I have stayed many times at Casa Naemie. Its a comfortable no frills hotel . The beds are excellent. It has aircon or ceiling fans. I hate aircon. So I use the fans. Perfect. I love thebreakfast. Best coffee and scrambled eggs in the Colonial Zone.
Great location, however very busy area with one way roads.
.
Half of the staff were quite kind, while the other half made the stay more difficult than it should have been. This second group seemed entirely disinterested in their job and didn’t care to help customers with anything (like providing tourists with information about restaurants, ATMs, or directions). This hotel completely did not respond to Expedia messages, and I had to call them long-distance to arrange my airport transfer, which cost more than double what an Uber did. Check-in took 30 minutes, which is unacceptable, and the insistence that the bill be paid in cash when they had a card-reader stunk of inappropriate behavior. The location is safe, but was super loud at night due to proximity to night clubs. My ears were ringing. I would not recommend a stay here unless poor service and partying in the historic zone are priorities.
The hotel was charming and mostly comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived late the first night and was not able to stay in the room I had booked. I stayed in a much smaller room with no AC and no towel. I was able to pay about half price for that first night. I was not able to pay with a credit card. It was fairly easy to get cash to pay. The free breakfast was basic but OK.
Cute hotel in the Colonial District.
Super-cute little hotel in a great location. Kevin checked us in and was so friendly. The women serving breakfast were also very sweet. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Staff was very nice and helpful but when I showed up the room I supposedly had paid for four nights was not available they overbooked or something. Already had tons of trouble at airport so the last thing I needed was trouble at the hotel. Any hotel that can’t keep someone’s room, that they paid for, available, I would avoid like the plague.
Nothing
My friend and I were pleased with the accommodations. We had an updated bath and a private balcony which was great given the unexpected curfew in Santo Domingo. The location is great where the city center is a 3 minute walk away with lots of restaurants, rich history and memories to make.
travel guru
This is an older remodeled residence , the place is small but very nice, clean , no elevators , rooms are small but well equipped, bathroom nice and beds comfortable. Everything smells good and is clean. Rooftop lounge area makes it nice for evenings relaxation. Staff is great and friendly, breakfast was very good and plenty. The surrounding area is great , a block from the cathedral and plenty of shopping and dining. This is thebold colonial city so nice architecture from the colonial period. Parking is a nightmare so uber is best. Great value and rate.
There were a lot of stairs, the bathroom was very antiquated and somewhat uncomfortable.
Always a great stay!
Very good location. Good breakfast . Friendly employees
Very good location and very helpful and friendly Staff. I am a walker so it is easy for me to walk up to Chinatown and get some pretty good Chinese food. Nice, safe area to walk in. Lots of historical sites
Great service from all staff, they helped me learn the area and everything around me.
Casa Naemie-Best of El Conde
Always a great stay at Casa Naemie. The staff is very friendly and helpful, The breakfast is great and made to order. Can't beat the location--central to El Conde and other restaurants and historical sites In a very historical, but well maintained building, with good features, including the bathroom
This place could be really great if the front desk attendant at night were nicer with guests. We came to run the Santo Domingo marathon and had two rooms here. The staff and place are nice, but the night attendant on duty this week had very bad attitude, I think he was not happy with late night check in, also one of my friends just walked me there to make sure check in was fine, my friend pointed out at this individual that he were being rude; in return the attendant decided to insult my friend saying that he went to college and had a degree, he then went to make extremely homophobic and racist comments against my friend. We will not return to this place, unless we know this person is not there any more. ( the rest of the staff is extremely nice and caring)
Excellent service. Pretty well located. Clean and neat.
Employees are very nice, we had a beautiful room with a terrace and very spacious, breakfast is also good
What I mostly liked was the spirit of service in all the employees, trying to please you in anything would make your stay a very pleasant one. They treat you like their family.
La habitación estaba frente a la recepcion, perdimos una noche de descanso, el ruido, los gritos del recepcionista de turno en la mañana, la ubicacion de la habitación, fue terrible, nos quedamos porque llegamos a las 11pm.
The staff were very friendly and helpful . The location was close to restaurants and shops
Great Stay in the Colonial Zone
The hotel is a gem in the Colonial Zone. The included breakfast was filling and delicious, and the rooms are incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. The staff were incredibly accommodating with a late night checkin and while there was a mixup with the room it was resolved timely. However, with how upscale the hotel feels, I was disappointed that there were no refrigerators in the rooms, nor was bottled water available. There was a water dispenser in the lobby with cups, but a refrigerator would have gone a long way to increasing the comfort of the room.
Very friendly staff always willing to help out to ensure that your stay is comfortable. Great location--central to most everyplace worth visiting and safe to walk around day and night. Good breakfast cooked and prepared according to your request. Also, a good value for being centrally located in the Historical Zone
Very cosy hotel
Close to every attraction.
Excellent service the staff was great make you feel at home.
Great hotel , full of old world ambiance in a safe
I have stayed here many times. it is one of my go to hotels in Santo Domingo . The zona colonial is charming and safe.
Amazing service. Kevin the manager is tops.
WE STAYED WITH TWO SERVICE DOGS AND THEY WER SO NICE WITH ALL OF US. THEY WERE SO NICE. WELL LOCATED, NEARBY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLCE IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. GREAT PLACE TO STAY.
Almost perfect...
The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. The old colonial atmosphere representative of the Zone Colonial. The staff goes out of the way to please. Thank you Kevin ! The lady preparing the breakfast is also very helpful and prepares some mean juices. This place got it absolutely right, save for two things that I have pointed out to them, The neighbour has a rooster and a dog, they may severely affect your sleep. The hotel is aware of that.
very nice and simple rooms
this is a very nice hotel with simple and clean rooms..also its very comfortable hotel..the staffs make you very welcome..they are great people who are always ready to help you.. there is not parking if you have a vehicle, but there is alway parking spaces in from of the hotel....
Not a place for a shower
The guy from the reception was very nice, but we should change the room twice because there is no hot water for shower. If you want to take a shower don't stay there. The breakfast is good The location is OK.
Friendly, safe, convenient.
This was my first trip to Santo Domingo. The hotel was a bit hard to find, but in a great location, and safe. Friendly staff (and most speak English), good breakfasts (fresh fruit and eggs to order), comfortable room with wifi and a terrace. Our room was on the top floor, a long climb in the heat sometimes, and we had no water pressure a couple of times. It would be improved with the addition of reading lamps.
The air condition was not working well so it was hot in March. The windows are not sealed so hot air can get through the cracks as well as mosquitos. Staff were excellent as well as the room was cleaned.
Convenient
Good
Ungreat
The place is darkish and gives an impression of uncleanliness, thus at $80 for a single not very good value for money. I live in the DR and go to Santo Domingo occasionally, always staying in this safer Zona Colonial, but I doubt very much I'll stay again at Naemie.
Lovely hotel
This hotel is lovely. There is a narrow center courtyard filled with plants. Several of the room have sitting areas that look out onto it. I had Room 11 on the top floor which had a sitting area that looked over the Zona Colonial. The hotel staff was multi-lingual and very attentive. They also had a great free breakfast! I travel to the DR for work about once a year and have stayed at multiple hotels in the Zona Colonial. This is by far my favorite!!
Be careful with last-minute booking
I booked a room in the morning for that same night, and when I arrived I was told the hotel was already full - there was no room for me! It took an hour but the staff found a room for me in another hotel in the colonial area.
Santo Domingo's Hidden Treasure
The hotel is so cozy as quiet. I absolutely love the courtyard with all the hanging plants!! Each room has its own terrace and a window box that's filled with plants. The breakfast is simple, but delicious. The staff members are warm and make you feel like family. I will not hesitate to book a reservation with this hotel in the near future!!
Not well kept at all!
The place just really needs a complete make over in the paint and upholstery that is provided is not recommendable for anybody to sit on. The common area sofas on the terraces on the top 2 levels of the entire hotel are just no excuses for not replacing them, all the cushions are ripped, dirty just plain nasty, you would not want to sit on them ever. Its a shame this place has a lot of potential just missing some TLC , that the owner does not seam to care about, to bad, I will not be back, that for sure!
No hot water and the room (1) was across from reception, so very noisy. Apart from that, staff were very friendly, breakfast very good and late check out time.
Very nice place
Very nice place, reasonably priced with great location, nice staff and good breakfast.
Overall good experience
Overall I have had good experiences here. I have stayed here on two trips. the staff are great . Some rooms are ok others are better. I stayed in a first floor room with a strong mildew odor. The next day they moved me to a better room. The area is great ,safe and close but not too close to ElConde. Comfortable and mellow. Wifi can be a little sketchy at times but overall is not bad. clean ,breakfast is good. No refrigerators in room .
Great location
It's a small boutique hotel to sleep, very quiet. Location is great. Close to restaurants, shops and Cathedral. Short walk to Ave G. Washington. (Malecon). If you are looking to go other hotels on G. Washington to play Casino, it's only 200-300 pesos or 5 USD. Going to Boca Chica from there will probably cost you 50 USD round trip.
Great stay can't wait to visit again
very nice vibe
My first time staying here. Though my fourth time in the DR. The room is smaller than I like but still comfortable. It was very clean a functional. The wifi, AC and hot water are all good. Kevin the manager and the staff are very cool Haitians. Lots of French tourists stay there. It has sort of a B&B vibe but still private. Breakfast is decent.
Cozy and clean
Easy check in friendly staff...
Everything was great, no complaints
Good bang for buck
This hotel has a good bang for your buck. Close proximity to el conde pedestrian walk, restaurants, and nightlife. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Would visit again
We recommend Casa Naemie!!
Great stay. The hotel staff was great and very helpful. The higher floor you stay on, the better natural light you will have in the room (total of 11 rooms, the higher the number the higher the level). The breakfast was also very good ... fresh fruit, eggs and meat. Good value, good location on quiet street.
boutique hotel in Colonial Zone
Very pleasant stay. My only complaint was that I couldn't get the cable tv to work. Staff came up twice and he couldn't get it to work, either. Otherwise, everything was perfect. Some guests may want to know that there is no elevator.
Nice Hotel
This was my 1st trip to the Dominican Rep. When I 1st arrived at the hotel, I was a little shocked when looking at the building. It was not what I was use to in a hotel like the Marriott or the Holiday Inn. I knocked for around 5 minutes, then Kevin, came to the door apologizing because he was changing clothes. After that, my attitude totally became a very pleasure experience. My room was being cleaned when I arrived, but I hadn't eaten yet, so Kevin directly me to the location of several eateries in the area and guaranteed me that my room would be ready when I returned, which it was. I was in room #5 and I loved it. Very intimate setting. The rooms were small, but very clean, hot water and A/C worked great. There is a roof top terrace which overlooks parts of the city. The bed are a little on the firm side, but the location of the hotel in excellent, only 2 blocks from the main street, El Conde. You will love this place, very quiet at night and peaceful. I will definitely stay here again.
Nice staff friendly didnt have elevator was on top floor
Convenient
Walking distance to everything in historical district. Staff was very accommodating.
Really nice location in La Zona Colonial.
The people here are very gracious, and they make a breakfast to order. The other guests are interesting. This is two blocks from the Cathedral square, right next to an awesome gallery called Bolos and around the corner from Jenny Polanco, which is a must-visit store and gallery. I stayed in a larger room--the others are small (more European in size) but still comfortable. If you are looking for an American-style hotel, this isn't it, but it fits in with the charm with the area and is a good value for the money.
Greta location - Great Manager.
Great time in the old city
Nice hotel close to everything
Nice hotel ,great helpful staff. Need phones in room only .
Nice hotel to short or long stay.
Very friendly, helpful Manager and staffs for all areas. Big help on using their washing machine/dryer for free.
Pleasant stay
Nothing fancy but, a very quaint hotel. Not for an out of shape person because there is no elevator however, the exercise did me good. I was in room 11 which was (in my opinion) the best room. Had daily problem with Wi-Fi in this room however, the staff was very pleasant to accommodate me. I was given a discount because of the problem with Wi-Fi. I was pleasantly surprised. Very good Breakfast....Thank you for your hospitality and I shall return again. (Looking to be in the same room)
Very Beautiful
I loved this hotel and it is so affordable. I had the 4th flr which is only one rooom and you have the roof terrace to yourself. This hotel is in the heart of colonial zone and we walked all over. I cant say how beautiful this hotel is and very romantic. I am going back in February and this is the hotel first on my list to stay at again. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Clean, safe and comfortable with great location.
I chose Casa Naemi for its previous reviews and found them to be quite spot on. Great location, beautiful neighborhood in Zona Colonial. Super clean hotel, comfortable bed, cosy room with fantastic little terrace. For the price, this hotel delivers 100%! Could use an upgrade on towels and a little bit more exciting breakfast, but again… for the price, one really can not ask for more. Recommendable. I will definitely stay at Casa Naemi again.
Perfect stay at Casa Naemie
Perfect stay from the beginning Ideal location in the Zona colonial, walking distance from the main attractions Haitian staff lovely and very professional
Excellent hotel next to the plaza
We gladly recommend this hotel for its location, staff and rooms.
Great location, great staff, clean and quiet hotel. Very recommended! But not parking, although there is a public garage close.
The best little hotel I have stayed in❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great...exceeded my expectations....................
A small ropm wth balcony
Very convemiently located for Zona Colonial. I had a nice room, if small, with a fine bathroom and nice balcony. I do not think all the rooms are as nice. Good breakfast and very helpful staff.
Very good value
The hotel is well located withing easy reach of all the zona colonial sights and restaurants but is in a quiet street. The staff are welcoming and helpful, the room was clean with a good shower. There is quiet indoor seating on the landings and the roof terrace and we had a balcony. The breakfast room is a little on the small side and we had to wait for others to finish but that is a minor thing. All in all I would recommend staying here.
a little retreat
we moved from a hotel to this guest house for our last 3 days to get away from the noise & found this to be much better. We had a second floor room with a covered patio where we could sit & read or relax. Our room was large with a walk in shower, a couch, a writing desk, & room to walk around. The breakfast was fresh cooked each morning. It had a computor but no printer & lacked some of the extras of a hotel, but for us it more than made up for it as we got a bit away from the noise (athough the there were dogs barking & music at odd times). The manager was helpful in answering questions.
The staff is very friendly and cooperative. The location of the hotel is perfect.
Great boutique hotel in the Zona Colonial
The staff were extremely friendly, and very helpful. The hotel is beautiful and location fantastic. The room was large, and impeccably clean. It's had dot imagine why you would spend any more on a hotel elsewhere, when you have this gem at this excellent price.
Perfect
My wife and I spent just one night to take in a Jazz concert and found Casa Naemie to be perfect for us. Within walking distance of all the Colonial District, clean, charming accommodations, and friendly and helpful staff. We got the second floor room "with balcony" which did not have a view out but still was a charming, peaceful and private patio for morning coffee. We loved the Colonial district and Since we live in the DR for much of the year, we are planning a longer getaway there soon and will definitely stay at Casa Naemie!
Zona Colonial Stay
There is some renovation happening around the hotel for the zone colonial so we walked about a block from our car to the hotel. But that problem is only temporary as it is very near completion. We had breakfast on the roof, overlooking the ocean. We had a meeting at the hotel with non-guests but the hotel treated them as a hotel patron. We were very pleased. It was quiet, clean and well located.
Great location, EXCELLENT and very helpful staff
Like I said great location, affordable, and great staff. Water in the lobby.
nice but just basic. rooms small. try to get higher level than first floor
Good location, but unfortunately I realised too late there was bed bugs in my windowless room. Checked out a day early. They offered to clean my room or to switch rooms, but bed bugs are not that easily to get rid off. Expedia team attempted to reach out to manager for refund for my last night but to no avail.
