Perfection

This is a fabulous hotel from the friendly welcome at reception to the comfort of the room. Excellent snacks from the bar in the evening. Having a minibar was a bonus and worth the extra for the beautiful crystal glasses provided. Having a car pass for the garage was also a bonus. The beds are really comfortable with high quality bed linen.

This is a really great hotel where the standards of cleanliness and comfort are very high. Dinner and lunch were both delicious and there is a good atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff are courteous. I would stay here again if I visit Haarlem in the future.

The hotel is situated just outside the centre of Haarlem 5 minutes walk from the Frans Haals museum. It is very easy to get to be car and parking is very convenient. All you want to see is walkable. As well as restaurant in hotel there is an excellent bistro and a first class Italian within minutes of the hotel. Staff very friendly and most helpful.

We’ve stayed at The Carleton many times. It is convenient to Schiphol airport by car. Parking is available under ground. The location is ideal for accessing the pedestrian friendly main streets in Haarlem. Breakfast is plentiful, although I miss the raisin buns. However, the carpet needs changing, the rooms need a new coat of paint, lighting in the bedrooms is insufficient especially in the upcoming long winter days. Air conditioning is NON-existent unfortunately, despite advertising that claims it is available. A noisy fan does blow air, but it doesn’t cool the room at all! This is an on-going issue and should be addressed as the days, even in NL become hotter during the summer/late fall days. Opening a window isn’t always an option when it’s hot outside, wet outside and/or noisy outside. Sadly the hotel is looking tired. That said, we will return.

I had an unexpected overnight layover in AMS, and found this hotel online. Easy to get to by bus or by car service from the airport, next to a park in a quiet neighborhood, with a great breakfast. The only drawback is the lack of gym or fitness room, but a walk in the park is quite pleasant. museums and other restaurants nearby too.

Old mattresses, definitely need updating

Had a quaint, small town feel, with top notch amenities. Desk clerks did everything possible to help us: directions, bus route, etc. Room temp, mattress and pillow were just right! Highly recommend.

Stayed here a couple of times and would go again if in Haarlem.

2nd time staying here

Air conditioning was broken days before I booked - no notice of that. Checked in at 9pm and was only told about it AFTER I had checked in. It was too late to change to a different hotel. Didn’t sleep a wink on account of it being so hot in my room. Very deceitful.

Our family of four stayed here for 5 nights and loved it! Very comfortable beds and lots of bathroom counter space. Air conditioner worked very well. Hotel at the edge of the shopping area, so lots of dining options. Train station 25 minute walk, central bus station right around the corner - we took the bus to Amsterdam, then the train back. Front desk staff very helpful. Would absolutely stay again.

Excellent hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carlton Square. Our room was nicely furnished and decorated. The hotel is close to restaurants and attractions such as the Frans Hals museum, and a reasonable walk to the Haarlem city center. A great value.

Nicely placed just off the centre but very close to the City Centre. Facilities, staff and food all great.

It went beyond my expectation.

I stayed here at the end of a long trip, tired and feeling unwell. We had a beautiful room with a park view, an exceedingly comfortable bed, free mini bar and a good restaurant. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. It was a great place for rest and recovery and Haarlem is a wonderful small city with lots to enjoy. A real haven after some hard travel.

Everything was really pleasant and lovely. Nice staff and comfortable surroundings.

Especially grateful for garage parking for our very large van. $22.50 for overnight

Great, quaint place with close walking distance to the train station

Your hotel is lovely and your staff was very accommodating

The room was large and clean. The soaking tub was a great luxury. When we complained about the room being cold the staff quickly came up to show us the radiator controls and even brought up a space heater in case we need it. Needless to say we found the staff to be very attentive and gracious. The restaurant was informal but served excellent food that was well presented and prepared. The breakfast buffet is excellent. We will stay there again when we visit Haarlem.

Beautiful hotel - exceptional staff

Great staff. Quiet area. Small hotel. One thing, deluxe room included all of the minibar, but curiously did not include breakfast. Unusual for Europe.

This hotel was very nice. The hotel was located in a quiet neighborhood about 30 minutes outside Amsterdam center. The restaurant was very good, with a great breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly, although some seemed to be new and not that well informed about hotel policies.

The Carlton is in a delightful location close to a shopping area and walking distance to any attraction in Harlem. The staff is professional and the standards are high. The restaurant on the ground floor is convenient and the breakfast is a bargain. I will return here when I visit Amsterdam, which is twenty minutes away via bus and train.

Nice

We had a nice three night stay. For the price there should have been an espresso machine in the room. As well, it was loud in the mornings with what we believe to be the housekeeping staff going in and out of the rooms and not propping the doors open. Otherwise a pleasant stay

This was a very small room just outside of the Centrum. So, the location wasn't as convenient as many of the other places within the Centrum. They do have a nice bar and restaurant area

It's very close to a nice shopping area. The bus stop from Haarlem Central train station is right outside.

Only spent 1 night in transit. Overall the hotel was good. Room was spacious but the HVAC made a lot of noise. Felt it was a bit overpriced for what it was. Would stay again if the price.

Nice big room super comfortable clean and quiet

Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet surroundings. Their restaurant Zocher offers beer that is custom-brewed for them and it's good. Both the IPA and the blonde. You can walk (or bike) safely to all of the main attractions in Haarlem.

Room was too hot as the AC is usually turned off during the winter months.

Outside Amsterdam/easy access everywhere

Lovely hotel out of the noise and bustle of Amsterdam; easy access from this hotel to downtown Amsterdam. Location is central in Haarlem and transportation to/from the airport is easy.

Great stay in holland

Great location, just outside of centrum. Perfect for a car trip and schiphol..take the bus to the train. Restaurant has a great breakfast buffet, get the barista to make an americano..she is fantastic and so helpful! and restaurant is very good! Fish and chips were better than in london...

Misleading information

The hotel is very nice and in a good location. They charged me more than I had been quoted from your site because of currency exchange rates. They also did not give me the room that i booked. Noking beds.

3 night stay in Haarlem

Lovely helpful staff. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. 15 minute walk to the very pretty market square. 25 minutes walk to the station (frequent trains to Amsterdam less than 20 minutes by train). All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would stay in Haarlem over staying in Amsterdam as it is a more laid back place with good restaurants

Good hotel, great staff, perfect location

Warm and efficient welcome from very friendly staff. Lovely, comfortable hotel in centre of this beautiful city. One small quibble, the queen bed was two distinct halves, impossible to sleep in the middle and was a little lumpy and old.

The hotel staff are excellent, and the hotel has a nice restaurant and bar. The location is ideal. Close to all the restaurants and shops, as well as busses. Yet, you’re located on a park away from the hustle and bustle. I will return.

They have bicycle rentals (e-bike and regular) directly from the hotel. The regular bikes cost 22.50 Euros per day, plus a 5 Euro city tax.

Excellent option that is close to everything, yet on a quiet park. Wonderful staff and good restaurant onsite. Will be back!

central location and very clean

I loved this hotel. The location was quiet, across from a park, but still very central. The breakfast was elaborate, the coffee delicious, the staff cheerful, the room gorgeous, the beds extremely comfy...everything about it was wonderful...Sigh. My only wish was thay we could have stayed longer! It was such a great choice to stay here instead of in Amsterdam. Ill never forget it.

Front desk people are wonderful. Helped me get my Covid test results printed, boarding pass printed, and gave good advice re restaurants and museums. Pleasant and helpful.

It was very clean, good service, beautiful view, nice bathroom products and good coffee in the cafe.

Luxury hotel close to center of Haarlem

Carlton Square is a comfortable hotel close to the city center of Haarlem. All highlights are within 20 minutes walking but the hotel is in a quiet area. The luxury room had came with a nice big bathtub, comfortable double bed and sitting area. Staff is very helpful, hotel is clean and well-kept. The restaurant in the hotel offers delicious food for a good price ( we fully enjoyed the five course surprise menu).

Excellent hotel

We absolutely loved this hotel. It was the first hotel we stayed in that made us really re-think ever staying in an Airbnb again. Location great, 20 minute walk from the Haarlem Train Station, 10-15 walk from Grotesque Markt, around the corner from shops and restaurants. The room was very clean, bed was so comfortable, across from a small park. Highly recommend you reserve for the breakfast. Latter served buffet style, with such a variety of offerings. You will not be hungry the rest of the day. Scooter and bike rentals available if you want an alternative to walking or taking public transport. The staff were gracious and professional. They allowed us early checkin by two hours which we were so grateful of. Hotel interior also very pretty with outdoor seating and inside seating available. Very impressed with the hotel, would highly recommend a stay there.

Good choice

Very nice hotel with a very friendly staff and perfect location

The hotel is in a good location and generally clean however the service in particular in the restaurant is really below where it needs to be for a 4 star hotel. Long waits, at times rude waitresses.

I like the attached resturaunt, staff was very friendly, and the room was very clean, my only complaint was whoever cleaned the room did move my belongings, this was not a problem, but alot of people from my country frown upon this as they would vecomeconcerned about the security of there property

Great stay!

We had an incredible stay. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. We found the duvet a little warm but the hotel staff changed it to a lighter one and cooled down our room while we were away, which was so kind! It was in a great location, close to everything! Would definitely stay here again.

Easy to find, very convenient parking should you have a car, walking distance to many sites and restaurants, very comfortable bed, and great breakfast complete with made to order cappuccinos!

Just an OK 3 star hotel

The hotel is just OK, nothing special. It's a 3 star hotel advertised by Hotels.com as a 4 star category hotel. Smaller room and bathroom, slightly outdated, but clean. Sadly I cannot recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel. Really nice room, well located. It also had a bar with very nice staff who gave us great ideas on how to spend our time in Haarlem. It was our first day there and that was really helpful. The room was nice, the bed comfortable. Can't ask for much more than that.

Hotel thoughtfulness and extra efforts.

It was amazing. The staff helped us with every question that came up. There was a major celebration in the park across the street for two days. We were warned in advance. They left ear plugs for us which was incredibly insightful. Way actually went over to the event and enjoyed it. When coming back to the hotel they had security in front and asked us what we were trying to do entering the hotel. At first I was taken back to be asked to see my room key. In thinking about it I was very appreciative of this act in keeping the hotel safe and went back and told the man thanks for watching out for hotel guests. Really enjoyed the lobby water. The staff was exceptional.

Great stay. Great location to train station - 12 min walk. Nice park near by and lots of restaurants and pubs within 10 minutes. Hotel offers bikes for hire which was a great way to explore.
