Decent for a short stay

Good place for a short stay which is exactly what we have. In hotels.com the bedroom was advertised as a room with a garden view, however the room had the smallest windows that couldn’t be opened, the blinds covering them were broken. The lady during the afternoon who did our check-in was lovely, the bed was cozy but loud, shower was hot and room was very well cleaned and Breakfast was very average. Okay for a short time.

A fabulous hotel in the centre of Arequipa.

This is a very well located hotel near the Main Square. The rooms and breakfast are fantastic. Above all, the friendly and ever polite staff will always be there to assist you with tours, restaurants and recommend new/trendy places. An absolute gem near the historic centre of Arequipa.

A great hotel in Arequipa

The hotel is beautiful and it is very close to the main plaza. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was good. And all the staff was very attentive. We also took the cooking class, which was a different tourism experience. They also took care of our laundry, inexpensive and really quick. I was communicating with them through WhatsApp and didn’t have any issue since we had to check in early at 5 am. Definitely coming back to Casa de Avila b

Convenient and Relaxing

Great stay. Even prepared a little early breakfast for us on request since we had to leave for the airport a but before breakfast time. All the staff were so friendly, helpful, and professional.

Loved the hotel and staff. The garden area is so peaceful - a perfect spot to relax. Also found the room to be very comfortable. Very clean and just spacious enough. Stayed with my friend in a twin room, and the beds were definitely bigger than twin size - either doubles or fulls. Bathroom was also clean and convenient. Location is great - close enough to the Plaza and just off a couple side streets enough to be quiet. Wifi works GREAT. Delicious breakfast spread.

Comfortable stay, beautiful courtyard

We stayed here for two nights, arriving and leaving at 5am both times. They offered us early check in for an additional charge which was extremely convenient and meant we could sleep when we arrived. The room was on the ground floor, next to the beautiful courtyard. Clean and good size. It was quite cold but on the first night staff gave us a hot water bottle which was great, unfortunately we didn't get one on the second night. Breakfast was reasonable, hot drinks, a few juices, cheese/bread/fruit. Unfortunately they didn't offer breakfast takeaway when we checked out at 5am (we've been offered that at other hotels which is always appreciated). Location was a little out of the way but we knew that when booking our stay, only a 10 minute walk into the centre of town which was good. Staff are very friendly and helped us organise a rafting trip at a very reasonable price.

Nice hotel, suprizingly good food.

This is suprizingly nice place in Arequipa. They have a cooking school there. Every meal was made with care and understanding. The staff was super nice.

Great stay in Arequipa.

A lovely villa complex just outside of the main centre of Arequipa. Within walking distance of all the central attractions. Rooms opened up into a lovely courtyard which was amazing in the sunshine. A great breakfast and very helpful staff. The room was a little cold but it wasn’t really an issue. Highly recommend.

Pleasant stay in Arequipa

Hotel is situated within walking distance to Plaza De Armas with all the shopping, attractions and restaurants. Staff is very helpful, polite, and flexible Nice garden for chilling during the day or have breakfast at in the morning. Peruvian cooking class takes place here twice a day. Rooms are a bit outdated but we've noticed that throughout Peru. Positive experience overall.

Loved Arequipa

The staff was great really helpful and accommodating. The breakfast which is included is amazing especially when enjoyed in their sunny courtyard. The hotel is close enough to the historical downtown center to easily walk but far enough that it's nice and quiet

Good everything

Beautiful gardens and very relaxing environment

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Gardens and courtyard walkways were pleasing to the eye, staff were great and Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Hotel is a little older than some other places we stayed but it had a lot of character. The plus is that Peruvian cooking and Spanish lessons are on site for your enjoyment.

Location perfect.... easy walk to Plaza Arma but in quiet neighborhood....breakfast were great with a pleasant your lady looking after us. Center open garden area complete with big turtle was nice place to relax....wif was a little weak in the evenings

Rustic charm but primitively rooms

Wonderful staff, nice garden, but fairly primitively hotel. Thick blankets but no heat, no hairdryer, iron, etc, must discard toilet paper in the bin. About a seven-minute walk to the main square.

Arequipa's finest!

My daughter and I spent three nights at this hotel. The staff was incredibly helpful and supportive. We had our own cooking class which was amazing. I can't say enough good about this place. Highly recommended by us both!

6 night stay Oct 2015

We enjoyed the quiet relaxing atmosphere at this hotel and would stay again. It was far enough away from the Plaza De Armas to that it was quiet but only a 10 - 15 minute walk away. The staff were v.g. Breakfast was OK. There was the option to buy a cooked breakfast. We enjoyed having breakfast in the garden each day and also relxed there in the afternoons. The shower water was cold our last monring, but we just waited for an hour or so before showering. I did feel that we were overcharged for our laundry, but no big deal, would pay up front next time rather than at check out. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful Garden

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Garden grounds were relaxing and beautiful. The bed was firm but very comfortable. Breakfast was minimal. You could pay extra for eggs/pancakes and fruit. All the other hotels where we stayed those items were included. That is the only negative, otherwise it was lovely. Only stayed there one night. Did the cooking class the next day which was great and convenient. They stored our luggage with no problem during the day.

Relax and enjoy this place!

Casa de Avila is a big place centred around a lovely sun filled garden where you can enjoy your breakfast. Great breakfast Highly recommend this place. While u are there u can do one of their cooking courses which was fabulous & professional. Or take Spanish classes. The rooms were nice, quiet and bathroom a good size. The hot water was just hot enough not to complain about, we would prefer hotter. Very good English speaking staff. Short walk to main center, safe. Make sure you do the free walking tour it's the best way to get the most out of Arequipa , such a nice little town .

Simple but with beautiful large garden courtyard

Very friendly and helpful staff, safe, very pleasing place. The large garden courtyard has lounge chairs and is full of trees and flowers. The rooms are simple, but sufficient. Good walking distance to everything. For longer stays the place offers Spanish and cooking classes.

Cozy hotel near city center

Clean and comfort rooms; lovely incourt garden (turtle there!:-) and super-friendly and helpful staff. Small breakfast that is runing out of everything very quickly. There is no hairdryer at the room and no complimentary shampoo. Very comfortable location. Would recommend!

Good location and nice garden

An oasis near downtown

In my opinion, the beautiful garden with the huge tree in the middle was the most important characteristic. It made my experience very pleasant, specially because I wanted to relax. You can lay down on the armchairs all you want, surrounded by the beautiful scenery. This place is like an oasis, because even though this hotel is only 5 block from the plaza de armas, you cannot hear all the noise. In addition, their breakfast is well served, their rooms are clean and pretty decent. Their service was very good, I highly recommend this hotel!

Lovely courtyard garden and very friendly staff

I stayed for 4 nights with a family group as my son got married in Arequipa. The hotel is inexpensive so one can't expect luxury - the rooms are quite basically furnished but clean and the bed was okay. Shower pressure was poor in my room but others said theirs was like a power shower, so maybe rooms on the ground floor are better than first floor. My room had a fairly large flat screen TV (which I didn't use). The breakfast is quite basic, but okay for the money and one can order extras such as fruit salad which was huge and excellent for very little extra. The courtyard garden makes the hotel as it was great place to relax and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Location is good - only about 5-7 min walk in to the central plaza. The hotel runs various language and cookery courses which others in my group took (the cookery) great fun, informative and very good value.

Great Stay

This hotel is excellent. The location is just minutes from the historic centre, breakfast is excellent and the rooms are quiet and look over a beautiful communal courtyard. All the staff were exceptional in helping us with any queries and making arrangements for us.

Excellent place to stay in Arequipa

Really great place to spend a couple of days. Fantastic courtyard in which to relax, and where breakfast is served. Rooms very comfortable - try for one on the first floor overlooking the courtyard. Breakfast is tasty and optional extras of omelettes and scrambled eggs. Very quiet and a good night's sleep. Wi-fi fast. Location about a 5 minute walk from plaza de armas.

Friendly, welcoming cozy place

My boyfriend and I spent two nights here. It's a really welcoming, cozy place. Raquel, the manager was really helpful with answering questions, offering to let us leave our baggage when we traveled to Colca Canyon, calling cabs and making suggestions. We took the cooking class and loved it. The instructor was sweet and really knowledgeable and the dishes we made were both delicious. We took the seafood class and made both ceviche and pescado ala macho (sp?). The class was also a great way to meet other guests and travelers. It's located a few blocks off of the main square, convenient but nice and quiet. The courtyard is fantastic, we spent a lot of our time there, comfortable seats and good wifi signal. The room was pretty basic but had everything we needed. The one constructive criticism I would make is better blinds, the sun rose at 5 am and our room was really light, would would make it a bit hard to sleep later if you're sensitive to that. It was a really pleasant stay, and a great deal. We're hoping to come back soon.

Top Class Staff

We arrived later than scheduled on the overnight bus, with arrangements to meet up with our tour guide. All was co-ordinated well, rooms available and meeting re-scheduled.

Armando was very prompt in answering my emails and coordination went on smoothly. We made arrangement for an airport pickup and the driver was there when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and fave us information - what to see in the limited time frame and where to eat - that we needed for the afternoon that we will be in Arequipa. The hotel is very near all the tourist attractions. The room that we got was clean but was a bit small. Breakfast was adequate.

Hotel staff is helpful but hotel conditions need work. Room had an smell. I think a pipe on the restroom needed work. Although room was small. It was ok. Breakfast was very limited but they offer a la cart breakfast menu for a price.

Convenient, cute hostel-type hotel

Casa de Avila is definitely worth staying at. My husband, brother and I got a triple room, which had a full bed and a twin rollaway. It was a tight fit, but for the price and location, we didn't mind. It's only 4 blocks from the main square, so it's a safe walk even at night, and all of the staff is incredibly friendly. We saw a lot of people taking Spanish lessons in the cute courtyard/garden, which is as picturesque as the pictures look.

An unusual and lovely refuge

In brief, Casa d'Avila in Arequipa is unusual, warmly welcoming, and great for relaxing. The staff is uniformly friendly, helpful, and can assist with questions and difficulties. We left a hat in our room upon check out, and when we returned, they presented it to us. The enclosed garden is delightful in the Arequipa sun, with birds and a tortoise who visits every new shoe it sees, out of curiosity. It's a friendly environment that guests can participate in, or simply regard from a comfortable lawn chair.

The hotel service was exceptional! Nice, kind and very helpfull. Hotel is about 10-15 minutes easy walk to the center. Rooms are very good and renovated inside, but from outside the doors etc. look a little bit used. The patio/graden is a very nice space. Overall a very good place!

Simply Excellent

We stayed almost a week in this hotel and also enjoyed cooking and spanish lessons offered by the hotel. I don't have anything negative to say but I really have to highlight the friendlyness of the staff. Simply outstanding. It's not cheap, but then at the same time awsome value for what is offered

Great place to Relax in Arequipa

The courtyard around which the rooms are located is a great place to relax. You can spend all day there if you're not careful. The staff are superb, they have helped us several times and really make it a great place to stay.

Fantastic place to stay

A great place to stay in Arequipa - the rooms were set around a beautiful garden which was hard to leave! You could even have spanish lessons and cookery lessons in it. Even better were the staff - they were outstanding.

Lovely hotel to stay and and chill out

Casa de Avila was so homely and the gardens were so relaxing to come back to. The staff were more than helpful and booked the Colca Canyon tour for us. Hotel is quite central - about 5 minute walk from the main Plaza and is very quiet.

Great little hotel in Arequipa.

This was a very good stay for me. Its location was not too far from the main square. Rooms had plenty of space with a closet. TVs had cable with many channels, including several English-speaking ones. Wi-Fi in the room had a great signal. The courtyard is awesome. Breakfast was just bread and juice. One hint would be to have the address handy for cab drivers as the one from the bus terminal did not know the hotel by name.

Very nice hotel

We booked a triple room at casa de Avila for only one night. The room was big and clean. The bathroom was clean, the shower had hot water. Free breakfast, 2 computers with free internet, free wi-fi. There is a large garden with tables and chairs where you can eat, drink or just relax. Staff was very friendly and was of a great help during our stay. Also, they stored our bags during 2 days free of charge while we were doing the colca canyon tour. The hostel is well located too, it's a 5 minutes walk to Plaza de Armas. The only thing I wouldn't recommend from this hotel is to book a tour with them. It's way too much pricey. It's better to buy from tour operators around Plaza de Armas where you can bargain the price ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED HOSTEL ! You won't be disappointed !

Great value hotel close to all major attractions

This hotel is a little gem. Good value for singles, families and small groups with basic accommodation very close to the historic city centre. The large central garden courtyard is a fantastic bonus and a brilliant place to sit and relax or line in the sun and grab some rays. All the staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgement with great restaurant and touring tips. The is a travel office able to book all local tours and bus travel. No doubt the best value hotel in town... . basic but extremely comfortable and a home away from home.

Posizione perfetta vicino al centro per poter visitare Arequipa. Colazione buona e molto bella se consumata nel giardino (tempo permettendo). La camera è molto semplice e senza pretese ma adatta per un soggiorno comodo e a basso prezzo. Staff super.

El lugar es muy bonito, nos atendieron muy bien, en todo momento había alguna persona en recepción al pendiente de cualquier necesidad del huésped. Definitivamente volveríamos.

Me aloje en este hotel un total de 15 dias y todo genial desde la habitacion el jardin el desayuno y el servicion son muy buenos las abitaciones son limpias y los baños estan bien aseados disponen de wifi gratis que funciona perfecto en todo el hotel a si que no hay escusa por si hay que trabajar yo personalmente e estado por agosto pero repetire para cuando valla de nuevo en febrero por cierto la chica de la recepcion es muy atenta le doy las gracias.

Ich kann die Unterkunft in Arequipa nur empfehlen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und spricht Englisch. Die Zimmer sind sauber und gut eingerichtet. Es gibt einen schönen Gartenbereich, in dem man sein Frühstück einnehmen kann. Das Frühstück wurde als Buffett serviert und war sehr lecker. Ich bin länger geblieben als geplant.

Me gusto muchos el trato de las personas y el lugar, pero para un desayuno buffet, me parece que falta mas variedad.
