Friendly and helpful staff. Checked in and out with ease. Stairs in the room were the only thing I didn’t like.
Liked everything it was perfect
Overall good! Decor is a bit dated but does not impact the stay, parking is limited so keep that in mind. Only issue is the AC/heating unit is only on one side of the suite so if you plan on closing the door to the room it gets cold in the winter, probably gets hot in the summer I would assume. Chili’s and the Keg restaurants are easy to access!
Overall a good experience, except for the fact that one of the front desk staff was quite rude and did not try to hid the fact that he did not want to be there. This staff member should be reminded that good customer service is an important part of working at a hotel, even if you dislike your job.
Rooms have been beautifully renovated! Excellent value in Banff.
in my loft room it was way to hot upstairs and the hot tub made me a chemical burn all over my body.
We enjoyed our stay in the loft room with a fireplace. It is a bit dated, but clean and cozy.
The linen used in the room on the bed was not clean at all. It was resused. Concerns was raised and it was fixed next day as it could not be chnahed after arrival. No microwave in room had to go down to lobby to always heat up something.. Over all not a pleasant experience.
Property as quiet and nice. Long walk to Pool in the cold when wet.
I love this place!!!
Our stay at Charltons was fine to disappointing for the most part the first night. The carpet was really old and needing replacement and the bed was uncomfortable. I wouldn’t stay there again. What made the rating go down is the paper thin walls and structural integrity questions I have. The people next door to us were having a party until 3 am and we could hear all of their laughing and most of what they were saying. I don’t know if they were having a wrestling match or running up and down the turnstile stairs but what they were doing shook our loft where we were sleeping. The lamps shook and moved and the bed jostled every time they bounced around in their room.
Hotel was clean and staff was really nice, parking wasn’t that good though.
Nice and clean
Very convenient, close to downtown. Had to pay for on site parking which I wasn’t aware of ahead of time.
Great stay
Great place nice views and great walking nearby…room location was quiet too!
Checkin person was very helpful and made sure we were set up for a great stay!
Beautiful room and view for the price.
They didn’t clean our room, just one day
The location is excellent with the entire Banff Ave area in comfortable walking distance. But the lack of elevator access when the lobby is closed is frustrating.
Good location, staff is friendly, pool had just opened from renovations, it's pretty good. The only thing is that you have to "go outside" as the corridors to the rooms are open - so be prepared on cold days. We stayed in the room with a kitchenette, which is convenient, but room is a bit outdated. Parking is under the building, also convenient, but paid extra. Location is good
Not great
Cleanliness was fine. Most importantly I was not happy about having to pay $15 for parking, first time I've ever had to pay an extra parking fee at a hotel, and it was not mentioned in the price when booking and that's very dishonest, also $50 for breakfast down the road at another hotel when most offer a free breakfast.
Not a very good experience for the price. Plus the charge for outside parking. Decided to stay in the loft bedroom, severely outdated plus the noise from one of the adjoining units. The only reason I would stay here again is if there was a storm and no other place to stay. Save your money, go somewhere else
Beautiful hotel! And the views are so beautiful. Stayed for 2 days with our family.
Staff was friendly Room was clean. We were in an updated room. It was very nice Nice big room
I wasn’t expecting that parking fees will not be included with the hotel stay (not even covered and heated) had to pay per day.
They have a storage room for snowboard and ski which is nice.
Parking is an extra fee, but location and amenities are worth the price. Would consider staying here again if I'm in the area
Booked 2 queen beds and got 2 double beds. Wasnt too bad though.
Had an excellent stay at Charltons Banff! The loft room was great. Our mini fridge did not work when we arrived but we notified the front & they switched the mini fridge within the hour. Overall great service & stay!
Amazing service. Lighting was an issue which was a bit irritating. Older building but amazing to have a kitchenette and the customer service was top notch. Definitely recommend for the price.
I didn’t like that it was $15 per night for parking.
Nicely renovated rooms
Good walking location to downtown Banff.
Outdated property. Parking area very poorly lit and small. Elevator is tiny and needed cleaning. Room size was adequate although smelled heavily of lemon cleaner and tile floor area was sticky. Beds very comfortable though and room was quiet.
We enjoyed our stay at Charlton’s. The room was very clean & the staff were great.
Customer service was wonderful. Fireplace suite with king bed was super cute for a mini honeymoon. 12-15 min walks from shops
I would go back
Well located Interesting rooms configuration (two-stored room) Unfortunately pool was closed Bathrobe provided
Poor sound proof and poor staff service.
The property is misrepresented in the photos. We were expecting a clean, good condition suite and ended up with a place that hasn’t been maintained. The place was falling apart. The key card reader was beeping constantly to indicate low battery. When the staff was notified, no action was taken. This noise disrupted our sleep. The heating/cooling/fan unit in the loft was so loud that we couldn’t get a good sleep and when the staff was notified in the morning, the response was that “the units are old and they all make these noises”. I couldn’t believe that no one cares enough to keep these places in good condition for the price they’re charging per night.
Great stay, room was clean. Enjoyed the pool at the sister facility 2 hotels away.
Good deal for the price paid.
Great

Easy access to places around Banff
It was amazing!
Very terrible condition of this MOTEL I got a room with 2 storeies. The stair case to go on upper level is terrible. If someone would get hurt it would be very bad for them. No room service when i left my room after first night stay. Property needs to be renovated properly. There is no instruction about parking on expedia website so not sure it’s expedia fault or MOTEL website. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I would like to spend 50-75 dollar extra and live in nice hotel with breakfast and parking included with good staff service.
It was walking distance from downtown
Value for money, convenient, friendly staff.
It was an amazing place to stay. Bed is so comfy and relaxing. Me and my husband is already planning to go back with our kids.
Great staff and property
Very decent
I went for a working weekend .. the internet was always down in my room .. I complained the first day .. nothing was done .. the complained second day .. nothing done .. I want a refund .. I need the internet for my work .. I used about 4 gig .. my phone did connect To the internet in the pool area .. but not my room … where I needed it ..
Long weekend in Banff
Really nice room, Excellent front desk staff and a great location. Would certainly stay again
Room was nice and clean and staff were friendly. Could hear the neighbors next door.
Pool and hot tub were closed which was unfortunate.
I wish the hotel won't charge their guests to park.
Good
My daughter and I really liked Charltons Banff. The staff were absolutely amazing! They were welcoming, kind, and helpful throughout our entire stay. The property itself is a dated on the outside. I know some of their rooms have been modernized, however, we stayed in the kitchenette, which was dated but clean. What we loved though is the fact that we had a bedroom in front, kitchen and bath in the middle and another bedroom in the back. Each bedroom had a door to the outside. I was intentional in choosing a property with a kitchen so we could make our meals when we didn’t want to go out. The property is walking distance to downtown Banff. And there’s a bus stop about two short blocks down, which takes you to all the sites in the area. Parking is available on site, but costs a small fee. There is a ceiling limit, be mindful if you are driving a raised truck or tall camping van. Note that they shared that you can park on the street behind the hotel for free, but it was always full. Overall, next time we are in Banff, we will come back to the Charltons.
The pool and hot tub were great. Parking on their property is $15 which was a surprise. The room was nice but the mattress had a large hole/indent on the one side of the bed. We called the front desk to notify them and it was suggested we put towels in the hole to help even out the mattress. Needless to say my partner had a terrible sleep on the mattress. We talked to a manager the next day who seemed concerned and said he would follow up with us but we have not heard from anyone. Looking at previous reviews it seems that same room (206) had a previous guest at the beginning of October who had issues with the bed but yet the hotel is still renting out the room
Big, beautiful, clean room. Easy walking to downtown. Nice pool, hot tub and steam room. Parking on site. Great stay for our family!
The Charltons Banff did not disappoint! Our room was clean, quiet and we had a beautiful view!! We will absolutely stay here again!
Very nice little hotel inside Banff township.
In the Main Street, really easy to park in place, ext access, 10 min walking to downtown
Needed to pay for parking upon arrival no mention on website when booking $15 a night in Banff ridiculousness
Stayed for a few days while in Banff. Convenient parking (additional cost), walkable to the IGA and restaurants, and the room was clean and beds were comfortable (we had one of the 3rd floor rooms overlooking the mountain— very pretty). One comment we had was there is no standard timing on when rooms are cleaned. One day it was not until after 4pm and then another it was before 10am. It may be because it was around thanksgiving weekend. Not a huge deal for us but just to keep in mind. Will stay here again if we visit Banff.
Great location nice and clean
The Charltons Banff is a fantastic property to use as a base in this beautiful town. We loved everything about it from the staff to the spacious, clean, and very comfortable room. Everything is in walking distance in town so driving and finding parking isn’t really necessary. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this great property again.
We loved our stay at Charltons! We booked a newly renovated room and it was beautiful! The room was very large with 2 beds, a sitting area, a bathroom with a tub and shower. The room also had a view of the mountains right next to the hotel from both large windows. The pool and hot tub were the main reason for us booking this hotel and we were very happy with them! The pool was the perfect temperature (not freezing, and not a hot pool) and the hot tub was a great temperature as well. I also tried out the steam room which was nice. The only negatives were that they don’t offer breakfast (they do have a coffee station), and don’t have a restaurant for lunch or supper. You can hop on the roam bus right in front of the Fox Hotel next door. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Banff!
Peace
Very walkable to main strip of downtown Banff.
Staff were nice.
Very good
Staff at the front desk need to have better knowledge that there is no safe for valuables in the room only at reception, follow-up for items requiring attention needs to be prioritised, for the guests
I love the suit unit as we are able to cook our own food.
A microwave in the room would have been ideal. Parking situation in Banff period sucks. Would’ve been nice to have free parking at the hotel. Front desk staff was super helpful and nice. Room was really nice. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Beds were comfy and overall the room was clean, save for a piece of floss found on the floor near the garbage.
A little spendy but we had a great stay. Breakfast is not included.
Broken bed
If they give you room 206, ask for a different room. The bed is broken. I did not find this out until i went to bed. They offered to move us to a new room. I declined as our items were already unpacked, I wasnin my pajamas and ready for sleep.
Cheapest but disappointing
Check in and lobby looks tired and dated and the front desk staff seemed bored. Our room 3rd floor rear, was actually nicely appointed and decorated, however we had to ask to have the TV fixed as it had no signal and the four pillows provided on each bed were all over stuffed and uncomfortable. There didn't seem to be any breakfast on offer other than a very limited tea/coffee service. We didn't eat dinner there, it wasn't very inviting.
Hotel was ok. We had a room at the back which was adequate although housekeeping seemed to turn up late afternoon which was inconvenient, so in 10 days they only came in 3 times. We didn't have a renovated room so carpet could do with replacing. If you're looking for mod cons this isn't the place to stay.
Convenient. Room had no bedding for pull out except I found a blanket
Beautiful Banff in the Fall
Room was large and clean and very quiet. Excellent location for accessibility to town.
average
This is a great location, nominally priced, and very clean place to stay- perfect for what I needed! It’s not a luxury hotel but it’s decent, clean, has a usable Kitchenette, and is a great location
Very clean and spacious room that we had. Looks recently renovated. No microwave in our room was a big deal to us. Lobby area is quite small, but pool and hot tub are very clean and well maintained. We parked on the street behind the hotel- so you don’t necessarily need to pay to park ($50 bucks a day is ridiculous). Parking fee and the lack of a microwave is why they get a lower rating from me.
Banff and surrounding areas is just unreal in it's beauty. This hotel added to the beautiful experience we had there. It's close enough to downtown to walk but you don't get the busy-ness. We did a lot of hiking and the hot tub and sauna helped soothe our muscles at the end of the day. Added bonus, they lend bikes for free (and it's the nice ones with the curved handles) so I got to bike around town with my kids. Staff were very helpful and responsive. Our room was really nice but my wife wished there was a mirror outside the bathroom so she can do her makeup while other people are using it. Also our room was on the other side of the building so when we come out of the hot tub, we have to walk around the balconies that wrap around the floors exposed to the cold evening. But it's ok, we just wiped ourselves as dry as possible and wear the bathrobe or extra towels to wrap around. It's just the way the building is designed so it's all good.
Lovely room, spacious and clean, comfy beds and about 10-15 min walk to the centre of Banff. If you like amenities outside of your room I wouldn’t recommend, and no onsite breakfast facilities.
Good
Overall decent if a bit worn
Great spot within walking distance to downtown Banff. Easy access to freeway for day trips to park.
The hotel kicked me out because I had Asked pet friendly and they only had limited rooms and I didn’t see their Expedia message because I’m not used to the app.. I was kicked out of the hotel at 11 PM at night in the freezing cold and nowhere to go
Rather dated and expensive. Nice having a bedroom up a spiral staircase, staff very helpful and friendly
Clean but very outdated. But thats normal for Banff, Jasper burned down so everyone had to change plans so everyone came here at best its a $200 hotel but they gouged me for $550 . Thank god its for work as I would not have stayed in Banff.
.
This place needs a serious update. The staff, overall, tried to make us happy. The guy at check-in was rude. This would be the last place I would stay if I went back.
The hotel was less than a 10 minute walk to the Downtown Banff. The front desk staff was friendly. The hotel needs renovation. The loft rooms are unique and spacious; however, the bedroom is in the loft and you have to walk down a spiral staircase to go to the bathroom.
The room was clean, spacious and quiet. I had a comfortable stay here!
The loft bedroom was charming. Easy walking distance from downtown restaurants and shops. Staff was friendly and helpful, although we did not need much assistance.
Banff is a hot bed of tourist activity so it was nice to be a little bit out of town but still within walking distant. The hotel itself was nice, but main bedroom was tight, with bed practically against the wall and no bed table in one side. Kitchenette was great and thank goodness for the spare bedroom with twin beds to store our luggage and have a place to sit. So we made it comfortable, but it was a bit awkward. The pool and hot tub were both fantastic! Pool just right temp and hot tub was at 104 and spacious. The best part was the pool and
Not at all what we expected..
We arrived late after a long journey, and got there a short while before reception closed for the night. We had 2, 30kg suitcases and no assistance available and the lift wss out of service, which they said happened a lot. Its probably amongst the most basic in Banff.

Nice place.
