Great location in San Ignacio. Right next to Cahal Pech Ruins and close to the market. Hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. Good bar. Nice restaurant. The cabana room views were nice. Room was a little outdated and pillows need to be replaced for a better sleep. Improved beds would greatly enhance a stay at this resort!
Two beautiful nights at Cahal Pech Resort
The cabana was clean, tidy and comfortable. We especially liked the grass roof and screen porch with hammock - and tropical birds in the trees next to our place. Incredible view of San Ignacio below!!! Employees at the service desk were friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar had good food and drinks - wait staff very friendly and courteous! Overall, an excellent stay while visiting Tikal National Park in Guatemala!
Incredible view and stellar service.
The service was stellar. The view is incredible. The only downside was that our cabana was right next to the pool and restaurant, so it was pretty noisy at times. We would stay there again but in a regular room instead of a cabana.
Probably the
I enjoyed the drinks at the pool!
Food was pricey
The Cahal Pech Resort is unique. They have both cabanas and hotel rooms, three small pools, a café, a bar, and a decent restaurant. It was fun staying there. The cabanas were various sizes, but I found them to have less living space than it would appear on the outside, though the protected front porch with a hammock was nice. The resort is right beside the Cahal Pech Mayan ruins, which is convenient, though the location is a little less convenient for going into the main area of San Ignacio. Its about a 2km walk down hill to the main part of the town (and of course 2km uphill to get back). Though taxi rides into the town are cheap. Some cabanas are closer lower down the hill than others, and you can hear dogs barking and roosters in the morning (I actually enjoyed that, but some may not). The concierge service was very helpful and had decent prices for transportation and tours. Service was good. I stayed there twice in the same trip, and would stay again.
I enjoyed my stay to a degree. I feel the facility could use some maintenance. Shower didn't work well, but worked. Dogs barking non stop at night, way beyond an acceptable level. The breakfast was a one time experience and alcohol was priced even higher than Placencia. Will i return? Yes. But not as a a guest that was impressed, but as a traveler than doesn't want to spend a ton
The property is up on the hill. You need transportation to dine anywhere else. Great staff, good food, but the rooms need an update.
Great place. I booked hut style accommodation that had a hammock. It was so relaxing, and the view was cool.
We loved our stay at Cahal Pech! The grounds and view is incredible! Staff was helpful and attentive. The food was amazing too! The rooms were not very comfortable for just hanging out (no comfortable chairs, no place to put your suitcase, no refrigerator or coffee) but this place is a perfect jumping off point for all the wonders the area has to offer
Two nights too many
We had a hut style accommodation. The bathroom was not very clean. No deep clean of the unit in a long time. Stairs to the unit were starting to rot. Above our tinned roof hut was 2 coconut trees. Coconuts fell on the roof at night and sounded like gunshots. The facility needs a refresh. Staff were pleasant. Pools were nice. We stayed 4 nights but would have preferred only 2 at this resort.
Highly recommend!
Great place, great view
Wonderful place with friendly staff and great food! Book a cabana if you can, it comes with its own screened porch and hammock, it's a little slice of paradise!
Loved it. Thanks for the hospitality
Staff were friendly and accommodating. The main building had a beautiful restaurant, bar area, and coffee shop with the best views overlooking San Ignacio. 2 different pools that were clean and had ample lounge chairs. The property was clean and filled with palm trees and flowers to admire. We stayed in a grass top cabana which was an awesome experience but we didn’t like that it seemed more run down than the main facilities. Housekeepers came in every day but there was stuff that fell from the ceiling throughout that made it feel less clean, patchy walls with scrapes and blemishes throughout. Our space had a large patch of black mold in the corner which we could smell when we came into the room. We stayed for 3 nights and overall was happy with our experience. We had air conditioning and hot water with great pressure was a bonus for this space. I would stay here again but likely in the main hotel room to get away from the natural mess that came with the straw hut.
Great experience
We enjoyed our stay at Cahal Pech Village, the open air restaurant and bar area was wonderful and beautiful views! Staff was great, helped with excursions and taxi's ~ convenient to stroll over to Cahal Pech ruins. Some items in room need attention as getting old, but not an issue, would recommend staying here for the price.
Lovely view from the hilltop. Our cabana was close to all amenities but they are all on a hillside. The pools were nice. Good wifi. Tasty food. We had to ask for hangers and a hair dryer. There was no safe. We loved the screen room with hammock. Would have liked coffee in the room. Be sure to see the C.P. Mayan site right next door. The hotel offers tours which are not to be missed.
Out of towels at pool, didn’t take my credit card when I checked in so I couldn’t charge at restaurants, no mattertress pads on beds. High taxes, very resort feel not personal at all.
Cahal Pech has a natural, jungle vibe, the pool area is nice and the food we ate at the restaurant and cafe was really delicious. We were disappointed that we’d book a cabana with a queen bed and sofa but were given a room with 2 double beds and told that was all they had. Said there are double bookings with Expedia ones. The room could have been cleaned a little better before we arrived. Needs a bit of maintenance and improvement. Glad we had a rental car but was easy to walk to Cahal Pech ruins.
The internet doesn’t work! I stay one more night for work, and I had to go at the hotel next door with good internet, The Falling Leaves Lodge! They say was because was raining, but at next door was working…
All of the staff and Chef Joe were fantastic. All of the food was fantastic and a great variety. Plenty of hot water. Excellent family resort could not ask for a better place to stay. All of the staff were fantastic and went over and above to make sure our stay was fantastic. Whether a couple or family this was an excellent choice for the perfect vacation or getaway. We would definitely recommend this as a place to go for all of our family and friends. Can't wait to go back.
For the price per night this was good or property. Our initial room was not acceptable. But they made a change and we were satisfied. Minimal Breakfast options. Staff were very nice.
The rooms were below average for the price.
The restaurant and general space is very nice. The cabanas are dated. A few things they could do would be invest in better towels. The towels were pretty bad. Also a very light comforter would be nice for the beds, not just a blanket.
This hotel on the hillside has a beautiful view of San Ignacio and best of all an amazing staff if employees willing to help with anything you need including planing tours.
It was okay
Qas such a cool property with an amazing veiw of the town. The staff where incredibly nice and helpful. I recommend the cave tubing tour
Everyone was super nice
Magnificent trip. The owners are exceptional. Made us feel like family.
Cabana was unfortunately musty and had mold on the walls. We slept with the windows open to try to get fresh air in as I’m allergic to mold, but this only proved to welcome bugs in. I really wish the sleeping arrangement and quality of the cabana was better because the property and location were otherwise great.
The surrounding of the property is beautiful. The stuff at reception desk very friendly. The food was either over or undercooked at our table. The manager of the restaurant and the server non responsive at our requirement to take the action about it
Me and my girlfriend stayed there and really enjoyed ourselves. Going into our stay, I wasn’t expecting a lot because of how affordable the cabana was. When I saw the property and the restaurant and the cabana is itself overlooking San Ignacio with a hammock in it,I was extremely impressed and considered staying another night. The food was great and the staff was even better. Unfortunately, it rained so we couldn’t see the Mayan ruins as we had planned on, however, it was definitely a great time.
The front desk staff were very helpful. Inquired about upgrading our accommodations once we arrived and they were super helpful and making that happen. Very friendly, very professional.
Overall a great choice and stay
Nice property, beautiful views. The beds were very uncomfortable. You can tell just by looking at them. They dont even have headboards. Just 2 small pillows with the cement wall behind it. The room had 2 beds, pretty big space for a 32" TV. that was all the way to the right corner of the room. A room that size deserves at least a 42" in the middle of the room.
No safe, security locks, elevator, phone or refrigerator in room. No gym.
Cahal Pech is like a second home whenever I come to San Ignacio to visit family. The fair prices, friendly staff, and delicious food and drink have me coming back even after staying at other properties in the area
Beautiful property, very outdoorsy and quiet. Staff was amazing.
The restaurant food was great and the views were amazing!
San Ignacio is a neat little town, great dining options! Felt safe community wise!
This property sits on top of a hill that over looks the city. In the morning you can see vultures flying. I suggest staying in the cabanas. They are more private, quaint, and they have private screened porch with a hamock. It is an easy walk to one of the ruins. Food is expensive, but good.
I like the view
Great
.
All the public spaces look great, the view is awesome the dining options were good and everything was very Instagramable the attention is evident, until you get to the room. It has seen better days for sure. The room is very basic-but needs some TLC and a coat of paint, curtains that cover the windows properly. The bathroom needs to be gutted and renovated it's beyond saving at this point and just not up to standards of "a resort property" I've seen nicer and better in a Hostel. I would go here to eat but I would not stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay. I went with my brother, his 2 tween sons, my mom and my 18 year old son. Staff accomidated our room requests, and switched rooms when the ac wasn't working. When we visited it was in the high 90s, i do not recommend rooms with thatched roof. My mom and the boys complained it was hot due to lack of insulation. The food was pretty good we ate several meals at the restaurants. We aporeciated the tour staff helping set up cars and trips. We definitely enjoyed our trip.
Beautiful scenery. Unique accommodation. Nice amenities. Only issue was a very rude waitress at the restaurant who ignored my request for water and soda despite paying for both. Also black ants in the patio area. Other than those minor issues, fantastic stay. I'd recommend to others and stay again myself.
The staff at this property were all very nice and accommodating, I stayed here for one night because my family lives in the area and I just loveee Cayo. Cahal Pech is pretty high up as the resort is near the Ruins so I wouldn’t say it’s “accessible” but you can easily call a taxi and all the taxi drivers in the area are knowledgeable about the best places to go. What I like about Cahal Pech is that it’s high up in the mountains so the view is nice but it’s also quiet and away from the busy city, I felt very safe here as well. The resort truly has everything you need, you don’t even have to leave the property if you don’t want to. Our room was a little outdated, but other than that I have no complaints :)
Staff was incredible and beautiful location. I stayed at this location about 9 years ago and loved the property. On this trip we rented the cabana. It was beautiful but the thatched roof was not properly secured and had large holes in it where it meets the framing for the building. We had cockroaches running into the room for the two nights we were there. The mattress was dirty and looked to have mold on the side of it
The area and view were beautiful. One of our rooms' AC was broken but the staff fixed it. The food was good, however, there were no refrigerators in our rooms. The wifi was also not very good. We loved the hammock. It could get a bit loud at times but it wasn't horrible. The staff were great and helpful. Overall, our stay was decent.
Beautiful view
Wonderful staff, lovely pools. Rooms were great.
Cabanas are very comfortable. Staff is super friendly
The staff are Amazing! Property is beautiful . Definitely recommend and will come back!
Great food, but skip the stay
The good- The Cooling Rack restaurant has two of the best meals we had in Belize - Crispy Pineapple Jerk Chicken (not the one served in the pineapple) and the Chaya Maya Pasta were phenomenal. The pools were great to cool down in and there was space for everyone. It’s a nice location with good views and a cute atmosphere. The bad- The service was really unpredictable; we had good experiences around the pool and in the Cooling Rack, but less pleasant experiences with the front desk, the sushi restaurant, and the coffee shop. The ugly- The room was awful. We were in a bungalow that was advertised as having two beds, one full and one pull out. It should absolutely not be advertised as such as the pull out was so bad that I could not sleep the whole time we were there (I’m a pretty flexible sleeper and this was the worst thing I have ever slept on with springs poking out). We had also asked the bellboy if it was ready to sleep on when we showed us the room and he said it was. When we opened it that night, there were no sheets and it was disgusting and stained. The AC barely worked and the bathroom was in need of a deep scrubbing. The noice from the valley was also really loud at night and between the uncomfortable mattresses, hot room, and noise, we didn’t sleep the entire four nights we were there.
We went during a very dry season with 33 days of drought. The smoke from the forest fires were overwhelming but it did not take away from the beauty and functionalities of the property. Every staff member we encountered were amazing. Not a thing to complain about.
The place should look nice once the construction is complete.
Insufficient air conditioning
This was one of the best places I’ve stayed San Ignacio. Great value for money. Friendly staff, nice pools, and several options for meals. The best was the view of the valley below. Next time I will stay in one of the authentic cabanas
For the price that you pay you don't get a lot as far as tv, water etc. There is a coffee machine in the room but no coffee.
Absolutely beautiful.
The staff here were so accommodating and wonder!! The food was fantastic. Room was great. We did three excursions that couldn’t have been more fun! I have nothing to say but good things about this resort. They have best of what Belize has to offer. Thank you Cahal Pech for taking such good care of us.
Near the ruins
Stay here! You won’t regret it
The staff were absolutely amazing and accommodating. They helped us plan all our activities and transportation, make your life easy and let them help! Up a hill but you can get a taxi into the town for $5 US. The view is absolutely amazing from the top and you’re near one of the Mayan Ruins
Nice place but second loudest ever
The location was cool. The staff mostly accommodating. The problem was that we were up half the night due to their being a dance club or something below followed by fireworks and someone shooting a gun so can’t really recommend for a place to sleep.
The property is on the verge of being good or great in their uniqueness. Plenty of dining, pools are great, tour setups are perfect, but the service (other than front desk) was very poor. Like we were an inconvenience to them. Food was bland and the substitute they gave me was ill cooked and made me sick. The room was meh, with a TV that turned on at random, a fan that was noisy and the bathroom that had broken tiles and a window that wasn’t covered all the way…in the shower. Just so close to great…
Accessibility
Great location on top a hill.
7 is the score. Great staff.
Downhill cabana so-so. Needed a good scrubbing especially the bath. Difficult to get up and down to it. Staff very good. Food/sushi/drinks pretty good, a little pricey. Breakfast so-so. Staff again 1st rate.
It is a beautiful setting on top of the hill above town. So walking to it was challenging but fun for me. Staff were awesome. If you are a light sleeper don’t get a room above the bar and restaurant. Comfy room. Warm water runs out in the afternoon but when it’s hot out it feels great to take a cool shower.
Conveniently located right by the Cahal Pech Mayan ruins, resort was very accommodating. Variety of food options available both off and onsite. Pool was a great refresher after a long day out and about visiting everything Belize has to offer. Room was a bit smaller than expected but still very pleased with our stay.
Fun to be so close to ruins. I went 3 times.
Food and view are outstanding
Very nice; off the beaten path but not too far away! We liked our private cabin, especially the deck area overlooking the town. You feel a part of the action, hearing the sounds of city life, which was alright for us but some may seek a more quiet setting. The view is lovely! We didn’t need the tv, so when we couldn’t get it to bring up what we wanted, we just gave up, so don’t know if that would have been resolved or not. The hotel has food and beverage and the pool looked great!
This is a nice, budget resort in San Ignacio! The on site amenities were great, a couple of food options and a bar. It is close to town, although located on a pretty steep hill. We stayed in the standalone bungalow rooms, which were very fun and novel with one drawback: because of the thatched roofs, lizards could easily get into the rooms and they would leave excrement (that has a not pleasant odor). Staff cleaned the rooms daily, but the smell would linger. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but something to consider before booking. Overall, a fine property.
The staff was excellent always trying their best to make your stay enjoyable. Food was good and atmosphere terrific. It should be said that you are on the top of a mountain so if you walk from the resort be prepared to walk back up a steep hill. The views are amazing. Overall I would stay there again.
Great choice
The location, the service, and the views are spectacular. It is quiet - except for the dogs barking in the city down below and the rooster but that's what gives it its charm! I was in one of the cabanas and it was spacious and clean. The only thing that would have made it better would be a more comfortable mattress and pillows and block out curtains so neighbours don't see you changing. But besides that, it's a solid choice for a wonderful vacation.
This place was great (definitely not your typical hotel!) and I’d totally come back. Food, service, uniqueness, cleanliness all 5 stars. The food was more expensive than I thought it would be and the bed in our cabana was not comfortable (it dipped in the middle). Hot water was a little sketchy, but all in all a very cute place with very helpful staff. We’d come back for sure.
We stayed in one of the cabins. Bed was severely dipped in the middle, no where to put clothes, no hangers etc. one day with no hot water. Facility is very clean, staff are excellent, food is very good. Bar makes outstanding drinks. Staff very helpful getting transportation etc. pools are very clean.
Nice looking place, quiet. Internet limited to lobby and restaurant
Perfect vacation stay
Great location for adventures, very friendly staff, Miguel at the front tour desk was amazing, set us up with the perfect tours, quality place to stay.
Amazing views and staff
We’ve stayed here before, and will do so again! We love views and set up of the resort, had several great meals at the restaurant. Power went out the first night but was resolved quickly with great communication.
Amazing views from the top of San Ignacio!!
From our first contact with the hotel they were very helpful and accommodating. They arranged all the transfers we needed to get there and then to get to our next destination in Belize as well. They also arranged for 2 tours: cave tubing and the Xunantunich archeological site. Both tours were fantastic with excellent guides. There is a restaurant, a sushi bar and a coffee shop at the hotel which is very nice because it sits on the highest point in San Ignacio and there is not much else in the immediate area. It is a quick and easy cab ride (or you can walk) into town. There are amazing views from the hotel which sports multiple (unheated) pools that have a quirky mini golf vibe with a big pterodactyl fountain, which sadly was not turned on while we were there. I would suggest adding the breakfast buffet to reservation as it is a tasty and convenient option. We would definitely stay here again if we ever some back to San Ignacio.
Absolutely gorgeous view at the top of the hill overlooking the town. I love hanging out in the covered porch/lanai not having to worry about mosquitoes. The walk to the town is easy, but going back up can be difficult for those not physically fit since it's a steep road going up. We didn't mind since we love walking everywhere. You can get a taxi for about U$D5 I would definitely stay there again.
Magnificent View
I enjoyed the area. I stayed in a standard but would have up graded had I known about the different room types available. I would stay at this hotel again in the future but choose an up grade in room. The view from my room was magnificent.
I can’t believe this hasn’t been mentioned many times. Sound travels up the hill. There is a nightclub at the bottom of the hill that is incredibly loud. I stayed in a cabana & I was basically in the club. I could hear bangers (until 3am) Saturday then word for word karaoke Sunday night. Even with earplugs in, you will not sleep. Engines fire up when the casino & club close, then the dogs start (3a-4a). The cabana is cute with a great view from the hammock though.. There is a net over the bed to catch gecko poo, which is a nice touch. You’ll need to ask for a blanket as there’s only a sheet on the bed. The staff was very friendly. The walk into town is not terrible but as other reviewers mentioned, it’s a hike up the hill. A taxi is only $5USD though if you don’t want to trek up. I recommend eating meals elsewhere. (The pasta sauce was inedible to me. It was so sweet. They did graciously provide me with a different sauce upon request.) The cafe has good coffee. All hotel restaurants are expensive. Eat street food if you want good, cheap food.
Definitely will return
Beautiful place, excellent service, super friendly and helpful staff and delicious food and drinks.
The service was amazing and the beautiful young ladies that works in the front desk ,made our stay more fun . I would highly recommend this beautiful, relaxing , peaceful Gem
Property had a great view and great vibe. My TV had to be changed out and my ceiling fan was noisy but other than that, great property and I would return.
Hotel perched on top of a hill overlooking San Ignacio. Comfortable cabins with air conditioning and hot water showers. Excellent food options at the restaurant. 40 minute walk to downtown, but given the location will be uphill walk when returning to the hotel.
Beautiful scenery
Staff service and food are excellent. They are very helpful. I highly recommend this place for San Ignacio area.
Excellent staff and the Cabanas are very nice
We had a great time definitely staying again
This hotel, on the top of the hill, offers splendid views of the surrounding area, and it is only a very short walk from the Cahal Pech Mayan ruins. Well worth a visit.
The staff is amazing and the tours are always great. We like that they offer so many tours and when you get back exhausted the Bar is open with great drinks. The bungalow was not as clean as our room last year and the ac had a hard time keeping up with the extreme heat in July.
Cahal Pech has the most stunning views of the area. The staff is beyond amazing and the food on site is good. They just need to upgrade the rooms a bit. Overall I realky enjoyed my stay.

The cabanas are so cute! The views were awesome but to be soooooo close to the ruins.... That was it for me!
