Affordable great place to stay for guys
The staff was very nice and accommodating to the people who stay there.
First day i walked in smelled awful came back an hour later was good. I thought the hotel was a private room from the pics but its not. But there are like 3 locks boxes one for shoes one for luggage and one for personal stuff in your sleeping hole Saw a random 2 inch caterpillar on my 3rd day.
This place is SO convenient and cheap. It's well maintained and comfortable. Sakuragaokacho is a pretty neighbourhood: there's a street near this hotel that's maybe my favourite in Tokyo so far. My first and only capsule experience - it's just not for me, but I can't fault commun SHIBUYA.
Nice people and nice area
Check-in and check-out went smoothly, although I think one of the other staffers didn't think I understood any Japanese. The capsule bed was pretty comfortable. There was a 7-11 a short walk away. The capsule had a TV that I could plug my Switch into, although it came with headphones that didn't seem to work. (...which is fine; I have some bluetooth headphones that I use to connect to my Switch.) Most of the other facilities were pretty cramped. The floor I was on had three toilets, although the dryer in the one I used didn't seem to work. (It had a button for it. *shrug*) And I had three keys: One for the shoe locker, one for the locker-room locker for storing my luggage (which I'd classify as 'mid-size,' and it was a tight fit) and one of the little locker in my capsule. All in all, it was the guy in a nearby capsule talking on his phone that kept me from sleeping, not anything the hotel did.
Good value for money
Good value for money. The place is pretty clean and people were not too loud when entering and exits the pods. My biggest complain is about the locker room, it’s so narrow so access to get is not convenient. If you’re solo on a strict budget I recommended it
Perfect for a short stay.
5 stars! Clean, friendly, and quiet. They provide all toiletries as well (included, no extra charge). For the price, it's unbeatable.
Pod
Great place if you just need a place to stay close to everything
For what it is (capsule style hotel) there was a bit more room then expected. Staff were helpful and ran me through the process despite not knowing much Japanese. Only issue I had were the noises made for the neighbouring rooms.
The stay was nearly perfect. The comfortableness, privacy and quietness of my bunk is spot on. The only thing I could pick about is the little smell of the restroom area.
There is not seat area to make phone call because seating area close in before 9:00AM asking you go to locker area make phone calls
Great
Everything was to a very good standard. Even the meeting area down stairs where you are charged to use, turned out to be a very good deal as there is a vending machine which is free so, evens out. The only thing that concerned me everytime i used it was the access ladder on d5, its position is an accident waiting to happen.
A great overnight stay for a great price!
The place is so clean and comfortable. I was in Tokyo for an overnight layover so it was perfect. It was an easy walk from the train station.
I like the staff they are friendly next time I come back there I will be speaking Japanese :) Would be better if they can speak English though well :)
First time staying in a capsule hotel, and wasn't terrible but I'll probably stick with actual hotels. Not a bad option as its in a good spot if you're staying for a day or two.
Pretty comfortable and had more space than I thought in my capsule
As always, it’s clear. People are friendly. In a walking distance from Shibuya station.
Great stay as always! I am regular customer. So you can guess!
Absolutely great place to stay! Clean, safe, in a walking distance from Shibuya Station and not so pricey as well! I have stayed her 4 times already and loving it each time!
cheap and comfortable
simply put enjoyed my stay
This was my first time staying in a hostel and it was a great experience. Extremely polite staff and very clean, they maintain cleanliness everyday. Another perk is that they supply you with shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc.
Good for an overnight stay
Good location. Within comfortable walking distance of Shibuya Station. Similar to some of the other newer capsule hotels in Japan I've stayed in. The capsule area and toilet/washroom/shower areas were very clean. A good range of toiletries provided in the washroom. I like that it has a luggage room for you to store large luggage which comes equipped with cable locks. Although it's unlikely that anyone will just make off with your luggage considering that 1) it's Japan and 2) there's 24-hour CCTV surveillance of the area, the added security of the cable lock does give some extra peace of mind. One thing to note is that there is a flight of several stairsteps to get from the reception area to the capsule floor. The stairs are rather narrow and may be challenging to use if you've got large or heavy luggage. For my single night stay, I was able to get a good sleep in the capsule and did not encounter any considerable issues. I'd recommend this if you're looking for an affordable place to stay for a night.
Have stayed at commun Shibuya a few times now during different trips and its always very nice. Great amenities, and quiet dorms.
This is my go to place when I just need a few days and I’m by myself. The staff is friendly and helpful
- It looks much messy and old than the pictures. - They didn't change my sheets for days until I asked for it. Same with the clean towels, I had to ask every single day for new ones, otherwise they wouldn't change them. - The location is great tho, 5 min walk to Shibuya station.
No common area for free, is capsule or street walk
Is my first time in a capsule hotel, so maybe my evaluation is unfair. There are 2 very negative items that I do not know if are common to all capsules: 1- common area is charged 100yens per 15’, just to use a table and a seat (some free coffees are available as well). So, or you stay in your tiny capsule, or go to walk Maybe all capsules are alike... I do not know. 2-there is no place to seat at any place on lockers or bathrooms areas, is very uncomfortable to change yourself workout risking to get your cloth wet (as happened with my socks), put and take out shoes. Lockers place is very tight also. About the capsule, bath and restrooms, they are clean, very organized and well equipped
It was simple and easy. Beds were comfortable. Check in was seamless. Overall very good experience for this kind of establishment
Great stay, great price.
I got to the property at around 9pm and the hostess was very kind. She introduced me to the layout, where to change shoes, etc. The bed was comfy and cozy. The facilities were very clean. They have an early 10am checkout time, and they dont store baggage. Baggage storage at the station is cheap though.
It was very good!
Under Expected Staying
Wifi connection is so weak as it keep disconnected after connected for few second. So i can't enjoy this service. And we are not allow to sit at the table areas for a while , as this is for their customer who rented this place, so we as tenants also can't use it. They don't provide trousers or short pant to wear inside the hotel area, together with the bath robe that is provided by hotel, so got tenant wear underwear go to toilet and never be cover. And hotel staff can't communicate well in English, even in simple and easy English , and can't get any assistance from them. They will ask you to google online if you want to find up where is the famous Ramen restaurant in Shibuya, which finally I am able to find out myself.
Alright but a bit annoying
In general it was alright but a few things reduced the overall scores. * You had to go to the reception every day to get a new towel. * I know I'm not supposed to sleep until mid day but partying in Tokyo is probably not that uncommon but when the staff basically shouts back and forth while cleaning, you get a bit annoyed at being woken up. * They didn't let me keep my carry on luggage at the hostel luggage space for an additional 3 hours after check-out while I waited for my train back to the airport so I had to go and rent a luggage space at another place.
Good wash facilities, with all toliteries covered (inc. shaving foam, hair styler). Spacious beds, and they let me keep my baggage there before I checked in. Only downside as previously mentioned is that guests have to pay to use the common room, but if you don’t mind doing using your capsule for chilling out then you’ll be fine.
Its cleanliness and accessibility, i enjoyed the placed you just need to walk to have a short tour...
Good place to stay for a short trip if travelling
Good place to stay for a short trip if travelling light. Cons: Little locker room means lots of baggage is a little bit tricky to manage and the mattresses are more like very thin futons so not the lost comfortable. Wi-fi in my capsule was a bit week too. Pros: However, it's a real novelty to stay in capsule hotel and staff where very helpful when I stupidly managed to lose my key. The place is extremely clean and provides you with free everything from toothbrush, hairbrushes, ear buds and shower gel, shampoos etc. Great location near Shubuya station and crossing, and very affordable too.
Efficient and clean hostel at a great location near Shibuya Station. I just wished there would be an elevator.
It is a capsule hotel, so you shouldn't expect much. The room ('capsule') itself is clean and not unbearably cramped for a 5'10 guy with average weight. What I didn't like was the locker room, though, as there was so little space between lockers that 2 people could hardly access lockers on the same row. And although the place is strictly nonsmoking, I did find a piece of cigarette on the floor of a shower booth. The location is of course great - it is Shibuya after all - but you have to walk up a small hill to get to the hotel.
The staff were friendly. The beds and general area was very clean. It was an approx. five to ten minute walk to Shibuya train station so its location was very convenient. I was at first very hesitant to try a capsule hotel but not anymore. I will be staying there again my next trip to Tokyo. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Great staff and comfy beds. I would stay here again!
Commun Shibuya
Straight forward capsule hotel I chose to be close to my bus stop, would pick again if I was in the same situation.
It was very clean and surprisingly comfortable. The sleeping area is just for... sleeping. I was looking for a place to get restbfor the night and it was perfect.
Convenient location.
Clean place in convenient location. Good value for the price. Front desk people were great. Not much luggage space though.
Great and clean. Just missing air conditioning vents inside the capsules.
Too much light!
The capsule itself was good, and so were the facilities. But as someone who prefers a pretty dark room to sleep in, I struggled to snooze here. The curtain at the end of the capsule didn’t block out much light, and the fluorescent tubes were on all night...
First time at a capsule
Really good experience and really enjoyed my stay and close to town to!
Cheap convenient and clean!
Friendly staff clean facillities and very cheap! Excellent place to stay.
Excellent for backpackers
Great first time capsule experience. I wish there was an elevator for my luggage although.
Nice
Nice capsule hotel, spacious inside the capsule! Really close to Shibuya station, probably 5-10min walk.
Extremely clean
Excellent location, extremely clean. Hard to believe they keep this place this immaculate. Not a single bit of dust or dirt or smudge anywhere. This was far cleaner then the 125 dollar a night place stayed at before. Would definently come back again. I’m very tall (195cm or 6 foot 4 inches) and had no problem fitting in the capsule with plenty of room to spread out and have my arm rest above my head. Staff speaks enough English communication was never an issue. Some of the staff are completely fluent and talk as good as someone from the United States. Others knew enough that checking in and out was easy. They have a card with all the info written in English that they give you as well. Highly recommend this place. Shampo, soap, toiletries and towels all provided.
clean. need to get use to things separately kept
basic but comfortable bed!
Good
Wish they would let overnight guests use the lounge for free. There's no where else guests can sit. But extremely clean and less than 10 min away from major shopping district. Friendly staff.
Very nice service and close to shibuya station
Value capsule hotel in great location.
Pros: Value, accessibility/convenience (close to Shibuya station), new/clean Cons: Shared amenities (though wasn't really a problem as they are clean and not usually crowded) Have used this place several times when traveling alone and will use again w/o hesitation.
Good location but disappointing, ok for 1 night
Very disappointed. What to start with... The place is not clean, cleanup is superficial and you can see dirt everywhere. On the 3 sinks 2 were broken and overall feels rundown. Mattress is not comfortable and bed sheets don't stick to it. The place feel cramped even by capsul standards. There is no space to eat or work, not even a table. Finally, they do not keep baggage after checkout, a very basic service. Had to roam around Shibuya to find a locker big enough and that's not easy.
convenient capsule hotel
well organised hostel that provides everything you need for a quick stay. of course, this is a capsule style hotel, so the bed is a small box, but here inside everything is super nicely organised: a little tv, plugs, a little box for storing things. the bathroom, locker storage, laundry, is super well organised and everything is clean. I was in the bed at the very end of the corridor, so the wifi was sometimes a little unreliable, but no drama. in walking distance to Shibuya with some restaurants, convenience stores otw. Also some vending machines with cold drinks on the route. good and cheap option for a quick stay alone I would say!
It’s good location at Shibuya. This dormitory is really normal. But in Japan, I expect more friendly “omotenashi”. Staff was no friendly, and kindly…
Ein wunderbares Kapsel-Hotel. Gut gelegen, sauber und preiswert.
Very good place to sleep only problem it was very cold in the night cause the airco
The bathroom and the locker room are separated from the bedroom, which is nice but lack of space for organizing luggage. Only one bathroom were available for the entire floor, but thankfully I didn't have to wait in line for too long to take a shower. The staff were generally helpful. The location is in the quieter side of Shibuya. A good place to stay with convenience and away from the crowds.
Stayed for 7 nights. Overall quite good for the price. About 20 people stay in the same hall, but there wasnt much noise during my stay. Mattress was too short and not comfortable to lay on. Luggage closets had only room for one item so there was lots of luggage that didn't fit spread along the walls in the storage room. There were 2 showers but only 1 was operative.
