Needs improvement.
It is in definite need of improvement. The wall paper is peeled off, rugs are old and appears dirty. The bathroom is pool area don't properly flush. My room had no security chain lock because it looks like it was broke into. Door all tore up. It was fine but for the price I would expect more.
This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever been to. Not only was I told AFTER my check in that the pool was closed for our entire stay(which is why I booked this place was for my son to go swimming)the room was dirty, the bathroom door was rusted at the bottom just very unkept. The first night it was boiling hot in the room so I decided to turn on the cool air, only to find that it got hotter when I did so. So at 3am I had to open the window when it was -30 degrees Celsius. Spoke to staff the next day and apparently their refrigeration system is broken for the entire building. I was offered a fan. The next day was the day we were leaving, decided we would take advantage of the continental breakfast before we hit the road. Went to go to the restaurant and we were told to head down the hall where we walked passed one of the hotel workers, we looked down the hall and the hallway was flooded and water was spraying everywhere while one of the maintenance men used a board to try and keep it from spraying out even more. The hotel worker told us that the restaurant was passed the hall and could walk through the flooded hallway to get there or alternatively we could use the outside entrance. At this point I was at my wits' end so we turned around and left the hotel to go to another restaurant. I have never had such a poor experience at a hotel in my entire life, extremely disappointed to say the least.
It was so cold outside that you couldn’t lock or unlock the room door from the outside, only inside. The parking lot was like a skating rink and not salted or sanded. The staff were nice though
Good stay, amenities were good (pool and gym). Sewage smell in the hallway during our stay wasn’t pleasant but rooms were clean and staff was awesome.
The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The only complaint was that the pool and hot tub were cold.
Customer service is great. Breakfast dining staff exceeds expectation, very accommodating and friendly.
Fine, nothing special
Pretty basic, the lack of glassware in the rooms is disappointing for a hotel with a restaurant on site. I had to go and get a proper coffee mug. Rooms are fine, gym is weird, the two benches are very wiggly which makes using the massive amount of weights possible.
No hit water at iam for a shower. Thebhalways were in desperate need of painting...dirty and scratched up. On a plus the bed was very comfortable and the heat worked well. Decent sized room and the food was very good from the restaurant. Also a nice hot breakfast was included.
The room was spacious enough for my large family
We had to change rooms cause the curtains fell off the wall in the first room and very hot. The second room the shower curtain and sink where plugged and the breakfast was very bad no food people waiting for food chocolate milk looked curdled
We had to move rooms because the room we were given first was dirty. The hot tub wasn’t working. There was no hot water in our room on our last day and there was an apology but no attempt to rectify the situation.
Best low price hotel in town. The property is older but everything is clean and recently renovated. The free, cooked to order breakfast is the best included breakfast I’ve ever had
Great water slide and clean rooms
My stay was good
My third stay and everytime is great, the only downfall to the third time is there complimentary breakfast was not available and that’s partially why I book here so would have been nice to know before bookings.
The property is renewed almost entirely. However the pool and some wall need a touch up. In general it’s a good point to stop.
Hot tub was not great room had a bad smell
The staff are hospitable and courteous. The breakfast is awesome and the price for the stay is so worth it.
Nice Room, Good Food, Ice everywhere on property, not safe.
Hockey tournament
The staff were very friendly, helpful and overall just the best!
Hotel tried to upgrade but has fallen short of expectations, my first room smelt like raw sewage. Got moved to a different room without any problems. New room had missing trim on the walls with nails hanging out. Transition piece between tile and carpet was coming off and was a hazard for my young children, pool was great for the kids but wasn’t very clean. Free breakfast was good. Overall I don’t think I would return even with the good price point.
Beds could use updating quite uncomfortable.
My room was excellent however most of our time was spent in or around the pool. It needs to be cleaned and maintained better. With so many people using this area the feature of the hotel pool decks were dirty and the chemicals are not tucked away from the reach of children. The staff is very good and overall an excellent stay. Hope next time the pool is cared for better.
Safe
The property was clean
It was an older hotel in a rough part of town. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The restaurant was great.
We enjoyed the pool and waterslides. Staff are super friendly
Exterior is dated but interior is all redone. Regardless of that…staff is second to none. You will not fine a more helpful staff.
Stay was good!
Good.
Breakfast and service was great. They took away the self serve continental and everything was made fresh to order with table service instead. Wish they had coffee in the lobby. Our room was partially renovated. Some lights not working, corners on the walls not quite finished. But overall clean. Pool area needs a bit of a touch up but was actually very fun.
Room was way too warm! The thermostat did not work at all. No way to control room temperature.
Very friendly front staff. Prompt service with a smile. Fun-looking waterpark. Clean property. Unique room set-up upto 6 people. Thank you.
The room we had is in need of repair and upgrades. Informed the front desk. Here’s hoping. Don’t stay in 507.
Really like the outside entrance
waited 15 min in the lounge, was going to get something to eat, only 1 couple in there besides me, did not get any service, so I left and went somewhere else
Very clean, staff very pleasant and helpful. The one difficulty was access to the breakfast. I use a wheelchair and it is necessary to use stairs.
Definitely a dated building, but super fun pool area. Very accommodating
The pool was great, with a smaller area rhats shallow for the young kids made it enjoyable for all ages. And the staff was so quick to help and always had great smiles.
For the price per night, it was totally acceptable and would stay there again. Rooms and lobby all updated, and looks really nice. Beds werent the comfiest, but maybe thats just me. Our room has a window over the pool entrance area, and it was very echo-y and the light shone in a little - not ideal, but I'm sure I could have asked for a different room. Breakfast was great. Picked this place almost specifically because of the pool and the kids were thoroughly entertained. Hot tub jets werent working, but that is minor details. Overall enjoyed.
The restaurant furniture wasn’t the greatest but the food was good. Room was clean staff was polite and friendly. Great gym and hot tub.
10/10 visted family from Red deer, amazing rooms, food and water park for the kids and grown ups !
We stayed at this hotel on the way to our destination. We enjoyed our stay so on the return trip booked a room at the hotel. The hotel staff provide great service, the rooms were clean with room to move around. Breakfast is excellent.
Rooms have terrible sound proofing, could literally hear your neighbours full conversations next door to you. Could also see a gap at the bottom and side of the door and see daylight coming in
Their was breakfast included in the stay, and the breakfast was better then any hotel I stayed at..but,the first room I received, had no AC..very hot, over 25 degrees. And the bed looked and felt like it was at least 10 years old,it was like sleeping in a wheel barrel..I had to get my room changed which was a big improvement, but the 2 nights I stayed in the other room I didn't received any compensation for staying in a room that should have been out of service. I dont think I would take a chance staying there again. Over all was decent if you get a good room and good bed. Hallways were not cleaned up well,or the floors. Shower had some rust and mold on some edges, if they did a better job and improved the cleaning.. Would be a nice place to stay.
Work
Great place with friendly staff. Breakfast included was excellent made to order
Thank you
I was pleasantly surprised. Great place for my purposes and I'll stay there again.
Rooms are noisy, housekeeping could be stepped up. Bed was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good. Low cost that is in need of some upgrades. No air conditioning in a hot room in.
Cleanliness was very good everywhere. My room was recently remodeled, was very nice, and was larger than most hotels I have stayed in. Free breakfast was beyond great and the staff that served it were very friendly. Loved the Gym. Hot tub was clean and also very nice. I will make this my regular place to stay when visiting Medicine Hat.
There was no heat in the rooms, when the front desk was called they said to turn of the ac and it would warm up as the rooms are not heated, this makes NO sense as it is Alberta and it gets cold in the winter. The showers were warm, but not hot. it was a disappointing experience. will not book again.
This is an excellent place to stay. The room was clean with lots of room for luggage and belongings. The drain in the bathroom sink was slow but I mentioned to staff and they said maintenance would be notified. The carpet in the hotel is old and stained and needs to be changed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Disappointed
When arriving at the first extreme hot 26 degrees. We tried to adjust and open the little window. Phoned on hotel to the lobby no one answered. Called from my cell. The air conditioning unit had been broken for 3 days. This should have been stated upon check-in. They moved us to a room with a/c. Not the cleanest room but cooler
They had included a free breakfast with the room. It was eyed by the culinary staff of the students medicine hat college, and it was fantastic.
This is by far, one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel. My room was beyond run down. It was also not clean. Dirty pillow case loose on nightstand, used straw on head board, cup stains, blood on door, could I go on? To top it off the majority of the night we were awake due to yelling, swearing and banging next door. I felt unsafe. I called the front desk at 1:30am after being awake for an hour with the domestic situation. Nothing changed. I would give this property 0 stars if I could. I have pictures to collaborate all claims.
I would say this is a motel style not a hotel. Door to the outside from your suite. The room was clean, but there were light stains on the bedding. And the bed mattress was missing some springs or something, had a large crevice in the mattress. Room is definitely older as it is a bit banged up and can see pealing paint in many areas of the room and the furniture is pretty banged up as well. Not very well sound proof from outside or the neighbor next door. But the bed was soft and comfortable minus the crevice.
We stayed at the Clarion Pointe with a last minute booking. The staff was wonderful and it was easy to find. For the most part the room was fine. The security latch on the door was broken though and it was to an exterior exit so that was a bit concerning. There was some damage to the room, but it did have some modern updates. For one night the hotel was just fine.
No AC room was way to hot to sleep, bed was uncomfortable, room walls looked dirty, weird bugs in the shower
Staff members excellent
Property was not as clean as it should be. Absolutely NO hot water, at all, for other guests we talked to as well. Property run down. Conversely, the breakfast was excellent and students did a great job.
Front desk girl was wonderful.... the homeless vagrants made it feel unsafe. The black mold at the base of the heating/ ac unit and the broken fan motor almost no air flow. The screen was non exist so couldnt open the window. Found ants in our bed. The gap in the door to entrance from hallway, the light at night was glaring. Noise from other people staying, kids running and screaming. The towels were stained with what looked like feces
We didnt like that the room was not the cleanest- towels in the bathroom were stained, the lampshades had mystery stains on them, the carpet was dirty, and the tv wasnt hooked up properly when we got there. We didnt enjoy the location and map we got of the property never indicated our room was on an upper floor, so we drove around outaide looking for the room for quite some time until parking at the front of the building and walking in that way. The door and frame to the room let in lots of light from the hallway which I had to use towels to try and block out. You can hear everything in this hotel inside and out.
Our first room we checked into had been smoked in and smelled terrible. We were taken to another room. It was better. Some upgrades have been done in the hotel. There is no climate control in the rooms, AC was on and there was no turning it off. Staff brought us a blanket. It was clean but had cigarette burns in it. There was one outlet on the wall with the bed but it was not accessible. There was an alarm clock sitting on the bedstands, unplugged because it would not reach the plug either. There was one free outlet at the desk. Shower curtain smelled musty and gross. Needed to be washed or thrown out. Water for showers was just barely hot when turned up all the way. Would not stay here again.
Could not adjust the room temperature and ir was 25 degrees. There was no remote control for the TV and the breakfast was very limited. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Would not return due to extremely hot room and lack of help to fix it.
Breakfast is poor
Awesome free breakfast, choice between a full cooked breakfast or a continental. Great way to start your day after a very comfortable sleep. Beds were very comfortable. Recommend staying here
Staff treated us excellent. The checkin people, and restaurant staff really wanted to please us. Very much appreciated by us.
Very clean hotel with very nice staff. Pool area is well kept and hotel price gives full value for your dollar. We just had the very best complimentary breakfast ever and we travel a lot.
Enjoyed my stay , great staff, clean and updated
Last night if a week long visit ti Saskatchewan
Really great staff!!
Decent hotel to stay at. Suggest better breakfast service and cleaning service be done to help make this a 5 star experience. Everything else was good.
We loved that it accepted animals and was close to the site we were working on. The price was great and my men were happy.
It was okay
Our room shower was not functional due to improper installation. Doors had no door stoppers so holes in walls. Breakfast food saturated in oil. We won't be back.
I’d stay there again. Breakfast was great!
The staff was very helpful Older hotel but room was renovated and was clean Great pool area for kids reasonably priced
Upon arrival (10 minutes before check-in time), we were told that our room was not ready. There were several people in the waiting room also waiting for their rooms to be cleaned before they could be checked in. We decided to leave and grab something to eat. We returned 1 hour 45 minutes later to be told our room was still not ready. At this point we had neen driving for over 11 hours and just wanted to relax. Being more insistant, I said we need our room now and asked them what is going on? We left already once and returned nearly 2 hours later. We were told the reason why they were running late was due to a large party leaving that day. To me, that means they knew in advance that a large party would be leaving and they should have planned accordingly. They started calling their cleaners and within 5 minutes we had our room and for the most part it was OK. We found a frozen facecloth in the freezer, a Q-Tip just under the microwave and a few other smaller detail items. My daughter swam in the pool (which was pretty good and she had fun) but when she got out of the pool, her swimsuit was bleached due to whatever they put in the water and her skin was itching. The price for this hotel is very reasonable. We knew it wasn't a 5 star resort or anything, but as a minimum we expected on-time check in. I think it's a poorly managed place. It needs some love in the maintenance department and it needs some additional cleaning staff on days they know a large group is leaving.
Great price and kids had a blast in the pool . A/C didn’t work great . Pretty dated hotel that’s needs some Reno’s but was fine and would stay again
I would highly recommend staying here. The rooms are large and very clean, very comfortable with lots of bedding. The pool was very nice, but what stood out to me was the restaurant. The Cliff has very good food for an amazing price, and the complementary breakfast did not disappoint either.
Very nice hotel Best place we have stayed on our 11 night holiday.
Was a good one night stay.
Would stay here again
Nice hotel I didn't use the pool or the gym but they looked good.
The beds were great, the staff amazing. Pool a bit cold for a toddler but still fun
Would stay again!
Front desk staff super friendly. We stayed with a dog so got an older room with very dated carpet but it was very clean. Kids had an amazing time in the pool. Pool also needs an update but was great none the less. Breakfast was an amazing spread. Overall quite happy with our stay.
I didn’t like how I had to wait for the rooms to be cleaned I felt they would’ve been cleaned earlier and also the rooms look a little old but the service was nice
Our first room was on the 2nd floor and my daughter has mobility issues, so I asked for the elevator and found out there was none. So we changed rooms to a ground floor room that also had a door to the parking lot from the room. When we walked in, there was a giant grasshopper in the room. Fine, we escorted it it out. Then we checked the beds, there was yellow stains, which looked like mustard, on 3 of the pillow cases. There was small black clusters of something on the pillows and under the bedsheets. Urine marks on the blankets, yellow stains on the lamp shades... The rolly desk chair had uneven legs and nearly toppled over. After showing the lady at the front desk the photos of the disaster of a room, we asked to see the original room (we took extra care to assist my daughter). The room on the 2nd floor was MUCH cleaner, no stains, clean bedsheets and pilows. The pool area was fun for the kids, unfortunately the hot tub wasn't working. Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good. However, I would not take my chances here again.
Always stay at this hotel when we are in the city. Our kids love the pool/waterslide. Breakfast is good. Staff is nice and helpful. Dates hotel but clean so we have zero complaints!
rooms need to be renovated
For an older hotel it is a nice stay
Describe comfortable family
There have been many renovations made at the hotel however, I found that the room was old. We had a sink issue and the TV issue was on us due to our inexperience. The lobby that staff were phenomenal we thoroughly enjoyed the lounge and the food and the restaurant was excellent.
Very neat pool for kids, but water was murky. Could tell rooms had been renovated, but nails still stick out of the wall. Screws never mudded to have been covered up. Safe was great, we had sewer smell in our bathroom. Was horrible.
Hot tub was not working. Water slide is great!!
The pool was dirty. Carpets were not clean. The rooms and hallways were severely out dated and unclean. The tv didn’t work. The AC didn’t work.
The Clarion Point in Medicine Hat is a hidden gem! The staff were friendly and the service in Cliff’s restaurant for “free” breakfast was amazing. The room was clean and very comfortable. The price was also right and you were given a complimentary Breakfast with the room. Definitely would stay there again. Only thing that would make it better is an elevator to the 2nd floor.
The property has had renovations done to upgrade it, however, it shows its age in certain areas. The pool area is large. Kids loved the waterslide. The sheets appeared clean but had stains. The toilet was clean but it appeared as though the water had been sitting in it for days as there was a ring around it. The furniture in the unit was dated. Carpet had stains. Beds were comfy. Breakfast options were ok. But didn’t feel the cleanest. The area is not tidied regularly. For the price, the value was decent.
Great pool area. Very good attached restaurant. Good breakfast. Nice to find a place that 6 can sleep in one room.
We quite enjoy this hotel when we make trips to Medicine Hat with our family as the kids love the pool and waterslide. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are dated but clean. Staff at continental breakfast also very friendly. The only "detractor" it had for us this time around was that the thermostat in our room didn't work, so we had no Air Conditioning and it reached hot temperatures outside... but for one night, we survived just fine! We will be back!
Staff were great. Place was clean. Pool was nice but a little cold. Kids loved the waterslide :)
The aircon in our original room didn't work. They changed rooms for us, however the aircon was super loud. We were glad it worked though, as temperatures reached 40c that week. The weight room ac was not working. The hottub in the pool area was under maintenance. The hotel is rough around the edges. Friendly staff. Breakfast area was clean and spacious. The staff at the restaurant during breakfast were very nice and helpful. Kind people.

Room nice and clean. Got up early .to early for breakfast to be served .but a bagged breakfast was given to us. We never expected that.
