Tres bien - the PERFECT hotel!!!!
Absolutely STELLAR in every way! Cannot recommend highly enough. The Cour des Loges is undeniably gorgeous, the rooms are unique and stunning, everything feels luxurious and historical all at once, it's incredibly comfortable, the service is top notch, the concierges are masterful, the location is fabulous... I could go on and on! MUST STAY!
Highly recommend
Amazing little hotel in a great location with wonderful service. We thought the concierge team at this hotel were exceptional in their knowledge and were super helpful.
Step back in time
Hotel is like staying in an ancient castle, which it kinda is... Service was excellent-zero complaints there! The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast buffet was decadent!! The layout of the rooms is interesting...remember it's an ancient building, The bed was very comfortable, the bathtub was huge, the placement of light switches was confusing. It is very clean, and charming, and gave us a very unique experience a more modern hotel couldn't .
Staff is great. Hotel is very charming and location was in the heart of old Lyon
B Best hotel ever. Beautiful and elegant, unique and old world- The staff was excellent, we loved everything about This hotel. Magical.
Lovely, unusual and I. The center of the old town
It had a very unique ambience.
We arrived without alerting the staff to my husband's walking disability. The staff reassigned us to a bigger more assistance-friendly suite with a walkin shower. We were thrilled and a little embarassed by the luxe accomodations. Commendations to everyone for giving my husband's safety.
Our room was upgraded to a very large suite. Front desk service was excellent. staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is located in a beautiful and walkable part of the city. A great restaurant in the hotel and lots of other good choices nearby.
Lovely old building. Excellent staff.
Excellent séjour, personnel très attentif, j’ai hâte de revenir séjourner dans cet hôtel, tout était parfait
Amazing hotel in an amazing location. Tons of restaurants and cafes right outside . The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very walkable and safe.
Excellent- both facilities and staff!
great place great location
amazing hotel
Our dinner and service were excellent, one of our best ever. It is an old structure and our room was challenging.
Charming Hotel - Service is amazing!
Unbelievable service! Staff is so kind and attentive. Room is beautiful and spacious, Bed and bedding are very comfortable, room is a little dark which I know is intentional but made it hard to see my belongings. Otherwise, it was perfect. Also a great location, and fantastic restaurants on site. When my train ticket wasn’t right, Sandrine walked me to the train station to assist. I’ve never had such treatment!
Charming historic hotel with a most welcoming staff. Great location in the heart of the old city with pedestrian only streets and lively cafes and interesting shops nearby. Rooms were very quiet with access to a lovely private garden.
Wonderful location. Amazing service. Will definitely return!
Best place to stay in the city of Lyon. It has so much character.
Best Hotel in Vieux Lyon. The Location. The building. The Staff. The Food. The view from the window. Simply cannot be any better.
Staff and location are amazing. Close to everything and the staff will bend over backwards to help you
Beautiful historic building
We stayed for 4 days in a beautiful medieval building in the centre of a historical area reminiscent of Montagus and Capulets. The mezzanine room was small but perfectly formed. We didn't use the spa but the garden terraces were lovely and would be refreshing in summer. The location was very convenient for the whole of Lyon, and there were plenty of good local restaurants a mere stone's throw away.
Great location and friendly concierge. Desperately need to fix the air conditioning in the bedrooms though and more lighting required.
Don't drive to the Hotel
Do not recall ever trying to locate a hotel with such difficulty driving a car. Drove around the old town of Lyon for 45 minutes. Would urge you if you are driving to call and the hotel and they will help you. You will need a code given to you by the hotel staff to enter the old town. Parking is an additional $40 per night. The room was a duplex, very dark, be prepared. The good: the concierge staff was very polite and helpful. The location is amazing once you find it. Not a hotel for young families given duplex room, stairs and steps.
Very very good personel. Excellent location. Excellent restaurants. If you like contemporary hotel with a lot of light, it is not for you. The hotel is an ancient building and is deprived for daylight. Property has a lot of charm but needs renovation.
Service was over the top amazing !!!
In addition to our LARGE room, we really enjoyed the beautiful gardens.
Amazing restoration. Staff less so. Failed to recognise Expedia prepayment. Functional approach unhelpful.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of the old town. The staff were superb and I could not fault the hotel in anyway
Beautiful architecture, great location, great staff
Luxury in the heart of Lyon's old town
Wonderful hotel in every regard - service, food, elegance, comfort, and an amazing spa. Perfectly located in the old town...
Awesome rooms, very friendly staff, great location. But they told us when we checked in that we had free breakfast, and then at checkout gave us a bill of $30 each for a meh breakfast buffet.
An absolute beautiful property, convenient location and a superb staff and room quality
Old building that they tried to modernize but to no avail
Great stay
Everything was amazing top to bottom. Except the quality of the beds. These should be improved
Great hotel in the center on the city. Beautiful decoration, comfy bed. She upgraded our room and that was nice . Highly recommend this hotel.
This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of old Lyon. It is a beautiful historic property, stunningly renovated to retain the integrity of the period it was built. We had an amazing stay and would definitely return!
Worst GM service/attitude in the world- Stay away!
Was enjoying the location and the meals at the hotel... both great. That’s where it stops. Had breakfast delivered to room and what I thought were melon seeds were actually crawling bugs. I immediately spit out the food & called for them to remove the tray. Nothing else was eaten from the breakfast tray, understandably. Disgusting. Went to Check out when I saw breakfast still on the bill. I whispered to the lady there were bugs in food and I didn’t eat any and certainly shouldn’t have to pay for it ... whispering out of courtesy so others wouldn’t hear. That’s when she called over Frank, the GM who literally started yelling at me saying the bugs were little and ”phwe” absolutely nothing and that yes I have to pay. His yelling was so loud and obnoxious that my hands visibly began to shake because I was so upset. Frank obviously didn’t care about me or the other guests. When I told him we are in Lyon a lot and often get rooms for guests, (and that I am a travel agent) and could never have anyone stay at the Cour des Loges the way he was yelling at me and forcing me pay to pay for food with bugs in it, he simply didn’t care about that, either. Frank the GM belongs NO WHERE near a “ 5 star” hotel. Recommendation is to eat dinner in one of their two restaurants- both are excellent- and to stay somewhere else until Frank is out of the picture and the hotel is cleaned up. ( room had spiderwebs in the blinds and we think the bugs came from the room.)
Historically wonderful.
Amazing experience.
Great location and an excellent staff
Impeccable service and hotel.
Overall excellent stay. The hotel is in impeccable condition. The concierge services are second to none. My wife and I were given top class service by two different concierge desk representatives for dining options and had reservations made without a second thought. It was seamless. The hotel itself is wonderfully kept. The spa was fantastic as well. When we return to Lyon, this will always be our go to hotel. Only small complaint that my wife had was the firmness of the mattress (which was quite firm). I personally very much appreciated this as I enjoy firm mattresses.
Second visit, still as good!
Very polite and helpful staff. Great spa to relax in after a long day
Very old building but beautifully presented. Quirky rooms that are very comfortable and luxurious.
Beautiful historic property. Really interesting history dating back 800 years. Rooms were not huge but nice. Property located on a small alley -- easier to get there walking than driving. Very walkable to town and attractions.
New comfort in old Lyon
Tremendous hotel. Right on old Lyon. Unique and worth the whole trip if you want to explore
Best location, love the jet pool, service are great, only catch is the toilet room is too dark and smell due to ventilation
Lovely staff and beautiful ambiance.
World Class Experience
Phenomenal hotel and wonderful city. Live in the walls of history in this converted middle ages student quarters (was Jesuit University nearby). The entire hotel from top to bottom is world class. Be sure to have dinner in the Michelin one star.
Good location, smart hotel
Good location, quiet, but not too far from the sights. Smartly decorated, and classy bathroom.
Great location - bad beds
This hotel is perfectly located in the old section of Lyon. Lots of restaurants and shops are nearby. Warning - vehicle traffic is not allowed, but the hotel does have a parking garage. The subway is a short walk. The building is as expected - funky ancient! All of the common areas are really old and fun. The staff is excellent, especially the concierge (loved him!) The restaurant is perfect; it is exactly what you would expect of a Michelin star restaurant. The room was very large with a decent sized bathroom. Now the bad news. The lighting in the bedroom and bathroom is similar to a haunted house. And the king mattress was horrible - two twins put together sagging in the middle resulting in back aches everyday. This is not at all what one would expect of a 5 star hotel.
Wegot a bad room Other rooms in same hotel much better
Fantastic location , great hotel
Fantastic location in old town Lovely hotel and staff very welcoming and extremely helpful in recommending restaurants/ bars / areas to visit Building is beautiful Lovely small indoor pool and hot tub , perfect to relax after a day of walking Highly recommended this hotel
It was very nice
Lovely
Lovely hotel, interesting room, great location. Can’t wait to go back.
The hotel setting, the design and the breakfast are great. The bathroom is a bit weird, toilet and bidet are in a separate room, without a sync to wash hands. There is a large tub with a wand, but no shower or shower head. There was no conditioner. When reserving the room on Expedia, I chose a King size bed and got confirmation from Expedia, but the room had a Queen (or smaller?). I noticed only when getting into the bed. I discussed the issue in the morning with the reception who said they did not get the info from Expedia and I should have confirmed ahead with the hotel. Or if I had noticed earlier, they would have moved me to another room. My expectation is: since I use a booking service at a cost, and I choose and pay for a 4 or 5 star hotel, I should not have to deal with this... During this trip. we stayed in a few 4 and 5 star hotels in a few locations in France and Italy, I would give this one 4 stars.
Great location
Fantastic location! The room was nice though it did need a few minor repairs - missing bathroom shelf, peeling wallpaper. There was a heat wave while we were there, so we weren't happy that the housekeeping staff turned down the a/c while we were out.
Charming hotel, beautifully decorated, superb location, very quiet and quaint , excellent service.
Great hotel, but too much
Great hotel if you are looking for a 5 star hotel........ Not a place to stay for relaxing or chilling. Awesome 5 star hotel but too over the top for me....
Hotel charming, but weird and quirky--not 5 star.
Our room had toilet in separate "closet"--dark with squeaky floors (felt like an outhouse). You had to exit into hallway, across bedroom, up a high step, into another room, to wash hands...in another room with small basin, large bathtub, and no stand-up shower--definitely not "senior-friendly". Policy seems to be to not let you check in until the allotted time. Room "wasn't ready", at 1:00 PM (before they even checked), and we were hot and tired after arduous travels, and were told to go out and come back at 3:00. (Clerk spoke "rapid-fire" French, and gave no instructions when showing room--how to operate temperature, TV, even locating the toilet (in its hidden closet!) First impressions are Most Important!
This hotel is pure magnificence with a beautiful history, beautiful (complimentary) spa, and a great roof garden. The bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. Our stay in Lyon was perfect and we cannot wait to return.
Great staff and location
We landed at Cour de Loges after a very long and stressful travel and the Conciergerie recommended a lovely little restaurant nearby. Our room overlooked a garden area and was very quiet despite being in the center of town. It was a wonderful stay!
Beautiful spa, pristine. Great location in old part of town... Room was spacious but very dark due to layout.
I must say the hotel is in an excellent location and the staff are outstanding We ate in the restaurant which was absolutely a really stunning experience and the food was of a very high standard. Our only disappointment was the mezzanine bedroom. Firstly whilst the downstairs area has air conditioning the bedroom area upstairs does not and this made the room unbearably hot. This was made worse once you had a bath or shower. Secondly there was a very small velux opening window in the upstairs bedroom area but you had to climb onto a swivel chair to open it which was extremely dangerous. We did mention this to the receptionist once we vacated the room and she said she would pass our comments to the management team.
A treasure!
Fascinating hotel. Full of character. Room was beautiful and hotel is quiet. In the middle of old town on a pedestrian street. Taxis are allowed to deliver you to the front door.
Understand the history of the structure and restrictions in layout etc. We needed to swap rooms as, at first, we were put in a mezzanine room, where the air conditioning did not cool the upper level appreciably. The staff were great in doing that for us. However, I found the rooms dimly lit - although this may be part of the ambience they are trying to create - and our second room lacked a shower curtain and the tea making facilities didn’t work. However, it was comfortable and charming, consistent with Old Lyon. We give our rating based on our expectations and price. As I said, the staff were fantastic and helped avert the stay from becoming intolerable.
Nice hotel, great location, superior staff!
Very good hotel in an interesting 16th century building in the heart of Lyon old town, on a street full of restaurants including three with Michelin stars. The hotel restaurant is one of these.
Cour de Loges- a Big Disappointment!
I know we ordered less expensive rooms but they were tiny and awkward with a bedroom loft. No room to move. No wonder they did not show pictures. Also, five star with only one small bar of soap and no washclothes. NOT a 5 star
Beautifully restored renaissance building
The hotel is located in a building that was originally four adjacent renaissance houses. The standard of renovation is outstanding, and one of our party who is an expert was very favorably impressed. This creates a wonderful ambiance. The roof garden, hot tub and pool were an additional pleasure. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most of the attractions of Lyon. Altogether great.
Nice hotel in the Old Town
Excellent hotel. Great location close to sites and restaurants in the center of the old town. Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT!
From the moment we arrived until we left, three days later, everything was perfect. The cleanliness of all spaces, the food and specially, the staff. I want to extend special compliments to concierge Vincent. Cour de Loges Hotel made our experience very comfortable but Vincent made our stay unforgettable.
Overall very good. Space for toiletries in bathroom not adequate. Missed a second chair with a back for reading.
Romantic and Relaxing
My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon during a 3-night trip to Lyon. This is a unique hotel, and probably won't suit everyone, so if you are expecting a standard hotel where every room is exactly the same, this isn't for you. The staff was so great from the moment we checked in. Our room wasn't ready yet, but they held our luggage for us while we walked around Lyon. Once it was ready, we were led to our room and told that if it wasn't up to our expectations we could move. I also found out during this time that the hotel was originally built in the 1400s and previously inhabited by the Jesuits. You don't get that kind of history just anywhere. The room itself didn't have any windows facing the outside of the hotel, which was kind of odd, but it did have windows that faced in towards the hotel. This resulted in the room being a little dark, but the placement of the room made it more isolated, which I liked because we didn't really hear other guests. The soaker tub was relaxing after a long day of walking. The room where the toilet is located was a bit like a little cave; it was very dark. Same with the room where the shower was. The spa was AMAZING though. It really made up for the quirks of the hotel. I felt so indulgent swimming in the pool and going to the hot tub and steam rooms, and then relaxing afterwards in my robe with a cup of Mariage Freres tea. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Lyon after this hotel.
A very sp[ecial place
Wonderful location, unique building with a fascinating history The room was a little cramped with a sloping roof with a central beam over the bed with steps down to the bathroom area, great caution required to prevent accidents
Nice and charming hotel
Beautiful building with boutique style in good location. Lovely and charming! Staff was very helpful with quick response to my requests.
Central to the old town
The hotel is amazing. So characterful, not experienced such a hotel. Our room was unusual, it had steps, a mezzanine, was in the roof, large shower and bath, the rooms seem very variable. Beautiful city, so much to see - buildings, parks, museums, streets, rivers etc.
Overall amazing experience however the pour on the bourbon was shockingly small, especially for the price
Was located in the beautiful Vieux Lyon neighborhood. Was only there for one night but would definitely go back.
Beautiful hotel in heart of old quarter
Beautiful stay, staff excellent and able to guide our needs and preferences. Prices match most other 5* hotels in the area.
Sorry, I won't be back.
Location is great. Rooms smelled musty and were very dark. Bathroom was like a bad Vegas hotel from the 60's. Hotel is unique but that is about it. Staff was great.
Cannot depended on
Made a reservatio for a room on superior single level. The next day got a mail saying the hotel did not accept my type of credit card and I had only so long to give them another, however the holet.com web site said i had a guaranteed reservation and I should not respond to e-mail from others. Sorted that out Arrived at the hotel, and was told the room I had booked was not available for that night (what do hotel.com claim !), I assume overbooking. We ended up in a horrible multi storey room. Loo and shower downstairs bath and all sinks upstairs. There is a step in the lower level. I use a walking stick. I fell over this step and broke a rib which caused the early end of our holiday and i am still in a lot of pain and receiving medical treatment. I must in all fairness point out that at all times the staff helped as much as they could, Also the room that I booked is among the nicest room I have ever had,. but it is not worth paying quite a lot of money to sit in because I was in such pain and could not go out, but that a matter for my lawyer.
Les Camus
Nicel area to walk around
Super hotel
Mr. Gerard and staff were excellent, fantastic location and don't need a car. We should have dropped our rental upon arrival and grabbed a cab to airport as Lyon was our last stop.
Staff were obliging, friendly and extremely helpful with all aspects of our stay.Hotel is very well positioned in Old Lyon and is full of old world charm and beauty. We would not hesitate to stay at Cour des Loges again and would recommend this hotel .
Not worth the price.
While we returned to this hotel because of the location and character of the old building, wmut wasn't worth the price. And breakfast was way too expensive for the what you get. And our suite room was too warm, and their was no way to cool down the upper level where our bed was located.
Stunning medieval/renaissance location.
Wonderful service, incredibly distinctive location. Looking for a high end, beautiful, ROMANTIC hotel that's right in the middle of old Lyon? Tired of the Hilton and want some character, but don't want to give up high quality service? This is it.
Depressing looking hotel.
Not enough that rooms are extremely small, they are decorated in very dark depressing colours. Not attractive hotel and certainly not a five stars hotel.
Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff
Everything was perfect but internet sucked, very bad and only worked in or near the bathroom
Amazing
Different
It is a Unesco hotel as it consists of 4 buildings built during the XV and XVI centuries
A fabulous, friendly and welcoming hotel & staff
We had a fabulous break here, a complete surprise birthday present from my husband. The hotel is wonderful, service amazing, gorgeous spa which we could use at any time, pretty roof garden and just perfect all around. Lyon is a beautiful place to visit for a short break but we will be returning to explore further afield and use the old town as our base. Our room was one of the mezzanine suites which was unusual and quirky which we love. It was compact and well designed but a little tired around the edges. Bed linen and towels were lovely and the bed a little soft but this gave a feeling of sinking into luxury. The Spa was excellent and we used when ever we liked, great pool and well appointed spa suite. The location is in the heart of the old town which had a great buzz but also within easy walking to anywhere we wanted to go during the day or walking back from dinner in the evenings. Great market on Saturday morning and wonderful craft and art market on Sunday. The concierge both Gerard and Sandrine were a fountain of useful information for where to go and what to see as we hadn't done much home work before coming to Lyon which was to see Coldplay in concert and enjoy wonderful food. The weather was wonderful which was the icing on the cake!
Overall a disappointing experience
The location of this hotel excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room - a superior room - was a disappointment though. It was dark with poor natural lighting from an internal courtyard and an odd layout with the bathroom open to the room. Not worth the price.
This is the ONLY hotel to stay in in Lyon
I can't say enough good things about this Hotel. This is the ONLY hotel to stay in in Lyon. The old-town area is Magical. The Concierge (especially the short one with the awesome mustache) was SO charming, and helpful, and gracious. The place is a castle, with ancient stairs and walls, that is both welcoming and inspiring. The spa was KILLER, and a welcomed relief after a long steep walks around the town. The bar is awesome too (pricey but great). They have a balcony upstairs - just a simple garden set-up, but the Concierge gave me plates and utensils, and we had our own private dinner with food from the local river-side market, This hotel will make me consider it/Lyon whenever I consider another trip to France. Cour Des Loges was such a wonderful experience I don't think words or picture quite does it justice. I can't wait to go back there... It makes me a little sad as I write this, but I will return, and I will stay longer!
Bundles of character and amazing staff
The hotel building is not faultless, but that helps with its very distinct character. Front of house staff, however, are faultless. In particular Gérard. The swimming pool is more of a plunge pool but has a current setting to 'swim against the tide'. Also, given how it has been tiled, there are lots of sharp corners, so never feels comfortable. Due to our scehdule, we didn't really get a chance to sample the food. Disappointingly, the room service menu is very limited. The room itself (7) is extremely comfortable, with a super king size bed and king sized bathtub.
Excellent concierge service
Marvelous Historic Hotel
A marvelous historic hotel in Old Lyon. Fascinating architecture. A warm greeting from the staff on arrival. The concierges Sandrine and Gerard were extremely helpful. A kingsize bed was most appreciated. The bathroom contained a large jacuzzi tub.
Upgrade to a suite it's well worth the cost. Perfect location in the old city but for good food you will need to cross the river outside of old Lyon.
great location
The hotel is in a perfect location, and it's architecture is unique.
Beautiful historic hotel but with limited spa
Disappointed with size of pool. Cramped size meant bashing your foot on steps of pool when swimming.
Very nice staff and hotel facilities
