This hotel was great for the price you pay. Is undergoing a renovation which I believe will make it even better. They don’t supply things like shower caps, cotton buds etc and you have to ask which was a little frustrating. Breakfast wasn’t the best we’ve had in our travels in Thailand but location is magnificent. 10 mins from nightmarket and bars and restaurants on your doorstop. Beds comfy, we got an ocean view room. Great value.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, smooth check in, clean room.

Great location. Breakfast buffet was good with great service. Did not clean the room the last two days of being there. Had to get our own clean towels and toilet paper. Pool and Bar attendant s were good but sat and smoked pot all day. Pool area could have a little more attention as cleanup was seldom done. Early morning front desk personnel did not know how to use the credit card machine. In spite of this we enjoyed our stay on Ko Samui.

Friendly, Comfortable Beach-Side Hotel

This is a little gem within walking distance, but on the quieter side, of all Chaweng's amenities and Central Mall. The staff are lovely, the hotel is clean and it is extremely friendly. The staff cannot do enough to help. I want to give particular mention to servers Pan, Gaye, Bee, Mau Thai and Palm. I should name receptionists and our room attendant too, except that we did not get their names. I stayed here in April and loved it, so returned for a holiday with my wife who loved it too. The hotel was being painted and so we were given a 500 Baht per day credit to use against F&B in the hotel, which was very generous. We will certainly return.

Resort is in a great location. Staff are very pleasant.. especially the cleaning staff! So lovely and greet you with the biggest smile! If I return to Samui I would stay here again. The breakfast buffet was great!

It was good for the price and the staff were good with a special mention to the housekeeping ladies who did a good job. Breakfast was ok not a great variety. Pool small and basic gardens well looked after.

We stayed 5 nights at the Chaba Samui and are delighted to report that all our needs were met. Especially attractive were the beachside and pool access, and the food and drinks at the outside bar. Our room was very comfortable.

Ko samui

The manager is most of there problem. Are friend asked to upgrade to ocean side building and he said there was no room and place was half empty and told him he didn't need his money. They give two small bottles of water a day and charge you for ice if you want any. They charge more at the pool bar than on the beach for beer no breaks for people sraying there.Beds are harder than you can believe

Second stay at Chaba samui

This is my second time staying here after a long 7 years. The new renovated room is fantastic. Service staffs are excellent and also help me get the local Kalamae snack which I have a hard time finding.

The location is good, however when booking the room, it's not clear that the "lake view" rooms are across the street and the windows don't open. We had a serious allergy reaction to something in the room. The hotel is smelly (sewage back up maybe) and stuffy. We asked to be moved to one of the rooms on the beach side of the street and the staff requested additional payments to make up for the higher price of the room on the beach side. After a couple days and declining health, they gave us a discount to change the room. I wish I did not have a non refundable room rate. Next time I book a room, it will be for one night only. There are many options in Koh Samui and it's better to see the place prior to commit for several days. The breakfast is not that great, the beach gets a lot of trash from the sea, the rooms are big, the restaurant staff were pleasant, but management needs to do a better job in making the guests happy,

Well run hotel

Stayed at the Chaba for 10 days. Found everything good, room spacious everything worked and looked new, cleaned as soon as sign went up and cleaned well.Staff are the best go out of there way to help. Breakfast good plenty to choose. 2 pools well looked after with spa. Beach bar with happy hour twice a day and do a great latte at the beach. Great situation within walking distance of everything and some realy nice restaurants around there. Great value for money and would stay there again loved it.

This hotel has improved many areas.

The hotel has done a number of improvements since we stayed previously, but some areas are still untidy, very dated and the beds have only had mattresses replaced. These were very hard to sleep on for us even though we asked for and got a topper, but not a lot better. The pillows were also very hard on the head and neck. We also had them changed with partial improvement. Other parts of the rooms have been updated very cheaply and quite poor quality materials which will wear quickly. The bathroom has had the tub removed and a large shower in place, but there is very little room for one let alone two people in the same room. The garden area is now lush and green, very nice. The pool has a swim up bar but is not used. The bar being used is tired even though extended and tidied up partly. Most of the umbrellas are old and stained, some with metal sticking out and could be dangerous if caught in the wind. The reception area is extremely dated and uninviting when first arriving. This area could be much brighter and inviting for loungeing or reading on wet days. The staff try very hard to please and mostly succeed. Some days the toiletries were not replenished every day and not to choose from. In regard to the breakfast area, the range is basic and needs a huge change to keep interesting and tasty. The pots of coffee should go down the drain as the taste and strength is horrid. However, most of the food is reasonable and ok, but boring.

Good Choice at Best part of Chaweng Beach

The Chaba was a good choice for us, as we were looking for a reasonable value hotel at the best part of the beach, but still close to the action of the main street. Chaba ticks the boxes. The rooms (and we were on the Ocean side which is the preferable part of Chaba) have been renovated and in really good condition. Breakfast was fairly average. The bacon was always cold! On our first night, we were told that they were unable to accomodate us as there were problems with air conditioning, and didn't have a room available, and offered to put us into their other Chaba hotel. This one was very old, and old rooms, and not at the best part of the beach and quite a long way from the main area of restaurants etc, so we were glad to only be there one night. They gave us a free dinner at the hotel in recompense - which was an excellent meal. Although we weren't overly happy about not having a room, we were there for 8 nights, so wasn't so bad, and the dinner made up for it.

Great location very central and fantastic safe beach

Outside doesn’t look so special but rooms were lovely and pool area was comfortable. Stayed in the ocean view building which doesn’t actually have an ocean view but was nice regardless.

Great hotel and location

We stayed in the sunrise suite in the new ocean wing it is very impressive! Massive living room And bedroom With a large balcony area. Ask for suite on floor 3 or 4! Only 3 suites in the whole hotel with sea and pool views.defo recommend it! Food was amazing too breakie was good overall we had an amazing stay for my husbands 40th

Great Stay

This was our 2nd trip to Koh Samui and staying at Chaba Samui Resort. The resort has been renovated, and the new rooms are great, heaps of room, great storage, good showers. The pool area and beach front are great as well, such a good location, great beach for walking and swimming, plus water sports. Very shallow for a long way out. Staff alway friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfasts.

Dissapointed

We booked 10 days here and booked the ocean wing and it was a real bummer. The first room we were given on the ground level was far to noisy from all the street noise. The staff agreed to move us however they had nothing available for another two nights i really wish we just asked for a refund and booked somewhere else then. On a positive note the hotel staff (excluding one) are friendly and the room was always cleaned promptly. The beach is also quite nice connected to the hotel but it ends there. Unfortunately the weather was a bit wet we spent a bit of time in our room and WiFi doesn't work in the rooms, when there was rain the tv channels stopped working. The breakfast is pretty average and the same everyday by the 5th day we stopped eating there even though we pre paid and paid to eat elsewhere. The bed is uncomfortable. However the most disappointing thing was the treatment of the in house booking agent who we hired a scooter off and being ripped off. We have hired scooters many times from hotels whilst in Thailand and never have we come across someone this rude and conniving. Not only were we ripped off when we returned our scooter for a day over half full of petrol and had it returned to us with barely enough to get to the petrol station we had a massive argument when it was de-hired. Apparently it was returned 3 hours late and she insisted we pay for another full day if hire to which we argued as we did not receive any paperwork that said it needed to be back by

OK place

The place is OK. For the price I paid it's fine. Service was a bit slow towards the end. We asked to arrange service to the airport at 2pm and they said it has to be earlier as the service will be used to pick up another customer which is fine. We asked if we can take local taxi instead and it took them about 15-20mins to provide an answer. Other than that, the place itself if OK.

Recommend Ocean View Building

We stayed in a deluxe Ocean View building room. From what I heard this building is much nicer than the Lake View building. Do not however be surprised when your room in the Ocean View building does not actually have an ocean view. Only the most expensive suites have a view of the ocean. Other rooms have a view of the garden. Which, at least, is nice and well kept. The room was exactly as in the pictures and was very comfortable and obviously newly renovated. Also, the hotel location is fantastic. It is just south of some of the louder and busier bars so it is quieter. Also, the beachfront is the most beautiful in all of Chaweng. The hotel provides beach chairs and umbrellas which is really nice. We would definitely recommend Chaba Samui. Our only complaint was that the staff was not proficient in English so they were not able to make any local recommendations. Also, basic communication about the room was difficult at times. That said, they were always nice and helpful and accommodated a late checkout for us as well as help in arranging transport to the airport. TIP: if renting motor bikes on Koh Samui, have the hotel help you arrange this. Their prices are comparable to other renters and they do not require you to leave your passport with them (something independent renters will require of you.)

Old hotel but some good points

Arrived at the hotel at 9.30 but had to wait to 12 to check in (no real issue), but was then given a twin room with no bath when a double was booked and had to wait again till 2pm. Main hotel is very dated, pool is terrible and probably unused. Accross the road is the beach front part - its a must to stay on that side. The rooms have been renovated, many rooms have no bath so you will have to request on booking if you want one. Rooms are pretty decent and tv also has a number of English channels. Pool for the beach side hotel is pretty good ang has its own bar and beach front - definately a major plus and the best element of the hotel. Not sure about recommendation as there may be other newer and more luxurious hotels on the beach front at the same price.

Nice hotel in main area of chaweng beach

Stay in the ocean side portion of the hotel, way nicer and newer rooms. Its right on the beach, the continental breakfast was good, eggs cooked to order, pancakes, fruit, toast, bacon, yogurt and cereals. The wifi is a little slow. The sand and beach was lovely, really soft, tons of great restaurants right close by, only 5 min walk to a large mall with burger king, McDonald's and subway on the way if your tired of thai food. We'd definitely stay there again if we went back to koh samui.

Would not recommend

No wifi in my room so I had to sit outside in a common area, the hotel is actually in two buildings so if you aren't in the ocean side you need to walk across a busy street to even get to the pool shown in the photos. The hotel is on a Main Street but from 10 am till 8 pm you can hear an announcement on constant repeat about an upcoming Muay Thai fight that drove me crazy. And during my entire stay (3 days) there were the same dishes in the hall down from my room. The room did seem clean and the door staff were friendly.

Miserable Room

I did not believe that you would actual ask me about my stay in this rotten place, after spending only 1 hr there and told the staff i am not going to stay in this place i was told i can go somewhere else if i don't like it, witch i did at 10pm. Also my Husband made the booking for me spoke to someone in your Office by the name of Arc to complain and he is a liar don't ever took to this guy. If anyone should read this avoid this place and the most rudest staff i ever encountered, by the way i went to the hotel next door and it was not only cheaper, but also very friendly. I will never book with you again

Great Hotel. Tad expensive.

Stayed in Chaba in March few 4 nights. Stayed on the beach side (highly recommended as lake side is on the other side of the road). The rooms were very nice and very clean. The staff are very friendly. The Breakfast is outstanding. The Location on the beach is perfect. It is a tad expensive compared to other hotels nearby. Also there was a lot of German people "reserving" sunbeds first thing in the morning to very hard to get one of those.

If you want location then this is the place to stay....undoubtedly the best along cheweng beach....I found the staff that looked after me were excellent, there wasn't nothing they wouldn't do for me...my room was clean on a daily basis even thou I asked them not to...( I wanted to give them a day off ) the only real thing I could fault would be the fact that Chaba resort is fairly dated..... Meaning it does need renovating, new shower heads, maybe new furniture, a coat of paint, just things like that, the small things that can make a difference....other than that I enjoyed my fourteen day stay....

Best location

Value for money, location, safe, good breakfast, it is tired however i keep staying here. 26th trip to samui, 7th time i have stayed here. I had a problem with a flat battery for the in room safe and i rang them and they fixed it immediately. The water didnt drain in the bathroom and they came and fixed it immediately. i will be back in six months and i will stay here again.

Get what you pay for, but great location!!

Me and my partner stayed here for 14 nights and over all it was a great holiday. The hotel was a perfect location. As you walk out the front your straight on the main strip! At first we weren't very impressed with the hotel, but it got better with time! We spent most of our time at the beach front and the pool staff are mostly in the younger generation and we're very rude and tried to be intimidating towards you as we couldn't speak their language. Apart from that the rest of the other staff were helpful as much as they could be, I just wish at least one of them spoke fluent English to help English customers that visit.

Cleanliness of room not good

I had no hot water in my room, insects in the draws,there is 2 parts to the hotel so I had to walk across the main rd to get to breakfast and the beach and pool, not an enjoyable stay, staff where nice though.

Rude Manager and Staff at the Reception

The staff was really rude. When we needed help for someone to speak in Thai to the transport company, the reception was rather reluctant to help. After he spoke to the transport company, he just pushed the phone to me saying that I did not have a booking. Instead, he should ask whether I have a booking which was what the other hotel did. Instead, his manager defended him very rudely. The manager is Sakol. He behaved like he is in our government department, not in the hospitality business. He behaved like he is the manager of the guests! We are his subordinates! His staff, Chalee, was emboldened by his manager to be equally rude. They did not have the friendliness of the Thai people.

the hotel room safe is not the best place to leave your valuables Koh Samui is now very corrupt another couple left money in there safe the door was opened when they returned to the room $500 AUST was taken on reporting this to the manager they were advised if they called the police and caused trouble he would cause them a lot of trouble this was stated in a threatening manner so beware your safe in the room is not SAFE

Right on the beach, pick the ocean view rooms. Staff very friendly and any problems sorted out very easily. Hotel needs a bit of TLC , but worth the money.

Just perfect!

Fab location, set on beach, wonderful pool area, great bar and bar food. Breakfast really good. Staff genuinely friendly and interested. Yes rooms are a little tired, but we had connecting twin & double room for our family - showers powerful, beds comfortable, room clean, balconies great, and mini bars - what more do you need? We came here after staying for 3 days each in 2 other 5 star hotels at opposite ends of island, their rooms were bigger, furnishings and facilities more modern, and more of them - but the Chaba beat them for the gorgeous beach it's set on with crystal clear water, the friendly staff and the . loved this hotel and would recommend.

Pics of pool n beach are of the Ocean side bldg - which is just across the street no big deal but service for drinks is hard to come by for some reason n swim up bar was closed.room is just basic but you are on the chaweng walking strip so is good location if u wanna keep it cheap n not expecting anything fancy or wow service. good 4 the price

Great hotel - close to the action

We enjoyed our stay at Chaba Samui Resort. They assisted us with an early check in, even though check was only at 14:00. The customer service was great, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning, it kept us full right up until supper time. Overall the stay was great and we enjoyed the fact that Chaba Samui was within walking distances of all the restaurants, clubs and pubs.

Split site hotel. Beach or lake view

Lake view room do not have balconies. The view is mostly of the busy main road. Room was a little tired, but comfortable. Drinks are cheaper in lake side than the beach side. No idea why? Staff are helpful once you understand the ways of the hotel. Good location and handy for exploring

Great location on Chaweng beach

This is an excellent location with a busy night scene and serene beach front.

Although about 25 years old, the hotel is very well maintained and is very well managed. Obviously a very experienced crew at all levels. Nothing to look at but nothing was overlooked. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Very happy with everything about this hotel - very good value for money. Location is the best with beautiful beachfront. I stayed at Chaweng Regent Hotel 2 years ago and whilst that was a very good hotel the beach is nowhere near as good as it is much shallower and rocky. The staff were all friendly and helpful keeping in mind there is a language barrier. The shower pressure and temperature were great which can be a problem at some other hotels I have stayed in Thailand. I could not fault this hotel in any way.

Good for couples or family,away from busy area...

Nice location, away from the noise of main town but close enough to walk to if required. Right on the beach but with nice pool too... The young staff at breakfast were very good. We would stay here again...

Just OK

Nothing great, just OK. Room was worn out but bed was OK. Bathroom was quite small and water from shower flooded most of it. Internet worked OK. Location was on the edge of the busy section and variety of restaurants and shops very close. Pool was just OK. Cahweng beach was nice but sea lice (Oct.) made it uncomfortable at times. Biggest downside was that on Fri/Sat/Sun nights until about 3am Reggae Bar across the small bay was BLASTING music straight out to the masses and hotel is directly across from it.

Good location, but a bit dated

Good location and clean, but hotel is very dated. Paid extra for an ocean room, but it wasn't much different to the others. It is right on chaweng beach so convenient to get places, but rooms aren't anything special.

Air-conditioning went out which lead to sleepless

Nice location and it is really a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for. The hotel speaks no English and the air conditioning barely kept the room under 85 degrees even at night.

great location but in need of updating

on arrival at this hotel the room was dirty, the rooms either side of us had very noisy austrailian lads in it which we complained about and the hotel manager sorted for us , he also offed us to move to there sister hotel which is 5 star, thats how bad it was , but we stuck it out and all was well in the end, they just need a little more attention to detail and this would be a really nice hotel, after saying that it would stop me staying there again as the location was perfect, just clean you act uo chaba hotel before you get the knick name chabby

Suitable

Chaba Samui was as per other reviewers have previously listed. Its a nice hotel with comfortable surroundings. Our only issues was that the shower drain kept blocking and flooding the bathroom floor. We complained once but nothing seemed to of been done about it. The mould in the grout in the bathroom was a bit off putting also. The location is ideal. Only 5 minutes walking distance along beach or street to the main happening places in either direction from hotel. Staff were pleasant and helpful when needed. Only disappointment that the beach bar didnt stock Tiger beer and was not open at night. Had to go elsewhere to party at night where many others hotels extended their bars and restaurants down to the beach at night. The buffet breakfast was suitable and catered for most apetites. As most things are closed in the morning until around 10.00am, if your looking for an early brekky somewhere else, you may not find it, so with the buffet open at 6.30am it is more convenient to dine there and then go back to bed if you choose. Overall, a pleasant and comfortable stay with only a few little issues.

Chaba Samui

Very helpful and friendly staff, but getting pretty run-down. We stayed here for just one night, because we wanted a somewhat cheap place that was not too far from the airport. Our flight was overnight, so we were very tired when we arrived and we thought this would be a necessity. Probably would have been better off moving on to our final destination straight off the bat though. I will say they let us check in extremely early (around 9:00AM) which was nice, but there are certainly better places you could stay for the same price.
