The Hotel is closed. Arrived to find barracades and security guards to be told the hotel is no longer operating. Would have been nice to know! Not good as a person travelling alone for work when arriving at 7.30 at night!
Swimming pool and gym closed. Room a little tired and needing a refresh.
Not as good as it used to be
Swimming pool and gym closed. Room a little tired and needing a refresh.
Several circumstances outside of staff control but very friendly and apologetic
Disappointed
Disappointed this time. The room was a little tired and needed decorating The bathroom was clean, but I wouldn't say spotless. No coat hangers in the wardrobe, and no iron (although there was an ironing board). Swimming pool and gym were out of action due to being refurbished. This was also the case when I stopped here last month. Location is good, and the pub around the corner is excellent for food and drinks. This is just as well, as they dont offer Bitter in their own bar, and the restaurant is rather expensive.
Not what I planned
Not as advertised, pool and sauna was closed for duration of my stay, mould on ceiling in shower, no handsoap, no little biscuits in room, missing pillow in room. Just not attention to basic details
Lack of Customer centricity
Very disappointed as i booked this hotel with a view to using the pool. when i arrived at the hotel there was a sign on the reception desk stating that the pool was closed for maintenance. I asked how long it had been planned, but they chose not to answer or simply did not know. Details like this should be flagged up on the Expedia site by the hotel as if i had known I would have booked a different hotel. As a result i will not now consider this hotel in the future.
An average hotel
Turned up to be told no leisure facilities available and the hotel is closing fully on 15.11.24 Questioned this and was told a new buyer was taking over but closing fully for a mini refurb Why was Expedia unaware of this?? I booked hotel specifically for a special birthday treat and to use the pool and sauna facilities so was extremely dissapointed that were were unable to do so. The hotel looked a bit sparse with lots of fixtures and fittings la king or removed, our room although clean was tired and needed a lick of paint and some mastic in the bathroom On a plus note, the staff were all friendly and helpful despite the fact they will possibly have no jobs next week and the restaurant food and service was excellent. Such a shame it’s closing its doors - hopefully not forever
Tale of two rooms.
Room 103. No hand soap in bathroom, no electric to sockets and then moved to 109. Room 109. No hand soap in bathroom, the shower flooded, toilet drainage groaned and extractor whisted (all night). Restaurant and bar menus, expensive and both limited. Ate at The Royal Oak (7 mins, walk) and well worth it. Breakfast, absolutely banging but beans were cold. Staff friendly and helpful.
Good value
Lovely grounds. Could do with a map of the grounds. Also a loo brush, glasses and decent sized uncracked cups. Dry comfortable.
Disappointed
Hotel looked lovely. Main areas well maintained. Checked day before opening times a bar as expected to get there late. Arrived and bar had been closed early as staff been moved to a private function. Room i wouldn't class as 4 star. Bathroom was very dirty and dusty, especially around the skirting board and doors. Holes in the wall were decorating hadn't been finished properly. Makeup handprints on side of cupboard. Tea/coffee try sufficient for the night, no little biscuits. Breakfast was lovely, self service and plenty of variety. Cooked to high standard Reception didn't find welcoming. On check out just took keys, no conversations
it says its a 4 star hotel, but our ground level room had a lot of damp on the outside facing wall, the curtains were filthy and there were dead flies that had ben splattered into the walls by other guests. The door didnt shut correctly and needed pulling hard to close it. The breakfast was fine and the bar was reasonably priced. The staff were pleasant. Would i book again? Definately not.
Enjoyed free use of swimming pool. Room was missing hairdryer but that was corrected quickly after I reported it. Not enough teabags and milk but again quickly corrected. No biscuits with the drinks tray. Plenty of breakfast wide choice excellent quality and aalways hot.
Lovely hotel Staff very friendly and welcoming
Basic, just like any national motel chain.
Overall a good weekend stay. Room had almost all that was needed, only 1 pillow. Asked for more and quickly forthcoming, but never been at a hotel before where had to ask. Also only one towel for 2 occupants, then found spare hidden in wardrobe of all places. As noisy as any similar hotel in corridor and doors banging. Didn't hear neighbours banging... Bar shuts at 11 and with no where else to go, the place is loosing out on punters that would have bought more after events and reception. Not ripped off for bar prices. No ales or proper beers, lots of lager choices, and Guinness was the sweetest yuckiest ever tasted. Had food as part of event. Couldn't fault it. No where before had suggested that had complimentary access to the spa if booked. So hadn't brought anything for use, pity. We had looked around but all indicated membership needed. Generally clean, though main bar and reception stank of egg later in evening, so even if bar had been open later wouldn't have been keen to stay.
Good staff and food. Pool was a good size. Grounds vry posh. Felt quite dated and in need of a refresh though.
Very tired hotel and the fact that it is not clean makes it even worse. Have stayed here alot over the years but it has really gone down hill now. Shame, as it is in a lovely setting. Greasy headboards are the worst.
Lovely location
Nicely located for easy access to Coventry and surrounding area's many tourist attractions.
Lovely place to stay for a visit to Coventry and Rugby
Very good check in
Very good
Very welcoming staff and very quick to respond, really appreciated this = thanks. However room 51 not a great option....the dip in the middle of the floor and a beds on wheels wasn't a great combination!
Lovely hotel. It is a little dated but has everything you can ask for. Bed is very comfortable. We asked for more pillows and hangers and they were with us within 10 mins. Spa facilities were really good, shame the steam room was out of order. We did not eat at the hotel so unable to comment on the food.
Very old needs updating , was also blood stains on my bedding
Nice room thankyou
Some great positives but some negatives. When you walk in the reception main entrance it smells of farts, only way to describe it. Rooms are a pleasant bed was good but could fit my suit in the wardrobe properly. Shower was great and room very clean. Walls a little thin so noisy sex from neighbours wasn’t enjoyable nor was the cleaner in the hallway at 7am. Restaurant food was a little over priced but was cooked well and served very hot loved that. Unfortunately it took the staff 5 minutes to seat me and from arriving for my reservation to getting a drink was 25 minutes, that wasn’t acceptable. It was very slow, but two staff should have been able to deal with the 11 diners. (The girl was very pleasant to be fair) Now One night I wasn’t allowed an ice bucket from the bar but the second night I was, so either you can or you can’t. Breakfast was very good and good quality too. I did use the gym whilst there which I was very impressed with.
Pleasant stay
Not a 4 star hotel may once have been but not now. Had 2 pots of milk with the tea tray had to ask for more then they didnt reple nish for the second night so had to ask again, the same with the toiletries in the room had to ask for more the second night as they were not replenished.the pool area ladies changing rooms floor was filthy said they had no female staff during day to clean it.I was told the changing rooms had shower gel so I didnt take any but they didnt& a lady in the changing room who was a health club member told me that they hadnt had any in there for weeks. Not good enough
An average stay.
We booked to stay as a couple to celebrate my birthday. First impressions were good, however the inside of the build is tired and worn, although clean. The room was small than expected and worn but comfy. We made use of the pool which is a good size. Breakfast was nice, we didn’t eat in the restaurant for the evening, drinks in the bar were pricey. On a plus side the grounds are lovey and it’s only a short walk to the village pub/resturant.
Lovely relaxing hotel.
Excellent all round, friendly staff, good facilities, clean, great breakfast, very relaxing and great value for money Only negative I thought the evening meal was a bit pricey.
All the walls in the room was marked and filthy, bathroom had hairs in the bath, yellow marks on bedsheets.
Nice reception staff
Smelly environment
Safe and comfortable
Generally clean, however hairs in bath on arrival. It’s looking tired now and they just need to paint some walls to vastly improve it. The wall in our room had drip marks down it - I don’t know what had dripped (dread to guess). Steam room out of action for the whole 3 days was disappointing. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, fried eggs only. No scrambled, omelettes or any other type of eggs - which they had done in the past. So perhaps service is going in a downward trajectory. It was the cheapest hotel within 20 miles with a pool and breakfast included, and I’d say that sums it up… it’s ok for a few cheap nights away with a pool & breakfast.
OK
Check in good, quite a walk to the rooms, not easy for my 87yr old relative (but to be fair I did not advise them). Room clean, bed comfortable and nice bedding. Pillows could be improved upon and need pillow protectors. Bathroom very tired and a bit mouldy in parts, needs an update but was OK. Because hard floors installed (understand why) but room felt very bare and my air con did not work.
Lots of nice things about this hotel, nice location and outside space. All staff i came across were very nice and helpful. Although the room was clean, it needed a deep clean or some maintenance doing. Tiles, shower screen etc...all doors and skirting boatds were damaged and needed a bit of attention.
Juliet and her husband who managed the hotel were excellent. We were a large group very accommodating
Good comfortable accomodation
The window didn't open, there was no TV remote control and there insects in the room. They did offer to move rooms BUT the room shouldn't have been given to a guest in the first place.
The evening meal was excellant
Good room - 2 pillows would have been nice as the pillow provided was a bit flat. Food nice - coffee not great! Loved the leisure centre and the grounds are beautiful. Good value.
Okay
Nice hotel, they staff were great and very welcoming to our dog :)
Nice
Very nice cl an and friendly staff
very restful stay. Staff worked hard to ensure everything worked well, particularly Juliet. Decor needs some attention in some public areas but did not detract.
Noce Hotel but needs a face lift over all very good
Lovely place, has everything you need. Tranquil and calm. Great leisure facilities. StFf very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb too.
They say it card only the all of a sudden they are taking cash off people. And the toilets are bad I have sent a picture
A lovely hotel with good facilities.
Stayed overnight on a very warm day. The grounds and pool are lovely. The interior is in much better condition than the outside which could do with some TLC. Walked ten minutes through the woods to the local village pub and then watched the football in the nice bar. Room was very warm but it was a super hot day.
Nice Hotel
We went to a friends anniversary party and stayed overnight the room was a twin it was nice adequate litte dated but was acceptable for a night's stay found it bit too warm we were on ground floor and room had heavy sash window which was heavy and difficult to lift so didn't open it Breakfast was good plenty of choice and would return
Safe clean and quiet
Peaceful stay
I stayed here once night, passing through Coventry. The grounds are beautiful and the facilities (gym) are really good. Bonus that it is not busy! I have to stay, I was a bit disappointed in the room and channels on the TV were limited. It was very basic considering the price. However, it was clean, the staff were friendly and the Panini's were fantastic!
Clean service
Lovely relaxing stay
We stayed over for 3 nights attending a local wedding. The location was lovely and quiet, lovely clean hotel and a nice clean spa. Staff very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Prices in bar were very reasonable too.
Very good value for money and a nice leisure centre to use . Nice size tv for a hotel and rooms are clean and very comfortable
Little Gem
Good sized rooms, with super kingsize bed. Rooms had everything you needed. The place is starting to look tired but it was totally value for money. Been able to use the pool and gym with steam rooms was a bonues. Although it is located in a quite area you are not too far from shopping and attractions.
Pleasant stay, helpful staff
Lovely location and lovely rooms
Friendly and welcoming staff. Good value.
Enjoyed returning to this hotel for a long weekend. Hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and made us feel welcome. Hotel is dog friendly so our chihuahuas were looked after too. Excellent! Good value with breakfast included.
Excellent value for money.
The grounds were amazing staff was friendly
Great pool friendly and helpful staff.
There was a wedding on so my stay was very noisy. They don't locate non wedding guests far away from where the wedding is. I was placed on the stairs with lots of banging doors and foot traffic through the night.
Charming property but is essentially an old house so the rooms are smaller than your typical 4 star. Food was good if a little overpriced. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I’d go back again just for the peace and quiet. They and I have a pool and other facilities in an adjacent building too. Overall recommended, for a quiet and romantic retreat.
Hair dryer in the room would have been helpful
Great hotel
Lovely spacious room, received an upgrade on arrival. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. The buffet breakfast was very good, great selection on offer. Ample car parking.
Good location nice hotel good food and the spa was good not bad size pool with sauna and steam room
Had a lovely time. Quiet and comfortable and we loved the leisure centre Bit raucous in the bar on Thursday evening, as some non guests were a little worse for wear!
Great weekend
Spur of the moment booking wasn’t disappointed at all, friendly staff with a can do attitude made it a memorable experience
Lovely place, excellent breakfast, although need more eggs at busy time ! And turn the toaster up a bit! Needed extra pillow and none in the cupboard, and a knack to flushing the loo!! Generally, highly recommended stay, quiet, warm and friendly and reasonably priced.
Business
Hotel was convenient, it a bit tired , rooms are functional but need updating. Restaurant was good and bar area although is small is pleasant enough.
Nice hotel. Just be aware of location
I arrived late in the evening so I didn't get to check out the hotel much. Room was clean and comfortable and quiet so I got a good night's sleep. WiFi was busy in the evening so a bit slow, but plenty fast enough in the morning. Breakfast was very good - full cooked breakfast with lots of options. Plenty of free parking outside. Just be aware that if you are headed for the North of Coventry it actually takes quite a while to get there from this side.
So-so
There are so many awful hotels in the Midlands that, at first, we were pleasantly surprised. The fabric of the building is in good shape and it is generally clean. Some staff dopey, some on the ball. It seems well-organised and efficient. However, the floor of our room was uneven and creaky, the pillows had stains under the clean pillowcases, and there was unpainted plaster where the wall had been repaired. We were offered a different room, which was better, but still had some stains on the wall. Food in the evening was good, breakfast was clean and well organised but pretty average. Overall a 5/10. In this area, you could do worse.
A cost effective hotel with generally good atandards
Room 18 was a little bland but the pool more than made up for it, good value for money overall
Relaxing Break
Carol and I and our two dogs were made very welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable. Meals were amazing and we were able to take our dogs into the bar with us when having meals. Staff were very polite and courteous and came across that they genuinely wanted to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Lovely grounds and woodland walks next to property. We will definitely be visiting again later this year.
Poor service from some staff marred it. No one served at breakfast so l got sugary cereal and crap sugary processed yoghurt for £15. No one said the room coffee was in a cupboard. Plain burger no chips or anything £19. Terrible strong chemicals in the pool with ghastly communal changing.
This hotel is rated 4 star but I would not rate it as more than a 3 star. The room had mould all behind the radiator, the curtains were really dirty, there is no extractor fan in the bathroom, and the window would not open properly.......there was no obvious fire / smoke alarm in the room either. So if there was a fire we wouldn't have known about it and would not be able to get out of the ground floor window as it wouldn't open. I was very surprised that the hotel did not offer any room service either. We did not get to use the health suite, but it looked nice from outside. The staff were very helpful and happy though.
Is beautiful place and the customer service was very good
Room was fine. Service was fine. Good restaurant. Lacks refinement we have experienced in other 4* hotels eg. Coffee machine and generic tea for breakfast with paper napkins and general feeling of economy over quality.
Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and professional. Facilities great, especially the pool
Couple stop over
Venue good , facilities good , food excellent , drinks very pricey , charged £2 for a pint of tap water .
Property is in need of a major refurb. Walls had so much filler and holes in them in corridors and bedrooms. Cobwebs hanging from ceiling, black mould in bathroom and very dated along with ceiling paint peeling off. Bar closed at 11 pm even when there was lots of people still in the bar socialising. Definitely not 4 star.
Functional
Rooms are clean but bleak, stark, hard, nothing soft or welcoming about them
Air blown heating noisy.
This hotel has a lot going for it, good location, good easy parking, friendly helpful staff. Only concerns: the rooms are air blown heated which is a little noisy and if you turn it off at night in the winter the room quickly gets cold. Floors are very cold underfoot, take your slippers. The beds could do with a better mattress, the springs are very noticeable.
I had my birthday there I booked 6 rooms and it was amazing, the staff were fantastic they went out of there way to make are stay special so I can say a very special thank you we justed loved it
Appearance in the dining room and especially at breakfast was very stark and lacked any warmth in the way of table settings. Tables without any tablecloths, no amenities even to the point of sugar or milk not on the tables. I stay at many hotels around the world and while I can appreciate buffets allow for less "wait staff" to serve at tables, it is more personable if a member of the wait staff could at least offer/serve coffee or tea at the table to a guest rather than self-service from a machine. Lounge/bar service personnel not friendly. Improving personal service in all public areas goes a long way to adding to the enjoyment and guest satisfaction.
Lovely hotel friendly staff great breakfast pool a bit cold to enjoy a nice swim would stay again
good setting not so much the rooms
Arriving at 8.30 on a blustery December winters night we parked in the overflow car park and splashed through the puddles to the entrance. The drive in had been impressive & well illuminated with lights either side of the long driveway. We checked in without issue and asked about eating in the restaurant & were told we had about 15 minutes order so we hurried to our room. A fast freshen up and we headed back down to eat, choosing to order at the bar as this felt a little less formal. Asking for the menu I was shocked at the prices with starters sitting between £10-£15 and main course typically around £30, this resulted in our evening meal for 2 approaching the price of our accommodation! The room itself had a very large bed which we discovered were just 2 beds pushed together as I descended into the gap in the middle as they drifted apart in the middle of the night - far from ideal! The bathroom had basic cheap toiletries for one person thrown on the side and there was only one set of towels - luckily we found another set in the wardrobe. The grouting in the bathroom was fairly grubby and you could easily see the areas frequented by guests. The TV in the room was probably one of the first generation flat screen models and at least a decade old and lacked most channels and didn't even have a TV guide so definitely no smart features. Breakfast was good and checkout was easy. Overall OK value for money but the rooms were not as you would expect from such a grand setti
Went to a wedding not 4 star at all wedding reception room was freezing and limited drinks and they cost the earth
Really nice stay, comfortable warm and cosy rooms. Good amenities in room. Spa and pool clean. Decent breakfast. Perfect for a quick get away surrounded by greenery in the woodlands.
Nice
I only stayed the night and didn't get to try the spa or pool facilities. The room was great value for money - large and comfortable - I enjoyed the breakfast and the staff were very courteous. It's a grand hotel that feels like it has seen better days (hence the 4*), but is still perfectly lovely. I would be very happy to return.
Very comfy but room was boiling and the window latch was broken! Thankfully there was a fan! Really lovely stay. Would stay again!
Could've had more amenities for the price paid i.e., tea facilities in the room and smart TV options but otherwise cant complain
Not Unpleasant
This was a business stay, simply an over-night stop between two days of local work, so a comfortable and quiet place to rest was all that was required. Advance reports from locals had the place as 'pleasant but a bit tired'. Although the outside of the building was looking a little in need, the inside seemed more than adequate and the room itself was clean and comfortable with easily-controlled temperature and black-out curtains (required because one of the security lights on the spa building shone straight at my window). Bar some noise around midnight (other guests who didn't seem to grasp that their voices and door-banging might carry to neighbouring rooms) I slept well. I ate in the restaurant. The prices were a little high for the venue, I though, but the food was good. Had I known how decent were the servings of side-dishes (plenty of 'Asian kale'), I might have been tempted to simply have had three side dishes as a decently-priced and filling meal! Breakfast was decent. Not the greatest choice for the money, but perfectly adequate.

Bankrupt
Arrived to find hotel had gone into liquidation and could not let me stay
