Great location, great service
I had a single room with a single bed for one night. The room was very chic, and the bathroom was great. The air conditioner worked, but was absolutely in disrepair, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable, with only one pillow given. Otherwise, it was good value, and the staff were very lovely.
Great place to stay in the heart of Old Salzburg.
Fantastic location with helpful staff. Near to everything one would want to see in Salzburg. Highly recommend this hotel.
Winner!
Great stay! Incredible location. Great AC in the summer in the rooms. Wonderful service! Winner.
Boutiquehotel am Dom was such a great find! It’s nestled in the center of Old Town Salzburg, but it was still quite peaceful and quiet. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They were very welcoming and immediately made us feel comfortable and at home. There were several museums in the area, along with great restaurants, ice cream shops, and shops. My husband, son, and I all agree we would stay there again.
The staff were terrific and very welcoming. The front desk people were super helpful answering any questions we had. They gave us tips on where to go and even helped plan out train travel to our next destination. The room was good size and very clean. The location was perfect for where we wanted to go. We would definitely stay here again.
Great location. Great service. Mattress somewhat uncomfortable and 4 flights of stairs. Overall would stay here again and very happy with hotel.
Great location, room was clean and modern and staff was very helpful and kind.
Beautifull hotel with exellent location. I was amazed by the huge size of the room.
Comfortable and clean excellent position for exploring city
The Am Dom is perfectly located in the heart of the Old Town making all the shops, restaurants and historic sites a short walk. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The after hours access card system works brilliantly, and the owners provide outstanding and personalized service. Breakfast is excellent and features espresso coffees. Parking is a short walk away, but easily managed with roller suitcases.
Small nice room, meh service 😐
This was just a quick stay in salzburg. One night. The room was small but nice, a little stuffy so we needed to keep window opened. My issue was the price in relation to service. Very pricey for curt sevice. The man at front desk the morning we left was not very friendly, he seemed annoyed at our questions.
The room was a bit small for the price.
Fantastic
Location was great. The staff was fantastic!!!
Nice hotel best hotel for the Xmas markets
great location, comfortable rooms, great helpful staff, walkable to everything will absolutely stay again !!!!
Fantastic staff who made you feel like an important guest. Great breakfasts, and super location close to everything
Wonderful small hotel. Modern and in great location. Only complaint is no coffee in room.
Lovely place. Parking for your car is a bit far from the hotel. Excellent location!
This was the perfect place to stay for our time in Salzburg. Perfect location in the venter of thw village to walk to everything. Also spectacular views from our room on the top floor!
Outstanding location. Rooms were more spacious than we anticipated. Helpful staff. Highly recommend.
Great hotel and staff, fantastic location
Excellent room and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Superb design in the room, both in function and aesthetic!
1. The Air Conditioner in our room would not stay on for longer than 30 minutes at a time. When we asked to have it repaired, the owner accused my husband of making disparaging remarks about his property. We weren't trying to be negative; we simply wanted to be able to sleep. It was repaired - but the experience didn't need to be so hard. 2. The bathroom design in the standard rooms is terrible. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a semi-transparent glass wall, making it very difficult for someone to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without waking up their partner. 3. After our experience with the air conditioner, there was no way that we were going to point out that our shower wasn't draining. It was not possible to take a shower without water flowing into the bathroom. Enough negative energy already from the owner. And someone might want to think about updating the photos on Expedia. We stayed in 409 - and the photo of 409 on Expedia looks nothing like the room that we stayed in.
It was very tiny
A beautiful boutique hotel in the middle of the old town. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Gave many good recommendations for things to see and do and nothing was ever a problem. Would highly recommend this beautiful property to anyone travelling to Salzburg.
Best location ever!!
exelent
hotel is at the heart of the town, people were great.thanks a million...
Room is very nice, comfortable and very clean. Front desk staff is very nice, friendly and helpful
Superb small hotel in the heart of Old Town.
A small hotel in the centre of old town, am Dom was a first class place to stay. The hosts were excellent and the room was appointed to a very highly level.
This property is right off the Residenzplatz. Less than 100 feet from the Domplatz. Gads of shopping and dining available right outside your doorstep. Staff very friendly and helpful with info to get around Salzburg.
This property was amazing. Beautiful facilities great staff and unbeatable location. We will definitely stay here again in Salzburg
I would highly recommend this property it’s family run convenient to everything in Salzberg. The staff was amazing they couldn’t have been better and a more gracious host and hostess. I’ve never seen such wonderful service .
Good basic hotel in a great location
Hotel is in a fantastic location. Staff is very helpful. Room was clean but very basic (no coffee in room, pillows were terrible) and small. Twin room is good for one person.
I definitely recommend the Boutiquehotel am Dom hotel. It is in the middle of the "old town" area of Salzburg, you can walk to nice restaurants and the beautiful churches/fortress. The room was spacious enough, clean, good shower, and the breakfast served was delicious and varied! On top of that, the owner and staff were super nice, caring, and attentive.
Excellent property
The owner tells me that he recently renovated the entire property, and it shows. It is a lovely, comfortable hotel in the heart of Salzburg, and the staff is perhaps the most accommodating and helpful group I have run into in 50 years of traveling. Simple things, like giving each person a set of ladles and tongs to select their own breakfast items, cooked to order eggs, and an elegant interior that oozes charm and calm. All this, and historical Salzburg is literally right out the front door. This property is as close to perfect as any traveler could want.
Hell yeah
Awesome little spot in the middle of everything. You’re going to want to stay here.
GREAT Hotel
The service was wonderful - the room was SO nice - and the breakfast was amazing. Definitely will stay again next time we are in Austria! And the location was perfect!
Amazing location and great service. Highly recommend!
Decent hotel!
Hotel has its charm. Because of where it’s located (in the city center), I was told by the hotel that the government wants to preserve as much of the original architecture as possible. This means that the hotel is a bit old school. For example, there is not magnetic lock, therefore they give you a standard key with a key chain that literally weighs a pound. Some might find that charming, but others might find that a bit outdated and a hassle to carry around. Shower heads could be improved. I stayed in the Superior room, and while the space was huge - you would at least expect the shower head to stay in one place and not slide down as you shower. Also, my room came with free breakfast and it was really good!
Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Old Town in Salzburg!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient and gr.eat location
Will be back again!
The staff here could not be nicer… From the sweet staff at the breakfast buffet to the welcome staff at the front desk they made my stay in Salzburg so nice! Stephanie and Nina will help you at the front desk with anything you need! I didn’t get the names of the servers, but they were super! The location was absolutely perfect. Just a few steps away from Mozartplatz and the cathedral and the festival house, Goldgasse and all the shopping… the new town was just a 10 minute walk to the Mozarteum... Salzburg was beautiful!
Amazing staff and perfect location
Absolutely amazing staff and perfect location. You couldn't want for a more comfortable bed (and I'm very picky!). Normally I can't stand how even the big supposedly quality hotel chains provide no toppers or bad ones, no support in the base e.g. sprung slats or sprung base and cheap awful hard mattresses.. not so here in this fantastic boutique hotel in the perfect location of the old town. Medium super comfortable bed in a quality finished boutique styled room with real character in keeping with the old building. I would highly recommend this for the bed alone above any of the other "luxury" hotels e.g. the Radisson Blu. The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful and the whole place has a relaxed atmosphere.. Couldn't recommend highly enough!
The location of hotel was fabulous! We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted.
Peaceful Salzburg Getaway!
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. We got upgraded to a suite which was lovely. The location could not be beat. Air conditioning worked superbly, bed was so comfortable, service excellent, and the overall experience was second to none. We will return.
Vienna
Perfectly located, yet quiet. Wonderful character, good service, yummy breakfast, very clean and attention to detail.
Perfect location, great staff, fancy room easy to get there.
Great location. Small room but well laid out and service was good.
Absolutely recommend staying here
Fantastic location, helpful staff, lovely hotel.
Cute little boutique hotel bang in the centre of the old town. It was very easy to get out and about to restaurants and using the buses. Our room was attractively decorated and very comfortable with a nice modern bathroom. Reception were very helpful and friendly.
Located in old part of Salzburg with a great X-mas market and relaxed festive mood
Amazing hotel and brilliant location - I highly recommend this property of just 15 rooms in the heart of Salzburg
Excellent location and very friendly staff. Helped with a restaurant booking, fluent in English, very accommodating.
Boutiquehotel am Dom was fantastic. I was greeted by name as soon as I walked through the door and the location is incredibly central. It genuinely is close to the cathedral (and Residenzplatz and Getreidegasse etc). The Goldgasse itself is beautiful, too. I stayed in a single room which was small but laid out perfectly so that it felt spacious adn manages to pack in a sofa and desk. The bathroom was actually large and was lovely. Breakfast was top-notch and it was useful that it ran until 10:30. The décor, furtnishings and general style of the hotel are contemporary and stylish. I also thought it was very good value for the overall experience (not least in relation to the central location). I will definitely stay there again next time I come back to Salzburg.
The pro and con of the hotel are the same: its location. It's in the center of the old town, which is grest for food, shopping or sightseeing. But guests with a car have to park far away in a tunnel and you'll have to drive through pedestrians-filled plaza to get there. Plus, you'll have to drag your luggages all the way. If I visit Salzburg again, I probably will stay on the other side of the river but close to the bridge so it'll be a short walk across.
Laura at reception made sure everything was great for us.
Great location
Room very comfortable and clean - bathroom modern and had good quality toiletries - staff very helpful - the location was perfect to see salzberg old town
Close to historical, concert venues and transport. It would be great to have access to swimming pool in this area ,during heat waves.
Great location. Very friendly staff. Extremely comfy with AC. Just a great stay!
Great Hotel
Awesome hotel. Would go back.
Perfect central location
Great location in the Old Town, just a few minutes walk to anywhere we wanted to go. Nicely decorated clean rooms
LOVED this hotel!
This was our favorite place we stayed in a 2 week, 4 country trip to Europe and the UK. Stayed 3 nights. Was glad we included breakfast as it was easy, convenient and very good. The owner was onsite and even made eggs to order for us! He gave us helpful travel tips that made our days there more focused and less overwhelming with options. Rooms and bathroom were spacious and well thought out in design. And the location couldn't have been any easier. Right in the heart of everything.
Excellent location with all the amenities
Centrally located to shopping and attractions, clean, modern rooms, delicious breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Lovely full service hotel.
Fantastic location to explore Salzburg
Great staff, room, and location. Room was charming and a perfect location for exploring Salzburg. Very quiet home base within the old town from which to explore. Literally just minutes walking To practically almost any site or restaurant. Staff was very helpful and the on site breakfast very good. Note there is no onsite parking here or anywhere else in the altstadt if you are driving yourself.
Wonderful stay - will come again!
We arrived for a 2 night stay to a warm welcome and a lovely room. The hotel is perfectly located in Old Town, Salzburg and is right in the middle of things yet quiet and calm. Breakfast was lovely with a full range of foods and great coffee. We will absolutely be back! Very pleased.
Perfect for a fight scene vacation
What a wonderful hotel. From check in to check out, everything was perfect. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel is small and quaint, it feels more like a bed and breakfast which was perfect for the area. The room was perfect size for a family of three. Our only issue was we ran out of hot water by the third shower. The location of this hotel could not have been in the better. This location is in the middle of everything.
Trotter
Hotel was awesome. Figuring our parking was terrible. Get there dang figure out how to get in. You needed a code and we didn't know. Parking was kinda far but it was a great place.
great locale..great rooms
Friendly staff ...small lobby but the rooms were a pleasant surprise. Right in the heart of historic district. ...and a good breakfast as well.
Rude and unreasonable
I had an absolutely bizarre experience with this hotel. While booking online, the website auto populated the dates wrong and put me in for 10 days instead of the 2 I needed. I immediately noticed this and tried to change the dates. They responded in German then phoned me at 3am to discuss it. I asked again to change the reservation and they said I needed to cancel with expedia and rebook with them. I tried but they didn't have any availability. Expedia failed to cancel it. I tried to reason with the hotel but they refused to even discuss it. They said my credit card info didn't work and asked me for my Visa details. Expedia explicitly says not to give this. So I didn't. Apparently it worked eventually because they billed me $3000 and said that I never contacted them to cancel! They have shockingly rude about this. I would strongly recommend that you avoid giving your business to a hotel that treats people so poorly. I have never dealt with a business that is so blatantly rude and unethical. I promise that they care little about you or repeat business. They will take you for whatever they can. Business ethics means nothing to them. There are lots of nice hotels in the same area keep looking.
Nice hotel in Salzburg
Great choice.
Rooms and Location
Our room had all we needed and ask for in a room. The Location of the hotel was excellent.
It was a quiet hotel with only 15 rooms and was in a lovely old building so the rooms were small but beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the airconditioning worked well. Breakfast was extra and was buffet style with breads, cheese and meats, not a huge selection but the quality was good. We chose to go out most days and The rooms had a minibar with drinks in, there was no room service or restaurant however 2 doors down was a very good Chinese and an Austrian restaurant, there was no shortage of great eating paces within a few minutes walk.
Very central ,ovation with helpful staff
Stayed two nights in a somewhat small, but very well supplied room. Good value breakfast including perfect soft boiled egg.
am Dom Review
Our stay at am Dom was wonderful. We had a warm welcome on arrival. The person at reception was very helpful with the check-in process and tips on what to do during our stay. The hotel itself is really nice and location is just amazing being located in the heart of Old Salzburg. In the evenings it seems you have the Old Town sights to yourself. The hotel is in an 800 year old building which has been creatively and tastefully converted into this delightful boutique hotel. Josef who is the owner shared the history and gave us a guided tour too. He was fun to chat to and is very involved in the running of the hotel too. The team at am Dom have set standards for the rest of our trip which will be hard to match! Great stay overall.
Perfect location
Great service, language skills, room, breakfast, information about the area
Boutique gem in heart of Old Salzburg
Location is perfect! Hotel is modern inside a historic building. Large room and bathroom, very comfortable. Friendly staff. Good breakfast for 12 Euros. Park in Stadtgarage B in city walls. Hotel offers discount.
A fantastic find
The am Dom is in an incredible location - quieter than the Gesteiderstrasse - and near the Dom Church complex and the short walk up to the funicular to the fortress. There are many restaurants in the area and the staff of the hotel is more than willing to offer suggestions. The room I had was small (long and narrow) with two single beds arranged heat to head along one long wall. However, for one person there was plenty of space to move around. With two persons it would be more crowded, but you're not in Salzburg to stay in your room!
Walk the City from this Gem Hotel
The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful, the hotel is very nice and my room was cozy with every convenience.
Perfection!
This hotel's location, along with its medieval structure with modern updates make it one of the best hotels we have visited. Our room was on the street side, very spacious and quiet. We found the staff to be warm and professional. Don't miss the morning breakfast, you will not be disappointed. We will be recommending this to all our friends who pan to visit Salzburg.
Great location!
Enjoyed the location in the heart of the Old City.
Small Modern Hotel in the Old Town
This small hotel is located in the heart of the Old Town Since the entire area is a pedestrian zone and closed to traffic, you are allowed to drive to the hotel only to drop off your luggage. And even for this limited access, the hotel is extremely difficult to find and requires calling for the code to open the metal barriers. In addition, since parking is not permitted in the area, the only option is to park in an underground garage that is a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel and that costs 22 euros a day. Salzburg is a pretty little town that's overrun with tourists during the day. The principal sites can be easily seen in a day. There's really no reason to spend the night here at all but if you're planning to do so, we would recommend finding a hotel outside of the Old Town, especially if you're driving to Salzburg. Otherwise, it's probably worth a day trip if you're staying in Vienna, but not more.
Great find in Salzburg
Hotel was in a great location in the city center on a quiet street. The staff were very nice and helpful. Clean and spacious rooms. Only complaint would be the frosted doors on the toilet room along with a gap between the dot and the wall (lacks privacy). Otherwise, absolutely no complaints about this hotel. I would recommend it for couples.
We stayed at Hotel Am Dom for two nights, based on its Trip Advisor rating and for the most part I would say this hotel would rate a 4 or 5 rating from me usually. The facilities were fine, the room clean and adequate, the position fantastic. There was an experience on the day we checked out that brought this hotel down in our opinion, and it was quite disturbing. The incident went as follows... On the day we were checking out, we raced out in the morning and picked up a couple of souvenirs that we wanted before we checked out. We then went back to the hotel, and walked in and asked the receptionist (who was vacuuming) how long it would take for a taxi to get there (wondering whether to order a taxi before we went up and got our bags, or just get one after we came down to check out). Some guy that looked like a cleaner walked out of a back room and started yelling at us 'THE TAXIS ARE ONLY 50 meters UP THE ROAD, WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR LEGS, WHY CANT YOU WALK UP THERE'. Like really giving it to us. Mind you we both had 20+ kg bags, and backpacks to carry, AND we had no clue there were taxis 50m up the road. So I'm saying to this guy, fine we'll walk up with our suitcases, no problem, and he's still yelling 'WHAT's WRONG WITH YOUR LEGS...WALK TO THE TAXI' kind of incoherently. So we go get our bags, bring them down, check out...all the while this guy is still ranting at us.. Apparently this guy we thought was the cleaner is THE MANAGER! Way to treat paying customers!
Near Perfect.
Everything about this hotel is nice. Location, rooms, staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast was fresh and plentiful. If you prefer hotels other then the big chains, this is one to choose.
Small and friendly
We had a lot of trouble finding the hotel because the GPS kept sending us down one way streets...the wrong way. But when we found the parking and then the hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised. It was small, quiet yet in the middle of attractions and shopping. Very comfortable and modern with old world charm.
Salzburg Stay
We received the most outstanding service at Boutique Hotel am Dom, as compared to the other 8 hotels we stayed at on this trip. The proprietor did everything possible to assist with our visit to Salzburg. Also, the hotel was in a fantastic location, virtually next door to all the major attractions. The trade off, of course, is the lack of parking -- but we were aware of that and the GPS took us directly to the large underground parking garage, so it was not a huge deal to roll our suitcase to the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.
Wonderful modern hotel in a perfect location
We loved this place. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The interior treatment is designed and executed superbly. It's situated in the middle of historic Salzburg.
Right in the heart of Salzburg is this little gem of a boutique hotel - just perfect! It is clean, well decorated, updated, and air conditioned!!! It is literally in the midst of it all and a bargain - with a fantastic breakfast. The staff is helpful and kind - and very attentive!!!
Perfect location with friendly staff
This hotel is in the perfect location steps to most tourist spots. It's very modern rooms are well appointed. I've been traveling a lot, and this staff is the most friendly and helpful of any I've encountered. Explained the room features when they escort you to your room on check in ( only 15 rooms in the place). They booked my dinner reservation at a place that was "booked up" on line by calling and getting us a table. Called cabs for us etc. The breakfast was decent. You will pay at least €10 anywhere else since it's all tourist prices. Definitely recommend.
Perfect location and great service!
The hotel is perfectly located to explore the main sites in Salzburg and the service at the hotel was excellent. Rooms were very comfortable.
Great location
The hotel is in a great location. Very clean and staff very pleasant. Booked on room only basis and that was perfect lots of lovely places for food all times of day nearby at reasonable prices. Disappointed that there was not a bar in the hotel when I thought there was and the room literature said it was open till midnight each night. Adequate minibar but was not what I was looking for as went with family and would have been nice to finish the day off with a nightcap in the hotel bar. The rooms themselves were more than adequate would have liked instructions on how to use the air conditioning. The towels were a little disappointing not white and fluffy as you expect of a hotel more hard and beige (that was there colour not dirty) and not very big. But all of my criticism is outweighed by the location.
Fantastic place! Clean, cute decor, great location, fast wifi, everything I wanted! The staff is very friendly!
Amazing place to stay! Best location for everything you want to do in Salzburg - shopping, sightseeing, restaurants, etc.. All within walking distance. You're in the center of it all! Fantastic!
800 Years in the Making
The very engaging owner of this ideally located property was eager to tell us that he was the designer who retrofitted this building from the Middle Ages into a delightful, contemporary and exclusive hotel. We counted only 13 rooms on 6 floors, decent-sized rooms by European standards with comfortable beds, excellent plumbing fixtures and, best of all, heated floors in the bathroom and WC. Despite being right in the heart of the old city and only steps from the main attractions, it was quiet at night and we found the Boutiquehotel am Dom to be a wonderful place to stay.
Salzburg Christmas Markets visit
Fantastic stay at the Hotel am Dom. Greay location close to the Christmas markets and castle.
Amazing Hotel in Salzburg
Hotel Am Dom is perfectly located in the center of the old town. Lots of shops and food opportunities right next to the hotel. The staff and owner were very nice and accommodating! The room was large, comfortable, quiet and full of all the amenities. Breakfast's in the morning were also very nice. I will definitely be back!
Lovely boutique hotel
Location great for a quick infusion of culture during a work trip. Hotel staff friendly, helpful, they went above and beyond. Breakfast was good value and quality and tasty. Will happily return, and I don't always say that.
The hotel is just off of the Cathedral square, which is convenient to everything....many stores, restaurants, and historical sites nearby. The hotel is small (in an old building) with about 16 rooms. My room was very clean, modern, and quiet. The food at breakfast was very good and filling. The hotel manager was fantastic.....answering all of my questions and providing advice on what to do. All in all a very good experience.
