The staff are really respectfull, helpfull and the service is very good also the hotel is clean.
The room was extremely small and the breakfasts was miserable, the location was perfect the reception was good overa
My ceiling roof was dusty , drinks in my room was paid services without any indications and was super expensive
Very outdated, dirty carpet and walls, bathroom had a very bad smell, shower has mold. I requested to be moved to a different room and had to pay extra. hotel rooms are nothing like the pictures, very disappointed. Staff is nice though.
They give us two rooms at back side which is have bad looking and dirty
Liked the price, didn’t like the rude receptionist
It a shaddy property, its old hotel with bad bedding n blankets.the woden work in the room is getting very detonating. It looks very beautiful from the picture please do not get carried away by the pictures. The staff is very arrogant. We landed in the hotel at night 3:00am and we had paid for thenight our room was given to someone else as we had booked a 3 beded room. We were made to wait n then given a smaller room. The night manager was very arrogant. The break fast was very ordinary, no one smiles. Had a tough time.
It wasn’t very clean and the there were loud music which you couldn’t sleep
The stay was ‘okay’ the hotel is located in a nice place, the Wi-fi doesn’t quite reach the rooms. The food is amazing. The mattress are quite hard to sleep on.
The bathroom was really dirty and the tub was full of the previous guest's hair. The bedding was also dirty and I saw cockroaches with my own eyes. The lights in the room were not working and the comforters in the closet was full of dust and had a pungent odor. Seriously, this place will ruin your Istanbul experience. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else. The breakfast was decent, but seeing the cockroaches will make you too nauseous to eat.
Its quiet and cosy. The staff are friendly. The location is really convenient for my preferred places. The area is so alive and cheerful. Its my second year to stay in carlton hotel and next year i will stay there too.
Humiliated by manager - worst experience ever
I usually dont write reviews when i have a bad experience as it may have been a one off but this time i was humiliated by the manager and kicked out of the hotel like ive never heard before or experienced. To start with i was in this hotel for a total of 6 days, every one of those six days there was an issue with the safe box and every time i asked the staff to change it he wouldnt and instead repaired and said call me every time u wish to open. Secondly the air conditioning was not working properly and leaked throughout the night which kept me and my wife up at 2am and 4am. The window facing the outside to other rooms was broken in the sense that it would not close wothout using considerable force. The above are some of the issues i experienced but can live with and have done before without complaining. The most upsetting part was partially my fault, i didnt read the check out time on the last day and came back to the hotel to find that all my luggage was downstairs in the lobby packed by the staff. I didnt release at the time why my luggage was downstairs and asked the manager why this happened, he shouted at me and said that he told me yesterday about this (even though i never spoke to him before or even seen him). I asked him not to shout at me as my baby boy and wife and other people were watching but he continued and insulted me and my family. When i said is this how u treat customers, he shouted and said he doesnt care and to get out and kicked me out with my family.
Unreliable HOTEL
They took my reservation and hen I arrived, they said they has no room for me. They were nice enough to find another hotel closeby. After a long travel, this is the last thing one expects. They made no communication about the situation. This appears to be a breach of contract. After all, what is the point of making the reservation. It was a horrible experience.
The worst and cheater Hotel in my life..Don't book
The worst and cheater hotel in my life....i have been send email to this hotel for change my booking but no one response...i have been call so many times to Hotels.com but all irresponsible...Finally for this i lost my Money even i am not check in this hotel now.....they are not understand if peoples have problem for visa...family..etc then unable to travel on same date......I request to all people in the world don't book this hotel forever...Thank you

Not pad
Nice location but bad service and hospitality
The employee wasn't friendly at all he didn't like the odea od expedia reservation and didn't allow us to check in at 11 we had to wait 3 hours in the loby Bad food and not clean
Carlton only 2 starts
the photos shown in the hotel web site are far from the reality, the room we had was not clean and bathroom was small and dursty, matresses are very old and painfull your back, honnestly and without exageration this hotel can get only a rate of 2 starts even with improvement of cleaniness because the facilities are not at the level of 3 or 4 starts.
Great hotel overal
Was cheap rate breakfast was good can't complain area hotel was located not safe to walk at night
Worst
No communication from the staff. Everything is money including water
Good location , cheap price poor customer service
Location is good close to attractions, nice lively street, restaurants around. Rooms was not ready till 2 pm . Booked two double rooms, got 1 room with a double bed and a single bed and the other with two single beds. Which was not we booked. Staff was not helpful with very limited English . No microwave or iron in the room. Not even available on asking. Shower was broken in one room and was repaired after two days and a fight. Over all rooms were clean . Bathrooms were clean . Breakfast is ok better them American continental. Stay can be made better by good customer service. Suana and spa were not free.
Business trip - Carlton hotel
Excellent location. More customer friendly than when I was first there. They seem to be more conscious now about the effect of reviews and referrals.
WOW
IT WAS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Good hotel
It's in great location. Very safe neighborhood and good breakfast. If you are going from US, take electric convertor.
Disappointing although staff were helpful
Stayed for a night in transit. The pics on the website were very misleading - the actual hotel lobby and room are dingy, dark and look depressing. My room looked into a wall and I could look into the adjacent room if my curtains weren't drawn. I was actually very disappointed. The only positive thing is that the staff were friendly and helpful so that made my stay a bit more bearable for a night. Despite what was stated in the website there is no gym in the hotel (u have to use another building's). For breakfast you have to pay extra for omelette and juice. This is definitely not a 4star hotel. I thought I had scored a fantastic deal for what I paid but it turned out not so as this is in fact a 2.5 to 3 star hotel. The neighbourhood consists of wholesale garment shops which is strange but guess that is better than being in a sleazy neighbourhood. Hotels.com should review the pictures and write-up on this hotel to ensure greater accuracy.
small rooms, nice staff, rich breakfast.
Just like most hotels in the area rooms are very small. Cleanse is not the best. Staff are in general speak some English and cooperative. Breakfast has a lot of verities.
Nice hotel
We spent three nights at Carlton hotel. Room was smaller than expected but was nice and clean. Hotel was about 25 minute walk to blue mosque and 10 minute walk to grand bazar. Breakfast was pretty decent.
Definitly not a 4 star hotel! a good budget hotel
Good location! Very close to roman aquaduct and Shahzade Mosque. Within walking distance of Grand bazaar, Topkapi palace, Blue masjid, aya Sophia on one side and Sulemaniye masjid and Spice/Egypt bazaar on the other. Rooms are small unless you ask for three bed room. Amenities very basic. Mattresses are old. Aircon was functional
very clean rooms & paths
perfect . very good service & very kind staff , very clean everywhere I will booking there always when visit Istanbul
Acceptable but not 4 star standard of service
The hotel is conveniently located close to the Grand Bazaar, close to a tram-station, so getting to there via public transport is very easy. I had emailed specifically to inquire about a double-bed, only to arrive to a room with two single bed. Although they did move me to a room fitting the requirements (a double-bed and another single-bed we did not use), it was right next to the air-conditioning unit, which made it noisy whenever the A/C was switched on. As for wifi, they give per-device wifi pass-codes, and the wifi on our floor (first floor) did not work at all. The signal at the lobby was very weak, and downloading any pdf was very slow. Breakfast, included in the price, was okay, but you had to pay extra for fresh juice and omlet. The staff at the reception had passable English and tried to be helpful to a degree. As I was at the reception, a couple arrived very late at night, only to be told the hotel is overbook so they need to go to another hotel for the night. They came back furious as the suggested hotel was 2-star and, according to them, unsuitable. I am not sure how the discussion ended. The receptionist were relentless there was no space and the couple had to take the 2-star offer.
disappointing
The hotel is convenient for the major sites. Wi-Fi is available, but no facilities for printing e.g. our return boarding pass. The room was small and the beds cramped. We had booked a double room and were given a room with three narrow singles. Breakfast was very limited and we avoided it after the first day.
Loved it . .
Me and my friend stayed there, we loved it.
Great location ALMOST makes up for shortcomings
First off, the Carlton Hotel IS NOT a 4-Star Hotel. At most it's a 3-Star, and compared to most North American hotels it would probably be closer to a 2.5. For a 3-star, this hotel would absolute treasure of a find even if it was on the "expensive" side... but as it is advertised and costs what you'd expect an entry-level 4-star to be, so due to that it really isn't worth the money. The daily hot breakfast buffet is incredible by any standard, but that is the only truly unique aspect of the Carlton Hotel and unless you'd like smaller-than-advertised rooms with pervasive smoking in-hotel, it would sadly be very tough to recommend this property. Nevertheless, the location alone, which is only 0.75 to 1.5 miles walking distance to nearly everything of note in Fatih, Istanbul makes it a sure choice for budget-minded world travelers with low expectations, and the staff is very kind and courteous even if they aren't responsive (which can be perceived at times as more a cultural norm).
comfy beds with fantastic service
i never thought it is going to be so comfortable and easy to book my stay in such a wonderful place. highly recomended!
Very average hotel...nowhere near 4*
The staff knew almost no English which would have been fine if they didn't also have a very bad attitude. There were numerous oddities about the hotel - the omelettes at breakfast are charged at 5 TL where as the orange juice is charged at 3 US Dollars...very confusing. Still not sure my room bill was correct when I checked out. Won't be returning.
nice hotel
i've been there for 5 nights. it was a nice stay. 1- the room was comfortable except the air condition , it works for about 30 minutes and then they desactivate it for 15 minutes and then it work on again. and i heard about this from many guestes. i beleive it's to save electricity. but it wasn't a big problem for us as we stayed at hotel a short time during the day. 2-About the breakfast , it was good and there were variety of food, but the same every day. 3-the location was great, it was beside many shops and only 10 minutes away from the metro station and Grand Bazzare. 4- Staff was helpfull and they speak english well. if i will be there again i will think about this hotel again as it was good for our budget ....and i can recommend it to a friend
awful
location was ok, breakfast was ok room was terrible, people in front desk the worst you can imagine they treated us like they were doing us a favor staying there, i hate it!!
Excellent Service
We arrived early in the morning, well before our 14:00 check-in time, but were offered breakfast (complimentary) while we waited for our room to be readied. Immediately after we finished breakfast we were allowed to check-in, enabling us to leave our bags and freshen up before sightseeing.
i was not in the same room watt i book i was put in small room the first night ,i ask to prolong 1 more night the last day i was ask to live because no room was available ,it is the last time i will go to this hotel.
Good mid-priced hotel
We had a pleasant stay here. The service was good, staff was always ready to help answer questions. Our room was fine, our sons had rooms that could use some upgrades but were overall fine. The breakfast was good. The location was good with plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood and the tram close by.
The hotel is quite good as a budget hotel. Safe, clean and comfortable neighborhood
good location
Good location, but not in a walking distance from the most popular historic sites. The staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good. The room was relatively small but ok for a 3-stars-hotel.
Generally hotel .
Not the best hotel in town
Brunch was good, bed horrible, neighboorhood is nice, price is ok, but find anorher more cozy place for the same money.
lacks friendliness - does not deserve 4 stars
The location is ok, close to Grand Bazaar. The Hotel staff lacks friendliness big time! We arrived in a minivan and with a large group of family, one of the Hotel staff suggested to us to park on the sidewalk and made a special price of 10TL "just for us", the whole thing came across rather fishy... The front desk staff greeted us with the question what rate we got for the Hotel and was very unhappy that we got such a good rate through Expedia. Lacks professionalism. For a 4 star Hotel I expect them to speak better English and have better manners with Hotel guests. The rooms are small. The crew that cleans the rooms did not really clean the bathrooms, just put new towels in, stains that existed on the lavabo in the bathroom when we arrived continued to stay there throughout our stay (I started ceaning them myself). All this does not deserve 4 stars. Pros: breakfast. Very good and the staff is friendlier. The Orange Juice is not included... which is kind of funny, but at least it is freshly squeezed.
Good location
Then only thing that was not great, was breakfast...
Two star hotel rather than four star hotel
It is a well located two-star hotel rather than four-star hotel. The rooms are too small and quite neglected. It was dissapointing to realize that the free transfer service to the airport that is announced in their website is false. The breakfast didn't exceed the expectations. I would not recommend it.
Carlton Hotel, Istanbul
The Hotel should be rated a three stars hotel not a four stars hotel. It is an average Hotel. Althouhg the floor carpets have not been cleaned in some time, beds were cleaned and comfortable. Bathrooms were also very clean and towels were changed daily. The furniture is appropirate, with mini bar. They have a terrible policy regarding air conditioning use which should be taken into consideration if you plan to stay during the summer months. The air conditioner will work for one hour, at times, for two hours, some other times, and then shuts. You will have to wait close to one full hour, to turn it on again. I asked in the front desk if there was something wrong with my air conditioner and was told that it was hotel policy to have air conditioners run like that. On a hot night, if you want to sleep comfortable, you will have a hard time doing it. Breakfast are ok. Beware that orange juice, fried eggs or omeletes are not part of the buffet, you have to pay extra for them. Hotel staff is nice and helpful.
lousy
said breakfast was incuded BUT there is an extra charges for fried eggs and juices and we were not informed and aware about this till breakfast finished waiter brought a bill to us. is this a normal practice for all turkey hotel? room A/C was on and off on certain time, i think they want to save energy.
A great experience!!!
It was up to my expectation, Receptionist named "Muhammet" was found very cooperative and helpful. Staff is helpful and always more then ready to help or assist. Great service by them....Location is lil difficult to find but if we can get to hotel by taking train to Aksaray Metro station. Hotel is on 10 mins walk from there. Thank you!!!
Frank
Location is ok, business center does not exist, nor they would not help you to print your iteniary. Room is very small and AIr Conditioning Installed right above bed which is blowing to your head what could make you sick. Breakfast is ok.
nice location in the city center
nice location, service of most of the employees, A/C is not not that timing is not good, ... the overall condition is nice one.
Not impressed
My understanding was that the Hotel at takseem, but it wasn't and location was not very good
Non corrisponde al livello di un hotel con 4 stelle
Erg slechte bedden, klein alle 2 pers.bedden in dit hotel zijn 1.40m dat is totaal niet comfortabel. Ontbijt is ook minimaal. Ligging is prima!
on avait réservé à la dernière minute en ligne 75$. Horrible!!!

worth the money
The hotel staff was very helpful but every new guest had problem with check in. They said the reservation was cancelled and they offer to stay first night in a nearby hotel. Every day of the stay I noticed this kind of situation. Overall, staff was very friendly and helpful.
