Amazing location
The property and staff were wonderful, but there were some unexpected surprises. I did not know ahead of time that a car could not bring me directly to the hotel and I would have to take a boat. I enjoyed it much more on the return trip. All of the stuff was really wonderful, and I truly felt like I was an honored guest. The boatmen,Mamta and Khushi at reception, and everyone who worked in both restaurants were wonderful. Ongoing upgrades, especially the electrical outlets and switches in my room would make everything more convenient.
Brijrama is a unique property primarily due to its location. No place can come close to its convenience and proximity to Kashi’s holy sites. Its location also creates challenges with accessibility. We had sr citizens with us and climbing the stairs from ghaat wasn’t easy. Overall experience was positive. Food was good. Service was slow for some reason. They need to add staff to the kitchen or restaurant. Driver Rakesh was very helpful
Absolutely amazing stay. Our stay in the hotel was from start to finish an experience in itself and we would not want to stay anywhere else in Varanasi.
Beautiful renovated palace, extremely convenient and the restaurant was superb!
If you want to experience Varanasi then Brijrama Hotel is a great place to call your home base! It is perfectly located in a beautiful former palace right on the river. They will provide a boat to take you up and down the river to watch and participate in one of the greatest spiritual traditions on earth!
Very expensive, but does not really meet expectations. Guests arrive by boat as cars can't reach the property due to its location directly on the Ganges in old Varanasi. The Ganges had flooded during our stay, so the boat entry was cancelled. Two rickshaws and 10 minutes walking did not make for a good start. The flooding, of course, cannot be helped. It should not be held against the hotel. However, the vast majority of the rooms have no views. The BrijRama is licked in on three sides by older, runned-down buildings. Our view was a wall about 4 feet away. Only the 4 suites have Ganges views. Horrible, when you pay $550 per night. The staff was wonderful, and tried their best to make up for our disappointment. The hotel gets 5 stars based on the strength of the staff itself. Very nice, helpful, friendly, professional, and exceptional.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Brijrama Palace during my visit to Varanasi. The hotel's location, just a short walk from the Vishwanath Mandir, was incredibly convenient. The Darbangha restaurant was a highlight, with delicious food and friendly staff. The manager and chef went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was delightful. A special mention goes to the panditji on staff who led the guests for the Ganga aarti. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Brijram Palace and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Varanasi.
Excellent property and caring staff
the place is outstanding! It is an oasis in the chaotic, frenzied city of Veranasi. The staff are well trained, attentive, eagerly to please and friendly but respectful. In particular Kushi at the front desk is a problem solver.
Okay absolutely loved the location and the staff pretty much make the hotel. Excellent detail to attention and everyone so helpful but…since we came when Ganges was flooded, we had to walk through dirty alleyways to get to the hotel. The alleyways were unsafe and no way we could get to and from the hotel without help from staff.
Must stay property
Brijrama Palace is one of the most beautiful heritage hotel.. unless you enter in hotel, u can't imagine what lies inside. The hospitality, comfort, food and staff is beyond imagination. We are coming back soon. Location is on ghat and they have boats for transportation but on festival day, reaching hotel can be challenge. Over all 10 put of 10
Excellent hospitality and cleanliness
You get to stay in an actual palace! The staff is very attentive, courteous. and provide their services promptly.
Stay was great and enjoyed the service.
Excellent stay at Brijrama
It was an amazing stay! The place is just stunning and it is an experience all through! Abhilash the front desk manager was great and the staff Khushi, Kewal, Prince, Satish and Sankalp made sure the stay was enjoyable! Will definitely go back again!
Mixed Review
Amazing property, incredible service, acceptable food, sub-par room ☹️
This hotel is located overlooking the Ganges River, but quiet and peaceful. After walking along the Ganges River, the staff and the place bring a sense of relief. The hotel also hosts several cultural events where you can experience the wonderful Indian culture bit by bit, allowing guests to participate in those events while staying at the hotel.
Varanasi is Varanasi! This hotel is amazing! The restaurant was fabulous I truly love it.. the people that work here very friendly, they can go the 9 yards for you. I love it and highly recommended Thank you! BrijRama stuff very memorable visit!
Best
Amazing place fabulous staff food excelled can’t praise it enough
Fantastic views of the holy Ganges River. Very unique boutique hotel Old world royal charm. Very friendly, helpful and courteous staff Surprise live music and dance performances daily. Food is excellent. Would highly recommend this property
Overrated- not comfortable for elderly.
Staff was helpful when you have questions. And the check-in process could be much smoother. They should provide the information on the local attractions. It's very overrated based on the money you spend!! The process to drop off was very horrible. It took us out from e-riksha from small rough lanes where we witness man was peeing openly. I don't understand why they could not drop off where they picked up in the boat. Highest being guessed, but they cannot have a clean passage for elderly people to walk. Disorganized.. . Treat guests as numbers and fake concerns.. Disappointed!
It was at the ghat . We had to take the boat to reach the palace. It was a beautiful journey. People were very welcoming, polite and understanding. They took us for evening Aarti that was spectacular. Food was delicious.
The BrijRama Palace is a magnificent property to stay when in Varanasi. It is rare to stay in a place like this along the Ganges. The views from the lobby balcony are stunning.
A week in paradise
We loved our stay at Brijrama palace. Hotel management went above and beyond to make last minute changes in making our accommodations. We really appreciate the effort. Only problem is access on the road. Due to being right on water there is nothing that can be done.
I loved this hotel stay. It was closer to temple and other important places at Kashi. Hotel arranged me priest and all facilities. All staffs are great. No complains.
Whether you are looking for a spiritual escape or mind and body relaxation, Brij Rama Palace is worth it. I took my mother and kids to the hotel to celebrate her 75th birthday. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and took really good care of us. Don’t miss the spa treatments if you happen to stay here. Thank you Brij Rama associates for making this one of the best holidays I ever had.
Great location to access Ghats on Ganga River. Excellent vegetarian food. Complimentary boat rides for guests. Luxurious facilities. Kind and prompt service. Helpful in directions and provided currency exchange.
This property is amazing. We were there May 26th and 27th. They picked us up from the airport. From Namo ghat they take you in a boat to the hotel. We were in time for their high tea - they thoroughly spoil you. Later in the afternoon, it rained quite heavily, so it was very pleasant and went in the hotel arranged boat to see the Ganga Aarthi- It was amazing. We almost had a front row seat to one of the most spectacular ceremonies. Next day, because of the rising temperatures , we left at 6am to temples ( I had made my own arrangements) , came back for breakfast ( very deliciously and staff is so hospitable) and then left for a couple of hours to see BHU and Sankat Mochan temple. We were back by 11:30 - the heat was unbearable. So we relaxed in the hotel - I got my free mehndi done .Little later we went and got our free foot massage done ( they are very good at it) . Then I signed up for neck and shoulder massage and head massage ( I thoroughly enjoyed it). Later in the evening we went for a walk - you can walk along the banks of Ganges endlessly from the hotel (simply breathe taking) and at night we took a bath in the Ganges. The hotel staff took very good care of us. Attended to each and every whim and fancy (of mine!)Their service is par excellence. Food was excellent. I loved our room. I got to watch the dance program in the evening for a bit. They have no tipping policy. On the 28th I had to leave for Gaya at 4:30am. They made all arrangements. Love this hotel.
An unforgettable experience
By far the best hotel during our recent trip to India. Yes, it is expensive, but it was worth every penny. It's located directly on the river, a one minute walk to Dashashwamedh ghat which is the focal point in Varanasi at night. Nice attentions such as a musician during day time, dances at night. Their spa is great too. It was an unforgettable experience.
Absolute fantastic heritage palace converted to hotel. Brilliant location right on the Ganges and walking distance to all things. The staff were all just awesome and very attentive to our needs, especially mention Bhupesh in the restaurant, he was always happy to help with a smile and nothing seemed a trouble for him. Brilliant service. It was a privilege to stay at this hotel. Definitely would come back
Very expensive for what you get. The location is what you pay for. Make sure you don't drink the water they put in the room. Ask for bottled water.
Do not recommend
Enchanting hotel
The best part was the view of the Ganga - most convenient for Arti - rooms were small with no view though - mattress was soft so had back issues - dining area was only one with no outdoor seating - which is so lovely there - else all was great - food was awesome
It's hard to find enough superlatives for this hotel. If you have the means, then there really is no other place to stay in Varanasi. From the property, to the staff, the location, and every little "extra" like the evening show after the aarti on the banks of the river-which they take you to. We paid for the river view suite, and it was worth every penny. Simply superb.
Loved the architecture and decor of this place. It was very peaceful and serene having high tea overlooking the Ganges with colorful boats and the flavor of Banaras. From the moment we checked in, we felt like royalties. Definitely coming here again next time I visit Banaras.
Best of Varanasi
Amazing hospitality. Very polite and well behaved staff. Excellent location and views from the hotel. Neat and clean restaurant and overall property. Very good food and an attentive and prompt service
Excellent Palace
Everything was up to our standards and exceeded more. We were confused about tipping, considering we have a more Western civilization autonomy and did tip a person that helped with our baggage. The food was amazing and hospitality was just as equal. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Varanasi to stay at the Brijrama Palace. Daily entertainment such as music, dancing, high tea, yoga, massages and boat rides were an extra plus to our stay.
Best location in Varanasi ! Would highly recommend, wonderful staff
Excellent service
The best hotel in Varanasi. Staff, room, cleanliness, service and above all the location on Munshi ghat is priceless. Six stars.
Nice location.. No tipping policy. Very cordial staff. They go extra length to help you out. Excellent breakfast buffet . Free Ganga Aarti darshan. Afternoon high tea included. Free Gita copy at check out. Live instrumental music and kathak dance daily. The music is very pleasing to ears. I felt their genuine care and affection .
Serene atmosphere. view of ganges
I rated the outside area of the facility as dirty but that could be said for most areas of the city. The reason to visit and stay in Varanasi and specifically this hotel is for access to the culture and lifestyle surrounding the Ganges River and you definitely do not miss it from this location. The hotel is amazing and beautiful in every way.
Every single thing about this property is perfect. All the staff are very friendly and respectful. Expensive stay but worth an experience if affordable.
Amazing historic property close to all the historic places to visit in Kashi.
A must if you're in Varanasi
The stay was very delightful! The staff is amazing, rooms were clean and the food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend!
Located beautifully and conveniently on the banks of Ganges!!
Location
Evening entertainment, Indian dance and music, was outstanding
Historical hotel, beautifully appointed. Superb facilities and staff. Great free evening boat ride. Excellent free transfers.
What a fabulous place to stay in Varanasi. My only complaint would be that I wish the history and transformation of this incredible hotel were showcased more prominently. Food was excellent, service was flawless and all the additional amenities were well worth checking out from the spa to the rooftop yoga in the mornings. Thank you for a wonderful stay and hope to be back soon.
If u coming for us uk then please stay there best hotel to stay
The best decision in India
The best experience ever to finish our trip in India! Varanasi was just lazing but this Heritage Hotel was beyond imaginable! it’s so beautiful everyone is super friendly and helpful! This stay make our First India trip a whole new feeling!
Beautiful property on ghats of Ganga. Great hospitality, food and the view from the room of river Ganga. Evening Aarti from the boat was great experience.
Sandeep in reception was horrible. He was back talking avoiding guest and mean.
Excellent food
excellent hotel. right on the river ganga and next to daswamedha ghat
This palace is perfect for a romantic getaway. The staff there really makes you feel like royalty.
The stay was an excellent one; the service, warmth and general kindness of all members of staff was indeed exemplary, keep up the excellent standards.
Fantastic hotel
Amazing hotel, arrival by boat, in the best location of Varanasi. Beautiful historic building, best staff, room upgraded for free, I have been travelling quite a lot and this is one of the best hotels I have been, unforgettable experience. I hope I will come back.
Wonderful in every way
Excellent welcome 🙏 they make me feel like a queen 👸 so kindness.
A very well maintained hotel. Excellent location. The Palace is gorgeous. Every room has a unique touch. The view from the terraces is amazing. The staff is fantastic. Money well spent. That is the place to stay in Varanasi
Stunning Palace
Stunning palace. Beautiful rooms, great food, good service. Just make sure your room isn’t near the lift. Ours was and we had to move.
Must visit place in Varanasi
Experience of a life time!
Fabulous location. Right on the Ganges at the Ghats. Clearly the best hotel in Varanasi to experience all of the rites on the Ganges without spending all your time in a cab getting to and from your hotel. It truly is a palace. Staff is very, very attentive. Will definitely stay here on return to Varanasi
From the time of our arrival , right till our departure, we were treated like royalty :) The staff were amazing, going out of their way to meet every whim and fancy I may have had. The food was exquisite . Would definitely have loved to stay forever, but reality was calling :)
Gorgeous hotel, fantastic staff, brilliant location
This is a fabulous hotel located right in the Ganges Exactly where you want to be!!!
Fabulous stay in exotic location
Beautifully restored historical building with so many interesting interior design details of antiques like sculptures, paintings, carpets, furniture and chandeliers. Our room, although on the smaller side, was comfy and clean. The king bed was good. They brought us extra pillows. The shower was hot and good pressure. Complimentary amenities were good quality - bathroom toilettries and free minibar treats. Coffeemaker in room. We made early morning coffee and took it out on the rooftop to sip and watch the Ganges activity. Good aircon in the room. Many indian and western items on restaurant menu. We loved the mushroom pizza, thin crust. Breakfast buffet is good, eggs to order. Great free boat ride to see Ganga aarti @ 6pm. Enjoyed evening 1/2 hour classical indian dance in the hotel. Staff were super friendly. Always a 'namaste' to welcome you. A special shoutout to Sandeep at reception for his humour and always smiling. I will always have fond memories and hope to return to Brijrama.
Great common area, service is great (really appreciate the hotel having its own boat and taxi service). The room was a bit worn in.
BrijRama Palace, Varanasi - By the Ganges | Hotel in Varanasi | Travala.com
Try to arrive during the day, so you can come by boat to the hotel. At night, the boats aren’t used, and you have to walk a considerable distance through dark narrow alleyways to reach the hotel from the nearest car. The rooms are a bit disappointing, small and not very luxurious, but clean. The food is delicious, with a wide variety of choices. The yoga instructor on the roof is sweet and does his best to encourage mind body connection. But it’s the location, with the ghats directly accessible by elevator, that makes this palace special.
