An amazing stay
It was an amazing stay at Casa Das Janelas Com Vista from the moment we checked in till after we checked out. Rooms are really nice with good beds and a big well equipped bathroom. The lounge area with self serve coffee and tea, is a nice hang out area and the breakfast is AMAZING and can really be recommended. We were several people staying there and agreed that when we come back to Lisbon, this hotel will be our preferred place to stay.
Beautiful room and great area
Property was beautiful, amazing area, so convenient for all the sights and nightlife whilst not being a busy street itself. The acoustics could be a little loud from the people above as it’s an old property but it didn’t bother me too much
I loved this location! The hosts were fabulous and so was the breakfast. I will be returning.
I have nothing bad to say about this property. It’s in a good walkable area. The decor of the house is beautiful. Their staff is so kind and so attentive. Their breakfast was yummy! The views from the room with views are breathtaking. I would def stay here again!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this beautifully curated property. The room was well-equipped with everything we needed, and the staff were incredibly helpful, recommending excellent restaurants and bars nearby. The surrounding area is vibrant and full of charm. We can’t wait to return!
The staff was fantastic and knowledgeable. The breakfast every day was a treat, and well prepared. The expresso was excellent.
Maria was fabulous at helping us with our issues and making us feel at home. This is a lovely property very well located. Only issue is it’s a walk up. So be prepared to walk up a couple of flights to your room every day
Great hotel in a great location. Lovely touches in the communal area. Excellent staff and service.
B
Wonderful location that is walkable to food, drinks, transportation, and points of interest. Very tasty breakfast and arrival cocktails! Would stay here again!!
This is a lovely hotel — quiet, tastefully decorated with very helpful staff. It is a bit far from many of the sights that tourists wish to see, but for those who enjoy walking, it is a very good choice.
We absolutely loved our stay! The B&B is extremely homey and was the perfect place to wake up, and come home to at the end of the night. We will definitely be sending our friends here!
Perfect
Really cute place to stay on a quiet street but just a few steps away from the bustling nightlife of Barrio Alto. Felt like a home away from home.
It was lovely. Very friendly & helpful staff. The pancakes were amazing & came in handy especially when there was no time to sit down & have breakfast because I had activities planned. The location is also perfect! Walking distance to pretty much everything you needed
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel!
Great stay, friendly staff. Walkable to lots of good restaurants and bars
The hotel was warm and cozy - a lovely place that felt like a home.
Amazing! Loved everything about this lovely place. Wonderful breakfast and the room was adorable with a balcony!
Really enjoyed your hotel. All staff were so helpful and pleasant.
The staff were always so nice and helpful and the room was simple and clean, exactly what I was looking for. As others mentioned, at times you could hear people on the street or going up the stairs in the building, but it never was an issue for me and I slept great!
Thank you 🙏 so much the breakfast is delicious The team is amazing 🙏
Comfy spot in great location with views
Super comfortable bed, efficient rooms, nice staff, easy checkin, and great location a close walk central to everything on a quiet street.
This place is amazing! It is a beautifully decorated B&B (not a hostel, as described in some reviews), close to everything in the Barrio Alto, and surprisingly affordable. I booked a standard room which turned out to be quite spacious, and the bathroom is enormous! Breakfast is excellent (the owners make delicious eggs upon request). I will definitely stay here again - and would actually prefer it to any luxury accommodation given the amazing customer service. Five stars!
During my brief stopover in Lisbon on my way back to the US, I sought a straightforward yet conveniently located accommodation near some of Lisbon's premier attractions. Casa Das Janelas Com Vista not only met but surpassed my expectations. The communication leading up to my stay was excellent, and the staff accommodated my request for an early check-in, ensuring the front desk was available. The room I was assigned exceeded my expectations, boasting a captivating view of the river from the balcony. If only I had more time in Lisbon to fully savor the charms of this casa! The common area was exceptionally charming, and I found myself wishing I had more time there, basking in its cozy ambiance and unwinding.
Great location
Stay was lovely! Great location for the nightlife as you were really close but still couldn’t hear a thing! Staff were lovely and hotel had a lovely vibe to it! Only complaint would be how the booking was shown on the app! So I’d booked a queen room which I thought was a fair price but when we arrived it was a double with about a feet around the bed as walking space! When looking back at the booking it said “queen requested” which annoyed me a bit! The room was tiny but it’s just where we slept so wasn’t a problem! No tv in room either which would have been nice as the weather wasn’t the driest!
Calmed atmosphere. Pretty window view. Rooms are smaller than expected if you’ re used to standard hotel rooms
The downstairs kitchen/breakfast area is nice and open with a honest bar and comfortable sitting. Breakfast has a good variety of selection. Room itself is pretty basic and the floor is slanted as in many buildings in older Lisbon. I took away a star because of the location. It is supposedly in a happening area of restaurants and shopping which is the case in several blocks on Principle Real but it is either uphill or downhill on cobblestones from the casa to anything. It is not close to a Metro. We Uber to the hotel but because of road closure. We had to drag our luggage uphill on cobblestones to find the hotel. Not so fun.
The property decor and feel was really lovely, the staff were so helpful and notging was too much trouble, breakfast was excellent. The home made apple jam was amazing. The location was close enough to everything, and just far back enough for a peacful night. I would highly recommend thos property and would gladly stay again.
Small but perfect for a solo trip!
Perfect boutique hotel! Great location, small but did the job perfectly as I was on my own. My room was very small, not much room for my suitcase but that was fine I was only using the room to lay my head at night. The bathroom was also small but beautifully designed. I had a great stay and the staff were so nice.
Nice but not as nice as in the past
This was the fourth time I have stayed at this hotel. I felt it has declined a bit. The first time I stayed, we were given a welcome lemonade and a very nice reception. This time , little details were lacking. Rooms were overly warm, the door was sticking, the cold water faucet was not working well. Overall, the hotel is still cute but lacks the warmth it once had ( Covid blowback?) Bairro Alto is also a rougher neighborhood than it was in the past. I would maybe select a different area in the future.
Location perfect and caring hospitality
This hotel was perfectly situated between the Fado district with many cool restaurants and the Botanical Garden and surrounding shopping. Awesome cutting edge shopping and everywhere sidewalk cafes. We needed to be tested for Covid before traveling further and the staff were helpful and kind beyond words. Breakfast rocks.
Beautiful property.. a bit off the beaten path but worth it.
This place is the best in town! The owner’s design ethic is top. This place had such a creative, chill vibe. Everything is immaculately clean. The bed is super comfortable, the shower amazing, and the healthy breakfast is superb. And if all that isn’t good enough wait until you meet the staff. They are absolutely amazing! Totally friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient! After this crazy corona virus is over I will definitely come back again next time I’m in town. Stay healthy everyone! Peace!!
Loved the breakfast and my room – it had a very nice view, and they use some fragrance when cleaning so it always smelled gorgeous
staff are friendly. the common area looks really nice. room is spacious. just no elevator.
Lovely room, lovely staff, the area better than I initially thought (I arrived on a Sunday and there was not much open but I didn't initially consider the fact that it was Sunday) and overall, a terrific experience.
Relaxing stay, staff extremely accomodating, breakfast superb.
Perfection in Lisbon!
This place was adorable! It was a proper Bed-and-Breakfast. The decor was great, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. I wish I could’ve stayed longer. I would stay here every time I visit Lisbon. And it’s in a hip neighborhood of Lisbon, near some great restaurant and bar options. Can’t recommend it more.
This is a charming boutique hotel with plenty of positives. The rooms were quaint, the staff exceptionally helpful and the common area with breakfast was beautifully appointed in a sort of shabby chic style. Great location with an overall lovely ambiance. However, there were lots of stairs and no lifts (so not great for anyone with wonky hips/knees). Our room didn’t have a frig or tv and had a constantly dripping tap - understandably not an easy fix with old plumbing, but still an environmental concern that can’t be great for their cost management. All this said, I still highly recommend it.
I just want to say that Claudia went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. She made us feel right at home, had the best attitude, always so inclined to help with anything we needed with a big smile. I have to stay this hotel is just gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and very clean, the whole concept and design of the lobby and its kitchen is just pristine. It was a real pleasure staying at this hotel. Would most def recommend!
Great, cosy boutique hotel!
Loved the cosy hotel and the breakfast spread was delicious! Clean rooms and comfortable bed— no complaints here. Great location as well, near to Bairro Alto and Principe Real— Located on a quiet street near many good restaurants and bars.
Located. Near centre of city Staff very friendly and helpful
This is a lovely quirky hotel in Bairro Alto. Walking distance from the funicular down to Rossio. Some interesting bars & restaurants within 10 minute walk, plus one of Lisbon's miradors.
Like a home away from home! Warm and welcoming. The perfect place to recharge after a busy day in the city.
Great staff. Very friendly and helpful
Beautiful building, great location and amazing staff!
Cozy and welcoming botique hotel
Great place i Bairro Alto. Even staying in the best area in Lisboa you don't wanna leave this place. This is the perfect chic botique hotel with a heartly cozy feeling. The lobby/kitchen area is the heart of the hotel and here you relax with vine or coffee in the afternoon and eat their superb breakfast in the morning.
Clean room and excellent breakfast. Only comment it is not for the disabled. Many stairs to the room.
Great staff and experience! They helped make ourbstay extra special!
Very helpful staff. Enjoyed common room very much.
great atmosphere, great breakfasts
Great set-up and charming friendly people.
An all-round good experience. A perfect base from which to enjoy the city.
Great way to experience the old town of Lisbon.
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Das Janelas Com Vista. Staying in an historic building in the middle of the old city helped us to appreciate Lisbon. The property is in very good condition, very clean, and service was outstanding. Breakfast was very good as well, fresh and well-prepared. There are a lot of stairs to climb, especially if you stay on the top floor as we did, and that might be a concern for some folks.
Don’t hesitate to book here
This place was PERFECT! The service was lovely they would do anything they could to help whether that was a place for dinner or helping with getting our car unclamped because we parked in the wrong place! It’s convenient to the best parts of Lisbon but in a nice quiet street for you to rest.
Wow - how soon can I come back?
We arrived late on a Sunday evening & the girl on reception had already phoned a few local tapas bars to check that they were open on Sundays..... We had the best room with fabulous views. It didn’t bother us that we had to climb 60 stairs to get there as, once you have walked up & down hill all day, a few extra stairs don’t matter!! The bed was large & very comfortable. The room was funky. It wasn’t massive but large enough with a small balcony. The bathroom was spacious & the shower was great. We only brought hand luggage & so my husband couldn’t bring his razor. I had thought we would have to go & but him one but there was a mini shaving kit waiting for him. There wasn’t a TV in our room but we didn’t feel it was missing. There wasn’t tea & coffee making in the room either but guests were welcome to use the kitchen. There was a large room in the basement that was hotel reception / breakfast area / kitchen / bar / lounge. It was all very informal. One morning a business meeting was taking place & they were seating on sofas while people are breakfast around them.... The orange juice was freshly squeezed every day & you could help yourself to as much as you liked. There are 12 rooms (I think) &, when asked, a girl said they use 12KG of oranges per day.... The hotel was well situated with plenty of Tapas bars a short walk away. When we stay in Lisbon again we will definitely stay here again
Full of character but no parking
Adorable decor and welcoming staff. Location is excellent but parking was a struggle and an extra cost. You don't really need a car in Lisbon but because we drove down from Porto, we needed a place to park. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Not a superior room.
We paid for a superior room but the bath didn’t work and we had to fill it up with the shower. The air con was not working and to cool the room down we had to open the windows which had a really loud generator outside going all night. We did not sleep very well at all which was the whole purpose of having a hotel room. Our city view was a view of a derelict building right outside our room which was not a nice sight. However the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly.
Very peaceful hotel!!
Very peaceful hotel close to the restaurants area in Bairro Alto!! very good breakfast and great staff!
Lovely boutique hotel
Beautiful boutique hotel in Barrio Alto. The rooms were lovely with nice big bathrooms. Very friendly staff. The location was perfect, very easy to walk to a lot of the major sights and a short distance from Rossio train station. Delicious breakfast each day. Highly recommend!
Lovely hotel in Bairro Alto. Very central to everything while being on a small, quiet, residential street. Everyone is nice and accommodating. This hotel is an oasis in central Lisboa.
This is not a Hotel but a B&B
The hotel has no elevator and no privacy in the lounge/ dining room. Too many stairs. Inconvenient location. Breakfast was nice. Friendly staff.
All around awesome hotel!
The hotel was wonderful! The hotel staff went out of there way to make sure we were happy and knew our way around! Hotel beautifully decorated and prime location in Barrio Alto. Highly recommend you consider this hotel if your staying in Lisbon.
Charming hotel with excellent breakfast. Good location in Barrio Alto area. Helpful staff.
Best Stay
We loved it from the moment we walked in which was way before check in. They were amazing offering us breakfast - it was so homey and inviting.
Very comfortable and well run. I loved the attention to detail and hospitality. The location is perfect.
Lisbon gem
Nice stay at Casa das Janelas Com Vista. All the Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.
Lovely hotel
Great hotel. Excellent staff and gorgeous decor! When booking pay attention to size of room. I booked a small room and it was really small. No room to open your suitcase! Nice view of Lisbon. Excellent breakfast!
Great service by staff. 24 hrs available. Beautiful building, showers are modern despite being in such an older building Great breakfast
Nice quiet and well kept
Service was excellent- staff was friendly and accommodating. Very personable bunch. Rooms were as expected, smaller than hotel standards but clean and we'll taken care of. Breakfast in the morning was nice and had a 'home cooked' feel.
Nice area close to restaurants
Reception was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms a bit tight but it's Europe. Would stay there again.
Great property in Barrio Alto
Small B and B in Barrio Alto. Do not be afraid that you will be kept awake by the notorious nightlife activities associated with this district. It is on a quiet street and not close to bars although there are many within walking distance. Great breakfast and the room was very clean. There was no television, if that is important. Also, no elevator so you will have to carry your bags upstairs. The young staff is VERY friendly and helpful. I definitely would stay here again if we return to Lisbon.
One of the best Hotel in Lisbon!
Fantastic stay, fantastic service, fantastic room! I highly recommend. The only downside is the location, as it is in Barro Alto so you have to walk from the station and with a luggage it can be exhausting.
Nice hotel close to it all but also quiet.
Loved the atmosphere at Casa das Janelas Com Vista. The upscale bohemian atmosphere is such a lovely respite from uninspired hotels. The staff was very helpful and attentive.
I will return!
Friendly, tasteful, great location, good views, excellent breakfast. Staff who love to help.
It's in the old part of Lisbon
It has lots of character Hotel was hip and funky I loved hanging out at breakfast because it felt as if I was in a really cool cafe Breakfast was great and plentiful They had fresh mangoes and melon, heaven
Beautiful views. Attentive staff
The outside made us a bit nervous because it appeared run down/poor neighborhood. But as soon as we were buzzed in and saw the beautifully cozy lobby, we felt comfortable. It's a great neighborhood to walk to many of the major attractions. The breakfast was an amazing spread of amazing food from homemade croissants 5 different fresh cut fruits and many more hot foods.
Boutique hotel in fab location
Great hotel with cool decor, helpful staff, and a great location - on a quiet street but close to everything. We were greeted with a welcome glass of wine and a beer. Breakfast buffet had lovely fresh fruit and even gluten free options. Wifi worked well. Our room was on the river view side and got lovely afternoon sun and sunset. Street parking was difficult but there was a nearby lot for 13€/day (car not necessary as walking distance to everything but we happened to have one with us).
Good location, very rich breakfast with handmade croissants, helpful staff members trying to create an at-home atmosphere which they succeed in doing.
Nice staff. Excellent breakfast buffet.
We had a taxi incident upon arrival at the airport. He drove us to the wrong area. We had to find another taxi to reach the casa. The driver had to ask about ten different people where was this casa... We had excellent service at the desk. The breakfast buffer was superb. Drinks and juices at the casa were expensive. It was close to two train stations which made visiting Sintra easy. The area is not the best one at night for females. But it is full of bars and restaurants.
Hip and Cozy Hotel!
We loved this hotel! While our room was small, it had a fantastic view over the city and the river. It was cozy and quiet. Best part about this hotel, besides location, is the awesome communal area /kitchen downstairs, and the amazing breakfast (free/included)!! Very friendly staff, too. Definitely would stay here again.
Disappointing place with "false" management.
This was a disappointing place to stay. The bed has bugs on them and the management could not get rid of them. Each night we had to get them to replace our beddings. Each night they promised that the management would compensate us or fix the problem but then nothing happened. It as a seriously disappointing experience. While things happen, the management's false promises was a turn off. Be sincere rather than give false promises to the patrons. The living area with the kitchen and breakfast were good. I would not necessarily recommend this place to anyone.
Cute, funky hotel in Lisbon
Cute, funky room and eccentric hotel. Wonderful breakfast and lovely staff. Downside is walls are thin and the "queen" bed was really two twins pushed together. Still, great decor, vibe, and view from room 7 was incredible.
fantastic hotel in a quiet street of bairro alto
this little hotel is very comfortable and has a great atmosphere. it is located in the heart of bairro alto, but in a quiet street with no restaurants and bars. that is a great advantage because the district of bairro alto can get very busy and noisy. as the whole area, the hotel building is very old, but nicely renovated and kept up very good. the staff is very friendly and helpful, ready to accommodate all of your needs. excellent breakfast with a variety of fruit, cereal, pastry and eggs.
Nice stay
Super friendly staff day and night. The reception area is well decorated, full of retro furniture and very comfortable. Many of the hotel guests like to chill there and everyone is very friendly. Only downside our room was quite basic and the shower not so easy to control the temp.
Great option in Lisbon
Staff couldn't be friendlier. Great view from the room.
Diamond in the rough
Fabulous little hotel. The staff were so helpful and made excellent restaurant recommendations. The decor was stylish but comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms don't have TVs or radios so if that's important to you, you may not want to stay here. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in the middle of a trendy neighbourhood then this is the place for you.
Unauthorized charges to credit card.
We had to leave due to a seriously unclean room (sheets were not replaced and bed was full of stains and hair - yuk! and shower drain didn't drain leaving you up to your ankles in dirty water.) Having discovered this at 11pm they didn't have another clean room to move us to, instead gave us "clean" sheets to remake the bed to make it through the night. The next day we showed the concierge and she agreed to compensate us by not charging for the night as we left to spend the rest of our time in Lisbon at the Sofitel. Upon return, I see the hotel made an unauthorized charge to my credit card despite our agreement and attempts to contact been ignored. Still trying to dispute this.
Little sanctuary in the barrio alto
Lovely hotel with a great atmosphere. A nice communal living area that is great for breakfast, for hanging out, or for escaping the city for a moment. Very friendly staff.
One night in Lisbon center
Hotel located in a narrow and quiet street, within walking distance from the center of Lisbon. Cosy atmosphere of the lobby, welcoming and helpful staff, clean and convenient bedroom with large bathroom. Everything you can expect for a short (or not so short) stay in Lisbon.
Booking up fast!
Wish we could have stayed longer... A warm and friendly, stylish B&B, good location, delicious breakfast and very helpful pleasant staff. Highly recommend it!
First time in Lisbon
Fantastic hosts who were always helpful with any requests. Breakfast was a real treat - almost anything you could ask for was available and the room was more than comfortable.
Perfect hotel, perfect location, wonderful staff
I absolutely adore this hotel and look forward to coming back as a tourist rather than on business! The location is perfect, the breakfast is delicious, the staff are very polite and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!
My favourite hotel!
My favourite hotel of 2014! I stay in hotels every week for work so the standard is high! stayed! But this is my favourite hotel and I now get excited just at the thought of visiting Lisbon because of the hotel!
Near perfect!
There are so many wonderful things about Casa Das Janelas - the first of which is the excellent service. Every single one of the front desk staff members was so helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel itself is beautiful - quirky, eclectic, "off the beaten path" a bit so as to avoid the super-touristy Baixa / Chiado area, which we loved. Be prepared for a climb up to the top of the hill if you're arriving at Rossio or Chiado metro stations! The best parts of the hotel: cleanliness, lovely breakfast (same every day, but very good nonetheless), an excellent shower with plenty of hot water and pressure, fantastic view from our room, and as mentioned the excellent staff. The not-so-great parts: the mattress in our room was pretty darn uncomfortable, unfortunately (although we are used to a tempur-pedic), and the room itself was so small we had to jump over the bed to allow the other person to walk around the bed. We knew the room was very small going into it, so this wasn't a huge problem, although if I were to stay here again I would definitely upgrade to a larger room with a view. The balcony helped ease some of our claustrophobia from the room size! We loved sitting in the main living area to have tea in our socks and yoga pants (haha) after a long day of sight-seeing. All in all, a lovely place with lots to offer the a specific kind of traveler. If you're looking for something unique, affordable, yet still chic/contemporary and funky/cool, this is the place.
Perfection
My friends and I absolutely loved staying at this charming b&b! We were there for 5 nights but it only took walking in to feel like we were in somebody's home. The decor is incredible, very modern yet cosy. The staff were accommodating and generous helping with tips to see the city. The breakfast was our favorite part, so delicious! Overall, we felt like we couldn't have made a better choice.
Lovely Place
The best staff, so nice, helpful and friendly Perfect location in Lisbon. Perfect morning breakfast in a charming central, inviting reception room. Perfect breakfast, wonderful food, a social event if desired. Rooms are very nicely decorated, older style wooden floors. Beds are comfortable with good linens. Bathrooms are HUGE with great showers, and all you need (hairdryers, good towels, and really good shower heads). Very centrally located in Bairo Alto, near everything. I will always return to Casa Das Janelas when I return to Lisbon.
Modern in an old neighborhood
Superior breakfast. Extremely odd and inaccessible location! Steep narrow streets (even with GPS the texi driver needed 3 attempts to find the right entrance). Not for the faint of heart.
Sooo hard to find
Great quirky B&B style modern hip hotel with great service but its on a one way cobblestone back street on a steep hill with no parking. We had to march down brutal steep streets to public parking. DO NOT DRIVE IN LISBON. Cool buffet breakfast, great front desk people who made great restaurant recommendations and set up a tuk tuk tour of the town. We had 3 50lb suitcases and a viewless room on 3d floor. NO ELEVATOR. Staircase was hot. I was drenched in sweat and feared a heart attack by the time we got to our room. Other than that I still recommend it warmly.
Casa Das Janelas Com Vista | Hotel in Lisbon | Travala.com
There was an issue with the hot water so we had to shower in the employee’s bathroom of their sister property. I also woke up with insect bites around my arm and leg (although I slept with the windows closed). I am not sure it it was bed bugs or some other insect but definitely not a mosquito. The sheets and everything looked clean but something was off.
