Convenient for what we needed - the bedding was basically a sheet - no comforter. February in Northern MN - you need a blanket on the bed not a sheet. Leather recliner chair in room needs replaced, the leather is falling off. Staff was friendly and nice breakfast

Some things never change and that’s not a compliment when it comes to our stay. My family and I headed up to the hotel late Friday. We got an unexpected call around 9PM asking if we were showing up. We were actually very close, but was told we’d be considered a no show if we weren’t there by 10PM. Found out quickly the pool area “renovation” hasn’t been done for years. Soon after settling in the fire alarm tripped over 5 times between 10PM till 4AM. Thankfully no fire, but also poor communication on what was going on. Ice machine doesn’t work. Furthermore, when we went down to the breakfast room the fridge was completely locked and bananas were brown. This place has so much potential, but it looks like the owner prefers to pinch pennies in place of caring for this hotel.

The room and even the sheets seemed dirty. The access door at the end of the hall was broken and remained open, even though it was a cold night. I looked at reviews and the pool has been closed for many months, though there is no mention of that when I booked. No ice machine, the breakfast was feeble, not even water in the breakfast room.

Dirty. Stained carpeting in room. Pool area, and hot tub all closed. Would not check in until evening front desk, understaffed, and long check in process.

Coffee and breakfast options were only fair

Staff was nice and room was clean. Location very good for us going to races in Hibbing. Pool wasnt in service and more choices for breakfast would be nice. However we enjoyed our stay and will stay there again

We enjoy the hotel. Beds are comfortable, room is dark, heating unit less noisy than other hotels, pleasant decor, and refrigerator kept our cooler items cold and ice packs stayed nearly frozen. Unfortunately, there was a very active loud thumper above us both mornings. Also the side security door just feet from our room didn’t close at all - a bit unnerving. Hope that’s fixed before our next stay!

The room was quiet and clean. No elevator in the 2 story building. Nice accommodations for its location. There’s a McDonalds that is nearby. The breakfast offerings available, but not what I expected. I would stay there again.

It was adequate. I was disappointed that the pool and hot tub were not working.

The suites are not suites. Website made it sound like there were two separate bedrooms. Nope. The futon was described as a queen but was a single at most and was an old, nasty pleather, metal bar in your back model. Then, there was hair in the sheets in a bed in the extra room that I had to book due to the misleading information of suites. The toilet paper dispenser completely pulled away from the counter under mount! Not to mention they told me that they would discount my rooms due to all of the mishaps. Only to see that I actually got charged the full plus more price. UGH!! It was completely exhausting!

We stayed at this Hotel a few years ago and found it clean, comfortable and reasonably priced- However, our recent stay was not pleasant- The carpet was filthy-! And the room smelled and was not clean- The furniture was very worn and broken-We will not be back- Hopefully, they will renovate and update the rooms soon-

Our second time at the Chisholm Inn. Good value, friendly staff, clean rooms.

The people at the front desk are very nice and helpful. The ice machine was out of order as was the pool and hot tub. The hotel is a bit worn and could use updating. The location is great if your biking the Mesabi Trail.

Lack of hot water at 8am.

The girl at the front desk was excellent, very accommodating. Too expensive but i guess when you are the only place in town you charge what you want. Pool and hot tub under construction, another reason price should be reduced. Breakfasr was ok but again not what one would expect for the price being charged. No hot options other than something you have to heat up in a microwave.

Charming lobby and nice front staff. Great coffee. However, our room was damp and had evidence of poor cleaning (left over wrappers, low stock toiletries and tissue). Rooms need updates and deep cleans.

The beds were super comfy. No elevator! My room was clean but outdated. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. The lady at the desk was very helpful.

The service was excellent, the staff were very helpful, and the price of the room was reasonable.

Pet friendly hotel. Clean room with comfy bed. Nice variety of breakfast items.

It was good for sleeping only. Check in is at 3:00 and we didn't check in until around 6:00, but the room wasn't ready due to the housekeeping staff not starting until 3:00. The TV remote didn't work. One of the two days we stayed there, the water turned cold halfway through and didn't warm even turning the knob all the way to hot.

Place was full, no noise from other rooms. Easy parkingf

Good: Wall A/C worked well. Bad: MIssing tile in the middle of the bathroom floor. Carpet was stained. Light in bathroom was very dim. Continental breakfast met minimum requirements, minimal selection, cramped prep area, some items used up and only replenished after a delay.

Maintenance

The bathroom sink was clogged and the smoke detector needed a new battery.

Needs to be upgraded. Property is in serious feed of repair. Breakfast was almost non existing. No elevator.

I am handicapped and had to climb stairs. The pool was out of service. The ice machine was out of service. The TV was tiny. The shampoo was terrible. The breakfast was poor.

The Inn is an OK place for a quick stopover etc. limited continental breakfast and few amenities but overall meets the need.

No elevator soda machines did not have soda Or were room temperature sodas ice was downstairs. Hairdryer did not work no hot water for showers. Had to go down to front desk for extra toilet paper

Is not stated on website that pool and hot tub area are under construction. That is one of the reasons why I booked here, very, very disappointed.

Run down. Needs complete overhaul. Pool not in operation for at least 2 years. Poor continental breakfast. No ice machine, and pop machine did not work. Extremely poor value for the price.

Pool is out of service for the next year. Our room was not ready for 1.5hrs after scheduled 3pm check in.

Not impressed! Check in we were told pool is under renovation and don’t work. Ice maker Don’t work, vending machine has a sign on it that says drinks are room temperature. Next morning at breakfast waffle maker and microwave stopped working. Room was average but there wasn’t much else that was average at best.

I stayed there over Easter weekend. The hotel was very dead. So they could have put the people that were there anywhere but they congregated them all around my room above me and on both sides of me. I had my dog with me because they are pet friendly. One of the days I was there there was a dog in the room next to me that kept barking. I called the front desk to notify them of this because it was upsetting my dog and in turn he wanted to start barking. I just wanted to let them know it wasn't my dog that was doing the barking. Then they call me back and ask if my dog is barking! I said no I'm the one that called you! I think the owners left the dog and the room by itself and that's why it was barking? And then being I had people on both sides of my room I heard non-stop talking through the walls. I just didn't understand when they had pretty much the whole hotel to put people they put them all in one area! I had a jacuzzi tub in my room which was nice I used it a couple times. The bed was relatively comfortable. Overall my stay was okay. Just a few things that didn't make sense to me that could have been different and made my stay a little better. I might stay there again if I am in that area.

Lackluster hospitality

Hotel needs some attention. When we walked in our room it had a smell to it. We found a partial bag of cheez-its in the bedside table. Linens on bed were clean, but it sure didn’t make up for how uncomfortable the beds were. TV wasn’t working, required someone to come into our room to get it fixed. Breakfast was also not good. Limited options, and very lacking in flavor. Nobody was checking to see if things needed to be restocked, or wiping down tables. We don’t need a fancy place to stay, but I do want cleanliness and comfort. Breakfast is nice to have included, but I’d rather go elsewhere when things are presented the way they were here. Seems like an afterthought, rather than caring about our stay and our repeat business… which there will not be, unless there are major changes made. We came for a bonspiel tournament, which happens annually. We will rethink where we stay next time. We had family staying in 3 rooms. Nobody asked us how we enjoyed our stay, I’m thinking they already know what the answer is and don’t want to hear it. If I pay $50/night, I don’t expect much. But with what we paid per night here, I definitely expect more. Pool and hot tub were out of commission due to remodeling? Although, we didn’t see any of that going on, I can’t attest to the fact that they aren’t doing renovations. I sure hope they are and they really try to improve their lackluster hospitality.

Loved it, great selection of breakfast items

Everything was fine. Very clean, friendly service, great breakfast selection. The only negative was that I paid extra for a room with a jetted tub but I ran out of hot water while filling the tub and could never figure out how to turn on the jets.

Was a brief but nice stay

It was OK. Old bars of soap on the bathtub surround. Rooms not updated. Pool was closed, we weren't told that when booking. Breakfast was above average, though! Family of manager? parked their vehicles in front, on the ingress/egress to the parking lot so you couldn't meet another car on the driveway.

Floor in 1st room was soaking wet so got be room. Long hairs on back of toilet and old chips behind futon. Bed sheets were nice and clean and front desk was super friendly and helpful!!

It was a comfortable night's sleep.

We stay at this property every year when in Hibbing got events and it is conveniently located and the most affordable option, but the condition has gone down hill every year with the price going up. It is a safe and comfortable stay and we will likely continue to stay here for that reason, but the hotel has been under remodel for over a year with the pool area closed. This year we noticed the rooms had been very hastily cleaned with hair left on countertops, splatter on mirrors and soap dish, and some garbage left about. There was also mold on the muffins at breakfast and the water in the shower in one of our rooms would not get above luke warm. The staff is friendly and relaxed

When I arrived the TV wasn't working and though I was told someone would look at it no one ever came. The carpets and furniture is well worn and unattractive. Needs a lot of work

No pool or hot tub

Extremely disappointed pool area closed. Pool area has been closed & under renovation for years. Hotels itself in pretty rough shape. 3 giants cracks in sink in bathroom. In need of serious updating and basic upkeep.

Significant issues

The bed was comfortable and clean, but the fitted sheet was on inside out and pulled away from the mattress. Most notable, there was feces and toilet paper in the toilet when I first used it. Some fecal matter was on the inside rim of the toilet. The window was blocked by a full debris box. Breakfast was okay.

This property needs a Hotel Rescue!

Hotel was renovating. We were very happy with the service, warm room & great TV reception.

Needed some cleaning, ice machine not working, no shower curtain, etc.

Pretty average stay and met expectations. Not overly clean or dirty. Coffee pot still had grounds and coffee from previous guest (not all materials refreshed since last guest). Stay was relatively quiet. Breakfast was average, with decent waffle-maker.

The pool was closed down and we heard that it had been for sometime. The other guests were loud. We did love the breakfast and the staff were nice. I think they could improve on their hotel, but it wasn’t bad. The lobby was very warm and inviting.

It's a 2 star hotel...

Average 2 star hotel. Had a tiny coffee maker in room... But no cups. Tiny TV that I didn't use. 2nd morning no hot breakfast and coffee was all gone... So not a great experience.

Staff was friendly, however the property is very outdated and could use some updates and maintenance.

Booked because it had a pool and hot tub. I enquired on arrival and was told they were down for repairs. I cancelled and got my money back.

Good place to stay

Room was not cleaned at check-in. Once called that it had been cleaned, checked in but there was stuff on the carpet, stain on the sheet, stickiness on desk. Floor in the breakfast area was very dirty. Workers were friendly and helpful though.

Just a weird vibe. Christmas decorations and fake flower decor … dust caked on the coffee maker… drains all seemed a bit clogged … inexplicably moist atmosphere and old, stained carpets … lots of debris behind the dresser…. Couldn’t find a tv station that worked. Crumbs on a broken futon in the “suite” room. Flies in the room. Sign that says let the staff know when you check out but the staff wasn’t there lol The bed was surprisingly comfortable though! Inexplicably comfortable, so that helped at least. This hotel really needs some updating. Don’t think I’d come back unless i absolutely had nowhere else to sleep when visiting.

It was terrible-dirty and very rundown. They charged $50 for damage deposit to be taken off at later time. How dare they even post it to my charge card when they should have given me $50 to stay there. Neve again

Only issue was room coffee -- tasted old and not good.

Close to Hwy 169, some traffic noise. Motel is being remodeled so bathroom has some missing tiles and some amenities aren’t available.

Urine in toilet when I arrived, woke up in the middle of the morning when my hand touched a towel under the covers, someones wet spot towel, gross. Crumbs on the floor. Pool and hot tub not working. Told front desk with emotionless response from staff.

Hotel is outdated and rundown. Bathroom was so nasty, I don’t know why rooms aren’t checked by management to ensure cleanliness. Carpet was ripped in places, coffee maker was dirty and leaked water so couldn’t use. The complimentary breakfast was the only good thing.
