Could be beautiful
This hotel is in a beautiful location, right along the Yukon River. It could be wonderful if the owners would put money into upgrades and fixing broken items in the rooms. The halls smell like pot smoke-non smoking hotels should mean all types of smoking.
Not a Great Value unless you’re going for cheap
Pics looked nice on the site here. No breakfast included like the pics showed. Once I pulled up I questioned the security cause seemed like druggies hanging out outside. Clerk was nice. Walking to room, first floor smelled strongly of marijuana in a “non smoking” hotel. Room was spacious, outdated, run down, tv didn’t go on. Chair at desk was a fold out chair. I’m traveling with two dogs and apparently someone complained that they barked and also that I walked down the hall with them to take them outside so I was asked to use another stairwell. For a “pet friendly” hotel it seemed like my dogs were not wanted there. I almost just left after I was asked to use a different stairwell, but I was exhausted from driving. Clean up the place, upgrade it, or keep doing what you’re doing by just making it by with the weed smokers hanging out. Would not stay there again and will not recommend to others!
Swat had to kick in someone’s door Neighbors were loud
This is an older hotel. The room was clean…. meaning there was no bad smells. The bedding was clean with no stains and the surfaces like the side table, dining table and luggage storage area were all clean. I was looking for a hotel that was cost-effective for a weekend stay to visit family. I was also travelling alone and if I had someone travelling with me, I may not have chosen this hotel as the finishings and aesthetic were quite dated. I also brought my white noise machine to muffle out any noises in the hallways, because this was an older hotel. The noises were nothing unusual. This is a good place for a solo traveller who is checking out Whitehorse or are stopping in for a short visit with family.
Noisy
Well, i did not set my expectations that high based on the price i got, it is fair but it does not mean cleanliness will be neglected. We had a fire incident.
Nothing like what the website showed, was completely uncomfortable but was to tire to find something else. The girl at the desk was pleasant but the motel was awful. Would not have paid 50$ to stay there had I known what it was actually like, and terrible noisy guest of questionable behaviour and probably using drugs
The staff are very nice and had no issue with them, however, upon entering the hotel, I noticed that the rooms were absolutely disgusting. I didn’t even sleep under the covers. There was even a swastika on one of the doors not to mention that it was right beside a very, very sketchy bar and although the reviews online said that it was a three star hotel, I would say that it was a two star to one star hotel, given the fact that I did not feel safe parking my truck outside of it, even in front of the camera I ended up leaving a night early due to the fact that I felt unsafe
Staff was helpful, guests not so much.
Staff was great and the room was decent. The hotel guests were not the best. I woke up multiple times to people screaming and slamming doors. I did not get a lot of rest.
Staff were fine. Room was mostly clean. The whole place smells like an ashtray with whiffs of nursing home. Parking is a complete mess. It seems most of the rooms are rented long term to people who don't work. We got asked for money multiple times. Thankfully there are cameras all over- it's next to a few bars and people were across the parking "area" all night. The couple in the room next to us were fighting, yelling and throwing things at the walls and slamming doors most of the night. Cops were in and out the whole time.
The room had a bit of damage and pretty dirty. The bathroom was banged up and not very clean. There was no breakfast as well.
Beautiful place perfect just perfect !
Police were called due to an altercation, not expected to have that
Awful hotel!!
If you are looking for the WORST hotel stay in Canada look no further! Absolutely terrifying and disgusting stay. Included 1. People doing hard drugs on the hotel balcony 2. People stealing stuff out of truck beds in the parking lot 3. People yelling and fighting in hallway 4. Floors that are separating and have moisture coming up them 5. A bed that might as well just be a box spring! Honestly you might as well save your money and stay in gas station bathroom for a cheaper, safer, cleaner experience 🙄 0/10 would not recommend
Not as bad as some of the other reviews make it seem. It’s a fine hotel for a night. Older and shows age, but it’s clean enough and the bed was new. Only thing was that it was REALLY loud from the hallways, you could hear everything. I still slept fine, but I had earplugs.
I like that it’s close to the Yukon River and walking paths
Awful stay The people in the room next to me were up and fighting all night Big homeless population in front of the hotel
Cold. Creepy people outside. Limited parking. Old.
Can't stay in a room because terrible pee smells covered with chemicals and perfume. Flooring planks felling appart and drunk neighbors.Left my booking and sleeping in a truck!
Very friendly staff, i always enjoy my time in whitehorse
Very few lights in the main area.
Unfortunately, very poor conditions. Only thing that was good were the ladies at the front desk.
There was no heat
Service is good and rooms are very clean
Don’t stay here. This place needs shut down. Drunks or druggies up and down the hallway all night long yelling and stomping and it smells like moldy wet wood. It’s gross. The receptionist was a very nice lady though.
It was dark, in terrible condition, cold because the window wouldn't close and the heat wouldn't turn on. Staff did give us xtra blankets.
Its a little dingy with bad insulation for sound but it was clean and the staff was very nice
Surprisingly in a cool neighborhood with museum, shops, beautiful riverfront path. It’s an old outdated worn hotel that they are renovating. It said “pet friendly” surprised to get charged an extra $30 for having a dog but half the price of Quality Inn around corner where lobby smelled of raw sewage. Overdose death 3 doors down old dark smelly hallway 5 minutes after arriving left us feeling kind of gloomy but glad to have deadbolt and window for fresh air.
Good price and conveniently located.
The property is a little run down, does not seem to welcome you. Room clean but uncomfortable. We really did not like the hotel to take 200$ from our card ? and had to call back after 5 days to ask for that money back. We got it back after our call. The only one positive is the price for the room
Comfortable bed and warm shower
The beds and room was clean andcomfortable
The room was in good condition and clean, but the bathroom was not. The bathroom door door could hardly be closed. The floor creaked a lot, as if it was going to fall down, and the shower wasn't very clean. We only got towels for 2 people, even though there were 3 of us
Property and furnishings are worn out, but the rooms were clean and I felt safe.
decent for the price, for one quick night before we head out on our trip
Friendly and quick check in. Hotel is a bit dated. But room was comfortable.
We were charged more for security deposit than for the room and we won’t get it back to our card for at least 2 weeks. The cost for the room was less than other motels in the town but very expensive for what you get. Wouldn’t stay again.
I walked into a dirty room. Like filthy!!! There was other people's food in the fridge there was hair all over the sink and bathtub I wrapped myself up in towels because I was too afraid to lay on the sheets. I had to check myself out with a Post-It note because staff weren't even at the desk. Also within 2 minutes of me checking in the place was flooded with cops. Unsafe and so disgusting.
Do not stay there! Dirty rooms, hairs all over the bed...smell...noise... Never again!!!
Grunting meth smoker outside for three hours turns out to be guest. Many bars close, bad area. Dead bolt on door doesn’t line up and lock. Disgusting splatter on bathroom and room door.
paper thin walls, run down bathroom, police called for fight in neighboring room.
Door frame visibly broken from forced entry at some point, beds made but room in disarray. Staff seemingly instructed to refuse all refunds, buyer beware.
Nice hotel with affordable price!
The staff was good, the location was close to everything we wanted to see. The place was run down and needs some help.
The plumbing noise was sometimes interesting, otherwise quite a clean, crisp stay in a great centralized location
3degree inthe night, but no heating in room.
Next to Yukon River path was a bonus!
The only thing i liked was it had instant hot water
Nice location. Bathroom needs some new upgrades.
this is a "no frills" place and I slept like a baby. easy walk to the whole town
Property was overpriced and had some maintenance issues. Thermostat on the wall didn’t produce heat and a space heater was in the room was the source of heat after talking to front desk.Television didn’t work and they had no solutions on how to remedy the situation. Parking was very limited and it wasn’t very well signed for alternate space. All and all it wasn’t satisfactory.
Every three days they clean their room, no towels no toilet papers not clean. Fan doesn’t work breakfast. there is coffee maker, but no tea and only one bag of coffee for three days. That is funny. I hope they listen to the voice of the customer.
DIRTY, NOISEY UNSAFE
Not properly maintained.
Visited this property on a long roadtrip. This property looks nothing like the pictures online. The property smells quite funny as well. The room I was in the bed was half broken and leaning on the rightside.( one roll and youre on the floor) The floor was dirty and filled with old stains and paint specks. There was no hot water in shower however it was hot water coming from sink. The Sushi restaurant was great! Good food fast service and the front desk was very helpful. Definitely a lower end hotel.
Clean in the rooms but hallways could use some upgrading.
A hole sadly Canada, I know you have better
This hotel was terrible no hot water. The staff was unfriendly. There were three nightclubs next to it. There was no parking generally unsafe especially with the family. I recommend you stay away from this hotel. Do not give it any patronage do the fact that it’s located a very shady and not very hospitable and to wake up and not be able to get a hot shower and you have a cold shower not good especially for the family.
whitehorse visit
no AC on a very hot day. Not a very nice area of town. People doing drugs right below our window. Lots of homeless people. Poor parking. The woman at check in was very rude
The property is dated. It could use a bit of freshening up. The hotel is in a convenient location but just run down. Information on your website is outdate & even though it is advertised as breakfast included there is NO food on site at all.
They took my money even though I never checked in there
This place is very bare bones. The bed was fine and clean but I didn’t want to touch much else in the room. It is certainly not worth nearly $200 a night. Do not stay here if you can help it.
I liked the price. I didn’t like the fact that there was no air conditioning.
Older motel (could use upgrading)
It is an older motel that hasn't had much upgrades. For the price, it was good but as a single lady traveling, I would not recommend. The window in my room would not close or lock which made me nervous during the night.
No room cleaning service, hot water supply broken
Terrible
Cold Water Challenge
Got there and they said they had no hot water. They said we could cancel, but I would have to call Expedia. Also they don't have AC.
No hot water. No a/c just a small fan.
Checked out after 5 mins. Sheets were dirty. stains all over the door. Area felt very unsafe.
We were not advised that there was no hot water when we checked in, only to be advised that they didn’t know when it would be back on… it finally did the morning we checked out. The bed sheets had not been changed as there was dirty feet prints inside the made bed. There were several dirty napkins or tissues under the bed and the floors were filthy.
No hot water
Expedia would be wise to drop this property
The floor tiles were sticking up creating a trip threat , the bathroom was dirty ,no plug for the bath tub unable to take a bath neighbor hood was scary with drug people hanging around, was afraid to leave my car parked at site. The ceiling above the bed was cracked and about to fall , The advertised information didn't match the actual place.I also have photos to confirm this rating.
One star for me
If I can give them a zero star, i would. I never leave a business with something negative to say. Sheets didnt look and feel clean, although it says no smoking, the sheets and the room both smell like smoke. It was awful. Additionally, this is the only hotel that i have been that does not HAVE HOT WATER. Paying the amount of money to stay here is just so sad. I would recommend other travelers to look elsewhere.
Very convenient and comfortable
Too expensive
We will never go back there again. First of there was no hot water, people were partying all night long. Front desk was no help at all. We had to drive 12 hours the next day being tired and with grumpy kids.
The staff were fantastic.
Checked in after a long day of driving and learned very quickly that there is no hot water at this place. I called the front desk and was told that “too many people were using the hot water” and that they were out. She told me she would light the boiler (seemed odd that it wouldn’t be on?) After looking further into the google reviews, I’ve realized that these owners purposely turn off the hot water to the entire hotel in an attempt to save a buck. The night manager then lied to me as well when I enquired 2 hours later, saying that it would be hot soon. I checked again two hours later before going to sleep, again the water was ice cold. This is absolutely insane. I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels all over the world, and have not encountered service like this in budget third world country motels. There is no AC in this hotel, the window was opened when we got there but you will roast in the warm months. Beds were not very comfy but that wouldn’t typically concern me. I’ve never in my life left a negative review, but felt the need to as I would strongly recommend to anyone thinking of booking here that they look elsewhere.
This hotel is on the lower end of scale. When we arrived they charged 200.00 for incidentals and damages. When we entered the room, it smelled of smoke. Additionally, there was no A/C… so it was a bit warm! There was a crack in the ceiling and the water in shower was running. The room rate was good at 14X.00. Overall this hotel needs some improvement and remodeling.
Pretty dirty, found hairs in my bed, no hot water so i couldn't shower, walls are thin so very noisy
Just Don’t
No hot water and the surroundings did not seem safe. Don’t be fooled by the pictures.
No hot water
Clean guest laundry, generous coffee in room. Staff was friendly, helpful, and professional; room clean, quiet, and comfortable. Yes, the place is old. If you want a fully modern room for a night's sleep in Whitehorse, i think you can find one for about twice the price.
No Elevator, bad neighbors in the hood. restaurant closed, window broke open to noise. older place, parking a little tight.
We have been on the road, and arrived later than expected. When we got there, there were about sketchy people just sitting outside the front door. This made me and my mom very uncomfortable. Then when we went to shower there was no hot water. Overall we just felt unsafe at night and there was no hot water.
No hot water. Parking insufficient and inconvenient. No A/C (fan only, open window). No heat in room. Hotel overall in poor condition!
Is an older building. Some updates have been done, but it's still a little rustic - I could use some more and has some of the characteristics of an older building. That said, it was functional. After a 3 week backcountry trip it was nice. Staff were good as was the location, tv and coffee machine.
Bed base was not aligned
This place is a dive. It's cheap and was the only place available when I arrived in Whitehorse. I'll sleep in my truck next time.
The property provided a place to sleep and shower on our way through Whitehorse. The beds were below average for comfort. There was little air circulation other than a floor fan.
Stayed on the top floor in the summer. No air conditioning, was uncomfortably warm.
Premises looks as if minimal time is spent on appearance. Unkept feel.
No staff at front desk has to wait to check in until someone would randomly come . Dirty rooms . Broken toilet that the staff wouldn’t help fix or change us rooms . Broken beer bottles in front entrance doors . N I screen on windows and people look into room windows
Clean room Great place to sleep. Close to everything.
It's nice enough and affordable. The soundproofing between the hall and the rooms is very poor so my sleep disturbed by loud people in the halls at night. Things were decent other than this.
Old place no ac.
Older hotel. Clean. Good location.
Read the reviews online, bed bugs, dirty, drunk and homeless people hanging around. Cant believe you even reccomend this place. Too bad that you have a no refund policy
Nice basic motel with a reasonable price. For motorcycle people, they offered free indoor secure parking for your bike, nice to know it was safe.
Canadas Best Value Inn River View Hotel | Hotel in Whitehorse | Travala.com
Cheap place to crash. But, walls paper thin, creaky floors, bums hanging around entrance, noisy at night, cigarette butts all over ground at main entrance, mediocre rooms, smell of smoke in hallways. Here are the positives… the hotel is close to downtown, near river front, near decent dining, pretty cheap.
