Last night when we checked in, I specifically asked the front desk staff if there were bed bugs, as I had seen many negative reviews mentioning them. The staff assured me that there was no need to worry, saying that it was a summer issue and that they had cleaned thoroughly, so there were no more bed bugs. To my surprise, that night I was bitten by bed bugs all over my body, causing severe itching that was unbearable and left me unable to sleep. It’s already October, and the fact that there are still bed bugs is simply unbelievable! Moreover, we didn’t have a blanket, only a very thin sheet, and it was unexpectedly cold at night. The next day, after we checked out, we wanted to use the restroom, but the cleaning staff was quite impatient. In conclusion, we will never come back to this place. In the future, we definitely won’t compromise on accommodations just to save money and end up in a hotel like this. (The front desk staff was polite, but the cleaning staff had just finished cleaning and, after learning that we had checked out, said we couldn’t use the restroom. We asked to use it, and she reluctantly agreed, showing impatience.) Additionally, we had to pay an extra €2.5 to store our luggage until 3 p.m., which is understandable, although most hotels offer this service for free.

Good place for short stays or budget accommodation. Close to centre and bus services. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Facilities were good and cleaned daily. Staff were very helpful, the head cleaner is a bit abrupt but she just wants to get the cleaning done on time.

Amazing place with cozy garden, next to one of the popular tourist sights Castello Ursino. Beautiful and fantastic people.

We booked this private room for one night as was cheaper to stay closer to the airport, than to use an airport shuttle service from our original location. We weren’t expecting much due to the cheap nature of the space, but basic and clean accommodation should be minimum. The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable, we could not use the thick pillows. There was grime all over the floor, we actually wore shoes inside after I noticed my white socks becoming discoloured wearing inside. The window was broken and could not be closed properly so all the noise from outside at night came into our room. There were people slamming doors and talking for hours at night outside our window/in the hostel. The hostel is located in a dodgy looking area. Would be suitable for very young travellers who are not intending to sleep much…

Good and nice property. Very much enjoyed the stay.

It is a nice spot, especially traveling alone. Very inexpensive dormitory accommodations. Staff and guests were friendly and relaxed, and common areas are pleasant. The area around is excellent, near a cooperative bookstore and wine bar and the excellent museum at Castillo Ursino. Very congenial—not much privacy and no frills lodgings, but a good experience.

The receptionist ladies are very, very nice, but I only gave 3 stars in the staff category because this hostel has the worst cleaning person I have ever met out of over 100 hostels I have stayed in. One time she yelled and screamed at me, I would not feel bad if she just peacefully talked to me. Another time, while another lady guest and I were having breakfast in the kitchen, this cleaning lady complained: the stove needs to be cleaned, the toastor needs to be cleaned, then she repeated the same words while looking at the other lady guest, and then she repeated again while looking at me. Actually we didn't cook, we just warmed up some leftover food, the stove and toaster were in the same condition as when checked in (not very clean), the cleaning staff should have cleaned them, but she asked us to clean up. Before I met this cleaning lady, I told the receptionist lady that I would come back in 8 days before I fly away from Catania. Since I don't want to see this cleaning lady again, I didn't go back to this hostel. She really should learn some hospitality from the receptionist ladies.

Bad experience, won’t come back

Terrible hostel, we couldn’t even stand up in the room. Bathroom was very dirty (someone shaved the beard and left the dirty behind).

Place is ok, stuff od cery nice! Matrace can kill you during one night. Its like you sleep in nest. Its impossible 😭 But the worst the loud. No privacy at all! Well the good points first: I see they do make regular efforts to keep the place clean there are cool art installations on all the walls the location is very central The downsides: (buckle in) it’s extremely claustrophobic, it’s hard to even navigate between the bunks without sticking your knee in your neighbour’s face. I’m not all that big but I couldn’t sit in the bottom bunk without hitting my head, & there wasn’t space for everyone’s things to go. The kitchen/ small common room area hours are pretty limiting. And one whole day staff were overhauling the space, with stuff absolutely everywhere and were painting the chairs- so the space couldn’t be used even in opening hours to grab a quick bite. *Some of my food was stolen The street sounds of bars and traffic are SUPER loud at night WORST of all: One of the guests in our room had a medical emergency in the middle of the night while he was sleeping. Luckily others noticed and together managed to call an ambulance and get him medical attention….so it was very fortunate everyone collectively had the skills, maturity, and language abilities to deal with the situation. But what completely shocked me is that there is NO NIGHT TIME STAFF- (not even an on-call emergency phone number listed anywhere) to get ahold of any staff in an extreme situation like this!!!! (And I was looking everywhere). We just dealt with the situation ourselves and tried to go back to sleep after the paramedics left. Incredible lack of care.

First of all, the number to the property that is given in the app doesn’t work. The after we came to the hostel we were told that despite the fact that they accepted our reservation and on Expedia wrote that the room is suitable for 4 people, they don’t have place for us. They send us to the other hostel, which was far away from city center, the room had such a low ceiling that we all had to walk around it bending down.

Don’t deserve any stars

It is the worst hostel I’ve ever been to. Rooms don’t look like on photo from ad. My room was on first floor, totally disaster. I couldn’t stand straight because of the sloping ceiling, small and dirty. I could hear everything that was going on in the corridor and other rooms (even someone snoring). Bathroom shared, low standard and again not clean. Check in is only till midnight and because my flight was delayed I had to pay for a late check in 10€. The receptionist ask for pay, quickly showed me a room, and left. Didn’t even informed where bathroom was. After one night, or actually few hours I change hotel for Efesto B&B and I was glad I did it. If you’re planning to stay there ask for a room on ground floor, it might be better.

Natalia was absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful. Nice little courtyard. Recommended taxi to airport arrived early and was great! Kitchen locked so we were not able to grab our food when we departed on our early flight so we hope someone is able to enjoy it. Our tiolet seat was broken but just a simple fix. I would recommend as it is a neat hostel with all the amazing painting everywhere.

The property was neat and well maintained by the employees each day. The only thing that was somewhat dirty was my bear feet in the publicly shared kitchen after stepping through.

Hotel from Hell!!

Nightmare hotel! No working ac at all just blows got air in the room around. I spent the night sleeping in the small shower so I could turn on child water every 15min. Extremely noisy street like a cars engine is revving inches from your ear. Late check in and manager leaves at night. After he left so many people came in to the room next to mine. Loud in the common area followed by crying babies all night long. Not one ounce of rest here.

Outstanding value! We had a private bathroom and our room accommodated three adults very nicely. The staff were wonderful. Excellent restaurant located adjacent to the hostel and many great dining places within a 5 to 10 minute walk.

I worked in tourism and hospitality industry. I'm a graduate of travel & tourism management. I stayed 6 days at this place. The location and amenities of property is price performing in comparison to others (€17 for a night in 12 bedded room) since, Catania hardly offers any better options. The afternoon and evening staff were pretty good. The housekeeping lady in the morning was terrible. She was so annoying. Every morning i went to ask for a coffee; she's asking money from me like i'm about to run away without paying. Maybe, it's because i'm a foreigner (from Nepal). She ruined my every morning throughout my stay.

Everything was OK. What I seen in the pictures I had overthrew. Air conditioning, clean room, terasa, close by hystoric centre, friendly staff, so we had no problems.

very nice stay near city centre

modern and clean hostel with nice kitchen/living room area (with fridge) and internal patio. good service (cleaned every day). room tiny but good standard. street window and typical for Italy- early morning noise (rubish collection). supermarket around the corner and lovely castle next door with very nice restaurants and amazingly cheap bar (small beer 1€)

Bad experience

Personal word does not hold. Appointed airport transfers are not. A few hours we had to wait outside. We agreed about pick up on airport and confirmet a few hours before arrival via SMS. After arrival to hotel the stall told "we dont have a reservation". Total internal discommunication.

Basic but clean and good location

We had a nice stay at the hotel which is located in the heart of Catania. The only thing we didn't like is the fact that the room was super small - a tall person couldnt stay in upright position there.. shame! The owner didn't even have maps of Catania (finally he gave us an old one saying we should give it back!) The internet on the 1st floor is slow, I am not a person who needs it but it could be a problem.

Did not look like the photos

So I was escorted to this horrible room, like a attic, dirty, dusty, dark and smelled like hell. Yet the manager let the friends of his stayed in some large, clean and much beautiful rooms! It was unbelievable/unbearable. I do not recommend this one in spite of the fact that it is extremely cheap.

Bon j'ai pas aimé ! Chambre très petite, sous le toit, à peine 1m80. Mais le pire, des puces dans le lit Deux nuits horribles et je suis parti. La cuisine fermée dès 10h30.

O hotel esta bem localizado. Meu quarto e banheiro estavam limpos, inclusive os lençóis e fronhas. A colcha que cobre a cama yinha cabelos.O tampo da privada estava quebrado e o colchão era terrivelmente desconfortável.De qualquer forma, a atendente nos prestou todas informações solicitadas.

Una delle esperienze peggiori che abbia mai vissuto, siamo arrivate in struttura e ci ha accolto una ragazza che si dimostrava come se fosse nuova ma a quanto pare è una strategia perché il peggio doveva arrivare. Ci ha mostrato la camera e già aprendo la porta usciva un odore sgradevole, un misto di puzza e muffa. Gli abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni ma sembrava ignara, come se fosse per loro il primo episodio, molto stranita. Ma a quanto pare proprio qussta ragione ha spinto chi era arrivato prima di noi a farsi cambiare stanza. Io avevo prenotato in una stanza con un tetto normale e con due letti singoli e mi è stata data una mansarda dove ho sbattuto mille volte la testa e un letto matrimoniale. Il condizionatore non è mai stato pulito ed è proprio quest’ultimo ha rilasciare quel puzzo assurdo nella stanza. Ci ha fatto accomodare nell’ ingresso in attesa che quel odore andasse via perché secondo lei si trattava sicuramente di stanza non lasciata asciugare dopo averla lavata. Mentre noi eravamo in attesa ovviamente molto delusi del servizio si è recata in camera a spruzzare il profumo da uomo forte tentando di ingannarci che l’odore era spartito. La mia amica ha iniziato a vomitare soffocata dal odore, abbiamo lasciato tutto aperto per diverse ore e abbiamo lasciato la camera affinché cambiasse aria. - struttura rumorosa - la gente che urla in tutte le ore della notte -igiene zero ( piena di cimici da letto) orribile Ho dovuto prendere L’ antistaminico

Je me suis fait piquer par pleins de punaise de lits et dans ce hostel c’est un problème répétitif. Le responsable m’a proposé de revenir a mon lit infecté par des punaises et donc j’ai passé une nuit blanche dehors.

Séjour horrible

Photos sur Booking non conforme avec la réalité de la chambre. Ça devrait être interdit de louer ce genre de chambre. La propreté des toilettes et salle de bain était médiocre. Poils, traces sombres, toilettes bouchées... Rien n'allait.

Huone siisti (keskiverto), erittäin huono parisänky, patja todella huono. Jääkaappi löytyy vain yhteisistä tiloista, jotka kaikkien käytössä, se oli todella täynnä, likainen, homeisia ruokia. Huoneissa pitäisi olla omat jääkaapit, ainakin pariskuntahuoneissa. Nuoriso soitti musiikkia ja juhli täysillä vielä keskiyön jälkeenkin, eikä henkilökunta puuttunut asiaan. Det var et gammelt beskidt rum. Og der er så meget larm og støj at det var umuligt at sove om natten. Der var aktive væglus i vores seng, når vi rejste os fra den. Beliggenheden er rigtig god i forhold til centrum men det er ikke et sted vi kan anbefale.

Nous avons passé une nuit horrible. La chambre était au Rez de chaussé autant vous dire que l’on aurait dormi dehors cela aurait été la même chose tellement le bruit était présent. Il n y a aucun double vitrage. Nous avons vu un cafard dans la salle de bain. Le lit supplémentaire n’avait pas de matelas mais un simple sur matelas. De plus on nous a facturé 10€ de plus car soit disant nous sommes arrives tard (22h30).

Visto il prezzo irrisorio, (22 euro a notte) uno non si aspetta niente di che, giusto un letto per dormire o perlomeno riposare, in una stanza con altri 11 letti attaccati gli uni agli altri...ma se poi ti chiedono le 2 euro per l asciugamani, le 2 euro per la tassa di soggiorno, che altri B&B includono direttamente nel prezzo, e le 2 euro per il deposito bagagli...e a momenti pure per l aria che respiri...allora arriviamo allo stesso prezzo di un altro che magari ti fa pagare di più ma include questi ed altri servizi nel prezzo! A metà tra presa in giro e concorrenza sleale! Per il resto il posto è carino e la zona comoda come posizione! Ma altra nota dolente, la pulizia e la manutenzione degli spazi lasciano molto a desiderare, bagni piccoli e sporchi, scarichi otturati ante degli armadi rotte! Insomma, ripeto, va bene per dormire o riposare le membra dopo una giornata in giro, ma niente di più!

Comoda, in centro

Soggiorno da incubo. Siamo arrivati in struttura e al primo utilizzo del WC usciva giusto un filo di acqua e neanche calda. La proprietaria inizialmente asseriva fosse un problema di stanza e che aveva già allertato idraulico e poi sotto lamentele del sottoscritto ha provato a cambiare stanza e, facendo delle prove, il problema si è rivelato essere di tutta la struttura. Non è concepibile che una struttura del genere sia priva di autoclave e riserva idrica. Altra problematica è la pretesa del pagamento in contanti e non con POS.

Es wurde uns auf der Expedia Seite ein falsches Zimmer angezeigt! Wir erhielten für den selben Preis ein schlechteres Zimmer als abgebildet. Wir sollten laut der Rezeption mit Expedia Kontakt aufnehmen

CATANIA, TOTAL ZENTRAL, CASTELLO URSINO

Diese Unterkunft ist so liebevoll. Ich habe mich rundum sehr wohl gefühlt und habe super geschlafen. Mitten im Zentrum, wo überall etwas los ist, hatte ich ein sehr gut gelegenes Zimmer. Bei grosser Hitze immer noch angenehm kühl, ohne die Klimanlage einschalten zu müssen. Das Personal ultrafreundlich und entspannt. Ich werde wiederkommen.

Camera minuscola, soffitto inclinato, bisogna pure fare attenzione a non sbattere la testa, non ci andrò mai più!

La nostra esperienza è stata positiva, però essendo una mansarda avrei aggiunto una cassettiera nell'angolo cieco e una tendina per evitare la luce di notte.

Ottima posizione in una zona ricca di ristoranti e con una bella vista sul castello.

Rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo

Zimmer unsauber mit Staub. Moskito vorhanden. Zimmergrösse Max 5 Quadratmeter ohne Fenster. Zimmer wie ein Dachgeschoss. Kaum stehen können. Kein Platz um Kleidung zu hängen kann alles nur bei Boden liegen. Insgesamt schrecklich dafür noch sehr hohes Steuer.

For the price it is ok for 1 night. Super tiny room which had a very odd odor which we couldn't get rid off so we had to keep the window open all night, which resulted in very limited amount of sleep due to the noise outside.

Petit hôtel bien positionné à deux pas du centre historique. Chambre petite sans chichi. Bon séjour dans l’ensemble après si vous êtes sensible au bruit je ne recommande pas, les murs, les portes et les fenêtres laissent passer tous les bruits, au point d’avoir l’impression que même une fois fermés, vous êtes en présence de tout le monde dans l’établissement. Niveau hygiène c’est très moyen dans la salle de bain, il ne faut vraiment pas être regardant. Au vu de l’emplacement de l’hôtel et des petits prix (comparativement aux autres hôtels dans le coin), si vous ne cherchez qu’un lieu pour dormir cela vous suffira amplement et vous aurez un peu plus d’argent pour d’autres activités sur place. Si vous recherchez un standing plus élevé, passez votre chemin.

Siisti ja mukava paikka, ihana sisustus. Riittoisat oleskelu ja keittiö tilat. Palvelu hieman vaihteli. Vapaaehtoiset nuoret olivat tosi mukavia mutta vanhemmat omistaja oletetut hieman tynkeitä välillä.
