Jerusalem was quite different this year from previous years. I was at several hostels, it was a rule rather than the exception that there was nobody at the reception when I tried to check in. At this one I had to sneak in and wait for about an hour before anyone came. The place didn't feel like a hostel anymore. There were very few tourists or travelers; the hostel was occupied by guest workers from India, none of them spoke English or Hebrew.

DIdn't stay here. Asked for a refund because of the war and advisory to not go. But no response.

Cinema Hostel is unique, one of a kind. I came to rest but if you lije night life, the bar and music is very popular. Nicest big outdoor balcony i have ever seen. I like the private capsule rooms, they seem a bit bigger than other hostels. Its a memorable exoerience to stay here .

Quirky place with good atmosphere. Cabins were a bit dusty and some communal areas could do with a deep clean. But wouldn't put me off staying there given the price.

friendly staff, modern and lively vibe and cozy common area. Room a bit tiny but fair enough for backpackers. The only downside is the sound proofing need to take caution. There's a asian convenience store just opposite the hostel!

Clean and Convenient

Our experience was the Cinema Hostel was friendly, fun and staffed with hard working employees and volunteers. Common toilets and showers were clean, and we were offered cleaning service in our room. Breakfast had several choices and coffee is free 24 hours per day. Wash your own dishes, clean up after yourself. The women at reception were helpful with suggestions and advice. Plenty of good food for take out or groceries nearby and a pleasant terrace to enjoy it. Fridge available for guests but crowded. Rav-Kav card was available at the front desk for ( I think) 5 pounds. Load it at the bus/light rail stops. So convenient! Thank you.

We paid for 3 nights. I have the receipt. After the second night, they told us to leave! We showed them the receipt and they didn’t care! Barbaric behavior!!

It is a hostel and the service is very basic, but the rooms are very affordable and you have everything you need. Staying in a private room is the best and people are very considerate and friendly at this hostel.

Excellent base for a visit to Jerusalem

After a long wait for checking in Everything else during my stay went very well. The location is excellent being close to the tram stop and an easy 10 min stroll from the gates to the Old City. One thing to note is that breakfast is from 8-10am and almost all tours begin before that so I wasn’t able to have the breakfast that I paid for on most days.

First and foremost, this is a hostel. If you're familiar with the hostel environment *and* you enjoy a hostel environment, then the environment is pretty standard. Shared kitchen, shared showers, shared bathrooms, etc. This is a good and not great feature, where sometimes you'll meet amazing people and have great encounters; other times...well...yeah. So I specify to put that out of the way, as in, I'm not basing my review on the fact that the hostel environment is loud and sometimes unpleasant. If you don't like hostels, noises, etc., then know this is going to be a typical hostel in that regard. However, a bonus here is the staff and volunteers are pretty epic. I'd give the workers a 5 star rating. The breakfast is salad, eggs, tahini, bread, cereal, etc. The capsules are as noisy if not noisier than the dorms, so beware if you choose one because of quietness; however, they are private. I generally felt safe at the Cinema, and the location is epic and perfect if you want to be in the heart of the City. A few things around the hostel don't work exactly perfectly, and there's a bar upstairs that has a big party on Thursdays that attracts creepy guys (who thankfully don't live in the hostel, but beware single ladies). Great experience overall. A few glitches, but again, it's a hostel. I'd recommend to anyone who is cool with hostels, and this comes from someone who has stayed in many Israeli hostels.

The Cinema Hostel offers several activities that are open to the public as well as guests. Music Jam, Language exchange club, and sunset yoga are just a few. The staff is multilingual and very helpful in everything from check in to giving directions to sites/attractions. They also welcome volunteers so one can work for their bed/board. I am having a wonderful time here in Jerusalem and knowing I have a comfortable/safe place to return after exploring the city allows me a freedom I had not expected as a first time international traveler!

I tried to check in twice. One time there was a note that staff wasnt available at 2 pm. Another time arounf 6 pm. I was informed by the clerk that i couldnt check in (along with others) because of something I couldn't understand. Perhaps about a group. After continuing to wait, I left and did not stay. Very disappointing. Would not recommend.

Staff 好好人，但呢個價錢唔好期望住得好好，雖然多人share設施，但係啲清潔都清得好密。設施ok，交通方便，但啲冷氣麻麻地。

Amazing. Stay here. Lovely people. Can’t praise this place enough

Location was great and the basic breakfast was convenient but the capsule area was like a frat house. Paper dispenser for hand towels was usually empty after 8 pm, so prople resorted to using toilet paper. You could hear the smallest sound from all around the area. There was one night when four people were sitting around in their’jammies talking and laughing loudly - for hours. After 10 pm, I tried to (WhatsApp) call the front desk. No answer for 9 calls. Then the phone rolled to busy a couple times (?), then another no-answer. I gave up. For Covid safety, i would have been better off in a smaller dorm room, wups. BUT rhe dorm and private rooms were off the main social / kitchen area… so noise will be an issue either way.

Great property convenient location

I didn’t get to stay here long, but the location, and facilities are great! Definitely staying here again next time I’m in Jerusalem

A capsule without air is more like a coffin. I repeatedly asked for help and was lied to about solutions which never came. Other than not being able to sleep the place was nice.

Cool hostel great a great vibe. I stayed in a private queen bedroom, although it was small it was perfect for 2 budget travelers. The hostel looked new and was clean.

once is enough

This place is on the “run down” side. Everything needs a good scrub, a new paint job and some serious maintenance. The shower head felt on my head, the curtain + rod came off the wall and felt on my head. The water ran all over floor when showering. I was given the wet bedding, and it was so stink that I have to exchange it. I was on the top bunk and the ceiling flood light directed 3 feet away from my face. Everytime it switched on, it felt like a torture lamp. And the AC was 4 feet away from my body and it was on all night. It made me sick the next day. But I most happy with the staff. They were very friendly, helpful and professional. Shout out to Maor and Andrew for making my stay bearable.

I was refused lodgings because I'm over the age of 45 years. I was to be in a women's dorm so did not need to be decorative for males. A previous stay said nothing about age and I was camping, rarely appearing at all only to us the bathroom in a public space. A citizen of Israel, I expect more for my VAT taxes.

Nice hostel, wouldn't stay again.

I stayed here earlier in my trip and faced the same issue both times. I know I booked a mixed dorm but I feel the staff should put people of the same age range in the same dorm. Both times I stayed here it was just me and a man over the age of 40 in a 6 bed dorm (I am a 26 year old solo female traveller). The second time, the receptionist gave me a top bunk which I am completely fine with however it was above the only other person in this room thus making an uncomfortable situation even more uncomfortable.

A nice hotel

It is a nice place to stay. It will be perfect if there is a washing machine or laundry services.

I like the decoration and the location. Not far from the market and Jaffe Gate. People are friendly. Breakfast was basic.

Best experience at a Hostel. Very good.

My stay was good, almost very good because it was during Purim celebrations and the hostel was crowded and noisy, but good especially for the young people who had lots of entrainment and activities. Every thing else was very good considering it is a Hostel and what was offered was very good for the price.

Not recommended the risk

Its ur Typical clean but rude, unorganized, uniformational, rock hard bed, and uncompfortable Israeli accommodation. Not a safe, fun, accommodating, and tourist ready social part of the world that would be worth there money hungry price tag that they charge for everything here that in return really lacks quality, taste, organized service and comfort in return for all your harder working dollars u get forced to spend here compared to greater cheaper less greedy more organized business ready Europe that is.

Wonderful stay at Cinema

Had a wonderful stay at Cinema. Easy access location, 5 mins walk from the tram station, 15 mins walk to Jaffa Gate. It has friendly staff who offers useful travel information. Free movie every night. Comfortable and clean bedroom. Various choices of breakfast with hot dishes. Highly recommend to friends.

1 Bathroom for a 12-bed dorm is a big minus.

The hostel was nice, modern, updated. However, the ten person room was a bit cramped and it smelled terrible! They assign each bed and I happened to be the top bunk by the door by the light, which was a bit irritating. I did like the rollable cages under the bed you could lock your stuff in and the USB ports at each bed for charging. The common area is large and there is a movie night every night (as it used to be a former cinema), but that basically means its difficult to do anything else in the common room. Also there are many rooms attached to the common room, which I would imagine would be problematic with the noise. Luckily, my room was not one of those. The staff was very helpful and the location was very convenient to get to the Old City.

Great hostel! Washroom can be a bit of a problem due to water from shower. Best hostel experience ever! Coffee machine available for use throughout the day. Breakfast is good for hostel standards.

Hostel staff was great! Loved the fact that they have a kitchen that you can use to cook meals. They had a movie night and a rooftop "party" while I was there which made socializing a breeze. Beds were comfortable and you were responsible for putting the lining on. Only downfall is the bathroom setup. There wasn't any counter space and after anyone showered the floor would be wet and sticky. The rooms are a bit smaller than I have seen in past hostels but was manageable. Make sure if you are leaving after reception leaves for the night (which is pretty late) you know the code to get in and out. They do have an elevator, although it wasn't working when I was there. The sitting area is also nice.

Cinema hostel was an amazing place to explore Jerusalem. The staff are friendly, helpful and beyond. The place is new and has very nice facilities and good quality items (bedsheets, kitchen appliances). It's evident they put details in every single thing and that's appreciated by travelers. I came for two nights and I've extended my time there because I enjoyed both the city and the hostel.

個室の部屋の中は比較的綺麗なのですが、シャワールームとトイレが最悪レベルです。また、部屋の外のカーペットが本当に汚く、いつ大量のダニが発生してもおかしくないと思います。 ホステルの下の階には、大量のインド人移民が住み着いているようで、屋上では妙な料理をしたり、肉体労働をしてるような感じでした。彼らの大量のスリッパが放置されており、時折ドアが開いており、覗き込むとほんとに汚い生活をしているのが目に入ってきます。 外観はマクドナルドのある比較的綺麗なビルなのですが、中はカオス状態です。トイレは紙がなく、全く掃除がされていない状況です。シャワーブースも、ドアが壊れており、水が出ないブースもありました。かろうじて見つけたブースは、お湯はちゃんと出ました。 ただ、個室の中はシーツやタオルがきれいでしたので、その点は評価できます。立地が良く、値段が安いそれだけが取れたと思います。

Eu super recomendo.

Achei o local incrível. Limpeza diária. Funcionários e colaboradores sempre atenciosos (exceto um rapaz da recepção que não tinha muita simpatia). Café da manhã ótimo. Ar condicionado na medida certa. Uma máquina de café a disposição dos hóspedes, achei isso fantástico. Chuveiro ótimo. O prédio é de apenas um andar, mas conta com elevador, que dá acessibilidade a cadeirantes, e deixo meus parabéns para hostel por esta atitude. Tem até uma balada pra quem gosta às quintas feiras (que é a sexta feiras deles). Tem realmente seções de filmes aos interessados. Um piano para quem quiser tocar. E uma cozinha totalmente equipada e disponível aos hóspedes para preparar as refeições. Tudo condizente com os valores da diária (que não é cara). Agora quem quer luxo procure um hotel 5 estrelas. Pois já li cada comentário bizarro.

W hostelu tym zarezerwowałam nocleg po raz drugi. Pierwszy raz byłam rok temu w Cinema Hostel. Poprzednio miałam bardzo dobre wrażenia i opinię na temat tego hostelu i dlatego ponownie zarezerwowałam nocleg w tym hostelu w tym roku. Hostel jest czysty. W pokojach również obsługa dba o czystość. Nocowałam w 12-osobowym pokoju, w którym hostelowicze mają do własnej dyspozycji łazienkę z ubikacją i prysznicem. Środki czystości są ogólnodostępne przy umywalce jak również pod prysznicem. Łóżka są wygodne, pościel otrzymuje się w cenie noclegu. Przy każdym łóżku jest lampka. W hostelu znajduje się ogólnodostępna kuchnia, która jest bardzo dobrze wyposażona. Lodówka również jest do dyspozycji hostelowiczów.Kawa, herbata, czekolada pitna są dostępne bez ograniczeń. W piątkowe wieczory odbywa się kolacja szabasowa w cenie 48 NIS. Ponadto, w hostelu organizowane są wieczorne sense filmowe - nazwa hostelu oraz to, iż hostel powstał w miejscu starego kina zobowiązuje. Obsługa jest miła i pomocna. nie ma problemów z zameldowaniem o każdej porze dnia i nocy, ani z wymeldowaniem. Hostel znajduje się niedaleko Jaffa Street; około 15 minut od Starego Miasta i około 25 minut od Centralnego Dworca Autobusowego oraz Dworca Kolejowego.

War alles ok .. Nicht besonders !! Das Zimmer wurde alle 2 oder 3 Tage gereinigt.

Super centraal

Heel makkelijk bereikbaar met tram vanuit het centraal station of een wandeling van 25 min. Heel leuk kader een voormalige cinema. De bar vonden we echt sfeervol, er was een jammsessie die avond. Lekkere coctails. We sliepen in een 2 pers capsule. Super comfortabel bed. Kleine ruimte maar dat weet je op vorhand. We sliepen er 1 nacht en hadden enkel een rugzak bij. Met 2 grote koffers zou het echt krap zijn. Er is geen ruimte rond het bed. Enkel 1 m ervoor. Onder het bed kan je je koffer kwijt. Stopcontact en usb aansluitingen. Je krijgt een hangslot om je capsule af te sluiten. Zorg zeker dat je je paspoort en "ticketje" dat je op de luchthaven kreeg bij hebt. Indien niet betaal je extra tax.... Als neg punt vond ik de zware parfumgeur die er constant is. Ik had er last van, mss anderen niet...
