Good location

The hotel itself was clean. Didn't see the issues other reviewers complained about. We both slept well, very quiet in the room and the bedroom was very spacious for the price spent. Here's the negatives: - The block getting to the hotel felt unsafe and we traveled during the eveninv. Very dark area, lot of grafiti on the walls in the buildings, few Thai massage places nearby that almost made it feel like a 3rd world country, - Only 1 elevator working the whole time. Then the available elevator broke down in day 2, causing us to take the stairs to our 6th floor hotel room - No 24/7 reception desk. Not sure how people would had dealt with the situation if they try to check in past midnight - No microwave to reheat your food. No coffee machine as well. -

Disappointing!

I would not stay here again. There’s 2 ‘sister’ hotels. You sleep at the city hotel, but have to go outside to access the other hotel for breakfast. The man at check-in seemed a bit disorganized. My room was dirty. Bedding had stains as did the bedroom and bathroom walls. I cleaned some of the dirt off the bathroom walls and countertops.Bed was so hard, it was difficult for me to sleep. The rooms are not soundproof. In the morning, housekeeping let herself in before 8 AM without knocking or announcing herself. I put a do not disturb sign on the door so it wouldn’t happen the next morning. Sign was ignored, someone came into the room while I was gone and didn’t do the best job of cleaning. Even a Hotel employee had negative comments about the Hotel. First two floors of the hotel are under renovation. There’s dust and crap all over the stairwells. Second morning of my stay the workers noise started before 8 AM. Didn’t care for the street hotel was on. If walked a block in either direction, more comfortable.

We really enjoyed our three night stay. Clean, quiet, excellent large room, helpful staff. All this while currently undergoing a major renovation. Eight minute walk to Nyugati Pu train station and all the Pest must sees were also walkable.

Budapest trip

We were moved from City hotel to next door the DORMERO! Which was 4 star

Downtown location with a budget friendly price. All the basics are there nothing too fancy. Overall a good place to stay.

Nice, good and safe

The property is nestled in a quiet part of town, in amongst residential blocks, and by 11pm was very quiet. There is an odd arrangement for late Checkin where the night staff at the adjacent property, which is owned by the same people, do that part...and their system booked me into a room that had not been cleaned yet or may have even been occupied with the owner out. This was quickly resolved though, I've just personally never experienced that. The rooms are nothing special. Basic amenities, small rooms with small but clean bathrooms and comfortable enough beds. The interior is meant for lots of traffic and is dated but functional and clean. If you need an inexpensive safe place to stay the night or two, this is a place. If you are looking for something for a multi day stay and a place to unwind between your work or tourist activities, I would suggest something different.

Decent hotel and walking distance to a lot of places. Friendly and helpful staff.

Reasonable price, conveniently located in the center of town. Relatively simple but clean accommodations. If you need to crash for a night or two and go abiut your vscation or business during the day, and then come back to sleep this is a perfect place that wont break the bank. Close to all main attraxtion and the Danube cruises. Staff were nice. They did give me initially an unmade room! The mistske was quickly corrected. Then the new key did nkt work. I got two instead, also on the spot. I was pressed for time and these delays werw annoying but they were dealt with properly by the staff. Their email communication is a bit lacking on terms of clarity but nothing to cry about. The hotel is on a narrow street and during my two days there the sodewalks were additionally littered by trash and old furniture. Maybe that was some old stuff give away day, I don't know but they had several piles on our street. Also the air control in the room had its dial markings erased so you could not tell if you're turning the temperature up or down. The conclusion is: Definitely a recommended place to stay in the heart of Budapest for a good price and to sleep on comfy beds in a quiet and clean room.

Really good location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room.

The room was very nice and clean. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The area seems safe, but is older with narrow streets and sidewalks. The only problem I encountered was that the elevators only have a capacity of 5 people, and one of the two was broken ( they appeared to be working on it, though). In the morning, I took the steps down because every time the elevator reached me on the third floor, it was filled to capacity. Was not a problem other times of the day, though.

This was a no thrills kind of place, fine for sleeping in but otherwise not overly homey. Beds were pretty comfortable, shower could have been better. Only one lift of the two was working during our stay. For the price, it was fine.

The room was ok. The shelves in the room were a little dusty. The shower leaked all over the floor. The shower was great, lots of pressure and nice and hot. Overall the standard of the room was good for the price paid. I would stay again.

Nice hotel in Budapest downtown. The late checkout is a life saver!

Rooms were small with no services for coffee or tea. No fan in bathroom. Two thin pillows. No breakfast offered except at adjacent hotel for 19 Euros. Lighting in room was very poor. No tissues in room. Budget hotel.

Breakfast was ok. Wifi doesnt work keeps disconnecting requires an upgrade. Room service should be done daily and items replenished not upon request. Only 1 elevator works the other elevator doesnt work not sure how long its been not working. Poeple have to wait for a while and only 5 poeple can go at a time. The room is plain no kettle to boil water to make a cup of coffee or tea in the evening which is normally available at all hotels.

Great location with a good price . The interior slightly dated but acceptable.

The staff we met were helpful, however, the property is in a very poor condition. The room had obvious signs of damage, including water stains from previous leaks and chunks taken out of the wall. Handprints on the wall above the bed and mould in the bathroom. The air conditioning didn’t really work and the pillows were more decorative than functional. It was quiet, perhaps because we were on the top floor. Only one working lift.

Staff knew no wifi in various location of building

Horrible!! 3 nights WIFI didn’t work..reluctantly moved to another room last day. Staff knew my room Wi-Fi doesn’t work yet checked me in. Couldn’t book online tours nor check in for flight. Forced to go to lobby for Wi-Fi at 4am. Gabriela was sleeping in office. Complained no Wi-Fi and paid for KING 3 nts but gave me 2 twin beds. Had to attaching beds together was uncomfortable. She didn’t resolved issue. Asked manager Axel to call and compensate product not delivered but no call back. Very rude!!! Need partial refund!!

Close to the main sites such as the parliament with convenient public transportation.

Great stay

Stayed here for 6 nights, including over the F1 weekend. Good location - close to many shops and restaurants, and a 5-minute walk to 3 different metro stations. Found a couple of really nice 'brunch' restaurants on the same road as the hotel - which worked out cheaper than the hotel's buffet breakfast (which we didn't try any day in the end). Room was fine - clean and had all the essentials. Comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Would definitely stay here again.

I liked the price and location.I didn't like the parking space so inconvenient and very limited but we were lucky to find just enough room to park our rental car in the narrow street across the hotel.

The hotels location was ideal. On a quiet street but just a minutes walk from shops, restaurants, and bars/pubs. Its also a 10/15 minute wakk to the river and Basilica. The staff were so polite and helpful.

Closer to all attractions

Location was great for access to everything, but the noise level from the street was horrible. This included loud car stereos, loud car engines and drunks screaming at all hours of the night. Maybe a room not facing the street would have been better.

Good value hotel

Nice , good value hotel, 5 - 10 mins walk from the centre. Only one small pillow per bed though, could do with 2 but considering the cost it was great value overall. Would stay again.

Great location. However, it would be helpful to have ironing facilities on the property rather than running to the hotel next door (Dormero) for an iron. The same applies for hot/cold/alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages which again are only available next door. In the past (Star Inn) this was not an issue, there was always someone to serve these.

Hotel was better than we could have hoped for

Excellent hotel in a good location for sightseing.

Our room was ready early, the location and price were fantastic. The room and bathroom were well appointed and very clean (again, great price). The hallways leading to the room are dingy and white, but don’t let that deter you. Every other part of the hotel is great. Lastly, the reception and staff were kind and helpful!

Great Location, Reasonable Price

Great location and very reasonable price. We had a large suite (didn’t expect that), so very roomy. Don’t think AC worked, but two large windows that could be opened so not a problem. Our room was very quiet, always a bonus. You need to request fresh towels, toilet paper, etc. every day, but was always taken care of. Would definitely stay here again. There was an Intrepid group staying there same time as us, possibly a Comfort stule?

Internet didn’t work in my room. Rooms were quite warm during some of the fall weather and I couldn’t get AC to work (perhaps turned off after summer).

Good value for money

Good location, near the blue metro line. Good value for money, as it was about yhe cheapest in the area. Rooms are basic but fine and came with a samee fridge. I visited in october and air con was not on and rooms were very hot, even with the window open. Breakfast was pretty average as well, so i wouldnt pay extra to include it

Great stay

The hotel was adequate but a bit bare bones. Lights in our room needed fixing. One lift was out of order. The staff did their best.

Economy style with basic facility. Location is ok. You can walk to scenic spots or take metro or bus easily.

Clean and easy walking around

The bed had bed bugs. Absolutely disgusting. Wasnt sure why my body had red bite marks allover until the last night i woke up and seen little bugs crawling on the bed matress. Keep away from this hotel.

Property is in a convenient, walkable location. The staff are helpful & accommodating. Our room was not very clean, aside from the bed linens & the AC was not very functional.

A pretty standard hotel - everything work and the staff were great but wasn’t super clean. Lots of cobwebs on the room ceilings and long black hairs on various parts of the sink. Other than that, a very nice stay with none of our 10 person group having issues or being disturbed. Would use again in future.

It was close to everything

Clean, quiet and modern center hotel, walkable to most sights and restaurants. Front desk personnel are personable, polite and helpful to guests. I enjoy my stay, will definitely stay here again whenever I return to Budapest. Thanks for the wonderful experience .

It's a mid range hotel. Average in terms of price/condition. But come on, no second towel or slippers or even an electric kettle? Just some basic necessities for a 80 euro room is not much to ask.

Disappointing stay in a well located hotel

To start with positives: hotel is well located with easy access to the sights and were it not for the negatives, it would be a decent place to stay: The negatives: 1 - one of the two lifts was out of order throughout my stay. This meant either a v long wait for a lift or using the stairs (which aren't signed and I found by lucky accident). 2 - insufficient front desk staff - either no-one there and an instruction to go next door or a huge queue - impossible to get minor niggles resolved quickly and easily. 3 - I deliberately booked a room with a king size bed and was given two singles. I wasn't informed of this before being given the key. On discovering the room was not what I booked and not satisfactory, I waited ages for a lift to go downstairs to reception... Only to find a queue of about 10 people. I decided not to waste my time and to tolerate the room. I shouldn't have had to do this. 4 - the hotel is hot. Uncomfortably, stiflingly hot. This is adjustable in the room, but the best I managed was to get the temperature down to sweltering but tolerable. I did not sleep well as a result. 5 - tolerating anti-social behaviour from guests. On both nights of my stay, I was kept awake by very noisy guests slamming doors and shouting in the corridor at 2am, 4am, 6am... Absolutely nothing was done about it. On one occasion I went down to reception to raise the matter and was just told "people are unbelievable". Yes, they are... But how about intervening so guests can sleep?

The hotel was decent and in a great spot, as it was easy to walk round and also take public transportation. The hotel could work on the cleanliness more and updated furnishings. Other than that, it was a good pick.

Bad cleaning

Terrible cleaning. Big spots on the linens, yellowish covers… my room was with twin beds I didn’t ask for - somehow it shown like my preference but I would never ask for it when I travel alone. Next door Dormero Hotel is much much better even it is same group

bad stuff

the location we good the price was great but the service was really bad first I reach at 11 at night and I was so tired and I booked for 4 nights on the check in they insist to collect the full payment to give me the key but the problem is they need HUF which I don't have and my card was not working I tried a lot to convince them to take Euro or Dollar payment or even as guarantee till the morning but they refused and when I told them I will but this in the review they said no problem its the manager orders which is worst. second the internet was terrible I kept my 4G working all the time.

This property is very well located in the center of Budapest, walking distance from a few of the main landmarks and restaursnts that offer delicious local food! The room was also spacious enough. The only downside is how it can become a bit noisy if your room is facing the main street, but I suppose that's what happens when you decide to stay in the center. I would choose location and that hotel has it.
