Dissapointing and tired
Whilst it was cheapish for london prices, the reasons were very clear on arrival, the room was like a tiny well used bedsit, very small, and the ensuite bathroom was filthy, the grouting in the bathroom was black wirh heavy use, the toilet area smelled of urine, and the bedroom area was in serious need of decirating the floor boards creaked badly, and overall, the whole building (or what we saw) was in need of serious refurbishment.
I stay every year in this hotel.Owners are very much wellcoming and helpful.Easy to find,to get to the Central London, good eateries around.
Friendly crew
Very basic, small hotel with couple of rooms. Breakfast was included, staff was friendly.
It should not be recommended for people to lodge
Excellent for the price
Staff friendly Outside area of hotel needs tidying for a better impression on arrival. Hotel needs a little bit of TLC
Close to any junction
I like the property location it was closed to my station where i can go to my friends or uncles house and it was a good location to catch train. I did not like the properly because first and foremost the reception guy was very rude and he was not helpfull, and the room was small the give me and wife a small room where we could not go to sleep for the next two day.we were hearing lot of banging and shouting from next-door when i could not go to sleep and i had to complain on expedia then the next day the reception give me a different room the second guy call Muhammed was very good and helpful.
Actually need to modernise Bathroom is very small
We went to property. But when we go there they have no rooms available. Then person who was in the reception call to some one and talk something in another language. One point he ask to cancel the booking. Then I was arguing with him. After he send me to near property to satay in the night. I paid for room including breakfast. Place we was stay in there is no breakfast. I have no option to claim my money. You can talk to property and ask about it.
good value for the price, would recommend
Basic but functional room, perfect if you are visiting a stadium or arena and just need somewhere to sleep. Not spotless but cleanliness was fine, its not a hotel chain so dont have those expectations but totally fine to sleep in and would recommend. handy nisa shop by the hotel and a pub across the road that did nice burgers and very near bow church station. area felt safe and no issues there, quite green and pleasant. front desk staff very friendly. the kitchen/dining area is pleasant and there was milk and tea making facilities provided in there and bread for toast and cereal and fruit which is a nice extra. our room was quiet and away from the road. good value compared to chain hotels nearby for a couple of nights and will use again if we are seeing anymore events at london arena!
Basic, Clean good value 4 ABBA nearby
Great location as went to ABBA Voyage only 15 min walk away. Basic, clean, friendly hosts. Bath towels on small side. Local station 3-4 min walk Bow Road. Easy to navigate around London. 20-30 min to Central London.
Everything at the hotel was unique
Good stay
We stayed four nights. Bed was very comfortable and noise levels not too bad considering it’s London. Very easy access and location perfect for jumping on the DLR tube. Staff were very friendly and even had kitchen to use if needed. Laundrette next door and a handy shop near by
A Fabulous Family like location
It was a brief one night stay on a business trip and it was easy to locate and affordable. The location was close to public transport and shops so perfect for me. The breakfast inclusive option was great. There was variety of food to choose from and was a fantastic thing. Room could do with a bed lamp and a wardrobe that allows use of the wall socket close to the bed.
Self service breakfast was nice - eggs, bread, jam to for you to use. On the other hand... No room service so we had the same towels flr 3 nights, the place was not clean at all, carpets curtains with stains. And the dust... But the people on reception were nice and helpful.
Really fantastic.
City Lodge was close to the subway system so getting around was easy. The bathroom had a lot of mold. I would not recommend staying at this location.
An ok stay
The stay was ok, for two nights. The room was alright but not clean. The chair was filthy and the lounge chair was broken. The bed was clean, and toilet was also clean. But I would not want to put stuff in the nightstand or closet.
A good basic hotel at a good price
Hotel was in easy walk of underground station and DLR. I stayed for a night before going to Excel, a short journey using the DLR. The room was functional and had an ensuite shower room. The shower was good and hot. The staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast supplied was a pleasant surprise, quite a choice of items, although self service, very good.
Property is dated and rooms are small, no reflection on the images of the rooms online.
Cheap and convenient for over night stays
Room very clean and staff were brilliant
NEEDS A PEP-UP...
The facility is rather spartan and needs upliftment. There was no signpost to indicate the hotel at the address. Located on the busy Bow road, the environs appear rather untidy with uncleared refuse close to the hotel's entrance. This location is a plus, being close to the Westfield Shopping Center , Stratford. Like the building, most of the facilities are equally aged, like the archaic door key system. The self styled ''self service breakfast'' is quite spartan with few offerings while the venue only accommodates a center table with only 4 seats. Sleep quality was rather poor as my room on the ground floor suffered from the noise of night time driving on Bow road. The cost of services offered are on the high side while the hotel urgently needs an improvement and uplift.
Noise from outside but overall it was a wonderful stay and staff very helpful with great customer support.
We loved the shared kitchen and made great use of it. The staff were very friendly. The bed was comfortable!! All in all well worth the money.
Clean and pleasant environment. Comfortable. View from roof terrace takes in several notable landmarks
Good
Needs updating badly
Basic but what we needed and the kitchen facilities were good, you can cook etc and a shop almost next door for anything else you need that isn't provided. Staff were friendly and explained everything very well. we were fortunate to go on a weekend and found free parking just up the road that was only permit mon to fri and the tube is just down the road so perfect for our weekend in London
Not a value for money
It was my worst hotel experience. The room was on the ground floor (114), it did not have a proper window (a window to another room - a porch on the street side), the curtains were stained with a colour. It definately is not worth c. 100 euros a night.
Front desk very friendly and accommodating. Facility needs major upgrades. But location is close to London Stadium so was perfect in that regard for my stay.
Very good value for money. Easy access to center via tube or DLR. The self-service breakfast at the kitchen is a great idea. I wish I could open the small window, it would greatly help releasing the summer heat.
Room was small, but reasonable for the price, however the common areas and room were extremely dirty. Black mold on the bathroom ceiling and grout, and walls and floors in very poor condition.
Friendly staff, clean room, food and amenities in the kitchen are excellent.
Staff was rude. Not served properly.
Cheap n cheerful
Good value
Grubby
Significantly over-priced given location. Pretty grubby
For somewhere to basically crash for the night, wasnt to bad. The place could use some updating as looking really tired. Pros: quiet location, easy walk from Bow Street station underground, great shower! Staff was pleasent engouh and helpful, quiet location. Cons: place needs to have some tlc, still wasnt sure why i had to hand over my details, creaky floor boards etc. Like i said if its somewhere just to sleep and leave your stuff for a night or two its adquate.
Filthy noisy. Wouldn’t stay again.
i loved my stay here. the staff is super friendly, the room was really cozy and the location is really convenient. overall, i really enjoyed this place.
Very nice hotel for the price
Despite how the outside may look, the interior has cozy and clean. Fantastic service, a really well stocked and maintained kitchen too.
Perfectly ok for a cheap hotel.scruffy but clean Friendly manager
Good for a 2.5 star hotel
Decent rooms for my short stay. Service was very friendly and accommodating. I felt very safe. Kitchen use was decent for breakfast.
Citylodge experience
The please us great also the staff
Recommend for overnight
Hotel a bit scruffy externally but the room was warm clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Good easy tube and bus links.
Stayed for a weekend with my daughter, and used it as a base to explore London from. A few minutes only to closest tube station made that possible. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable and perfect if the hotel is not the destination. Close to several supermarkets, Friendly staff and a nice self-service kitchen open for breakfast and dinner hours.
Room was dusty, no kettle, hotel situated in a very noisy part of London, so not much sleep for all. Man at desk was welcoming and pleasant. Tried to help when we needed it! Good shower and beds comfortable and clean!
Staff are wonderful and extremely accommodating. Very close to several bus and tube stops
Good place and good people. Close to Bow road station.
A pleasant stay
Stayed in CityLodge during the weekend, it's in zone 2 but it's excellent for the price we paid. Location : Few minutes from Bow Road station (District and Hammersmith line) Service : The staffs are warm and kind. - The staff was kind enough to let us to check-in earlier. - The staff even helped us to carry our luggage to our room (top floor, no lift) - self-service breakfast - breakfast was included but they provide cereal, fruits, milk, eggs, toasts etc WHOLE DAY ! Not just in the morning! Overall a pleasant stay!
Great stay in Bow E3
Wow, what a amazing experience. This is a great hotel in the east end of London with good public transportation all around. The buses and the tubes. The Roman Road market is a easy 10mins walk away and there is a Nisa local store next to the hotel. Both Tesco and ASDA stores aren't far. About a 20min ride up Bow road on the bus. The rooms in the hotel are nice and clean with private bathrooms and TVs. Plus, you have access to a full kitchen where they provide dishes, utensils and breakfast foods. And I must add that Hussain and his staff are great people and hosts. I loved it here, HIGHLY recommended!
The receptionist was rude and disrespectful, I do not recommend here to anyone here
Suitcase charged 10 pounds after check out
Well conected between London City Airport and city center each one 30 min away. I cannot acept that I had to pay 10 pounds per suitcase for leaving my luggage there during day of check out
Great for 3 Mills island
Very nice hotel in a good area if you are in that part of London. Very good price
Average at best
The price was low and it was a last minute stay so I wasn't expecting much to be honest. The place was very tired, could of done with a lick of paint but the room seemed clean enough.
My stay was amazing! It’s like being at home. The front desk and owners were supper pleasant, caring and very helpful. They really care about their costumers. There is breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you want to make your own meal you can buy everything in a store right next to it, literally 10 steps away. It’s is also closed to the train and bus station. Very convenient, I’ll recommend it to anybody!
The room wasn't big, but it was clean and comfortable. Hotel staffs are very friendly and welcoming. I would book a room with them again if I have to be around in the area.
Amazing customer service
The guy at the reception was amazing, friendly and very helpful. It was best customer service I ever received. Thank you Mr. DD
Very good, clean, friendly place with a personal feel.
Very basic hotel with no frills at all. That's more than made up by the fact that it's run by very friendly people. All in all a welcoming atmosphere and good experience.
Take care when booking
Hotel was overbooked; we stayed nearby (arranged by hotel) for same rate
Not for clean freaks
Very helpful and friendly staff. Not your typical hotel. You'll be shown to the kitchen when you can make yourself complementary tea and coffee together with biscuits but beware, this place is not at all clean! The rooms are basic and again not clean, some lovely stains on our sheets - bleeuuuugh! Breakfast you can have a range of things but again you've the grubby kitchen to deal with. Cheap and cheerful, it served a purpose for us but won't be returning again - sorry! It's a shame as the staff really were very nice.
Convenient and very helpful staff
Very friendly staff, good location to the meeting I had
Lovely stay
Great stay friendly staff clean comfortable room
We had lovely time!
Even tho hotel is small, it is perfect for what you pay for! More than that! We stayed 10 nights at this place, and really, we felt like home. Manager was more than nice, he was super friendly and helped so much with more than we could ever ask for! Rooms are small, but fine if you don't plan spending entire day in hotel room (which, when in London you should not!)! We could make our own breakfast with ingredients provided every morning, which was very nice! Eggs, spreads, cereal etc etc! Hotel is apx. 30min away from city center, but hey, you just hop out of hotel, walk 2 minutes to nearest Underground, hop on train and wait few stops - you are in city center just like that! I would recommend staying at this hotel for anyone who is on budget and I would return 100% on our next trip to London!
Shabby, dusty and snelly
Staff spoke very little English. Wanted a photo of my mum's credit card and photo-ID sent by text even though she booked and paid in full, and wasn't even with me (booking was in my name)!! Room was shabby and dusty; the bathroom smelled of stale sweat and looked like it had been cleaned with a damp cloth rather than using cleaning products. Locks on the door felt flimsy too.
Very Halpful staff
The staff are very friendly and very helpful, though surprised to be told to pay preferably in cash, in addition my morning shower was every morning during my stay interrupted every minuet or so with sudden shock of strong spray of freezing cold burst having to readjust to warm and when the sudden burst stops the water get too hot having to readjust again, sound like an issue with temperature control and cold water pump. other wise it was good location for commuting
Basic room, relatively clean. Helpful staff. Good value for money.
Disappointed
Room was small and very noisy due to the nearby traffic. Didn't have the breakfast that was provided due to the fact that they didn't serve breakfast until after 8 o'clock, has a business traveller I had to be at my place of work by 8 o'clock.
6 nights was only a place to sleep and refresh. Hotel staff were friendly and eager enough to help. Room was fairly small but very clean, did the job required.Ensuite bathroom also clean. Would definitely use again.Rates were reasonable too. Close to DLR and a tube station. Also a decent minicab service down the road which I would recommend
Ok for what you pay
If you try to pay with credit with debit or credit card in the hotel, they will charge you 4.5% of commission. So bring cash with you! If not, there is an ATM next to the hotel in a 24 hours grocery store (very convenient by the way). The hotel is a little far from city centre, but there is an underground station 9 minutes away. But getting there might be a little complicated since there are too many closed stations in London underground these days due to maintenance work (July 2015). The room was ok for what we paid. But there is too much noise from the street, so if you need a quiet room to rest this is certainly not for you. Also, there is no air conditioning, just a fan. Bathroom was very clean (this is a plus)! There is a shared kitchen but with limited schedule and they can lend you an iron if you need it but only during kitchen schedule. Overall, for a London hotel, the deal I got from hotels.com was good!
First of all, we booked at city lodge but was then told we are staying at their sister branch called city stay. Only the bathroom and bed was clean. Everything else was dirty. Stairs to room was very slippery. No access to anything to drink. Staff wasn't helpful at all and didn't even know how long we were staying for. Overall not great and was pleased to get home.
