The staff at Coco de Mer hotel is very friendly. They come for some small talk when you have breakfast and make you feel welcome at dinner as well, during the day. The reason why this hotel really was not good for us (and we guess more people) is the highly overpriced rooms. First we got a room that was close to the water refill station, the pool and on the way for all guests to go to their rooms. It was in a corner without any view at the sea. We heard everything and were not able to sleep at the time we wanted. Slept really bad because of all this noice. The matras was hard and pillow did not give any support. Then they moved us to another room, further down the road. A room with a door to another room (connected room). As of that time we were in the room together with our neighbors as we could hear everything they said. They kept on talking until late at night, which kept us up and did not allow us to sleep. We asked the staff to talk to them or help us with this again the next night, nothing happened. For a hotel that costs more then 500 euro per night, I would expect way better service, more privacy, a good bed, better rooms. It really is not wort this money.

Our stay at the Coco De Mer hotel was delightful and exactly what we needed. The peaceful ambiance allowed us to fully relax, and the staff were amazing—always smiling, very helpful, and welcoming. Hotel manager Ash was particularly impressive, taking the time to walk around and introduce himself. Tharindu was also fantastic, greeting us with open arms. We organized a wedding anniversary dinner, and it was just beautiful. The accommodations were comfortable and well-maintained, adding to our sense of contentment. We highly recommend Coco Der Mer for anyone seeking a tranquil getaway with outstanding hospitality.

Black Parrot Suites, Praslin

We stayed in Black Parrot Suite 3 which had everything which we needed including a magnificent view from the balcony. A large room with a sitting area from which to enjoy the aforementioned view. We felt it was worth the extra to stay in the Suites as it had a more upmarket feel and what amounted to an almost private beach. The only downside was that the wifi continually dropped out and sometimes refused to connect on our phones although iPads were generally fine. All of the team with whom we had contact were absolutely lovely and very efficient whether it be in the restaurant, the Suites, reception and even the watersports centre. Breakfasts were very good and the evening buffet (for those on half board) was varied. Would we stay again? As an upmarket property away from it all then it`s ideal but you do really need a car if you want to get out and about to explore the island.

There was no acknowledgement for being a VIP gold member or any benefits provided. During check in we were provided with the unifmmfo by a friendly elderly gentleman, but after that we were just provided with a key to our room and nothing else. No explanation as to where the room was or where our luggage was.

The family of 4 of us stayed at the Coco de Mer for 14 days in May 2023. We really loved the holiday and the location, nice, and quiet, enjoyed the relaxation. My Mom had the accident, the staff was really very attentive and understanding. Many thanks to Collette and Harry and others during the food servings and Ahmed for organizing our trips and excursions and also my Dad's birthday cake. We really had a great time.

Lovely little hideaway. Pretty units overlooking the beach and ocean. Staff was very attentive and can't fault any of them. It's a little cut off so you would need taxis or a rental car to get around. Food was great too :)

Drinks were below average. Don't think they know how to make them. Overall a good experience and would stay again.

This is a privately-owned hotel with 52 rooms only. Very friendly staff! Nice location. Comfortable rooms. VERY GOOD restaurant - a-la-carte prices mutch less, compare to outside restaurants. Food is great - everything i tried was testy, fresh, well prepared. Stayed in this hotel 5 days and every day tried different food in the restaurant. Wasn't disappointed - food was great. Negative: This hotel is mentioned as Expedia VIP Access hotel. As Golden Expedia member i was expecting standard addtional perks - room upgrade (if rooms available), SPA discounts, etc. Unfortunately, nobody care that you Expedia Golden client. So, VIP Access status of the hotel not real. The rest - nice hotel to stay. Really noce for it's price (if you can't afford higher priced hotels like Constance, for example). If i would have to stay again on Praslin, i would most probably chose Coco de Mer Hotel again.

A disappointing stay. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 1PM and were told our room was not yet ready. After 15-20min wait we were finally able to go to the room and found a used razor blade under the sink which is not only gross but also dangerous. We also did not have towels in the bathroom and almost no toilet paper. The condition of the room was quite poor, the furniture outside was stained. Restaurant service was appalling in our experience. We went to get dinner with friends and waited for the meal for over an hour while our friends have received theirs 20min after ordering. When the food arrived it was not even the correct order not as described in the menu.. needless to say that we left. I have to say though that the staff are are very polite and friendly it is just that the amenities of the property have not been maintained.

The hotel has been generally great for us. The room was nice with a view to the sea and was cleaned daily. Staff is usually attentive. Pools are good, especially the upper one for suite guests, although the water in them is a bit cold. The hotel supplies you with small water bottles each day and has several water dispensers for refilling which is convenient. The hotel is located a bit far from pretty much anything else so make sure to have a rental if you're planning to see anything apart from the hotel itself. Also, during our stay the beach was covered in algae and completely unusable. It has to be said that the entire place always seems to be a little untended-to. We ran out of soap in ALL of the bottle holders around the suite, the TV remote batteries ran flat during our stay, and in general everything in the room feels dated (TV, safe, etc). Breakfast was mostly good, except one morning where we spotted ants on the table- we notified the servers, who pretty much stood cross-handed, didn't even clean the table after we moved to another one. The lunch menu is generally good as is the service. Give the dinner a hard pass- the value-for-money proposition is very low, especially the buffet option. There are enough good dinner places around Praslin.

The swimming pool side has nets on water, sleeping lounges and hammocks to star gaze, which should not be missed by any nature lover. The private beach on the resort is well maintained and has multiple rest spots for residents to lie on. Highly recommend anyone in Praslin to stay here atleast for a night.

Good experience, strongly recommend!

We spend 3 nights at the hotel. It turned out to be an amazing experience. When we checked in at night, we were welcomed with two cups of cooktail. The staff gave us a brief but useful introduction about the hotel. We were told that the hotel offered shuttle bus to one of the most beautiful beaches on this island! The room was spacious and looked exactly like the picture on the website. Everything was clean, and the bed was especially comfortable. Next morning we enjoy the breakfast with a good sea view. However, there are limited choices for food. Almost half of food was the same for 3 days. Moreover, we enjoyed dinner at 2 different restraunts in the hotel. Food was a bit overpriced considering the quality of food. But the enviornment is amazing with live music. Service was good as all staffs were polite and smiling. They said "hi" to us whenever they meet us in the hotel.

A good hotel but a bit isolated.

Lovely room but half our view was rooftops of other rooms. The beach is not great compared to many on the Seychelles, not very good snorkelling. The poor quality of the evening meal didn't justify the high price. The staff were really pleasant and the facilities were really enjoyed by our 2 year old but there are better options on the island.

Overall good

There is nothing in the area, staff are a big hit and miss. The group who greeted us the first day where amazing, A few members of the staff though really seem like they didn't want to be there. The outings where great, preslin island really has a lot of good spots, even though the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you need to take a cab to get anywhere to eat outside the hotel. Food there is decent, we where at the hotel 7 nights and the vegitarian options for my partner where very limited. For me though it was fine. I felt they could have spiced it up a bit though, food was pretty bland (i found this at every place we ate at during our 15 night stay in the seyschelles). 5 times during our stay did we get staffs hair in our food. were not fussy bout it, but thought we would mention it as we know some go nuts over it. Apart from the few staffmembers who where always in a bad mood, cleanliness of the rooms wasn't that great. We had tiny small bugs in our bed (not bedbugs) but we did get quite a few insect bites during our second half of our stay that we didnt get before, if its these insects or not i dare not say. Also when we got to our room there was hair in the bath from whoever stayed there before us. Overall we are happy with the stay, i don't think we would come back as we have done everything there already, 7 days was a bit too long as the island doesnt have that much to do. A lot for the money, but some stuff to work on.

Excellent pool and facilities, The room is large and there is a nice area to sit outside and watch the world go bye. There us a lovely welcome when you arrive and the staff are very attentive to your needs as they can't do enough for you. overrated

Very basic accommodation. For $400/night for B&B one would expect great rooms nice beds and top notch service. Beds were not made they just thrown new bedlinen on the bed. Service horrible waiting one hr for dinner to come then they serve starter and main course at same time and wrong food. No apologies or attempts to fix it. In the end they charge same price for plate of plain pasta for kids as main course pasta for adults. Booking a boat trips turns into disaster when at arrival the company (Lyly Boat Charter) tries to rip you off with crazy exchange rate and saying BBQ is not included. But main complaint is about staff at restaurant they clearly are not service oriented or even try to show they want to work there. Wrong location as well can't do anything without a car unless you want to lay at tiny pool.

Friendly staff, good food, excellent views

Love it all, missing it already. Things that can be useful to know: *Two cash line machines, outside on the right of Praslin airport. It only accepts visa and MasterCard. Maximum 1500SCR. Debit cards did not work for us. * Taxis just in front of the airport exit door, cost from airport to hotel 400SCR and 300SCR coming. * Hotel staff, taxi drivers, shop keepers, guides are very friendly, helpful with a good sense of humour, just make an effort to talk to them, start the conversation. * Paul, the hotel manager, an excellent person, very knowledgeable. Anything you need, he will get it. * No sand flies, no mosquitoes. We did not use any insect repellent. * Drinks (not even water or soft drinks) are not included at dinner time. Stay in Paradise

Lovely hotel with many positives, the hotel is only about a 15 minute journey from airport along an easy road to drive if renting a car (most things are at the most a 30 minute drive away except for Anse Lazio which is about 45 min but that's the farthest you'll need to go). Upon our arrival we were presented with a complimentary fruit cocktail and warmly greeted by Paul (duty manager) who went through everything in clear and great detail, it was one of the best welcomes we've received from a hotel. The superior room we had was gorgeous with stunning veranda views of the sea and easy access to the beach area from our back door. It was clean and spacious with a great bathroom. Bed was super king size and very comfy. Staff were very helpful, managed to organise us a rental car for the next morning even though we had only asked the evening before. Josef (sports manager) was very approachable and full of information about activities on the island. Food-wise, there's the Hibiscus restaurant which serves a buffet every night (the theme changes everyday) and would definitely recommend as there is a great selection of tasty food. They had a Creole evening with traditional sega dancing afterwards which was great fun. The other option is food from the bar which serves the usual burgers, sandwiches with a some hot dishes. The food is good quality but the menu can become a bit dull if you eat there the whole week. In summary, wonderful place to stay, excellent staff.

Secluded getaway

Room was in perfect location; close to the pool for easy access from patio, but not right off pool so still private. Pool was fantastic; very large, so great for actual swimming. Wonderful views of ocean and hotel grounds/gardens. Lots of lounge chairs all around for relaxing. Hotel grounds were beautiful, with lots of areas to sit and relax. A very magical place; quiet and secluded, away from towns and tourist areas. However, location is not convenient if you want quick & easy access to everything. For that I would recommend staying on other side of island. The free shuttles are not very useful. There was no pick-up from jetty; hotel recommended we take a taxi. They do offer once daily trips to park and beach, but you have to pre-book so not convenient. If you stay here, it is best to rent a car. With a car, restaurants are just 10-30 min, Valle de Mai is 10 min, and Anse Lazio is about 40 min drive. Staff was very friendly & attentive. Everyone would smile, say “hi” and ask if we needed anything. Breakfast buffet was really good, with lots of hot and cold options. The pool-side restaurant was reasonably priced with decent food for lunch and dinner. The gripes:The gym wasn’t well maintained (probably because not frequently used!). Equipment needed some upkeep and general cleaning. Bottled water was only provided on first day, which seems odd. They could afford to restock the water given the room prices! The room was a bit dark w/ only one window & few lights.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, good food

Stayed for three nights at half-board. And we were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were very clean and staff was very helpful. One glitch though. No internet in the rooms. But outside the rooms, you have free access to wi-fi. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great place all around

Excellent staff and service - everyone extremely friendly and helpful. They helped us arrange multiple side trips, car rental, etc. Room was great, definitely recommend if you're going to spend the money to go all the way to Seychelles, might as well get one of the suites. Their beach is very nice. Food was solid. Great place all around.

Superficially nice, but lacks the niceties

I was pleasantly surprised with the nice welcome but disappointed to look out at the sea, which appeared to be more gray/brown than blue/green. My disappointment increased when I learned the rooms did not have Wifi or complimentary bottled water. Bottles were not allowed to be re-filled from the water dispensers but were sold for $5 apiece at the bar. The food wasn't terribly inspiring, but the staff were kind. They helped me hire a car so I could get away from the hotel; the nice beaches are a 25 minute drive away, and there's no free shuttle on weekends. This seems to be a good option for family getaways, though I was disappointed to see one father relieving himself into the sea.

Good buffet, nice beach - bit overpriced

Bit overpriced for the facilities at the hotel, however, has a nice beach, and is in a serene calm area of Praslin. However, quite far from Anse Lazio - the best beach. The buffet was quite lavish.

Ideally secluded and tranquil. Has a very warm feel and is a fantastic place for a getaway. The black parrot pool deck has an amazing view and the hotel has its own private beach with a couple of hummocks. It's a fair distance from the famous Anse Lazio beach but they do offer a free bus there and back.

I WENT TO THE SEYCHELLES TO HAVE A BREAK FROM MY VERY BUSY SCHEDULE. I FOUND IT PEACEFUL, RELAXING AND OVERALL A BLISSFUL EXPERIENCE. THE STAFF WERE PLEASANT AND NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR THEM. AS A SOLO TRAVELLER, EVERYBODY MADE MY STAY COMFORTABLE AND ENJOYABLE. THE FOOD WAS VARIED AND TO A HIGH QUALITY. THE CREOLE EVENING SHOULD NOT BE MISSED. I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD FEEL OUT OF PLACE BEING A SOLO TRAVELLER BUT I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. THE MANAGEMENT WERE POLITE, APPROACHABLE AND FRIENDLY. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS I MADE AS A CHOICE OF RESORT. I WILL DEFINATELY GO BACK.

Paradise at a reasonable cost.

We spent 5 nights at the Black Parrot Suites and found everything first class and impressive for a resort. The atmosphere, choice of two pools, food and entertainment very good. All of the staff are very friendly and very helpful. The only downside is there isn't anythng close by in the way of restaurants, but this isn't a big problem as the food is good there. Looking forward to going back.

Beautiful beach, lovely short stay

A really beautifully located hotel, with a lovely beach and pool. The pier was our favourite for relaxing, or snorkeling. There were fish all over right off the pier, and the beach too. Generally a really good choice, for a few nights, although perhaps not for a long stay. We were in the entry-level rooms, but were really big, quite simple, but nice. The only thing I'd imagine getting tired of if we were there longer is the food. It was decent, but with a little extra attention to the food and staff service, the hotel would be excellent (room for improvement there). We hired a car to be able to get around the island which worked out brilliantly, since Praslin is amazing. Would do it all again. Thank you.

Great hotel, but some staff needs to find another job

We had a great time, great rooms and locations. Everything was great until we realised that this hotel charges money for free drinking water!!! Unbelieveble right?!? Probably the only hotel in the world! Some staff (Andrew), not sure of his position, but he acts as if he owned that place, need some serious customer service lessons. Very rude and arrogant! Shame this ruined our other than that great experience :( A big thank you to the reception girls, they are amazing.

Great staff, lovely hotel

Coco de mer is a lovely hotel; not only does it look great but the staff were very welcoming & generous. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with complimentary fruit cocktails at the lobby where Tatiana our very own welcoming committee, took us through hotel amenities, restaurants, a map of the Island and the bus schedule. She even helped us plan our day. Even though we came 1hr past breakfast time, the staff at the pool bar managed to put together a light meal from what was left at the buffet for no charge at all! The room was very large, clean and I loved their special touch of Bougainville petals around the room, which they replaced with fresh ones every day. Each room has a porch and we were lucky enough to get a room by the beach & pool. Food was okay, nothing to write home about and not overly priced. Staff were helpful in finding us a car to rent & amending our flight booking from Praslin back to Mahe. Make sure you make use of their complementary shuttle bus to Anse Lazio beach & their nature walk. The hotel is located almost midway between the 2 extremities of the Island and along the 1 main road of the Island. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel gates. Do start a conversation with the guard, he knows a lot about the Island & will even explain about the foliage around you, from the mango to the cashew & cinnamon trees. I was there last week of July & the weather was lovely, I'm even considering to book again for next year!

Nice hotel with a beautiful view of the beach. But it not at the side to view either the full sunset or sunrise. The beach where the hotel is located isn't too beautiful. But the hotel offer feel shuttle service daily to the most beautiful beach in pralin - ans lazio. The staff in the hotel are super friendly and helpful. The facilities of the hotel are superb. The hotel also provide free guides to bring tourists to trek up the hill behind the hotel to the peak to have the bird eye view of the whole pralin. Lastly, the hotel provide free flow of coffee/tea with some cookies from 4pm-5pm daily.

Best hotel we stayed at in all of the Seychelles .

The Black Parrot Suites live up to all expectations and in fact exceed them. Having a pool with no children just for the 12 suites made it very special. Fiona is in the suite lounge every day from 3 to 11 to cater to your every wish. The 4 hour free trip to Anse Lazio beach was a real winner . The beach is simply one of the very best in the world and is staffed with lifeguards. All of the food at the hotel is brought in from Dubai and is quite good. I had a huge filet mignon with a delicious red wine sauce. The staff are all amazing, the suites are luxurious but comfortable, and the grounds are impeccably maintained. It was the second or third visit for most of the fellow guests that we met and some were nearing their second week and still very content with everything and would return again.

Nice and quiet hotel

The hotel was very nice and situated right on the beach but its on the quiet side of the island. Mind you, the hotel has a great view of the ocean, but is too far from everything. There are no take out restaurants within walking distance. If you get this hotel, better rent a car if you need to go anywhere. The hotel in itself was really good. The rooms were large and clean, the staff was very courteous. The food, however is not their strength. I would recommend eating out.

A hotel that takes care of its environment

Exceptionally well presented and organized: we much enjoyed our stay. We particularly commend the hotel's efforts to preserve the natural environment on its property to offset its own carbon footprint and to provide a nature walk facility for its clients. Other large hotels on Seychelles should follow this example.

Excellent hotel, but disappointing food

We spent 4 nights at the Black Parrot suites, and the room, staff, and property overall were fantastic. The room was done quite well (but no iron?!), and the staff very helpful. But we couldn't get over the food - while breakfast was pretty decent, the lunch (there's only one option - the bar) and dinner (again, just one restaurant) were seriously lacking in quality. The meat was cooked to a tough/rubbery consistency, and the flavors lacked or worse, were inappropriate. We spent the same amount on a cab and a restaurant in the city. We certainly don't mind paying, but expect the food quality to be on par with such an otherwise wonderful establishment. Also of note, the private beach had a lot of seaweed on it (no one was using it as a result), but this may be a seasonal issue, and the hotel offered kayaks (among other nice amenities) which allowed us to visit a few small "beaches" nearby. There's also a complimentary shuttle to Anse Lazio - highly recommended. We hope they get a better head chef - the property deserves it.

Couples hotel in Seychelles

This is not necessarily the ideal destination for the solo traveller, but couples will love the fantastic rooms - particularly in the Black Parrot part of the hotel - and the spa which enjoys fantastic views, is nicely appointed and the staff there are top notch. Elsewhere the staff seemed very laissez faire and at times uninterested, but not to the point of offense. Dining was ok, but nothing great, with buffets for breakfast and dinner. Lastly, Internet connectivity in the public areas was fine, and fast, but expensive at a price of £5GBP per hour of use and wasn't available in the room.

Coco de mer

Like all hotels in the Seychelles, they are rather expensive, but in particular this hotel was of a good standard and they tried very hard to cater for all nationalities and tastes. Downside, if you don't like driving a car the hotel is a little isolated and taxis are not cheap owing to the cost of imported fuel which is slightly higher priced per litre than Europe. We found the hotel all round very good and especially the trip to La Digue which is only 15 minutes away by ferry, truely a destination not to be missed.

Ok, but could be better

This was our after Russian winter recovery trip. We had welcome cocktail which was very nice. The room was pretty big with small but very neat balcony (Standard room). There is a bath two steps away from the bed in the same room. The area hotel located at is hilly so it's quite a bit of execise to get into the room from the beach. The hotel is rather small (even though it's considered big by the Seychells standarts). The hotel has own beach. It's splitted into two areas. One is for swimming and other is more for snorkelling/kayaking. Way to much sea grass in the water which is ok for snorkelling kayaking but not for swimming, also makes beach and water look dirty. Plenty of sunbeds available - no problem with space on the beach. Has small garden, beach human-size chess, mini-golf (requires reinovation), gym (free), bicycles, kayaks (free), spa. Bugs is a bit of an issue in the room. Anything sweet or smelly will get covered buy these little things very fast. Hotel food and drinks are a bit of an issue as well. Pretty much everything is served with french fires, you can ask for rice though. The fresh juices seems to be a problem for the hotel as well. It feels like 50% of the time we've asked for fresh pinaple/orange/coconut/mango juice it was not available. Often cocktails has fresh juices replaced with juice from the package. Monday, wednesday, Friday has a free bus from the hotel to anse lazio beach (40 min trip). No slippers, dressing gowns

When we reached the Hotel, we were met by a courteous supervisor named "Richie". He was extremely helpful in guiding us regarding what to do during our stay in Praslin. He also followed up with us the next day and he was always there to assist us in any query we had. The Hotel is quite clean, calm and in good condition. The breakfast buffet is diverse and of good quality. It's an excellent value for money. I recommend hiring a car which costs 50 Euros a day and going aroung the Island to visit the most popular places like: Anse Lazio, Anse Volbert, Vallee de Mai and Lemuria resort. Staying in Coco de mer Hotel in Praslin was really great...

Coco de Mer, Praslin, Seychelles

Despite a poor/mediocre review in The Lonely Planet we were more-than-pleasantly surprised. Trip advisor had also rated the hotel positively. The resort itself is very well maintained and service is terrific. The sunsets are beautiful; the breakfasts sublime. The excursions that are offered by the hotel (i.e. the one to Anze Lazio and the nature walk) are wonderful extras offered by the hotel. Car rental is inexpensive which was surprising since everything else in Seychelles is quite costly - especially meals. The hotel meals are similarly costly but on par with meals everywhere really. The atmosphere at the hotel is very peaceful and the setting is very pretty; although the sea in the spring time on that side of the island was quite turbulent and full of seaweed. The other side of the island has much bluer water and nicer beaches; but, the beach at Coco de Mer is quite adequate and absolutely fine. The personnel at the hotel were extremely helpful and very service oriented. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. I recommend this hotel very very highly to families or couples looking for a laid back vacation. It's not close to any shopping or restaurants, etc. but if you just want a relaxing but interesting holiday and are keen on excursions to various islands and beaches, hiking, etc., it's paradise!
