Mixed Experience at the Hotel Our stay at this hotel was okay, but it had ups and downs. Upon arrival, the reception staff was not very friendly, which was a bit disappointing. We were initially given a room on the 2nd floor designed for wheelchair access, which we hadn't requested. The room was quite dark because natural light couldn’t come in due to scaffolding outside the window. After requesting a change, we were moved to a room on the 19th floor. This new room was much cleaner and brighter, making our stay more comfortable. Overall, the hotel offers standard cleanliness, but the initial experience could have been improved with better customer service and attention to room assignments

Hotel is in a great location for walking to any midtown landmark. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff extremely helpful & courteous.

Best customer service

Great stay at this location on W 40st. We arrived late around midnight. Check in was quick and easy. Attendant was ok but we received no information about the hotel/facilities. She only asked us to sign credit card form. Nothing else uttered. Spacious room. Not tiny box as some other NYC hotel rooms. No foul odors. Clean. Were a few soap scum stains within shower grout. Bleach may help with that, but overall very clean. The toilet is very low, just as other reviewers stated. There is a full shower door in our room on 10th floor. So the shower did not have a half door as others stated. Fridge was helpful to keep our food/drinks. We used microwave in lobby to warm leftovers. The toilet clogged once and engineering came within 15mins. Location is great! Towards left is Bryant park, turn right is Times Square/Theater district. We did not use their restaurant. Laundry washer and dryer was great, $3 each if i remember correctly. We felt safe night or day. But its NYC so be cautious. Bed was comfortable. Heat worked perfectly and kept us warm in January weather. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room. Door men were friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again if the price is right!

Great hotel in a great location close to Times Square and Bryant Park. The room was nice and clean.

Located walking distance from Times Square. Lots of eating places around and the fact that you could bring food to the hotel and enjoy it comfortably in the dining area.

Near Bryant Park and just off of Times Square - which makes it a quieter place. Close to everything!

The hotel was clean, beds were comfortable and the staff were incredible!! Check in was easy. We had a room overlooking the Empire State Building so the view was great!! The room stayed very hot, even though we had the thermostat set on 60 but we dealt with it by cutting the thermostat off completely. Also, ice was only located on the lobby floor. The only other thing was the toilet. It was the lowest toilet I’ve ever seen in a hotel room, so if you have any issues with your back or legs, good luck getting up/down. It was more like a preschoolers toilet. Overall, it was a decent place to stay.

We were in town to see the Rockettes & a game at Madison Square Garden. The location is perfect & the room was nice. The staff was very friendly & helpful!

We hoped there would be more holiday decorations inside the hotel. In addition, our bathroom only had a half glass wall that totally let the water out; and the showerhead was broken - so had to shower on my knees. For the money, it was pretty bad.

Walking distance from times square and other beautiful places to visit. But the valet parking is horrible had us waiting more than an hour, so decided to park at another parking lot 15 minutes walking distance from the hotel.

The views were great from our room, however, some of the linens were old and frayed, and the hotel manager was not helpful with navigating the valet parking situation (there was no where to park outside of the hotel to have valet bring the car to the parking garage and the parking garage self-park was full). If you are driving, this is a difficult hotel to stay at with a car and you won't get much help from the staff. Otherwise, the hotel was clean and the rooms are a decent size considering it's New York.

I had an amazing stay at this beautiful hotel! The staff went above and beyond by granting us a very early check-in, which made our trip so much more convenient. The room was perfect, with the most comfortable king bed I’ve ever slept in. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and incredibly helpful. The location is unbeatable—perfectly situated between Times Square and Bryant Park. It’s barely a ten-minute walk to Macy’s and Madison Square Garden, and only about a ten-minute subway ride from Central Park. This hotel made my NYC trip unforgettable, and I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next visit. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed my staff. The hotel is around the corner from my office so it is super convenient. The Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient. I grabbed coffee, yogurt and fruit in the morning. Offering an egg white wrap would be a nice edition to the menu. The guy at the front desk was extremely nice when I came down requesting a room not close to the elevator. He quickly changed my room and followed with my in the morning when I checked out. I wish I remembered his name because he was remarkable.

The customer service at check in wasn't friendly. The room was ok. It seemed a bit outdated.

Room was clean and well appointed. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. WiFi in our room was poor. We could connect but it wouldn’t work with our devices. Shower was difficult to use properly and soaked the bathroom.

The staff were great! Very polite and welcoming. The lighting in our room could have been better, more or brighter lights would have been nice. Our room was very basic. The carpet looked dirty. The corridor on floor 15 had a musty smell. Over all the hotel was nice.

Wow! What a great stay at the Courtyard! All I can say is BOOK this place, you won’t regret it. 3 min walk to Times Square, CVS located a minute away. Staff super friendly, I was amazed that we got housekeeping everyday! Ever since Covid most places did it every 2nd day, so I was pleasantly surprised !!

Crazy Housekeeping

Everything was great! The check in process, valet, and cleanliness were all amazing. Front desk staff were very friendly and inviting. UNTIL check out day—starting at 8:00A (still sleeping bc we were on a birthday getaway weekend) the housekeeper stopped by hourly to see if we had left. Mind you, check out isn’t until 12P. On her last visit around 11A we were finishing up packing when she knocked—for the third time—when we told her we had not let yet she proceed to ask us well WHEN will you be leaving. At this point, I was very annoyed. We didn’t need to be hounded about when we would be checking out when we left well before check out time.

The place is near the time square and centre of Manhattan. The receptionists were very welcoming. The hotel is not new but clean. The only downside for me - it was not mentioned that the parking is not in the hotel. Other than that, everything is okay. I would stay here again.

Great stay for a short trip to NYC!

The hotel is in a wonderful location. It’s close to the subway, Broadway, Brian Park, and many good eating establishments. The one thing I would say is that it needs an overhaul. A lot of the furniture looks tired and in need of replacement. The staff was excellent, could not be more helpful, and really represented the best of Marriott hotels. I would again reiterate that it needs a facelift.

Enjoyed my stay. The cafe was closed at a very inconvenient time.

Very nice and convenient to Times Square. Was most surprised by the size of the rooms as I was expecting much smaller. And it is very quiet- didn’t hear a thing. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

The hallway outside our room always smelled musty and like dirty feet. The room smelled damp at first but wasn’t too bad once we went “nose blind” to it. A pair of dirty mens y-front underwear was stuck to the ironing board. Disgusting. One day only one of our beds was made up by housekeeping, the other completely ignored. No shampoo in the bottle on the wall in the shower which wax something I didn’t notice until I was in there with my hair soaking and it was too late to do anything about it. My daughter had a book shipped to the hotel, it was signed for by “Karen” at front desk but never materialized in the room or anywhere. Our asking about it seemed to merely frustrate them so we walked away from the situation with it being unresolved. Cheap enough for downtown and the position close to Bryant park was great. But I’d pay a little more for something not so dingy or with smell/ housekeeping issues. Front desk staff were friendly.

The location of this hotel for the price is awesome!! So close in walking distance to so many things. The staff here is the star. They are so welcoming, friendly, and helpful! My only complaint would be for housekeeping. Upon arrival, there were two long, black hairs in the shower. As they were easy to spot, it made me wonder about the cleanliness of the room. Also, we had 4 people listed for check in and they only gave us two towels and not a single wash cloth. We ended up having to share until we were brought more. Otherwise, it was a fantastic stay!

Exemplary Service!!

The employees were spectacular. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. What really mattered and stood out for me was when my Mom walked away from me a half a block from the hotel. After I contacted 911, went to businesses, and figured out which way she went, I went back to the hotel, asked for my car from Valet, and explained what happened. The employees immediately started their protocols and started a grid search for every floor in case she went on the elevator with other guests and exited the wrong floor. The manager let me know what was happening. It turns out my Mom had a small stroke. We had to extend our stay while Mom was in the hospital. The employees, now family, were so helpful. I will never forget the kindness, helpfulness, and support we needed and received.

Overall great hotel but the parking was not in and out, for $50 a night plus the cost of the room it should be in and out of the garage.

Our stay was wonderful! The staff was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location was very good and convenient for getting around NYC. Our room was clean and comfortable, with many amenities. We had fast service to our room on the 30th floor via the elevator. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here with my 7 year old son and mother. It was a great location--very central but quiet at night. The staff downstairs were all super friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was great, too. I would stay here again.

All three nights we were woken up by loud guests, one night even trying to get in our room.

Courtyard was very centrally located with easy access to subway stations, walkable distance to various city sights and restaurants . The location is very safe and has a friendly staff. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Highly recommend this hote for visitors to NYC.

Rooms had heavy smell of mold upon staying found spot with heavy mold had two rooms and made staff aware and was put into new rooms but also found mold was n those rooms brought it up to management with emails and pictures never received any response back poor customer service.

Hotel is really good and close to time square which is less than 10 mins walk. We really enjoyed staying there. Only issue we faced is the parking. Hotel did not provide any details on hotel approved parking facility where we can get some discount. Staff was frustrated and did not respond well when we asked questions on the same.
