Not a good location We were assigned a room without window It was like a cage or a room in prison Don’t fall for the pictures
Beautiful, quaint WELL located, quiet hotel
Our stay at Casa Esmerelda was great - it felt like home away from home. The hotel is lovely - extremely clean and modern. The breakfast was delicious. And most of all, the staff are very kind, thoughtful and helpful. We’ll miss the amazing people at Casa Esmerelda and would definitely return if we visit Cusco again. Highly recommend!
Great for Solo Travelers
The staff was very helpful although they didn't speak English. I was able to use Google translate and WhatsApp to communicate effectively. The breakfast is included and very tasty. It's mostly buffet style however they also made omelettes according to your liking. The rooms are cleaned daily and the team and coffee station is always well maintained. Very quiet and relaxing.
Perfect place and nice location
The customer service was incredible and free breakfast was amazing so many choices! The front desk went above and beyond for me when I was sick!
Very friendly and helpful staff Having hot water, tea and coca leaves always available is helpful when dealing with the increased altitude. We told them at 6 pm that we needed to leave early for our tour and there was a packed food bag for us the next morning at 4 am
The staff here was exceptional !! There was a young lady who assisted us with check in , cooked our breakfast, assisted with printing documents, ordering transportation, etc. A real cozy quaint hotel I will definitely revisit anytime I’m in Cusco
Beautiful property. Tucked off the main road, so it wasn’t noisy. Amazing hospitality!
Our stay at Casa Esmeralda was excellent! The hotel is gorgeous, and is located in a very convenient spot, without being too submerged in the bustle and noise of the city. The rooms were always kept clean by the staff, and the complimentary breakfast every morning was always delicious! Giara, the receptionist, is the sweetest! She was very gracious and helpful with anything we needed throughout our stay.
Good Hotel
Nice clean hotel. Front desk great, room not big but pleasant, good breakfast. 18-20 minutes toPlaza de Armas. Hotel is on nice side street in an area that not particularly glamorous. Iglesia de Nuestrs Seńora de Belen is 5-10 minutes away.
Very clean, beautiful with good service and good location
Excellent and convenient place to stay.
I understand we came at a time shortly after there were some water issues in town-however I felt that it was never voiced until I brought it up with the property. At random times the water would be turned off and at first we were told that maintenance turned it off to fix it. But there was never any heads up to let us know this was going to happen. And it happened atleast once every day. It would have been nice to have been notified that they were going to turn off the water at certain times so you could plan accordingly but that never happened. Otherwise it was a nice property that was clean, had a good breakfast and I was appreciative of the early check in since we got into Cusco at like 8am the morning we arrived.
We left a night early and moved to a different hotel. We advised the hotel of a feather allergy and what they were able to provide were 2 tiny throw pillows for me and my wife. The towels in the bathroom were tattered. The staff was rude, when I asked for an additional pillow case so I can stuff it with jackets to make my own. The shower did not drain well so if you took more than a 5 minute shower the water would overflow into the bathroom, not to mention you would be standing in 2 inches of water. The doorbell on the front door is not responsive and when we arrived at night we were stuck in this dark aly and they were not attending the phone number listed on the door to call for service. Lastly it is impossible to sleep here, you can hear EVERYONE on the same floor and above you, they appear to once have blackout curtains- because one window had them and the other did not and you have flood lights lighting up the entire room all night. The noise from the neighborhood, car alarms, and then from neighboring guest rooms is unbearable.
Excellent service staff, amazing breakfast and within walkable distance to the city centre
Excellent service and convenient location
Staff was great, room clean, breakfast amazing
The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly! Breakfast menu is good as well and is walkable to the main historic centre.
The hotel was super cute and the staff were so helpful and accommodating!! The only thing that could have been better was the heat situation! They didn't turn on the heat until 6 pm on my first stay and then not until 9 pm on my second when I returned from my trek. That being said, the front staff turned it on for me earlier as I was freezing and just needed some warmth after being in the mountains. I would definitely recommend Casa Esmeralda. It was close enough to Plaza de Armas, San Pedro market, and everywhere else, and the service was excellent!
The place was average at best.
We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights, the room was very small, we barely have space to accommodate the luggage and the breakfast schedule was to short, around 8:30 am I’ve tried to pour myself a cup of coffee and there was none left, I’ve requested for one and they told sorry, no coffee available, no juice, no milk. Very disappointed.
Rooms are very comfortable, staff very friendly, breakfast was above our expectations. Due to its location is better to move using transportation to visit other places in Cusco.
Staff was very kind, especially Edisson who was available any time by WhatsApp.
Great Value, Service & Comfort
Excellent service- Gladys at the front desk goes abive and beyond! Great value for money and a lovely breakfast spread.
Very nice
I was only there one night between returning from Machu Picchu and heading back to Lima. But the entire place impressed me. It was beautiful! 12min walk to Mercado San Pedro. Eggs made to order at breakfast.
Staff was amazing and went above and beyond.. very walkable to everything and very safe
Great place to stay!!
The accommodations were beautiful. The man at the front desk, Andrew was incredibly helpful and kind and spoke very good English. He recommended some wonderful places to eat and see. Really a great experience!
A place to relax
Amazing hotel within walking distance of the main plaza. The place looks very charming, the bed is very comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Excellent place- Outstanding staff
We were traelling as a family, occupying 3 rooms. The place is done really tastefully, and the rooms are very nice, if they could be slightly more spacious and with a desk. Bathrooms were clean and the shower very powerful (always a bonus). Breakfast was a good spread, cooks most accomodating. Reception staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Quaint little garden, which is blessed by the daily visit of a humminbird :-) Location is ok, slightly retired from town centre but whithin walking distance. Thoroughly enjoyed staying there and recommend it wholeheartedly.
Location - located in walking distance to many cultural attractions.
The hotel is clean and modern. Our room was rather odd with the only window in it opening up to a hallway. Veronica at the front desk was phenomenal and super helpful when we were trying to find lost luggage. Breakfast was included and really delicious with fresh fruits, juices and eggs. This hotel is not located near the downtown Cusco area. It was a bit of a walk and not very convenient.
Great hotel
great hotel: clean room and bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. It's a great place to stay in Cusco. Located about 15 min away from the main plaza on a quiet street.
The scented plug ins were very strongly scented which combined with the altitude gave my partner bad migraines, other than that this was an absolute perfect place to stay with lovely and helpful staff!
Experiencia en Cusco
Staff muy atento y servicial. El desayuno es muy bueno y si sales muy temprano lo empacan para llevar. El cuarto muy cómodo y regalan té de coca y muña
Quiet, beautiful, and helpful friendly staff
This hotel is very beautiful. Small and tucked away on a quiet street it has a very quaint feel as if staying in someone's home vs. a hotel. The entire place is very clean and I loved the coca tea set out at all times as well as the complimentary breakfast. They were also very nice offering to let us have breakfast the morning of our check-in instead of the next day since we had to leave for Machu Picchu very early in the morning before breakfast. The first night was difficult as there were dogs barking loudly in the street all night but that is not the hotel's fault. I'm glad I took a chance and booked them again for a few more days later in my stay because those nights were very quiet. Be sure to ask at the front desk if they can help arrange tours because we had several very nice private tours to surrounding ruins that we would have never set up otherwise. They also let us store our luggage before and after checkin. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Room was very clean and spacious, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from. Within twenty minutes walking distance to plaza, very happy to stay there again.
Since being in Peru this has been the best property so far, staff were friendly and very helpful, breakfast by far the best, room large, comfortable and with a heater, fully recommended.
Out of the hotels we stayed at in Cusco, this was by far the best one. Very clean, modern and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
25 years experience
I’ve been working for the Tourism industry for over 25 years, travel the world all around and stayed in many hotels big and boutique. With that said...this is by far the best small property owner hotel I have never being. Everything, all around was the highest standards in the industry. I will not said anymore because I know as a fact that probably some of the readers will think this is a comment related to the owners, but honestly this is not. I strongly recommend this hostel!
Home away from home
Absolutely fantastic experience. It honestly feels like home. Everyone was so wonderful, warm and kind.
Quiet, very clean hotel, bed linen in perfect condition, kind helpful staff, close to the center.
Fantastic hotel, beautifully decorated and in a surprisingly quiet street, yet close to the hustle and bustle of Cusco. The staff were fantastic, and breakfast up to standard and beyond considering the price we paid for our room. They had free water and tea refills which was very handy since tap water is not drinkable in Cusco. The only thing to improve would be to have better curtains in the room, that actually block light. Still I would come back many times! Great experience.
A perfect boutique hotel.
Everything was incredible. The only very minor issue was that the heater wasn't easily controllable. Nonetheless, this was an incredible hotel that we even returned to after a day at Machu Picchu.
The staff was excellent, my room was very comfortable and clean- they provided a breakfast bag during days I left early for my tours- also they allowed me to check in very early at no extra cost, I arrived at 5 am in Cusco, it was a bless to have a clean and comfortable bed to rest after a long trip. I recommend this hotel 100%.
New, stylish boutique hotel, excellent value for the price. Compared to other hotels in the same rating category, this one is a rare find. Fantastic complimentary breafkfast and a great place to acclimate to Cusco’s altitude. I highly recommend this hotel.
Casa Esmeralda
Great hotel, so relaxing, smelt lovely and very clean. Great breakfast and staff very friendly. Only issue was knowing check out time- shown a form that said 10am, then was told by staff it was 10am but could check out at 11 am if we wanted. Then found the card in the room said check out is at 12, then asked another staff member and was told 12. Asked the next morning to the same staff member who had said 10am originally and they said 12! It was 12, was just a bit confusing.
New/ modern, great bed, bathroom like home, hot large shower, good continental breakfast plus make eggs. 15 minute walk to placa armas and all the restaurants, felt safe walking in evening since busy well lit streets. Quiet area 2 or300 meters off main road. Sofas away from lobby if need to wait/ relax... one of better ones I’ve stayed at in 6+ countries
Great staff comfy rooms
Hotel was perfect with a beautiful late check out of 12pm
Incredible deal
Except quality for the price. Cute decor, good breakfast included. About 15 min walk from Cusco center so convenient. Shocked at how good the rate was for the quality and style. Would def stay again
Location is not the best, 15 mins walk to central area. I couldn’t sleep well, I could bear every noise from my room. Staff are nice and helpful.
Helpful staff, good and quiet location, clean, confortable
It was conveniently located, the staff were all incredibly nice and helped us a lot. The rooms were quite and comfortable. A overall amazing experience. Highly recommended.
Great hotel in Cusco
About 5 minutes (at 5 soles) by taxi to Plaza de Armas, tucked away in a primarily residential street, next to a beautiful cactus wall. The staff is amazing, very helpful and warm. Rooms are very comfortable, very clean. Laundry facility is great, especially when you have been traveling around before coming to Cusco. 8 soles per kilo, and you get it back the same night if you hand it in by 9 am. Definitely recommended.
Nice place
It's a beautiful place to rest. But doesn't have a bar or restaurant. Breakfast should be served earlier at least from 5 am for people leaving in the early morning. There was no coffee or tea because service girl leaves at 11 am. Place is good to rest only
Quiet and Comfortable Location near everything.
The hotel is a little hard to find because there is a gate on the main street and only pedestrian traffic is allowed. What this does is provide a very safe and quiet environment with easy walking access to the historic center of Cusco or they will call you a cab if needed. I truly enjoyed my stay, the rooms were excellent, breakfast great and front desk very helpful. I especially enjoyed the shower, lots of hot water with good pressure.
Fabulous stay in Cuzco
Fabulous rooms, excellent service & lovely staff with tasty breakfast. Only negative was interior rooms without windows which lacked air flow.
The hotel is a boutique hotel that is very beautifully designed. The rooms were cozy and very clean. It got kind of cold at night and their heaters weren't working so we had to ask for a separate heater which they gladly provided. The breakfast buffet had all the essentials and they also will make you a hot eggs dish if you ask for it. The check-in and check-out was easy. The only thing is that it's not near the city center and it is a bit dangerous to walk at night around the boutique hotel. However, it is only a dollar or two to take a taxi back from the City Center. It is nice that is tucked away in a more residential space because it is very quiet.
Fabulous place in a great location. I would highly recommend!
Great
Brand new small hotel Great breakfast and service The only inconvenient thing is that It’s not located in the historic district but the neighborhood it’s fine
We had a very relaxing stay in Casa Esmeralda. The hotel was beautiful and very modern. The service from staff and attention to detail was excellent. We were even offered a complementary upgrade for our last night as it was available. The hotel was not aware but this was our wedding anniversary so a fantastic end to a great few days! Overall a fantastic stay :)
Quality Clean Hotel
This hotel has spacious double rooms with friendly staff who speak English. The location is in a quiet road off of the main road but only 10-15 minutes walk from the main square (or 5 Soles in a taxi). I really liked the décor which is very boutique. The rooms are clean and comfortable with hot water and enough space. The breakfast is a buffet style with cooked options available. They let us leave our suitcases when we went to Machu Picchu for 2 days which was appreciated. The only potential issue is the check out time which states 10am even though it is 12pm on Hotel.com.

Nice Hotel
Really good. Help full staffs. I can recomended to others. Really good. Nice place. eacy to find the location.
Great hotel, great experience
Staff is very kind, the room are wounderfull and very clean (we stayed 3 night in 3 differents room witch were all in good condition and nice looking). Breakfast is really good with a good variety. Thank's a lot to the team of this hotel, your good work have made our experience a good memorie :)
15 minute walk to Plaza de Armas
Nice hotel. Location is difficult to find by some taxi drivers b/c it is tucked away but the staff is helpful & the rooms are exceptionally clean. The breakfast is also very good. Overall a great experience after a long hike up Machu Picchu!
Nice hotel, good location
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We had very god experience, hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.
Excellent service and coca tea
Excellent service, decent rooms. The free coca tea was a nice touch. The soaps are not particularly nice, though - it's hard to lather up with them. Also, the area is somewhat removed from the center of things and is a 15 minute walk to Plaza de Armas.
Great Hotel Near the Center of Cusco
Great hotel with wonderful people. Delicious breakfast - the eggs were fluffy and the fruits were fresh! A bit difficult to enter at night since the location is closed on one side. It's a quick walk to the center of Cusco! Absolutely recommend the place. Clean and lively.
Excellent experience
Excellent experience due to the very nice and helpful staff, very delicious dinner, nice room but far from the city center the staff help to pack our breakfast in an early time as we have to leave early in the next morning and it is my first experience to have such warm care! Highly recommend!
Priced right!
Nice small hotel priced right. We got dropped off late night and it was a bit confusing on why our cab could not drop us off at the door. But it was cuzz he could not fit down the street ( big 10 passenger). We had to walk 3 min ( not far at all) and we did not mind at all. The hotel was very quite, clean and staff was friendly. There is a caffateria open 24 hours so you can cook your own food. And breakfast is included. I would stay again if looking for a cheap nice hotel.
Good service & Friendly personnel.
Friendly personnel.
Refused to let us stay because of a technicality
By the letter of the law, foreign travelers must present a form from Peruvian immigration authorities to stay in hotels. In my 10+ years of living and traveling in Peru, however, I have NEVER been asked for this piece of paper to stay in a hotel. I presented my passport to show that yes, I was in the country legally, but the clerk refused to honor our reseveration without this form. He said that he would let us stay if we paid a ridiculous surcharge. Yes, I do understand that he was following the law, but this has never happened before, and he was extremely rude and unwilling to work with us to find a solution. Fortunately, a friendly taxi driver helped to us to find another place to stay.
Very good hotel in Cusco
Stayed at Casa Esmeralda before our Inca Trail trek. It was the best hotel we had in Peru, so glad we were there to rest before and after the trek.
Wonderful boutique hotel
It was an amazing boutique hotel. Very peaceful and excellent service.
Staff was lovely, especially Giada!
This place was great! Giada who worked there was incredibly helpful! She whatsapped us in advance, arranged a taxi to pick us up for a very reasonable price, had breakfast ready for our 3am departure, and held our bags for us. She also connected us with a couple local drivers who could take us to sites in the sacred valley. The room was really clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Would 100% recommend!
