Loved it!! Prime location, luxurious room, friendly staff, and they spoke English, which was a plus. Got newspaper delivered to our door every morning. If you like Xiao Long Bao or crabs, be sure to try their restaurant on the 2nd floor.

I will choose this hotel for my next trip to Shanghai

Our stay was comfortable. Check in was very smooth and we were asked if we wanted an upgrade to Executive Room,breakfast inclusive for a very good price. We loved the services provided by the hotel. There was also a 200RMB coupon for massages given. There was a complimentary plate of fruits provided for us. The location was very central so the attraction(s) was with in walking distance. We hope to stay here again when we plan our next Shanghai trip.

Excellent location, can't ask for a better location in Shanghai. Room is comfortable, food in the restaurant is great, but a bit pricy. However, you can always find other great choices on the street, as there are plenty of great restaurants nearby.

Room is nice and clean. Laundry service is excellent. Hotel breakfast has many choices. Shopping mall is near by.

Location is very good. The hotel is a little bit old and need renovation, but it's clean. The only thing I don't like is check out take very long time. Overall it is a good hotel.

Perfect location for walking to the Bund for night life, shopping on Nanjing Road (main shopping malls in Shanghai), or Huanghe Road for local dining (for fresh made to serve Xiaolongbao). If you are an early bird, try to get to the Bund at 6am and you will see locals with dragon dancing, they are super friendly if you would like to try!

This place is near to metro line, shopping street and eating restaurants. The hotel is clean. The cleaner cleans until the floor are very shining. Fast service whenever you ask for help. Only thing Im not happy is that we have to pay rmb 1k deposit. We need to swap the credit card rmb1k on top of the room rate during check in. This is the hotel policy that we cant change.

The best location staying in Shanghai. One minute walk to Nanjing road. Highly recommend to everyone.

A very comfortable 4-star hotel with very good amenities, helpful staff and excellent location. After a long flight from Paris, it was heavenly to enter a clean and pleasant room and to be able to shower, put on one of the robes provided by the hotel and to order room service. Most certainly recommended

The property is very old, the elevators are not cleaned well and show a lot of wear and tear. The rooms are good, nice corner high floor room. They did not give any special consideration to VIP Access even just early check-in just 30mins before 3pm.

Location is great. I didn't like the sound that was coming into my room when I open the windows. There was some ventilation system that is running all the time.

I liked the facilities and the design of the property. However, the price for washing clothes is a little overboard.

Everything was good ,but i couldn't connect my computer to their network ,they sent someone to help but he couldn't connect it to their net work . Breakfast needs more fruit variety specially during summer .Watermelon ,honeydew ,pineapple

12pm check-in - yeah right!!!

Our check-in experience was really poor. Part of the reason we booked this hotel was the 12pm check-in (as we were arriving on a flight at 5am). When we got to the hotel to drop our bags at 7am we were told then that check-in was at 12pm (as expected). We went out and came back at 12pm only to be told that we wouldn’t be able to check in until 2pm. The explanation given was that others had checked out late (but actually check out time is 12pm). It was really poorly managed and the wifi was so terrible. The room was very comfortable and the price was good.

Two critical drawbacks are: 1) You need to pay additional $500 CNY deposit to check in even you already paid and confirmed. 2) The additional charges were also surprised to me; such as a small bag of peanuts for 20 CNY and play table tennis paddle for 60 CYN. Those little annoying business brought down their hard working staffers. We do appreciate their staffs’ kind service.

VIP service

Minutes to S. Nanjing Rd, 10 mins walk to the closest metro station, 15 min walk to the Bund, same to People's park. Clean comfortable room, great staff.

Our family booked 2 rooms. Staff was kind to have rooms next to each other. Clean, lovely rooms. Comfortable beds and bedding. Helpful in arranging transport to airport. Excellent location. Would stay there again.

Great location to MRT, main tourist shopping places and people's park. Staff are friendly and efficient. Room is spacious and clean but it is slightly outdated. It is valued for money given the location. Food price in CBD does cost a lot more than the suburb but it is beautiful at night for a stroll to the Bund.

They want to charge extra day for early check in and the room was empty and ready. Other than that. Location and clean was good.

Location is excellent, in walking distances to Nanjing Lu pedestrian street and the East Nanjing Lu subway station. Room was clean and the staff was super friendly. The only problem was the bath tub drain. It was clogged and still trained slowly even after service was called. Also, the bath tub was slippery. If you take a shower barefooted, the shower jell can easily make you slip and fall if you step outside of the anti slipping pad. So be warned (I know the is a sign)!

Excellent location , close to Metro line 1 and 2. If you don’t have heavy luggage you can take Metro from airport or Mag Lev and Metro for faster transportation. Excellent walking shopping and dining options all around

Service and food for breakfast need to improve. All the 5 days menus almost the same. No English tea? Service staff are short handed.

Amazing stay, it was my birthday in between as well and they surprised us with a cake. Clean and location was accessible to everywhere

The facility was convenient to shopping and sightseeing, especially the Bund. The staff was especially good.

Great 2 night stay

Great 2 night stay, rooms was clean and quiet, two convenient stores and subway nearby. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, bonus for the fresh fruits, but I do not recommend the bacon, it smelled bad and tasted bad.

The hotel is really out dated. Some staff are nice, some are really poor

The hotel was very well located, a few minutes walk from the subway station, Nanjing Road- East and to Nanjing Road shopping area. Close to lots of shopping, restaurants. The room was spacious and clean. Staff were nice and efficient.Breakfast was good. The only concern was the wifi was very slow. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

the place is close to the main attractions. also subway line2 is a block away from the hotel.

Everything is perfect, except the wifi, we did not have, or say lost wifi for the morning we will check out. Not sure why.

From Shanghai railway station, take Metro line 1 then transfer to line 2 stop at East Nanjing Road station, then choose exit 1 or 4. If you choose exit 1, turn to the right to the popular East Nanjing Rd and walk around 5 minutes. Then turn to the left then you can see the Central Hotel. The tourist attractions near the hotel are Yu Garden (line 10 stop at Yuyuan station), the Bund (line 2 stop at East Nanjing Rd station), Oriental Pearl tower (line 2 stop at Lujiazui station). The ticket to take Huangpu river cruise which is close to the Bund is CNY150/person for 45 minutes. Our room is big and clean. It has a bathtub and a shower separately. The staff is very helpful. You have to deposit CNY500 and it will be returned when you check-out.

Location is excellent for first time travelers or if you are only there for a short time. Easy walk to the Bund and main walking street. Property could use a little bit of an update as it feels a little tired. Otherwise everything was pretty clean and service was decent.

The hotel is a bit ageing but the quality is good. Right in the centre of shanghai and very close to nanjing road. We didnt realise subway station is only a short walk from the back door until the last day. Breakfast is acceptable. Chinese style and western style breakfast are available. Staff are friendly and willing to help even though their English is not great, but that is expected. In general this is a good hotel for its price.

Good stay

Had a good stay. Convenient location next to the subway. Room was warm and cosy, especially with the cold weather outside. An effort can me made on the quality of the TV.

Front desk was quick to response for a change of room due to noise arising from the strong wind in the room. Near dining and shopping. Walking distance to subway. Staff was also aware of the request for additional bed. Overall satisfied with the good service. However if the toilet would to improve with a separate shower cubicle would be ideal. The toilet looks dated.

Stay for 9 nights, location in L2 metro line is very easy to everywhere and direct to airport too. Some staff speech good English and clean ladies very polite. But need choose higher level room because building site nearby work at night.

I had very good time at this hotel , starting from the front desk and checking to the extremely helpful porters who find it strange to accept a tip for doing their job . The breakfast buffet was brilliant with endless varieties of authentic food. The location was perfect with walking steps to the Metro with direct access to the Airport and the other direction will take you the shopping area

Property in perfect location for East Nanjing Rd, Metro, Dining Etc.... the only Con was a charge for $9/key if you lose the room plastic card key. We left 3 keys in the room and the room service could not locate them and we had to go back to the room to find them. Very low customer service when they make you wait on checkout about 20 Minutes to resolve this issue for keys not worth more than $0.20 each! when we had 2 rooms and we stayed for 8 nights!

The location was very convenient to the metro, about 5 minutes. We can take the metro straight to the airport which is very convenient. There are several dining options close by.

Value for money near Nanjing Road

This hotel is quite affordable for the perfect location. Just a stone's throw away from Nanjing Road, Central Hotel is value for money. There are cheaper hotels around the area, but this has an Old Shanghai feel and good interior, linens are very white and room is very clean.

Clean and location was great.

Hotel is a bit old but location is good, just right next to Nanjing dong Lu and near to metro line 2.

We stayed for 5 nights. It was perfect. Everything was convenient location-wise. The hotel is well maintained and everything function well. The staff was great!

the place is super convinient ,it's pretty much in downtown , few minutes walk from shopping malls ,food street and the Shanghai harbor . However our room have a leaking sink ,water will gets everywhere and we didn't realize where the water coming from until next day .the staff there are super friendly though . It's not a bad spot ,but needs more improvement for sure .

Not expensive, very nice hotel and excellent location - close to the metro line 2 which travels between the two Shanghai airports, close to a big shopping street and in walking distance from fantastic view to the Shanghai skyline. I would book this hotel again and I recommended this hotel to my friends.

Central Hotel Shanghai is my best choice!

My first experience of staying at this hotel was in 2015. I stayed at this hotel several times in the following years. I like its location, caring staff, cleanliness in the rooms. Therefore, without hesitation, I chose this hotel.

It was a great hotel, with friendly staff and great concierge who helped out all the time with taxis translation etc The breakfast was good and location fabulous. Only down side was the shower but no big deal to be honest a walk in might be better.

My online impression of great facility, location, and price was confirmed when I ran into my best friend in China in the lobby. He says that he and his wife always stay there.
