a lovely simple well looked after place, with everything needed to enjoy a home away from home at a relatively affordable price.

Friendly and Clean

A very warm welcome and very friendly staff. The room was large and comfortable, but typical of NZ motels - an old building that has been updated, but the age still shows - this isn't to say that this is a bad property - it isn't. Everything worked and the wifi was good. Needed the windows open as it was a warm day, but this allowed the cigarette smoke to waft in from the neighbours who were on the porch smoking. Not the hotel's fault; but it might help if there was a designated smoking area away from the rooms. I would stay here again.

Quiet cottages, good access for elderly, central

Great service, quiet cottages, easy access for my elderly relatives. Only complaint is the lack of wardrobes- just three hooks on the wall and my relatives were staying 2 weeks.

Friendly, clean accommodation

We were welcomed by a very friendly face and had excellent service throughout our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the owners checked that we were stocked with tea, coffee and milk throughout our stay. Location was reasonably quiet and well situated away from town centre.

Clean and close enough to walk

Just arrived in NZ and getting used to driving on the left side of the road. It was close enough that we could walk and not worry about traffic or parking

Nice motel with confort close to city and aiport room are very goid size and kitchen as well Manager and other staff are friendly but always forget to do something when cleaning (to out milk,bring towels or even to make bed) Anyway I would recomend this motel as this,staff is,fixable

handy to city centre

A clean, tidy motel, peaceful and warm. Unit was tastefully decorated, with air conditioning. Kitchen venetians wouldn't shut properly, giving us no privacy into bedroom. I managed to repair that myself, so we could get needed privacy, as neighbouring units walked within inches of our windows. Was pleased with our stay there, apart from one annoying thing. The shower had no tray per se. It was an open floor with water spraying under curtain and running far more than it should. That resulted in having to mop floor after every shower with a small car window squeegie...so frustrating. That would be only reason to not stay there again.

Quiet and peaceful

Nice quiet motel. We always stay in the deluxe studio because its big and really comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Great option over a standard motel

Stayed here for two nights before flying back home. It was much more relaxing than a motel room with a covered verandah to sit out on facing a nice garden area not a carpark. The cottages are roomy and comfortable and set up facing away from the parking so they feel more private. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is also reasonably close to the city centre and has some shops and an Irish pub within walking distance. The tariff offered great value.

Stayed here for business. Was a quiet sleep in middle of Christchurch. Warm and comfortable room at a very reasonable price. Great wifi and TV for work and play.

Excellent place to stay. We were a late arrival but the heat pump was on for our arrival and we felt very welcome and appreciated. The cottage was very clean and well presented and there was a sense of 'quality' about the room amenities. The location was great - conveniently situated on a main road but not at all noisy. Would very happily return here again.

Nice unit!

Clean, comfortable room. Good selection of TV channels incl all freeview + sky sports and movie premiere. Quite overpowering perfume on entering room (highly perfumed cleaner or air freshener) Turned out that most of it was in kitchen/bathroom area, so closing that door helped a lot. Also note reception hours. They emailed me to see when I would arrive. Keep an eye on your email, or put your arrival time in booking notes
