Pretty good!!
We were surprised there was no real person to check in with- it was fine, but I would like to have known. Not all the room lights work Nice and quiet at night Nice hot water
Very quiet, quirky, gorgeous bathroom and air con if needed. The carpet hadn't been hoovered so it looked grubby. No teaspoons in the room to stir your coffee/tea. Bar/restaurant wasnt open as I think its being worked on.Plenty of pubs/restaurants in walking distance.
Great location and views in a quirky hotel
Small hotel in a converted building. Great décor and fantastic views of the Minster and square. Perfect location just 2 mins from the bus station and all local amenities. Clean rooms and towels. Free water, hot drinks and toiletries. Terrestrial TV. Massive bathroom. The huge bath would benefit from some hand rails as difficult to get in and out and very slippery! The shower was powerful. There are no staff on site so you need to call a mobile number if you need anything - we did not so all good. A delicious and generous hot breakfast was served in the Wheatsheaf pub (right opposite the hotel). I would definitely return to this hotel and Newport is the perfect location to discover the island.
Fabulous Hotel
Lovely accommodation, very stylish design. Good facilities in the room. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The only trouble was. Which was not really your fault, the two nights we were there we had a couple have a fight out side.
Good, but could be better
Overall it was value for money, clean comfortable with an excellent choices for breakfast . However only a couple of niggles, there was only one hand towel instead of two, no hand soap , parking is a pain had to use an overnight car park 5 minutes walk away which in decent weather is ok however this weekend was torrential rain and we got soaked going back to our car. Also , no one on duty when we checked in so couldn't ask anyone about towels soap etc and though the shower was working it was not working properly. Understand they can't do anything about the parking but fix the things that are under their control and the stay would have been better and don't like that there wasn't anyone around to help if needed.
Great property! Would reccomend. Easy check in. Very spacious room and very clean. Slightly noisy outside in the mornings with bin men so be sure to close your windows however this is to be expected as in the middle of a convenient square. We loved our stay. Thank you!
Awful customer service
Where is everyone?!
Air conditioning not working & the fan placed in room did not work either so a very hot uncomfortable night. Would have been nice to have been told this but did not see a member of staff.
No Desk at Check in
There was no desk upon checking in. No human to guide with parking onsite. No place to park while checking in. The location is bad if you are visiting with a car. There is no WIFI in the lobby, so we had to buy 1 hour EE wifi so that we could download parking app.
Beautiful building in central Newport Excellent base for touring the island by car or bus Decorated in an industrial style with a touch of Italian Sprezzatura
Nice place, needs some staff?
Completely self check in, no staff anywhere
The hotel was absolutely fantastic. Located centrally and an ideal place to stay if attending the IOW festival which we were. The team on site from the moment we arrived right through to we departed were amazing and so very helpful. Totally recommend this place. Well done keep up the good work
Perfect town centre location
Excellent central town location, so don’t expect complete silence, although the loudest noise was from the seagulls! Probably the best value for money hotel in years. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly and good source of local knowledge. Highly recommend
A very cute boutique style hotel Friendly staff Great breakfast!
Overall a great location and resonable price. The problem is the website has not been updated and there is NO staff on site so everything is digital and they send you a code to get in and into your room. Had we known this, it would have been fine but the website says 24 hour front desk. Also says they have a restaurant…it’s there but not staffed and not open. And no way to reach the hotel or staff….UPDATE THE WEBSITE so folks know what to expect at check in.
service was excellent, nice people. The only thing that annoyed me was parking was not available though it is mentioned on the website(paid parking). It was difficult to find street parking late at night and walk with family and kids to the property.
Stayed for 2 nights , bed was comfy room was spacious bathroom was very nice breakfast was also really good and the servers where very nice Would definitely recommend to a friend
Very nice!
Clean and spacious
Lovely place to stay and so comfortable. Only issue was that on Hotels.com the checkout time said 11am. According to the cleaner that knocked on our door at 10:30 it was 10. Not ideal after New Year’s Eve.
The room are very clean and recently renewed, a mirror is missing! Check in and parking wasn't easy (be aware that it's a self checking property). Breakfast was very poor, all the vegetarian option unavailable and what we tried was horrible and cold!
Very nice hotel. I received a message on the day on my arrival to explain the check in process. All went smoothly. I had a top floor room and it was very nice and clean. The room was a bit cold when I arrived but it soon warmed up once I figured out how to get the heating on. Very friendly staff at breakfast and breakfast was also good with plenty of choices. Parking in the adjacent streets is available , payable at £2 for the night til 8am. I will stay there again next time i come to the island. Thank you.
Great Hotel, ideamlly located
Loved this centrally licated, clean, friendly, comfy hotel. Parking was difficult to locate
Great location. Room and bath were large, clean and had both a coffee maker and kettle. Great selections of restaurants within walking distance. Parking was on the street, if you could find a spot. Hotel had only 6 parking spots, but 3 of those were taken up with dumpsters and other large trash items (I guess from a remodel of a nearby building). Other than parking, we had a great stay.
Situated centrally. Friendly, helpful staff.
Excellent
It was amazing
We are very happy to stay in this property everything is maintained very clean and the staff is very welcoming. We liked the ambians and everything is good
Quirky rooms, great breakfast and very helpful staff
A pleasant stay!
Room ok Bathroom fantastic Parking across the road in a secure maned multi-storey park Food next fort Breakfast across the road
IOW stay
Nice, quiet and clean. Breakfast left a lot to be desired
Superb!!!.
Hi fellow travelers, I would like to give 5 stars rating for Charter house in Isle of Wight. This is because the place is really in the center. Bus is just 2 mins walk and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Moreover, the room is amazing. The vintage design makes it feel home while other parts of the room is modern. I like how the fused these two designs in one. Overall, this is an excellent place to stay and will definitely come back.
Appalling
Happy with the room shame about the bathroom the toilet still leaking from the previous week and had the same room on the Tuesday and went to the bar to complain about the toilet stil, being the same after having a note out side the door last week after being told the plummer would be out monday to fix it so when arrived tuesday to find the toilet still leaking when flushed text the manger out of hours and didnt answer the call the so text her and still not replie and think it disgusting how they treat people here paid £89 Thursday to friday then friday to sunday paid afurther £160.20 then tuesday paid another £89for the toilet to still be leaking disgrace
Easy, simple and lovely
Nice enough but some issues
Lovely room but a bit disappointing. I was really looking forward to having a nice relaxing bath after a long day... The plug didnt seal properly and let all the water out before I had a chance to finish my hair, also the hot water had gone so had to have a rather cold shower. Although there is an out of hours number to call if you need anything, it would have been nice to see someone when I checked out. I popped out for dinner in the evening at 6:40 and the reception was closed, checked out at 8:45am and still closed.
Charter house
Rooms are tasteful and good facilities. All good!
Very Nice
Very good, well organised and clean
Hotel from hell
Absolutely awful stay. A wonderfully nice room turned sour by the staff who look after it. Dust everywhere, rude staff who don't care to answer the phone/help you if they see you reception staff who are never there, there is a night club on the bottom floor so you won't get any sleep at night! And if you can then you will be stuck with no heating or cooling, the AC was faulty and had been disabled prior to our arrival and the windows wouldn't open as they are sealed shut permanently, and being on the top floor all the heat was trapped up there! It was around 30*C in the room with nothing but a cheap £10 fan provided to us to cool us down! Management did not care at all as they knew we couldn't go anywhere else as every weekend the whole island's hotels are fully booked. Dreadful. Sometimes the hot water wouldn't work. Would never ever stay here at this sorry excuse for a hotel. Thumbs down.
A lovely room large enough for 5 but there was only 3 of us. Sadly it was missing a couple of light bulbs. The breakfast could have been a bit larger and there was little thought for the gluten free contingent. Will stay at again if we are lucky enough
Although I was on a business trip, the location was perfect for doing a bit of shopping and there were a variety of restaurants in the area. The receptionist was welcoming on arrival. The room was large and an equally large bathroom. My only criticism of the bathroom was that the windows were only frosted in the lower section. Being 5'11" when stood in the shower, I could see the church door so I figure if someone looked up they would probably see me - I had to hang a couple of carrier bags over the window...sorry but I was a bit paranoid:-) The main room was warm, had a variety of complimentary snacks and water. There was even a safe, iron and ironing board. Unfortunately on my first night, the local church had Bell Practice (for about 2 hours!) and I needed to work. The following night was much better and probably representative of what the town is normally like on a weeknight - quite quiet considering this hotel is located in the centre of the town. The en-suite bathroom was spotless - I am very fussy when it comes to clean rooms and this was great. The cooked breakfast served up in the Tea Room was great! The variety was really good; they even had a veggie option. The two ladies running the breakfast room were lovely. It's a great place to stay for business or leisure. I will certainly be making a return visit with my husband.
The decor of the room was beautiful, it had both a rustic and luxurious feel to it and the welcome treat bowl was a lovely bonus! Breakfast was served in the pub opposite the hotel and service was a bit slow however for a free breakfast it was of an adequate standard. If you are looking for a high quality brekkie I would recommend venturing round the many local cafe's
Hotel and room was amazing, really nicely decorated and spacious, loved the treat bowl. Only let down was breakfast, this was served at the pub opposite and was a complete disaster.
excellent find
Great location, quirky rooms which were a good size and clean. Nice breakfast
The property is nice, the room we stayed in was quirky and clean. And welcomed with a wonderful basket of goodies.. BUT I had explained before that both me and my partner are vegan and vegetarian and we had gelatine sweets, and milk chocolate so it wasn't ideal for the vegan. The breakfast was okay, but on the second day it was rubbish. No hash browns or veggie sausages for the veggie breakfast so we had baked beans, some mushrooms and tomatoes for the vegan breakfast. And not much was done to help or cater for us, and when I explained I was super disappointed I was told that it was because the shops were closed? The service was okay, but the the reception is mostly closed so you just have to pop over to the neighbouring pub.
The room has a touch of old and new, layout is beautiful, modern toilet facilities and a huge 55" screen TV which was good for the kids entertainment.
Great little find in Newport
Lovely room and good location. Rooms were clean and modern.
Overall good, couple of improvements can be done
Perfect location, clean and stylish. Mirror and a bin in the bathroom would make it perfect.
Fantastic Hotel!!!
This hotel was ace from the moment I booked. I contacted the Ops Manager in advance and he couldn't have been more helpful. When we arrived the staff were brilliant. The room was large, the bed was perfect, the bathroom was spotless and the room and hotel just felt really good quality throughout. The hotel is fairly new but they seem to have hit the ground running. Oh and the cocktails are wicked at the bar too!! Don't hesitate to book this place because it is a great hotel in a great location.
Hyggeligt hotel til en god pris
Centralt placeret i Newport, lige ved kirken. Charmerende, "moderne-rustikke" værelser. Gratis snacks, vand, te og kaffe. Rigtig godt til prisen. Morgenmaden var desværre lidt kedelig.
We stayed for 1 night in the weekend, the place was clean and spacious but the lights were a little dim and the bed squeezed a lot each time one of us moved. There was also lots of noise from outside.
