The property is really nice with a nice clean pool, ocean front and over water bungalows, great food and awesome staff! 1 minute boat ride to Bocas.

There are limited dining options - the first day we arrived the both restaurants were closed - breakfast took over an hour each day which is too long - dinner was great the lobster with passionfruit butter was well work it. It is a cute spot but you do need to take a water taxi anywhere you go, the rooms are small but okbjust for sleeping

Definitely Recommend

It was awesome from the minute I arrived. Family owned business that went out of their way to ensure every detail was covered. Helped book excursions, gave suggestions on things to do. The food was incredible, everything I had and I had at least 2 meals there a day was delicious. The waitresses were friendly and responsive The bartenders were all so much fun with great personalities. Gave average rating on noise but learned turn AC on and that drowned it out.

Great place to stay

Really enjoyed staying here. It is a cute, well-kept-up resort that is family owned. The staff are very nice and helpful.

En general la limpieza estuvo genial y el lugar rústico un poco antiguo pero todo en Bocas es igual. Para quedarse en familia está súper bien. La comida es poca, la ducha estaba mala, calentaba a quemar o completamente fría. Habitación sin ventalacion porque si se abría la ventana se metían los mosquitos que además pican súper duro. La piscina de agua muy fría.

Good for max three days

Don’t look into the corners. One week was too long. On the bright side - hot showers were good and the bed was comfortable. Sink was loose and toilet third world. The bar staff (Ana) was the best😁

quiet place a couple minutes and $1 water taxi to and from town. Great owners and staff.

This place was the best spot on the island in my opinion. Our dogs loved it and the staff were really great. Felt safe and welcome. Great location on the island with easy access to taxis whenever needed. Highly recommend if staying on canenero island.

Great hosts with great meal options.

We stayed here for 2 nights and the hosts were great. The rooms were great as well. I only wish the bar was open later and on Wednesdays seems like they do not open at all. For a hotel I would think guests want to have drinks by the pool while they are on the property. You can jump right off the docks into the clear water and see all types of fish. If they ever change the restaurant/bar times I will go back for sure.

Had a great stay at the Cosmic Crab. Dining options were great on premises and the property was clean and beautiful. Hope we can join you again someday!

Just a quick boat ride from Bocas Del Toro to a super cute small waterfront resort with pool bar and restaurant ! Staff was very helpful with tours and directions to give the water taxis for what piers and so on

Must stay

It was great Jone the owner was awesome, the food was great. To get a water taxi to the property is not a problem.

I do not recommend the cosmic crab. There were 3 of us staying for 4 nights in the hummingbird cabin and we could not wait to leave. The property has potential but has been neglected. The cabins smell like raw sewage inside and out. The water pressure was very low. I have been living in Panama for years now and am very accustomed to rustic accommodations but this place is just poorly managed, and poorly maintained. The restaurant closes at 7:30 and was barely open during our entire stay. Whenever we needed anything it always felt like we were inconveniencing the staff and like our being there was such a burden. We never asked for housekeeping but when we did ask for towels the owner scolded us for not asking “in advance”. The owner also was very rude and passive aggressive whenever we needed anything. There was no coffee the morning after we checked in and it was like we were asking for a million dollars just to get coffee that was supposed to be free every day. when we asked if we could get lunch on our last day, the owner literally told us “that’s not going to happen”. Complete lack of hospitality especially from Joan, the owner. She tries to make you feel welcomed but the moment you need something you feel like a burden. This place has potential but the management is terrible. Just stay somewhere else far away from the krusty crab.

Like that the property is on the water.

Inexpensive for what you get. I stayed in a private over the water cabin with my own private bathroom. Conveniently close to Bocas Town. Host was friendly, patient, and very helpful. Has its own restaurant and bar, so really no need to go anywhere else. I would rent again.

A Very Crabby Stay

Only stayed 2 days as we were ending our 6 weeks in Panama

It was wonderful. We just had some issues with the air conditioner, should be changed. Other than that, we had a very good time.

Great stay overall

The website (expedia) photo are very diffrent. Room has a bad odor, noisy ac, and sadly a very poor neighborhood with houses with poverty on a garbage field. All the dirt are floating on the sea. I wish i could read the other comments. Expedia helpdesk didnt help me at all. This is my last trip with expedia, asap its over i will cancell my account!

The staff was great! Had a great time there. Will definitely be back!

Staff treatment

We loved this hotel. The staff are amazing and the location is great; only a 1 minute boat ride from Isla Colon which takes you directly to the hotel. The room was very spacious with comfortable beds and a small fridge. A half hour stroll through the friendly neighbourhood and you on the other side of the island. The only thing worth a mention was the air conditioner was a bit noisy but we found the nights were cool enough without it.

I had a great stay at the cosmic crab, 5/5, Great location and great views of the surroundings. Staff was friendly and took time to explain all the services and hotel guidelines. Anyone who wants to have agreat time in Bocas should consider CC

Great quiet location. Easily accessable to water taxis to go to any islands. The food and Bloody Marys at Cosmic Crab are so great. We stayed 2 weeks and ate multiple meals here and neither of us had a bad meal. You can't go wrong here with location, food and cocktails.

We stayed three days and the room was not cleaned once. We also dined in the restaurant and would not recommend the lobster. The accommodations themselves were very unique and quaint however seasoned.

The place itself is beautiful and the owner is nice. I enjoyed the view, ac, the comfortable beds and room (i personally find hammocks more comfortable than the wooden chairs they have but it’s a personal preference). The island is gorgeous but FULL of Sandflies which makes it impossible to be outside for more than five minutes. It made me literally SICK, im still coping with the aftermath.

Would absolutely recommend Cosmic Crab for your stay in Bocas del Toro! Opening up our door in the morning directly to the ocean was amazing, and the breakfast each morning was sooo delicious. The owners are always available on property and are super helpful in booking tours, making local recommendations, and making sure your stay is comfortable. They even refunded guests who could not make the trip due to protests that ocuurred Panama during our stay, which is highly commendable and respectable. They truly have the safety and comfort of the guest in mind. Be aware that the rooms on the water are small, as they only have a bed next to the bathroom with no door (only a curtain) separating the two, and that the sand flies can be vicious at night, and that the restaurant is only open on Friday-Sunday, but it's too good of a price and location to pass up! It's only $1 and literally a one-minute boat ride to get to the main island, and all the boat tours pick you up right at the dock of the hotel. We had such an enjoyable stay and miss it already!

We stayed on a waterfront cabin. We stayed here for a night and did’t arrive until sundown. Our cabin was quite warm and musty from the dampness and lack of AC until we arrived. The design is carried throughout in the furnishings inside. Waking up to the water views in the morning was magical. Three things I wish were attended to: A plumbing smell which could be combatted with air fresheners. Only give the towels once guests arrive (as they were musty from the warm damp room before arrival). Complimentary bug spray/cream since we got attacked by sandflies and one of us reacted very poorly a day later without knowing. The family that owns the property is lovely and keeps that pot of complimentary coffee nicely filled in the morning (a nice cup to enjoy with the views).

Very nice property and friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the wonderful food at the restaurant.

We stayed four days and there was no room service. We had to put the toilet paper in the trash can and it was never emptied. The beds were never changed or made. There is also no sandy beach around the hotel.

Great location

Great location and fantastic staff, really helpful and welcoming but unfortunately rooms were very basic. Felt like a bit of a shed if I’m honest, sorry. Bed was not comfortable. Didn’t feel that private with the very thin curtains that you could see people walk past.

Great location and has AC! However, the restaurant is closed Mon-Thu which is inconvenient and the water pressure is basically non existent. For $100/night, expected a little more, but overall a good experience.

We had the hotel to ourselves - very peaceful and we stayed in cabins right up to the water per hostess suggestion which was wonderful - great views and lovely sea breezes all the time

Joan went out of her way to help. June barman excellent. Resort was just coming out of covid so we wish them luck. Martin and Russ.

This place has always been great I live in Costa Rica so come to bocas often this was the first time since COVID that I have been back good to see this place is perfect in every way thank you Cosmic Crab

Amazing stay, Amazing Owners, Amazing Rooms.

The views were amazing, the owners were amazing, the rooms were amazing. Everything (literally) was super-close and accessible. I could not be happier that this was the place we chose to stay at.

Nice place to stop along the highway between Puerto Viejo and San Jose. Very friendly staff, great breakfast included. Air-conditioned and clean rooms.

Great not-a-resort

Cosmic Crab isn’t really a resort as such so don’t come expecting typical resort service and facilities. That said, the food and cocktails are excellent, the cabins are small but otherwise pretty great and the staff and owners are exceptionally helpful. It’s a great spot if you want to be close to the action in Bocas while getting to relax outside of it (it’s a $1 boat trip across to the main island). I’d happily recommend Cosmic Crab.

We were in Bocas Del Toro for one night and I feel as though we made the wrong choice staying here. The natural setting of the hotel is lovely, but the experience of staying here felt more like being a student at a summer camp than a guest in a hotel. The owner felt overbearing. Not good vibes. The restaurant is also a lovely setting over the water but, unfortunately, more than half of what we ordered wasn’t available. Out of many ingredients for food and cocktails. Also, Expedia says that breakfast is included but when we arrived we found that it is in fact not included. Would return to this part of Panama for sure, but would choose to stay elsewhere. Oh, and two more things. No hot water (at all) and is situated very near some noisy neighbors or a club who played super loud music until 330am. Our two daughters, 4 and 5 couldn’t sleep. Nor could we.

Fantastic location! The hotel staff, particularly in the restaurant, were amazing. You only get wifi in the restaurant and there are no TVs in the rooms. Bocas Town is only a 1 minute water taxi for entertainment and dining.

Enjoyed the entire time there. Host and restaurant staff were awesome. Great spot and everyone was really great. Definitely will be back

Lovely location on the water

Easily accessible from Bocas. Relaxing place, owners very friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded to a cabin on the water. Whilst it was beautiful, the rooms were very small and the beds not too comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. The restaurant is closed on Mondays at the place. We had to walk through a residential area to eat. The only noise was boats going by. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.

We had a good time staying at Cosmic Crab resort. The room was nice and we loved being able to sit at the restaurant which is on the water. Beautiful setting. Kayaked around the bay and did some snorkeling.
