Great location

The hotel was in a good location. 5 mins walk to train station. Room has good deco the bathroom was nice has a tub and separate shower area.

Efficient staff and unrivalled cleanliness. Located within easy walking distance from the train and bus station, I guess the Resort was built circa 1986 the original carpets, furniture and fixtures all remain today and are diligently cleaned by dedicated staff. It is a shame however, that much like Taiwan, nothing at the Resort has been updated since it was first built. The furniture is very worn and tarnished, the carpets worn and discoloured and the blinds/curtains in desperate need of replacement. With no screens on the windows, we woke at night covered in insect bites. The train from Taipei arrives at Hualien at 12:45 EVERYDAY, however guests are not permitted to check in before 15:00 despite rooms being ready. There is no indication of why Classic City is a “resort”, it has no pool, laundry, tennis court etc.

Breakfasts were simple but first rate

The room was clean and the bed was surprisingly big (very comfortable!). There were also a lot of food options for breakfast.

Bad way to stay in Hualien

The rooms were moudly and the toilet had a urine stench. We had to purchase own anti germ spray to clean up the toilet. My family felt itchy after sleeping one night and we forfeited 2 night stay after enduring for a night. The location of the hotel is unsavoury as there are several KTV nightclubs around the area which isnt suitable for family. I have been a loyal hotel.com gold member for over 4 years and this has been a terrible experience for my family.

There are limited facilities at the hotel. The room is not very clean. Both my husband and I got bitten by some bugs in bed. I also saw a bug coming out of the sofa. The food offering and taste is not very good at breakfast.

It's a newer place and the room that we stayed is decent. The place is close and walk-able to Hualien Main station which is convenient if taking train or bus. There are many restaurants and eateries nearby as well. The hotel does not have any other amenities so, if planning to just sleep over, it's a good option.

Good location near transport

Good location close to train and bus station. Limited food options in the area and is a distance from the night market and sights, but accessible by bus. Friendly service from staff and room was clean and spacious.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I thought it was a superb hotel. Clean and everything worked. I liked its proximity to the train station. Would recommend.

Good experience

Everything works out great in this stay, except for the soft pillows. I asked for extra pillows and they were able to deliver some for the rest of our stay.

Hualien - August 2019

Great location, near the train. Breakfast selection is great with reasonable price. Hoping they give free fitness pass in the area as this hotel does not have any fitness center.

Perfect location, friendly staff, free bicycles! Would recommend

This is excellent clean hotel. It is a few years old, but the whole room/bathroom is like new. Very comfortable. Parking spaces are limited. It might be a problem during peek season. Hotel front desk could be more friendly. They are too business like and don't offer useful information about the area. We will definitely stay here next time. Breakfast buffet is very good.

Great place near downtown with many restaurants near by, staff is super friendly, buffet is Taiwanese and didn’t include scramble eggs and we asked for it and they were super nice and make them for us!! Recommend

Convenient location close to the Hualien Train Station. The hotel looks tidy, but it's not very inviting. Our room had a very bad sewerage smell, the floors looked dirty and the bathroom needed a good scrub. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and staff were friendly and polite (except the lady at breakfast who started laughing when I told her that I didn't eat eggs - not professional at all)

It’s a little ways from the night market but a very nice hotel. Room was clean and very modern. Breakfast in the morning was good with a variety to eat.

Unexpected Delight

Really pleased to have discovered this Hotel via a personal recommendation, one which the Classic City Resort deserves & I personally endorse. A superb establishment offering much more than the Tariff suggests. Breakfast was excellent value for money offering European & local food options. Staff throughout are great, but special mention for the Restaurant Ladies whose English guidance was most welcome. Great Place to stay, so good that we returned 2 days later into our tour.

Comfortable stay

Stayed here comfortably for 2 nights to take a tour of Tarako Gorge. Room was clean, bathroom was clean. Liked the mochi snacks they provided. Within walking distance to a few restaurants and the train station. The front desk though speaks limited english. Overall a comfortable stay, but non memorable.

Nice little hotel near the train station.

This hotel is a walking distance away from hualien train station! And near a Zeng Ji mochi shop, so make sure u eat more of the fresh ones while you are there. The staff are friendly and willing to help. The room is not very big but comfortable enough. Not many shops around the hotel but there is a convenience shop and supermarket across the road. It’s not near the night market but Taxi fares are not expensive anyway.

Very clean hotel rooms, nice lobby, and very conveniently located within 5minutes walk of the Hualien Train Station. Many nice restaurants, cinema and karaoke around the hotel.

Serviceable hotel in good location.

Good location, only a 5 minute walk from the train station. Perfectly serviceable hotel with little character. The room was comfy and the shower good. No microwave or laundry facilities in the hotel, although there are plenty of laundry places in the neighborhood. Breakfast was fine and the staff friendly enough if not particularly helpful. I will likely forget this hotel pretty quickly and if I were back in Hualien I would likely stay somewhere else.

Nice hotel close to train station. Straight road to night markets

All was pretty good ONLY wish the staff in the front desk spoke any English, this is why using Expedia is so great, you can by pass alot of the issues by booking on line

Overall stay is pleasant except the front desk people should have more tourist knowledge and give better advise in places to visit. They should be more proactive

Hualien by train.

Friendly and helpful service. We booked a “suite” room, modern and well furnished, above expectations, with city view. Breakfast a particularly Asian selection. Location away from town centre but very handy to Hualien station which was ideal for us. Downtown bus 301 (about every 30 minutes or so but timetable apparently optional) leaves from near information centre outside and across from the station. Can pay with Taipei “Easy Card”. Reception booked us an excellent and affordable 8 hour private car tour to Taroko the night before but be aware this was December off-season. Experienced driver and guide. Highly recommended as the tour bus crowds are horrendous.

Stayed 2 night...overall satisfied...clean, quiet, comfotable bed, simple breakfast, 24/7 coffee n tea...convenient for me cos walking distance to train station....but a bit far to the city centre.....overall satisfied with my stay.

clean place but service needs to be improved

The room is clean. But there is no curtain or wall between shower and toilet. Also, the front desk provided whale watching tour information with 200NT more than it should be. And we are not satisfied with the touring service the hotel referred. The driver/touring guide did not provide any touring service beside dropping us to the touring site and led us to an low quality and expensive lunch restaurant. Most touring driver in Taiwan would provide service about interesting site explanation.

Better than expected. Excellent value.

Will definitely stay here again. The rooms were clean, the beds were just what we needed after a long day of touring (soft sheets and fluffy comforter). We reserved 2 rooms for 6 people. Even though we did not make a special request, the staff took the initiative and provided us connecting rooms. The stay was very enjoyable. Great water pressure in the shower. Excellent breakfast especially if you are accustomed to Chinese breakfast. The hotel deserves better rating than it has.

Good location, comfortable

We had a good experience overall here. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the train station. One thing that could improve is the cleanliness of the room as we are very sensitive to dustmite (the level that normal people would not feel anything). The bed made both of us itchy so I would recommend a thorough cleaning to get rid of dustmite. We kept waking up during the night. Other than that everything is great.

It is good for taking bus to different point but It is far away from the central of the city. We need to take taxi to city everyday because it is always raining.

Superb service - Excellent!

The hotel was about a 5-10 minute walk away from the Hualien TRA station. The hotel staff were excellent, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone who's visiting Hualien.

Comfortable

Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is located at a quiet area, but calling taxi as transportation is very easy and the receptionists are willing to help. The rooms are clean and confortable, especially the beds which make you fall asleep quickly. When we booked the hotel, it's doing promotion, so it's really money worth.

Friendly staff, 2 mins from train station and bus terminal, so very easy to go to taroko, free bike rental is very useful especially to go to cixingtan beach on bike road as well as night market visits

Within a few blocks of train station...Clean, quiet, and nice...Good Asian breakfast...They can arrange car and driver to Taroko. We were very pleased.

Wat u see is wat u get

Hotel staff unfriendly upon checkin. When i booked the hotel thru the phone i specifically asked for breakfast but due to my oversight my room was booked without. The counter guy was like i am trying to pull a fast one at him. He said "room only otherwise not this price". Anyway i heard from my children breakfast was horrible n they also skip it. Please note there was a bathtub in my room no shower area so if you have elderly please make sure to check b4 booking. Room service is good, we got a clean room everyday. Requested for extra pillow which they fullfilled. Ventilation poor room smell of smoke everyday when we return.

Nice hotel close to the train station

Overall great hotel. Excellent breakfast. Only thing I noticed was the room felt and smelled a little "musty" but that may be expected from all the humidity.

Very nice hotel near train station

Beautiful hotel close to train station but far away from downtown and market areas. Staff very helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check in a bit early which was a welcome relief for weary travelers. The breakfast was really good with lots of options and good coffee.

Fantastic, with a small but

Hotel was great, except that the common area outside the level 9 rooms smells of cigarettes in the afternoon/evening. There is no such smell in the morning right after housekeeping. Fortunately, the rooms smell perfectly fresh. This is a non-smoking facility after all.

Comfort & Convenience

Pleasant experience staying at this location. Walking distance from the train station, car rental, local restaurants and shops. Staff was always helpful and courteous. Breakfast was always plentiful and delicious. The room I had was extremely comfortable with plenty of amenities.

Comfortable and good location

We stayed only one night for a trip to Taroko national park. The hotel also provides tour contacts that it's pretty convenient. The room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was great as well. The location is walking distance (5-8 mins) to the train station although it's far from the night market.

Good value for money

This is a good value for money. Clean room with easy access to the train station. However, it is a bit far away from the business district. There is also a constant noise in the room from the mini fridge. Considering the price, this is a good value for money though.

Excellent hotel in Hualien, Taiwan

We took a train ride to HuaLien to visit Taroko National Park. It was pleasantly surprise to find out that this hotel is within walking distance to the train station. It saves us some money from taking taxi to the hotel and back to the station. Upon checked in, the staffs were helpful in showing us how to get to where we want to go, offered service to call taxi or hired driver to take us to the Gorge, and allowed us to check out bikes to bike around town. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. We enjoyed this hotel very much.

Nice hotel+staff and very close to train station

We arrived earlier than check in time, the hotel staff keep our luggage and let us take a rest in the restaurant with free coffee and wifi. Also, they advised us what's the popular restaurants there and help us to arrange the driver, even near the midnight time.

The Only Hotel You Should Stay in Hualian

My aunt stayed at this same hotel when she visited Hualian in Feb 2015 and she recommended it. We booked a room for 4 pax. The room is spacious and everything is new. The beds are comfy and pillows are fluffy, equivalent to any 5 star hotel in a big city. The location is great as well, it was beside a market. Service was great too.

A pleasant 3 nights in Hualien

The hotel is centrally located in the city with convenient parking space free for hotel guest next to the building. Reception staff is helpful, friendly and well versed in English. The room was spacious and generally clean except for a stained towel and a hair in the bathroom floor upon arrival. But this was fixed and for the rest of our time cleaning was done efficiently. Breakfast caters towards the Asian or local pallets not much in terms of bread, bakery western breakfast selection.

Good short stay hotel. Convenient location

Excellent location. 3 blocks to train/bus station.(also shuttles to tour Taroko Gorge). Next to police station for added security/peace of mind. (Though we spent 2 weeks in Taiwan and had absolutely zero concerns/safety issues!). Walk 1 block to multiple eating establishments and the ever present 7-11. Bicycles free and available to use. room and property super clean, quieter than many hotels. Only minor weakness was breakfast. Adequate but not plentiful buffet offerings. No laundry facilities which was a little issue for us.

One night in Hualien

Hotel was quiet and clean with free parking and usefull room amenities. Spacious room and a not-far, small but lively night market. Hotel staff's English is almost non-existant. Breakfast buffet had a large variety, both local and western cuisine.

The location is near the station, don't think hualien is desire to travel specially.

Nice hotel with excellent staff attitude

Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful! They were able to recommend solutions when I have difficulties with my camera which had problems.

Near main train station

The hotel is just next to the police station. So is very safe even if late. Hualien Main train station is within walking distance. Nearby there are many famous local speciality such as mochi. Breakfast was quite standard. But the downtown area is 2km away, which require to cab down. Will definitely come back again.

Awesome

Me and 2 other friends stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and we are very impressed with the hotel staff and cleanliness of the hotel. The rooms were spacious enough for 3 big guys with luggage bags (we stayed in a room with 1 double bed + 1 single bed). Hotel receptionists are always ready to answer your queries, very polite and greet you whenever you enter and leave the hotel. The free bicycle rental has been great as well, as there is a lack of bus transport in hua lien. Just ask the receptionist for what are the highlights in the area, they will give you a map and circle all the appropriate attractions, then hop on a bike and cycle around the area. Do be careful of the traffic though. Just be alert, and you should be fine. "trust" the experienced drivers not to hit you haha. Peak periods of traffic are during meal times, other than that its pretty okay. If you choose to walk, well then things get a bit far. Hotel breakfast was surprisingly good, with a big spread of dishes to choose from. Really impressed with this hotel. (2 Weeks travel in Taipei, Taichung and hualien) This hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the train station making it highly convenient.

Good and relaxing stay.

The hotel is really just a 5 min walk from the station. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good, the quality is ok but they do provide many options. We enjoyed our stay.

Excellent stay

Excellent overall. Free umbrellas, bikes, parking. Very close to Hualien train station and rental car companies. Only complaint is being allocated a room which smelled of cigarettes, but upon contacting reception, was immediately changed to a new room.
