Broken toilet seat was not changed during my entire stay though l reported on day one. It’s crazy to charge $40 for transportation to the airport. It should be free and complimentary. Compound was clean, staff very friendly and respectful, good ambiance and neat pool.

I had a restful stay at the Charleston Hotel. The staff is polite, welcoming and helpful. The cleaning ladies are all friendly and always ready to help. The only thing I was disappointed with is the fridge malfunctioning for a day and half, spoiling half of my goods. I would still stay there next time as one incident should not determine how the next stay will be like. Thanks again for having me :)

Quiet location at the Charleston Hotel 🏨

The Charleston Hotel in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭🌍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This review is a little late we stayed at the Charleston Hotel 🏨 from November 23rd through the 25th of 2023. This is a nice quiet hotel in a good quiet neighborhood to the west of the city. The bed in the room was very comfortable 👍 The bathroom was clean and in very good order. During our stay we stayed in three different hotels for 16 days total. To be truthfully honest. This hotel I probably wish I could have stayed the whole time that I was in Ghana 🇬🇭🌍. The staff is very friendly and focused. The area is clean and well kept. I felt safe and secure at this location. This is definitely one of my future hotels I will be revisiting next year.

This was my absolute worst experience at a hotel! When I left my room for breakfast the very first night we stayed at the hotel, the hotel cleaning staff member stole $100 from my purse. When I returned to my room, the $100 was missing! After reporting it to management, they did nothing about it, but continually ignored us and our inquiries. The next morning, we could hear the hotel staff member who stole the money from my purse, talking negatively about us right outside our rooms with no consequences for the theft! There were bed bugs in our bed so we suffered bites and burns all throughout the night from the bed bug bites. When my spouse pulled the mattress back, he saw numerous bed bugs and their eggs. There were tons of mosquitos in our rooms each night due to the hotel keeping a door open in the common area near our room. We never sleeper each night due to continuous itching and bed bugs and mosquitoes, we had to repeatedly complain to the manager and multiple staff who lied about being the manager in order to cancel our stay there after three horrible days of torture. Worst experience ever. We will never go back again.

Very comfortable bed, crisp clean linens, big bathmat, clean fresh smelling bath towels and a hand towel. Working fridge. However the wall had a glassblock square the size of a window, facing the bed. In the hall outside this glassblock window a ceiling light burned all night. Right in the eyes of someone lying on the bed. Very annoying. Also the toilet seat was not bolted to the commode, which was occasion for quite a surprise, and the hand held shower wall holder was broken. Breakfast is OK, but some fresh fruit or juice would be nice. But staff are helpful and friendly, and the price is right. For 1 night, it is pleasant. The bed with excellent back support and clean bedding is the main attraction. The room was clean, clean floors, clean fridge, clean sink and shower. But the window coverings were a bit dusty. The restaurant menu was large, and the food we ordered was good, with large portions. But my noodles with chicken and vegetables had to be ordered twice, as they sent it spiked with red pepper, even tough I told the waiter NO PEPPER of any kind. The second no pepper order came out quickly and was very tasty, fresh and well cooked, no raw chicken and the vegetables were al dente, as was the pasta. It is the infrastructure that made me downgrade. This is not the first time I have stayed here, on the way from airport to home in Cape Coast. I will stay here again. The price was right.

Never staying in a hotel in Ghana, this one was perfectly located for what I wanted and the staff was friendly and helpful. Having the dining room was a huge, because finding restaurants in Ghana is not like finding them in some countries. It is also located in a nice neighbor where I felt safe to walk.

The property is accurately pictured when it comes to the building and public spaces. The receptionist was cordial during check in. There is no elevator but someone did bring my suitcase up to the third floor. There is no air conditioning in the hallways but you have it in your room activated by hotel key. Continental breakfast was available: pineapple juice, coffee, white bread slices, boiled eggs and sausage/hotdog. I was unable to secure bottled water while at the property. No after hours services are available. The hotel room was clean. A great plus was the power strip in the room that provided an outlet for all plug variations.

Welcoming and helpful staff

Charleston Hotel staff made me feel welcome, amid their busy week of conferences and a full-house of guests. All staff were attentive to serving food and drink soon after sitting down at a table by the pool, bar and restaurant. It is a pity that they did not have the ingredients to all menu items at first but they accommodated my repeated request and eventually bought in the ingredients and drinks to make me a happy customer. Given my busy work schedule, where I wanted home comforts at the end of the day, this gesture was most appreciated. All guests are given wifi access for two devices (to maintain good bandwidth for all guests to use) but travellers who come with laptop, 2 mobile phones and a tablet can simply ask to increase this restriction to however many devices they need to connect to the wifi. Don't feel afraid to ask; the hotel will accommodate your needs. Charleston hotel is well presented and feels like an oasis amide a quiet residential area. It is also within easy access to the centre of Accra (access to Uber taxis will greatly facilitate your travel needs). My favourite thing to do after a day of work was take a dip in the pool (even after sunset), shower and then sit on the balcony areas working through emails, where I experienced a nice evening breeze. The reception and management staff were friendly and did their utmost to make me feel happy. I would not hesitate in choosing this hotel again on my next visit to Accra.

Nice hotel near the airport

The facilities are very nice, the rooms, grounds, and pool. The staff on the other hand were terrible; they lied about the transportation to and from the airport; they lied about the fact they sent someone to pick me up, after waiting in the hot sun for about 15 minutes in the hot sun I took a taxi. The restaurant food was very mediocre. They said they took American Express but the front desk clerk did not know how to run it,

Clean sheets and towels, extra pillows on request

The outside appearance of the hotel is pleasing, with tall columns clad in flat stone rectangles in sandy colors. The same stone is used as an accent inside as well. The pool area is nice for dining at night or having drinks. The restaurant gets it right when I ask for something to be made with No Pepper and Not Spicey. The food is good, the chicken and beef kebobs with a honey marinade are really good, tender and well grilled with pieces of onion and green pepper on the skewers. The room is clean and everything works. This includes bedside reading lights, which is amazing to me as many hotels have lamps by the bed, with no outlet or the plug does not fit the socket or the bulb is burnt out. This hotel is managed by people who understand the idea of reading in bed! The breakfast buffet (included) is good, with fresh toast, eggs, coffee, Milo, tea, juices, fresh fruit, dry cereals, porridge, and you serve yourself. This is the 3rd time I have stayed here, and I will probably stay here again. The staff in the dining room at night are a bit slow, but everyone is friendly. The front desk staff are efficient and pleasant. I like this hotel.

Comfortable hotel, outside the centre

The hotel is kept very clean and the staff are particularly helpful. I was allowed to check out late (due to a delayed flight) and the staff accommodated my need to interview a colleague in a quiet space, prepared a papaya that I brought back after a day out in the city and even prepared breakfast for me when I arrived late. The restaurant is good, without being exceptional, and the service was very courteous and professional.

Lovely quiet hotel.

After a week in the North of Ghana without hot water or a working shower, this hotel was just what i needed. The room was large, the bed comfortable, the bathroom immaculate and the hotel itself was clean and well run. The wifi throughout the hotel was excellent and the pool was lovely on a hot humid day. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was amazing, they will cook whatever you want! The only negative point was that the pick up service failed to appear at the airport despite emailing and phoning prior to arrival, however, one quick call to the hotel and the van was there in 20mins - and the driver was incredible, every shortcut - he knew it!

The hotel is not where you might expect to find it. It is the middle of a residential area and very quiet. It has a small dinning room, a lounge and a nice pool area. The Best Kept Secret In Ghana

I found this hotel on the internet and it was even better than the great reviews I read. The owners (Charles and Juliana) are prompt and personal is the top priority is customer satisfaction. The entire staff is pleasant and most accomodating. The made to order meal I had was heavenly. Although I was in Ghana for business but mostly pleasure my host was sponsoring my hotel cost in suburb of Accra. So I checked out of Charleston went to the other hotel and refuse to stay because of the poor condition. I called back to Charleston without hesitation Beatrice told me she my room was waiting my return. Moreover since I had to incur additional expenses for my two weeks stay, the management at Charleston simply made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I highly recommend this place because you will get good value for your money

Good Accra hotel for reasonable price

Very good value. Clean linens, attentive staff, AC worked, no holes in the ceiling or walls, fridge worked, TV worked. Good restaurant, extensive menu, food tasty and well priced. Only physical issues in the room were a phone wire hanging out of the wall, and the bedside lamps consisted of a bare bulb attached to the wall, and only 1 of those worked. Infrastructure is often a problem in hotels in Ghana, so these 2 small strange defects were tiny. I am more impressed by the clean crisp sheets and nice duvet on the bed, the clean shower stall with a glass door, clean towels. I asked for another pillow and towel, and they were brought immediately. I will stay here again.

It was my first time staying at the Charleston , and I must say it exceeded all my expectations . The condition of the hotel is excellent, room was fresh and extremely clean , and the staff were very friendly and helpful , as was the owner whom I met. My only small gripe was that the room had a kettle , but no teacup or tea bag . Complimentary water was appreciated. Bar facilities good and breakfast room quaint but cosy. Hotel is in the suburbs so very quiet surroundings . Charleston Hotel will be my place to stay in Accra .

Great and peaceful home away from home

I spent a week in this hotel. I loved the location for its peaceful/serene atmosphere. The room was very comfortable, and was cleaned daily. The equipment all worked. The one time power was interrupted the generator was put into action within minutes. So I was able to relax in the air conditioned comfort. Don't remember seeing or hearing any Mosquitos, which was great even though I had a ground floor room. The staff were very helpful, and very accommodating with regard to coming to breakfast late, or helping to get me my favorite dishes at dinner. The red snapper and tilapia dishes were the best, especially with the side dish of kelewele (fried plantain). Both Julie and Charles, the couple that owns the place, were extremely pleasant and took an interest to engage, despite their busy schedule. I would not hesitate to stay there again on my next trip to Accra should I need to camp in a hotel. Lovely, peaceful and clean facilities.

A Quiet Ghanaian Hotel

This is a nice quiet, privately (Ghanaian) owned hotel in a residential area and an arrangement with a neighbouring sports centre is useful. Unfortunately, there are no other amenities nearby, so a taxi is needed to get anywhere for shopping, sightseeing, etc. The staff are very friendly and reasonably efficient. However, there were some Ghanaian features in our basic double room, e.g. a kettle in the room, but no cups, etc.; an awkward toilet door; only 1 bedside table; and public areas are rather small. On the food side, a cold starter came HOT; but burgers came COLD; but it was generally tasty.

5 ***** Stars!!

The Charleston hotel is not a very big hotel in terms of the amount of hotel rooms as in most establishments. However, it is big, and enormous in many other ways. Let me start with the owners and staff. I was greeted with a very warm reception that lasted my entire visit. All of the staff was first rate in their individual areas. The front desk receptionists, restaurant attendees, housekeeping and the owners Juliana and Charles were awesome! I must say that the owners truly rolled out the red carpet for me and each of their guest. Making it their business everyone personally feel at home. If you need help with getting around Accra, taking tours, finding directions and the exchange of currency, they are there to help! Located ten - fifteen minutes from the airport and close to most of the city attractions; made traveling convenient within reason. Let me add that the hotel is clean and secure which made resting nightly easy. I tip my hat off to the cook who prepared each meal with special care and the maintenance staff who kept the hotel running as should when the lights or the water went off. The Charleston Hotel holds its own as an extravagant place to stay. I would stay there again and most definitely recommend it to my family and friends. Best wishes & great blessings to Juliana and Charles for operating one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. You and your staff did an outstanding job that exceeded beyond my expectations.

Prima hotel, zwembad is klein.

Prima hotel. Aan de balie werd onderhandeld over de prijs van de kamers. Dit is niet mogelijk als je via Expedia boekt. Volgens mij hotel nooit volgeboekt behalve rond de kersttijd. Ontbijt is sober.
