We love the citizenM hotels and stay at every one we can when we are doing our couple trips! Great environment great lobby and cleaning staff door man! All of it amazing rooms clean rooms love it!

Early check in

Another Fantastic Stay at citizenM San Francisco Union Square! This was our family’s second time staying at citizenM San Francisco Union Square, and it was just as amazing as the first! From the moment we arrived, the staff was absolutely spectacular—starting with the friendly and attentive security at the entrance to the seamless check-in experience at the front desk. Everyone made us feel welcome and taken care of. Our room was clean, modern, and super comfortable, just as we remembered. The breakfast was tasty and fresh, the perfect way to start our busy days exploring the city. One of the best things about this hotel is its convenient location—it made getting to all of the activities we came in town for incredibly easy. Overall, citizenM continues to impress us with their hospitality, cleanliness, and unbeatable location. We’ll definitely be back for another stay on our next trip to San Francisco!

Very nice if you're into small rooms

If you're ok with small rooms, then you will love this hotel. It was clean, convenient to everything and above all, very quiet. I however didn't like it. The room was too small and that's my fault, I didn't read about the hotel, I only looked at ratings.

Great stay! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small yet cozy and beds are comfortable. Modern set up with cool art…great location too! Can’t wait to visit again.

Young modern auto-checkin tiny room hotel. The rooms although small, are comfortable - very much for one person and quite for two people. The comfortable large bed is cornered flush at end of room which turns out to be very practical.

I’d stay here every time I’m in town but cannot because the bed is hard as a rock and the pillows are massive. How can anybody sleep? I’m leaving with a messed up neck and back. Pillows were a good 2 ft thick. Had to call night 2 close to midnight begging for a smaller softer one.

Amazing Stay

Everything was wonderful but the service of the staff stands out. They are always hospitable and eager to help. I’ll see you guys again soon.

1st ADA room. Toilet tissue holder falling wall, toilet seat broken or loose, sliding glass door to bathroom would not stay closed. When taking shower, entire bathroom floor was wet. Notified front counter before leaving for a few hours. When we came back, nothing was fixed. Moved to another ADA room. Better, bathroom had about an inch of water around toilet after 2 showers. Very poor drainage design

The bed was horribly uncomfortable. Rock hard.

Inexpensive and nice size for 1-2 travelers. Just enough room with cool amenities. Nice bar and lounge areas. Kudos to Fernie for making us feel welcome and providing recommendations nearby. I will definitely be back to stay again.

Stayed at this property as a single business traveler and had a very good experience with check-in, very well designed and appointed art-boutique hotel, rooftop access overlooking the city, modernly designed rooms, easily walk to BART train station as well as other areas. Would stay again.

A great option for a business trip! The amenities were excellent, and the space was clean and well-maintained. While the room was a bit tight (typical for the city), it was perfect for a solo traveler. The surrounding area felt slightly sketchy, but the hotel had good security in place, which provided peace of mind. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay!

We loved staying at the citizenM. We are here on vacation but had to work for a few hours every morning and the Wi-Fi in the lobby was reliable and fast. Breakfast was also awesome! Better than the breakfast we had when we went to a restaurant. All the staff were welcoming, so helpful, and did a great job at making us smile. Rooms are perfect, are on the smaller side but have black out blinds, great lighting, and lots of plugs for charging. We hope to return!

Gem of a Bourique Hotel Brand

We did not know about this brand. But this was such a gem of a boutique hotel—our room was small but AWESOME in every way; from bed to shower to connectivity—that we became members and will stay here again (in April) and in any other city we can find one!

Great place to stay for 1. For 2 is abit squeezy. Location is excellent. Cable car station in powell is super near.

Great stay at the citizenM! A darling little jewel box steps away from shops and restaurants and easy walk to Moscone conference center and other conference hotels. Staff was especially friendly and helpful -- kudos! The comfortably appointed lounge space is a nice alternative to the room -- which, though small, is thoughtfully designed. The one thing that I would draw to the management's attention: the bath towels. The word that comes to mind is "crispy" -- they were rather thin and rough (particularly by comparison with very comfy and soft bed linens). I might not even have mentioned it except that there's a large mirror in the lobby area that promises fluffy towels! I'll be back, though.

Good value option in San Francisco

The room itself is extremely small with very little room to place luggage, but suited our needs for a short stop in San Francisco. The location is reasonable and it was one of the better value hotels in a very expensive city.

Wonderful Stay! Rating: 5/5 We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our room was unique and stylish, adding to the hotel's charm. The location, although initially a concern (with what we heard about the homelessness), proved to be perfectly fine. We felt safe and aware of our surroundings at all times. Plus, being within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and great food spots was a definite bonus! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended!

This was our first time in SF and staying at a Citizen, we loved both. CitizenM has a supper warm welcoming feeling. customer service is amazing from door mas to bartenders to cleaning staff. will definitely stay here again. Location was a huge plus!

I had an amazing time here. Me and my girlfriend stay for four nights. Check in was extremely quick and super easy. They have free wifi, a cool vibe in the lobby, and nice workers. The room was a little tiny perfect but perfect for a couples getaway. You are able to pick the view you’d like, Black out curtains not an ounce of light comes through, and complete silence didn’t hear a single thing. Only flaw, I spent $240 for parking in the OFarrel lot. From my knowledge they don’t have there own parking.

Comfortable space in a convenient area

To enter hotel entrance is hidden. Looks more like an apartment entrance that is accessible by the security guard or hotel keycard. Very clean and nicely furnished. It has a really nice aroma too. From the reception to the room, simplistic but chic decor. The ipad in the room lets you control everything including the night and day shades which was a nice to have. Will definitely come back on our next trip to SF.

Location

The hotel is at a very convenient location, near Union square and from many others point of interest. The room is super clean and very modern, everything is controlled with an iPad. The bed is very comfortable. My room had several issues with the key but the staff was super nice and helpful. I can really recommend this hotel, it’s amazing for the price and the staff is really awesome! I will definitely come back!

Really liked the staff, specially the red headed woman (sorry forgot her name) who helped us on check-in, she was very helpfull.

The hotel room was very small, the hotel site stated room with a city view, no such room. I had to switch hotels to be more comfortable.

Hip hotel filled with pop art!

Great location, hip interior, pop-art filled spacious lounge area, and smart design. We stayed in Times Square in NYC last year, and we did staycation in San Francisco. We love this hotel. It lifts our spirit!

First off, the customer service is top notch. Everyone is so kind and helpful. The rooms are spotless and creatively designed. 24 hour security keeps us safe. And the area surrounding the hotel has so many shops and restaurants and everything. It was a pleasure to stay here and look forward to returning.

Small rooms

Perfect

It is not for everyone. It is just Perfect for me. I travel one week per month; I have stayed in over 100 hotels, and CitizenM is just what I need: a clean, comfortable, modern, very small hotel room. I stayed at a CitizenM in Schiphol, in The Netherlands, and I will never forget it. They are what a hotel should be. Beware: the room is the width of the bed. And, you Control everything from an iPad.

When we arrived the gentleman who helped checked us in was perfect. Courteous, patient just amazing. Our flights were canceled this was a last minute stay he have us a great welcome offered us water. It felt great and like I was being well taken care of.

Overall I’d say it’s a good spot to stay in. The room was very clean, the staffs were accommodating and helpful however The neighborhood isn’t the most ideal because the homeless problem.

Space age capsule, modern, great breakfast

Space age capsule room. Very petite and modern. Everything seemed new, clean and snug. Probably would not be enjoyed by big people who like a lot of elbow room. It felt like having a room on a spaceship. Great cafe downstairs with great full breakfast bar buffet.

A fantastic option for what I needed and easy to get the Powell st tram or BART. Lots of shopping nearby too, just need to be careful of some nearby areas with lots of homeless/drugs at night especiallly. Hotel itself though is fantastic and cosy with lovely staff!

Small rooms but very clean and the location was right where I wanted to be…shopping, dining options, Union Square. The staff was great…very helpful and it was a very peaceful night…very quiet.♥️

Citizen M hotels, in general, are clean, comfortable and have all amenities one can possibly need. I loke their rooms and comfy beds. I have not yet stayed in CM Hotel that was dirty or the staff was not friendly and helpful. I would highly reccomend it.

It is a boutique hotel. The decor was very modern and tasteful, the room and overall hotel layout was efficient, so even though the rooms are small it does not feel cramped. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

I enjoyed a two night stay in a king bed room. I like the connectedness via the iPad for blinds and ambiance. The bathroom was clean and nice. The rooms cozy and well designed considering the limited square footage. I would recommend.
