Great staff!! Very friendly and helpful
We did not want to leave. Beautiful property. Breathtaking views. Amazing restaurant. Clean room with all the bells and whistle. Two pools. Absolutely amazing.
Welcome to the island. It’s a magical and mystical place located on the top of a hill over-looking the pacific ocean. When you check-in, there’s no need to give your name. The reception desk knows you already and greets you with a welcome Mrs and Mr So-and-So. You silently think, “I didn’t give you out my name. How do you know who I am?” But that thought slips to the back of your consciousness when you realize that the lady at the reception desk is speaking German.
Very friendly and helpful staff. If you are looking for a quiet vacation with a great view of the ocean. Marco and his team runs this place in very friendly manner serving their customers. They have a small cafe and bar which serves great food as well.
Beautiful Views
Beautiful property overlooking the ocean! Matteo was super friendly and it was nice to just chat with him throughout the day and night. The outdoor shower was a pretty neat idea and some animal was throwing scraps of something in it in the morning which made us laugh! Comfortable bed and nice individual patios to the room. We would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful view, great pool, great morning sunrise and wildlife on property. Food was great. Only a brief delay in getting a hold of someone to check in. Other than that wonderful stay.
We loved the infinity pool and the casitas are very nice, we are definitely coming back
Beautiful place. The best hotel so far during our trip. Very quiet and no television. The wi-fi is accessible only at the bar area. A reallynice place to relax. The food was fantastic. I would definitly return to this place.
A perfect getaway
The crew at Casitas Sollevante were fantastic. The casitas were the right size, an the view could not be beat.
Food preparation, meals were made to perfection. Very quite and relaxing, the pool was great. The cocktail service could be better, no olives for martinis.
We enjoyed staying in our casita with the private patio at this property. The private outdoor shower in our bathroom was unique! The garden is beautiful and the sunrise views are amazing. A beautiful swimming pool, clean and warm. Friendly staff. Ordered breakfast here twice and it was excellent! Great coffee Very close to Montezuma town but far enough away to enjoy the quiet grounds. ( we had originally booked one of the apartment units which turned out to be on the other side of the grounds and too far from the pool. They offered us a choice of the casita by the pool instead and we much preferred it.) Restaurants nearby that we liked were Terra Y Fuego and Playa De Los Artistas. Things to do nearby: Cabuya Island at low tide, Curu Wildlife Reserve, Cabo Blanco hike, Montezuma Waterfall, Playa Grande walk. There are many beautiful beaches along the road to Cabuya. Turquoise water and great swimming. In Cabuya, we stopped for lunch at Calalas and enjoyed a swim in their beautiful oasis like pool and had a look at their beach. Had a great show by the monkeys as they swung by in the palms around the pool eventually coming down to drink the water right from the pool! Hilarious! Would recommend Casitas Sollevante to anyone.
Love it
Montezuma is a fantastic little town and this hotel is a gem perched on top of the town, so cool
Lovely little hotel with great pool and views.
A lovely quiet hotel, with helpful and attentive staff. Decor and interiors were basic but gave us everything we needed. The views from the pool area are gorgeous as is the pool itself. There’s a bar area by the pool and yoga is available too. The only drawback was that the hotel is quite a walk (25 min ish) on a fairly steep and windy road to get into Montezuma and we also had a problem with mosquitos in our house - no nets and a window in the bathroom which had no pane to keep them out meaning we were all bitten during the night.
Nice cabins gorgeous view
Cabin was clean and comfortable. the Beds and doors were a little noisy but loved the covered patio. Whole property was very relaxing, great view of the ocean. Staff was very friendly and helpful and they will cook you a great breakfast for a small charge. Would stay there again.
Beautiful hotel for a quiet getaway.
We arrived there for a friends wedding which was at a different hotel, but booked this one because it was cheaper and looked nice in the pictures. The pictures don’t do it justice, as this place is more beautiful. The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to keep us happy. One problem we had was that when we booked it, the map that is on kayak and Expedia make it look like the hotel is walking distance to Montezuma. It is not, however it is a very short taxi ride. The problem with that is that the taxis are sparse in the evening so if you plan on staying out late in town then you may have trouble getting back to the hotel. We tried calling the hotel to ask them to call a taxi for us and they were unable to help. We ended up asking around town till we found a taxi. If you are coming for a quiet getaway- this is definitely your place!
Nice hotel in a very poor area!
Beautiful spacious room nice friendly Staff. I would fire the cook, otherwise Great!
Paradise
Wonderful pool - open air shower - friendly staff - best night of sleep after a busy day
Nice place with awesome view
The view is awesome. You will need a quadra, car, or taxi to get around. This is not on the main road nor really a comfortable walking distance to town. It is located high on the hill above Montezuma.
Too much money
The hotel is very overpriced for the quality of room. There were no bedside lamps so reading at night was not possible. The shower was warm, and turning on the cold tap was a challenge. There was only cold water at the sink in the bathroom. The kitchen flooded because the waste pipe at the sink had come loose! Nice. It was seen to straightaway. No hairdryer in room. Although I did find out later that they were available if asked for. The Bar by the pool was seldomly manned so if you wanted anything you had to search for someone. There were only five sun beds by the pool and two canopied raised beds with beautiful views. The canopied beds were great. On one occasion we heard the Owner shouting at one of his staff by the pool. The WiFi in the room did not work all the time and trying to download a film at night was impossible. The patio door lock was extremely difficult and took a number of trys before it worked.
Pool with an amazing view. Close to downtown Montezuma with plenty of shops and restaurants, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Excellent place, excellent room, excellent energy ... met the expectations I was looking for from the place. Access a little complicated but this makes the hotel more private ... I would recommend that they include breakfast
Beautiful views
Overall, we enjoyed staying at Casita Sollevante, the staff was great & we recommend it.
So accommodating! We arrived at 11 at night!
They also let us spend the day at the pool. Amazing and gorgeous!
Amazing view.
I really loved my stay here. The owner was on site and very friendly. The only negative is if you don't have a car you need to cab back and forth from Montezuma as the walk is long and down a really steep hill. Views are amazing on top of a big hill overlooking the ocean, pool was nice and clean. More of a romantic laid back hotel. Ideal for an older couple looking to relax and enjoy a more raw Costa Rican experience. I'm 27 and came with a friend but still really loved staying here. No TV or any form of electronics in our room but I felt it truly offered a getaway from the modern big corporate hotels. I would come back but next time I would make sure I come with a spouse to get romantic with haha
Excellent Super High End in Montezuma
This place is a slice of paradise. Perfectly situated in the hills overlooking the water. Room was private and more than we could have asked for. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Pool was nice and relaxing. The stars were amazing to view during the nights. Highly recommended.
pleasant surroundings
enjoyed my 2 nights there. Staff were really helpful. Friendly. Liked my room as the geckos did too.
Full of you and grounds
Excellent property big rooms beautiful view Nice swimming pool big grassy area. Short drive to town or walk I would recommend this to anybody really nice shower in the bathroom open to the sky. Breakfast is not included but they will make you a custom breakfast. Road to property from main road very rough about 2 km
Very nice hotel with one drawback
OK, we loved this hotel, they have a great pool, wonderful staff, and a nice view from the top of the hill above Montezuma. There is a drawback, however: You have to drive down to the beach or town, the hill is too steep to walk AND the dirt road the last 1/4 mile was the worst rutted road that I drove while in Costa Rica.
Beautiful View!
We loved Sollevante! I was originally attracted to it due to seeing photos of the pool area and it did not disappoint. The pool is warm and clean and has an amazing view of the ocean, and comfy lounge chairs in sun or shade. This is a great place to go if you really want to feel like you're in a private paradise away from it all. Even when all the rooms (apartments) were full, there were many times when we would have the pool area to ourselves. The apartments themselves are very cute. We got one with a kitchenette, and it had a great view of the ocean from far above it. This hotel is up on a hill, not far from downtown and the beach. Far enough to feel very peaceful, but close enough for walking if you don't mind the heat. The walk into the little town is only 20 minutes, but even downhill, it's pretty hot during the day! However, taxis are only $6 American each way and they come very quickly when the hotel staff calls them. Varina and Larissa were both great and very helpful in booking tours and rental car, calling taxis, answering questions, etc. The grounds are well kept and gorgeous. They seem to be constantly improving things as well; in the short time we were there, they finished a bathroom by the pool and built a new pool lounge structure with shade. The AC worked really well! Power went off a couple times but came right back up within a minute or so. There was mosquito netting but we didn't even use it every night; surprisingly few mosquitoes here.
Montezuma
The road to get to the hotel was extremely rough. If we did not have a 4x4 we wouldn't have made it.
Cute place to stay
The lady running the hotel was fabulous helped us every way she could
High quality design, beautiful peaceful location.
Simple but high quality design and finish to rooms and layout. Spectacular views of the ocean surrounded by tranquil gardens full of birds. We loved the open air shower and hummingbirds on the flowers just outside the room and the luxurious sunbeds by the pool. Excellent meal at the romantic Playa de los Artistas around the bay from Montezuma. Helpful friendly staff.
Beatiful hotel just a little to far from Montezuma
Room was great, staff and owner Marco were excellent but it is a difficult walk into Montezuma and taxi fare there and back three times a day starts to add up.
Beautiful Hidden Gem !
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous ... The view is amazing and the rooms are very nice clean and quiet. The only thing to consider is it is about a 10 minute drive from Montezuma so you will need some sort of transportation. Try the coffee and breakfast .... Very delicious !
rctesrcviewtsecrgreat view, but...
The hotel was OK at best. A bit over priced for what you get. The room was again OK, hot water was Luke warm and the barking gecko in our room woke us many times.
Great little surprise
This hotel exceed our expectations, we booked it last minute and it was a great little surprise, small nice pool, awesome view, and relaxing beds. The room itself was very comfortable, with A/C, Mini fridge, coffee and an outdoor shower with all organic bath gels and other toiletries. There is parking on site so we felt safe leaving our car there. Only thing I would change is to have breakfast till 10 am, we woke up at 9 am and by the time we got ready for breakfast it was closed and no one around to order something a la carte. But overall it was really beautiful.
Absolutely Beautiful View of Pacific
I relaxed completely when I stayed here. I loved every second of it. I had the most beautiful view of the Pacific ocean from my balcony. The hotel may be pricey but it is worth it.
Secluded, romantic, peaceful with beautiful views
We had a wonderful experience at Casitas Sollevante! Our hosts Farina, Louis and Pancetta (the pot belly pig) were very friendly and attentive. Our casista was roomy, bright and comfortable. The pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean and mainland Costa Rica was exceptionally clean. The location was perfect for us, being slightly removed from the lively village of Montezuma. A short inexpensive taxi ride brought us to all area attractions such as beaches, hikes, waterfalls and restaurants. We were fortunate to meet up with Esteban, a friendly, knowledgeable young taxi driver who drove us wherever we wanted to go at a reasonable rate. He spoke excellent English and gave us helpful tips about the area. We are so happy with our choice of Casita Sollevante!
Beautiful hideaway
We had a fantastic time staying at this beautifull hotel once we found it! The google map location is about 1 mile off and we had to hike up the steep hill with all our gear. It's remotely located which makes it very quiete and peaceful. But to get to the town requires some good boots and lungs. Our private casita had a large balcony with stunning views of the pool and ocean. The pool was excellent although the hot tub was not really hot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable, room was spacious and bathroom very clean and modern. I would definitely return as the price is very reasonable.
Good value for what you pay
This hotel was a good choice for the amount paid. The best part of our stay was the private large patio and the pool. Things that may deter other visitors (but okay with us) is the multitude of insects sharing the location and the access from town - you definitely need a sort of transportation. On the negative side: The kitchen could be better stocked. The bathroom is very spartan. The septic system does not accept toilet paper. We did not have breakfast there and therefore cannot comment.
Beautiful place in the hills, but far from beach
I've stayed here twice now, and would recommend to folks that have transportation, and don't plan on indulging in the Montezuma nightlife.
Beautiful panoramic view
Comfortable stay in quirky Montezuma. The rooms are simple and comfortable. The shower is open to the sky and enhances that tropical feel. The Pacific is spread wide below. It is a taxi ride to and from town, the walk is steep and with no footpath not terribly safe. The taxi is about $3-4 each way and reception will call for you.
Great location..
If you are looking to just chill and want a simple yet great place to say for the money, this is the place to go...
Oasis Above Montezuma
Our stay in this hotel was terrific. It's a marvellous location just above Montezuma, so you can enjoy the town and then experience a tranquil setting overlooking the ocean with an absolutely gorgeous view. There's quite a lot to do around Montezuma (waterfalls, hiking, beaches, surfing), and the staff were quite helpful in making suggestions and accommodating all our needs. Note that you can't really walk from town (it's a good steep climb), however it's only a 2 minute drive. There are great restaurants in Montezuma, but for a chance of pace we cooked in the room and then set a table outside to eat under the stars. It was glorious.
Isolated and unsafe location
location was way too far from town or beach. property stretches along a dark road that seemed very unsafe and easy access for thieves. waited at reception for 30 minutes for assistance checking in. the next door property is used for weddings and other events. the night of our stay they had blaring music throughout the night. which i understand, but staff had told us that music would end shortly...which it did not.
Beautiful view, a hike from town
Everything about this place is great as long as you have transportation or don't mind the 20min walk into town (steep downhill) and the sweat inducing return from town. Have a taxi number handy: $4 each way, 5 minute drive. Staff were all great. Pool is amazing. Rooms were nice. If you can live with the distance to town, this place is a relaxing break from the lower budget traveler-type places in montezuma proper.
The perfect place to stay in Montezuma (with car)
The place is awesome - the houses are scattered in a beautiful garden and overlooking the see from above. Just magnificent to lie in the hammock and enjoy the great view. The room was simple, but comfortable. The A/C was a bit ineffective. The place is off the main Montezuma, which was great for us to have peace, but if you need to be down on the beachfront, or if you want to go around the magnificent beaches, you need a car (3 minutes drive). It was a lovely stay and we are wishing to come back.
Beautiful location
Clean, quiet, spacious rooms in a beautiful setting. But I recommend you only stay here if you have a car, town is ~2km away down a very steep hill.
Great Hotel but Out of Tiwn
This is a very simple hotel. There are no restaurants or bars but it has a great view and a great pool. The driveway coming in is rather rough. The hotel is not convenient to the town. However, it is very clean, comfortable, and modern looking. We had a great stay!
Casitas Sollevante | Home in Cóbano | Travala.com
Our stay at Casita Sollevente was incredible, the accommodation was very clean, a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean, had two out door pools that were great for relaxing in. The complete staff treated us very well throughout our stay. The food and drinks are very good. The short drive down the hill into Montezuma is easy, though you certainly want a car as it is a steady incline from the town up to the resort. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
