The hotel was very nice and surprisingly quiet. Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was very good as well.

Hot as Hades!

It was really hot here. We woke up in the middle of the night and the room was 24 degrees (76F) and we couldn’t turn off the heat. Later it was 27 (80F), so we had to open a window. The heat affected our sleep.

Loved it! Staff were friendly and really helpful. Would recommend.

The hotel is located a good 15-20 min from Madrid city center and while it’s convenient to bus and rail it is far and traffic is tedious. The room was clean and staff was very attentive however the rooms do not have carpet which means you hear every single piece of luggage and furniture that is moved around. For that reason I deducted 2 stars. Also the AC is off in the entire building due to fall/ winter and that makes the rooms unbearably warm luckily you can open the window for air to come in.

Hotel Catalonia Del Retiro is a great place to stay while you visit Madrid. The front desk was phenomenal and we met people like Alvaro and Sarah who made our stay enjoyable and comfortable in every way, they gave us the extensions for the charging of all our devices and they also gave us lots of information about subway, subway station was like a two minute walk and eating area and a supermarket was maybe five minute walk, everything was so close to start with and the housekeeping was great too, nice clean warm bed every day when we came home and I like to thank you for that Miss Glenda and miss Isis and also thank you Alvaro and Sarah and I recommend this place for anybody who is in Madrid for a few days or longer.

Mirror

Disappointed. No mirrors in rooms which I find bizarrre in 2024 in a city like madrid. Only mirror is in bathroom so you cannot see your full body appearance… why I asked ?? They don’t know !!! Am I the only person who likes to see their whole body appearance not just my head . On another note front desk reception staff amazing. Extremely polite and helpful. Evening staff helped me with a little problem I had and were extremely helpful.

Nice hotel. It's clean, quiet, and has friendly staff. Although I never tried the breakfast, they do offer it. There is a mini supermarket in front of it, and a coffee and pastry shop next to it.

Front desk staff were very friendly. Our room was quiet, bedding is comfortable, shower was good. Only con is that we had three people in a three bed room, but we only got two cups of both types and one toothpaste and toothbrush set. Everything else was good.

My stay here was nothing short of superb. The room was extremely comfortable, clean and relaxing. The hotel has a very modern look with friendly staff in all departments all willing to assist in any ways they can. The included breakfast offers a wide selection for all. The close proximity to the metro system is very convenient and easy to use. I certainly enjoyed my stay here and would return to the brand given the opportunity. Proximity to food, grocery, pharmacy and more amenities make it convenient for all.

Hotel smells lovely, staff welcoming, opposite metro, carrefour, maccies, KFC, burgerking all within walking distance. Beautiful cafe next door latte and pastry €4. €33 standard fare to airport. Metro bought 1 card and 10 tickets for €8.50 and can b shared between 2 just need to swipe for each person close to centre

This was are very good selection. Very close to downtown, good connectivity, afordable, mostly great staff. Overall, very good benetifs/cost ratio. The sorrounding areas were not ideal. Very close to a busy road and a overpass and other buildings impacting.

The front desk was very helpful, treated me to free drinks for my birthday and a loaner converter so that I could plug in my son's night light

Stayed for one night. Room was clean and comfortable. It was quiet because the room window faced toward an inner courtyard (enclosed by the building). Maybe this is why the internet was slow. Location was fine - 4-5 streets from a metro station. Short walking distance to restaurants. I would stay again, and try the breakfast.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and liked it so much that we booked it again when we returned to Madrid for one night before flying home.

The hotel itself was fine however, it was distant from any good restaurants ( except fast food) As we arrived, the female clerk, apparently training another one, became visibly irritated and saying “The reservation is for Two” while referring to our 8 year old. AlthI was sure I made the reservation for two adults and a child, I explained to her my wife was to stay a night out of the three w a sibling anyways. Two days later I checked my reservation and indeed I had “2 adults and a child” still, it was a very unwelcoming attitude from that employee The surroundings of the hotel aren’t too attractive either..

A nice hotel that is walking distance from the Madrid south bus station. The breakfast provided a good range of options, including fresh orange juice and fruits. Located on a major street with a variety of shops, cafes. A bit of a walk to the nearest (Pacifico) Metro station, so that should be considered with regard to luggage.

An aura of imminent decline

Solid if a bit tired. Efficient check-in, clean room with clean sheets and hot water, good breakfast served until late but all felt a bit frayed, wanting for a bit of love around the edges.

Convenient and quiet

Hotel is only a block away from metro station and 2 metro stops from train station. Easy access to center via metro. Beds are comfy. Room nice and quiet. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. Lots of places to eat nearby and a supermarket across the street. The only complaint would be that the maid took one set of towels and didn't replace it and she didn't give us extra toilet paper when she cleaned our room. But we called reception to request and got right away. Everything else was great. Would stay again.

Hotel was clean, and close to the Metro station. The only downside was there wasn’t any tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

My stay at NH Madrid Sur was very pleasant. The staff at reception were very nice and accommodating - they even shared a few restaurants recommendations in Madrid. The hotel is not located in the best area of Madrid but the facilities were great, very clean and looking brand new. I would recommend.

Scammed

I wanted a smoking room which you advertise. There was none so was scammed. I was marketed to rent a car. The hotel charges extra €20 for 1 day parking

this is a very nice and clean hotel and looks modern too. The location is not bad at all. Metro station is only few mins from the hotel and you can go anywhere.

Ok hotel that seemed to be a little outdated. Amenities are not that great and room size is pretty small. I stayed in several hotels of same NH chain that were much prettier.

Couldn't hope to meet nicer people . A little away from centro but only ten minutes on metro which is fifty metres away. Normally reasonably priced but this was Champions league weekend, so no comment. They made this a very nice stay.

This is a very good hotel close to the art district - 10 mins by bus - and close to the mythical and friendly working class area of Vallecas. Your in an interesting point of Madrid and it’s genuine. The metro is 50 metres or so from the hotel. I’m a fan of the NH hotel chain: this is a decent one too.

Very nice hotel, but poor internet connection, very nice staff

The hotel is quite basic in amenities. The room was large enough for the type of hotel. Shower was OK, bed and pillows were comfortable (in my opinion). Pity breakfast wasn't to my taste (continental breakfast and cold meats). The one thing I would have liked was a coffee maker in the room, but there isn't one. Nothing to do with the hotel, but the area isn't great. You can get the metro very quickly into the city centre, but nothing much to see or do around the hotel.

Perfect for meeting friends driving in. Convenient to roads and Metro. Short metro ride to Plaza Major. Clean and quiet.

Quiet hotel even though it was near the street.

Lovely stay at this hotel. Fast check-in and check-out. We had reserved a standard double room but we got offered to upgrade to a superior for an extra 8 euro's per night (in which we got a super comfy and large bed and a coffee machine - which we used every day). The bathroom was very large and nice and we got warm and comfortable bathrobes. All in all, a very quiet hotel for its position near the street. To be fair we visited in April, so I don't know what it's like in full season. Regardless, we had a lovely stay. Would come again!

The hotel is Really good And it is good value for the money. The only aspect for improvement is to keep the entrance cleaner. The carpet And the surrounding area is dirty And gives a bad And an unfair bad sense.

I enjoyed my stay at the NH Madrid Sur, the staff were excellent at answering any questions but I do have some critiques to make. Getting the WiFi to work was an issue as the link provided didn't work, fortunately the gentleman at the from desk quickly showed me the workaround to access it. The advertised 24hr bar was just a giant vending machine in the lobby and the water pressure in my room was very low, otherwise I enjoyed my stay.

Basic, Affordable, Acceptable.

A basic hotel reasonably close to the city center. Breakfast was well done. Room was clean and comfortable. Very functional for a low cost option in Madrid.

Nice hotel near Metro

Comfortable rooms, convinient location near Metro grocery shopping, McDonald and Burger King. Many restaurants in the area. 15 minutes Metro ride to down town area. 2 minutes walk to Metro.

Easy access

the hotel is close to M-30 and M-40 as well as the Atocha railway station. with subway station nearby. Supermarket just in front the hotel.

Close to the Office

Hotel was ok and close to the office. I was disappointed to find out what they call gym is nothing else but 4 machines that are completely inadequate in some outside hallway. The thermostat were old and difficult to understand. I didn't feel any difference using it. The Internet was extremely slow compared to US standards. The breakfast was expensive for being average. I really do not understand the Spain hotels that do not have an iron board and iron per room. They expect the travelers to have their clothes out of their luggage pristine?

Ok hotel

The hotel needs some work. the wallpaper in the hallway is peeling. The room was clean but need a little work in the bathroom. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. it is an ok hotel for a few nights.

Central hotel good for holiday/city-break

The hotel is placed in a quiet and good neighborhood. Right opposite the hotel there is a Dia supermarket and the bus station in order to come/go to the Atocha railway station. Also, in order to arrive at the airport is easy to take the metro from Pacifico station, which is at a distance of 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The room was big, clean and very comfortable. The reception personnel was very friendly.

Good accessibility and comfort

Stayed three days, two nights to visit Parque Warner (Warner Bros. Theme Park, about 20 mins drive away) and Madrid. The hotel is right off the highway which was very convenient and though we didn't use the hotel parking (18 Euros per day) there's a public parking lot right beside it. There was also a boulangerie close by, if you need to pick up a snack, breakfast, an empanada for lunch, etc. We arrived at almost 2 am our first night but thankfully they had 24hr reception (check-in starts at 3pm). Our room was on the third floor and it was a Standard Room with two beds pushed together although we initially requested a Standard Room with a Double/Queen. Not an issue for us. The mattress was also on the firmer side. It was nice and cool in the room as someone prepared the air conditioner before our arrival. We drove in to the city centre from the hotel, and it was a good location to hit the Paseo del Prado or Atocha station as it was only 10 minutes down a main avenue. If you don't have a vehicle, there's a also a bus loop and a metro station close by which goes straight to Sol (Linea 1). Unfortunately, during the time of our stay, the metro was under construction and they had bus service for the interruption but we chose to walk 5-8 minutes uphill to Pacifico station to catch the circular line (Linea 6). The travel to Sol/Plaza Mayor with the metro changes was still about 20 mins so not so bad. Overall, a really well-placed hotel. I would stay here again!

Correct

Correct hotel, nothing out of this world, in a nice neighbourhood but right next to a more dodgy one (Puente de Vallecas) so watch out!

Best choice for peaceful family getaway

Very well connected with city centre (3.5km) and airport through metro. Both metro stations are located very close by. The hotel street offers everything with shops and supermarket. You will enjoy choices of food in breakfast with friendly staff.

HONESTY I NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS, BEING IN A HOTEL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER WITHOUT AC, I HAD TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER HOTEL , I INQUIRED ABOUT THE AC AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY TURN OFF TO SAVE ENERGY FROM 10 AM TO 1PM EVERY DAY , BUT THE REALITY IS THAT AT NIGHT ALSO THEY DO THAT , I SPEND THE NIGHT IN A SAUNA .

Great place to stay if going to be in Madguarantee

This hôtel is a bit far from the centre core of Madrid, but it is a quiet neiborhood and very close to the subway, about 200steps. The service is very professional and they speak very good English. The breakfast is excellent with a lot of varieties to choose from. Not expensive, about 10 euros. I would recommend this hôtel to anyone going to Madrid, you won't be sorry !

nH Hotels are fantastic!

Convenient location for the right price. Our room was small but perfect. I would absolutely stay here again. There were several restaurant options nearby. The front desk always gave good recommendations. We took the bus to the city center many times. Don't count on the bus schedule - they come and go on their own time.

Generelt fint opphold.

Fint hotell. Hyggelige ansatte. Vi hadde et familierom ut mot en bakgård. Helt stille og rolig. På fremsiden er det nok mer bråk fra trafikk. Veldig god frokost med mindre du kommer litt sent. Da var det meste tomt/tørt. Rommet var fint, men noe slitt. Sprekker og løs tapet noen steder. Vi våknet en dag med endel Faraomaur på gulvet, så pass på hva du får med i bagasjen hjem.

The room is different from the pictures. It was in a worst condition, like the wallpaper was falling off in a lot of places. The breakfast was very good

Excelente opción de alojamiento.La habitación doble cómoda y espaciosa, muy buen wifi para trabajar desde la habitación o áreas comunes del hotel y con un espacio de coworking también cerca. A metros de la estación del Metro con excelente ubicación cerca del centro de Madrid. Barrio tranquilo, con comercios y restaurantes cerca. El personal muy amable y profesional. Desayuno abundante, variado y fresco.

Se ofrece de 4 estrellas y no cumple para ello todo viejo mal cuidado. Muy sobre valorado.
