Fabulous accommodation we we're in room 10. Lovely view of the lake from the lounge (upstairs) The Kitchenette was well equipped with a stove top and very clean. Laundry facilties available which we used. Washer was free and $2for the dryer. Host was very welcoming and helpful.

The view from our room was amazing. Loved spa bath but there were lots of ants by the bath and we had to clean.. maybe you can do something about it.

Our stay at Cottage Mews

We have stayed at Cottage Mews before but quite a while ago. It is still a very nice place to stay but could do with some maintenance and updating.

Great as always

Small motel with a path access to the lake. Nothing fancy and room was expectedly cozy but everything was clean and comfortable and the owners helpful and friendly. Good location just outside the town. Nice to walk along the lake and enjoy the scenery of the flowers and mountains. Good value for the money.

Charming property, cute room with a little courtyard, had everything we needed, comfortable and cosy. Owner was very helpful with recommendations and had free laundry.

Great value

Fabulous one night stay with a view of Lake Taupo little passage way took you straight to the lake so a wonderful location. Facilitates were great with the added advantage of a small balcony to sit out on

Our neat, comfortable rooms were a pleasure to stay in. We enjoyed the spa bath and easy walks to the lake.

Just stayed here overnight - but was fantastic - definitely the best motel we’ve stayed in whilst on our travels. Great selection of utensils so could actually cook a meal. Lovely hot bath and you could even wash your clothes for free in the laundry room. Great value for money. Would be lovely to stay here in the summer with being so close to the lake

We had a wonderful stay with our fur baby. The room was great and had everything we needed. We loved the lake being so close. We would recommend the place and will be back for sure.

Amazing place, cant wait to stay there again. Love that it is pet friendly and we can take our dog with us. It's in a beautiful spot right on lake Taupo, Couldnt ask for better

What was unique, was in the private court yard was an ashtray, whether one smokes or not, this was unique. Not just a sand pit dish. The unit was very clean, tidy and accommodated to our needs. Nice place to relax after a travel.

We enjoyed a nice spa bath in our apartment. It might not be the most modern place but eventually was clean and in working condition.

Our room was very dated and tired looking, the facilities were clean but definitely overdue for an update. We loved the little courtyard out the back for our dog & while we couldn’t see the lake, access to it was literally down the path which was fantastic for your morning stroll. Great little motel, priced accordingly

Loved this property! Clean, and Tidy, with great communication with the managers/owners. We were arriving late, so they turned the heat pump for it. Which was lovely gesture.

Nice short walk to the lake. Dog friendly. Small enclosed courtyard. Spa bath & good shower. Unable to get the air-conditioning to stay working. Would stay again.

Good property with parking

Staff were very friendly and the units were clean and serviced daily. Central location with the lake being two minutes walk away and Taupo central less than 5mins drive. We had a in-room spa which was a nice way to relax at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend

Quaint motel

Lovely people running the place! I was able to do laundry which was amazing. The washer and detergent were free and the dryer costs two dollars. The spa bath in the bedroom was a nice treat. The split level bedroom and sitting/kitchen area offered plenty of room to spread out.

Excellent place to spend your holiday, great customer service. We also liked the Manager's two cute fur babies.

Nice location, would stay there again

Just very old and not updated, curtains were ripped and the whole upstairs needed updating. Next door rooms taps made a lot of noise . Very musty and very hot upstairs when we arrived, which affected my breathing, sinuses and gave me a headache. Not to mention the overuse of a perfumed spray made it worse.

Very clean and comfortable with lovely view! The only minus is that property doesn't have sound proof walls and we could hear all neighbors walking and talking from 6 am.

Always a great place to stay in Taupo staff always friendly and rooms well thought out and lovely and clean.

Lovely apartment with a Lakeview. Some of the decor a little tired but very clean and comfortable with a lovely lounge and kitchen area. Loved being able to hire kayaks on our checkout day and walk a minute to tne water. Helpful staff in facilitating this. Loved that the sailing club is a two minute walk for drinks and coffee. 4 minute drive to town. Great place to stay

Perfect for a very comfortable stop en route Auckland to Wellington

An interesting set out with bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and kitchen/living upstairs. A pretty cool view across the lake from upstairs. The Ironman was happening during our stay so lots of people around but once the doors were closed the noise was gone. Free laundry with paid dryer. I really enjoyed our stay here. Would just have liked it if the staff on check in gave us a bit more information about amenities and dining/events but I thought it was great.

One of the best places we stayed at in NZ. Very comfortable, well presented and clean. Would stay here again.

Convenient and easy access to water and dining.

This property’s location (right on the lake and a little way out of Taupo (so quiet but not annoyingly far away from town) was great. The property was clean and the amenities were good. Beds nicely made up with crisp fresh sheets. The decor and layout was a little dated and tired but all in all it was a good clean convenient place to stay, with excellent lake access.

Extremely lovely small motel near the lake. Despite the fact that it is a bit far from the shopping and restaurants, we were very pleased with the rooms and the service.

Not really in top 1%

Our expectations were high as we entered the driveway, noting the prominently displayed sign recognising the property as one of the top 1% of hotels on Trip Advisor – despite being a motel. Perhaps this might be a great motel, but my verdict is that it’s closer to the bottom, rather than the top, 1% of hotels. Our room would have been quite familiar to a visitor from the 1980s, with the décor, mini kitchen and furniture a throwback to that era. The light fittings were so old they were rusting away with the old style light bulbs pumping out the heat. The TV was a little newer, the 50 inch centrepiece (an early TV version from Samsung with a resolution of 760ip) was a mere 13 years old and so incompatible with the resolution of todays laptop. The crockery was definitely from the past, but it was more akin to those found in student accommodation. There were four very small cheap main dinner plates and bowls, but just three water and wine glasses plus three mugs but only the most basic cutlery for two. The casserole top and bottom were from different sets. Meanwhile the super cheap plastic bin (surely not another 80s relic?) had a split lid, and no differentiatIon between recyclable and landfill. I suspect that once upon a time, maybe when it was built, the property had a great view of the lake, a major implied attraction, but not any more. Another building has been built in front and so taken the prime spot, therefore very few rooms actually can see the water (see photo).

Room could do with a fresh cost of paint and reception stank of cigarettes which was extremely off putting. But the bed was nice and it was quiet.

A great blend of modern conveniences with a traditional aesthetic. The management and staff were helpful and friendly. A great home base from which to explore Taupo and area!

Nice and Comfy

Nice comfy cottage . Only challenge it was on two levels . Master bed had a half bathroom as well as a small Jacuzzi. Storage area was little small . Overall a convenient place .

A comfortable welcoming overnighter that ticked the boxes. A short stay but one where we could relax in comfortable and pleasant surroundings. Owner was great and made us feel most welcome. Happily come back here again.

Cute and Cosy Cottage Mews

Very happy with our choice of Accommodation. Lovely 2 storey unit. Bed and wonderful spa bath downstairs and lounge/kitchenette upstairs with partial Lake View. Really cosy and nicely decorated. Easy access down to the Lake to join the Boardwalk for a stroll around the lake and just a couple of minutes walk to the 2 Mile Bay Yacht Club for a Pizza and a drink and live entertainment on weekends. Lovely Lady welcomed us when we checked in. Very happy and would stay again.

Great service, location and facilities. Our apartment was 2 story with a spa bath. It wad nicely decorated and supee clean. The staff were fantastic.

Taupo Motel

Me and my family stayed one night very comfortable .Owners very welcoming .I would recommend this Motel to anyone travelling to Taupo.Close to township as well.Great location.I will stay here again.

Spacious Cottages

The Mews Cottage was a great place to stay. We were there for one night and it was adequately comfortable. The interior was a bit dated but a nice view of the lake and plenty of space.
