Blue House Hotel

The hotel was noisy at night and we couldn’t get a good night sleep during the 5 nights we stayed there. The rooftop bar had loud music until very late at night. The other hotel guests were loud and the doors slammed when closing. Aside from that, the location was really good as well as the staff who were really helpful and welcoming.

Very central and convenient. Rooms are European small but great location to all necessities needed be.

A HOME AT THE BLUE HOUSE

I stayed at The Blue House Hotel for 5 nights and it was the best hotel experience in a 20+ day through Turkey. Amazing staff (who do really go beyond their jobs), unmatchable location, and a breathtaking view from the rooftop restaurant. I will always stay here whenever I return to Istanbul.

Property was in perfect location to see all of the tourist sites. It was quiet and clean, a wonderful breakfast also. We arrived much later than expected (after midnight) and they assisted us getting settled.

We had a great, comfortable time at the Blue House hotel. The staff members were very helpful and friendly. Reshad helped us to organize things to do. The breakfast was great, especially the scrambled eggs with tomatoes. The location is fabulous, about one block from the park that joins the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. In this park is also a historic hammam. Even closer is a small bazaar with interesting shops. The area is hilly, so you have walk up or down to get to most nearby shops and restaurants.

Hotel is near of the main touristic area

Lovely from the outside. A bit dated from the inside. Basic rooms. Breakfast fairly basic.

Everything was Good, it was close to Everything. We feel safe walking around.

Excellent location within short walk of Sultan Ahmet mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapı Palace, Basilica Cisterns and the tram. Walking to the Grand Bazaar was very doable. Well located and yet quiet and tucked away. Staff were wonderful and friendly. 24 hour concierge always ready to help. Room was pretty and clean with nice amenities (slippers, toothpaste, water, etc). I plan to return in a few months. I wish the breakfast started earlier than 8:00.

The hotel was nice and clean it was very convenient located near Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and Topaki Palace. Everything's very convenient and within walking distance this was the best thing about it the hotel was nice and clean. The was very respectable. This booking did the job and I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Istanbul is well worth it. The stuff already helpful if you need to book any excursions and will do that almost try to accommodate your request.

Great property location

This is a well located hotel within walking distance to all of the main tourist sites. It is almost next door to the Blue Mosque. Everything is good except wi-do is a bit sketchy. Sometimes it works well in the lobby, but not in the room. I was on the 3rd floor. I would recommend this hotel.

Imagine seeing blue mosque in front of you from your room. 2mins walk to blue mosque and 4mins walk to hagia sofia. Great location. Nice rooftop restaurant. Awesome staff and service. Only small problem was wifi sometimes disconnected.

The staff were very nice and respectful especially a receptionist under the name of Fatih was very nice and answered all our questions. The location is amazing we would walk to blue mosque and Hagia Sofia. Breakfast was vey delicious and varied. The rooftop was very relaxing and nice view.

Blue House Hotel is located within walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and other famous landmarks of this beautiful city. The hotel has a hotel on the top floor which has wonderful/breathtaking views of the Blue Mosque and Bosporus Sea. Our hotel room and bathroom was on the small side for 3 people, but it was cleaned everyday, fresh towels and toiletries were left for our use. Breakfast was very tasty with a large selection of fresh vegetables, fruits, cakes, cheese, olives and a variety of salads. Also cereals, jams and hot and cold drinks were available. Hasan on the reception desk was always very helpful and gave advise when asked. My only criticism would be that the hotel did not allow an iron in the room. If we wanted our clothes ironed then we had to pay for laundry and an ironing service.

Best location

It is well designed 4 stars quality hotel. The Location is amazing at Old City. Terrace has restaurant and excellent view. Entrance has a comfy lobby, restaurant and helpful staff. Management is well educated family treat you respect and hospitality. Some rooms are excellent on size and view but some rooms are smallish. Overall it is nice cute hotel at the heart of Istanbul

The hotel was terribly disappointing. This is the second time we stay here and although the location was excellent, which at this point seems to be the only draw, the hotel was so dirty. The breakfast that was supposed to be over by 10:30 was finished by 9:30 and I saw a mouse running around in the dining room. The breakfast selection was basically cereal by the time we went at 9:45. The room was not clean and the bathroom was mouldy and the shower didn't really work.

A good and cheap hotel to stay in.

Hotel was in a very good location, tram service available to all parts of Istanbul, generally happy with the hotel and would come back again.

This Hotel, not unlike a few others, is in the prime location some walkable, some require a short 5min journey. They are the Blue Mosque which is Literaily next door, Hagia Sophia 5min walk, Topkapi Palace and Bacilia Cestine about 10mins walk and the Grand Bazaar. The attractions aside, its quite has a terrace resturant with great views, the breakfast wad great and the room interior beautiful and bathroom equpped with a powerful shower, free toilteries, hair dry and there is daily room service if you request it. I didnt try the minibar ad i was out exploring most days. You will find the staff are eager to help, especially Firat and Hasan eith any questions or help with booking tours and trips.

The location is best part of the deal as it’s in a waking distance from the historical locations, multiple types of restaurants and bazaars. The front desk guys are very friendly and helpful in arranging the city tours and airport transport. However, the room was very small same as it the bathroom.

Perfect location if you don’t mind smallest room

The hotel is in a perfect location next door to all Istanbul attractions and a good roof top restaurants. The room size was maybe 16m so little felt claustrophobic. Breakfast was only OK

Loved everything about it. Breakfast was provided and great as well. We walked right out our door and all the sights were right there. We will definitely stay again if we go back. It's a hidden gem.

Excellent location to historical sites. Very nice staff and helpful especially Mr Forat & Yousif. Not properly cleaned rooms, bedding sheets and bathrooms, outdated decorations and furnishings. Breakfast was reasonable but lacking labels and cold. You can hear noise from rooms above using bathrooms not properly sound insulated being fairly old hotel. The hotel rating is between 2-3 stars, it needs some attention and improvement to gain 3-4 stars.

Blue mosque

The hotel was cute and had a homey vibe to it. Staff super friendly and helpful. The only thing I would complain about is the wifi was very glitchy and not reliable.

We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Hotel. Its close to the Blue Mosque, has an open terrace restaurant with amazing view of the mosque! The rooms are cute, love the wooded closets and chairs. Staff is friendly and helpful!!

Our stay at blue house was wonderful, and would have been great, even if we had not reserved the so-called sultans suite. That room has an incredible view of the blue mosque, about 100 yards away. But the property has a fantastic staff as well, and is in a great neighborhood of the old city. The view from the terrace restaurant on the rooftop is unmatched, and the food was also great. We would definitely stay there again.

Close to all the major places to visit. Also close to the street car stations. Many restaurants to choose too. Everything was good. Best place to stay in Istanbul at reasonable price.

We had a lovely 5 nights at Blue House Hotel, and enjoyed our stay over my birthday this May,21. It was such a treat to walk into my spacious room and see a birthday decorations and plates with fruits waiting for me. The staff was amazing and very helpful, room cleaned as expected. And the location is excellent. It was a few minutes to walk to Hagia Sofia Grand Mosque. It was a fantastic time at the hotel and we highly recommend it. We would return!!!

Good: Location is excellent with direct view of blue mosque. Bad: 1) Only one of staff in the morning time at reception was rude and unfriendly/had bad attitude. 2 days during breakfast there was no coffee. When we asked about it, he suggested coffee is not part of breakfast and recommended to buy coffee in cafe outside. When we challenged that coffee is part of breakfast, he said we are wrong. I asked him for his name so that we could complain to management but he said he is not obliged to provide his name as this is just boutique hotel. Whatever it is is, his behaviour and attitude was totally shock to us. Rest of staff were welcoming. 2) wifi simply did not work inside room. We complained about it but they could not fix it.

My sisters and I stayed for 2 and a half days at the Blue House Hotel. We loved the service, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the rooms had very cute and spacious feel to them. We personally loved the late night conversations we had on the terrace restaurant and the Turkish chai available to us in the nights on the patio. The location is also great with the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia a ten step walk away from the hotel doors. Close to the metro and other attractions as well. Special shout out to Fatih and Orhan for making our stay especially memorable. Would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Istanbul and don’t forget to say hi to the hotel kitty! :) Thanks Blue House! Can’t wait to visit again soon!

Proximity to landmark sites

What I liked: A- Location: The hotel is conveniently located within a very short walking distance of Istanbul’s “must-see” sites of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia- Blue Mosque Park, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Hippodrome, Arasta Bazar, and Hurrem Sultan Historical Turkish Bath. Sultan Ahmet Station tram is also close. The hotel is also within a reasonable walking distance to Little Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazar, Egyptian Bazar, Vezneciler Subway Station, Sirkeci/Marmaray Transport Station, Gulhane Park, and Eminonu (famous fish sandwich). The hotel surrounding area offers an endless number of restaurants, gifts and souvenir shops, and mini-markets. B- Safety: The hotel’s surrounding area is very safe. C- Reception team: The team was excellent. Team members were always ready to help in a professional and cordial manner. Special thanks to “Furat” for his sincere efforts in making guests enjoy their stay at the Blue House Hotel. He was also motivated, prompt in action, and provided good advice. Good job. D- Room/Housekeeping: The room was reasonable in size. It was clean. Towels and bed sheets were changed daily. Fresh supplies of toiletries were provided every day. Thank you. What I disliked: Breakfast: The variety was good. However, the breakfast team was not up to the task. Despite rescue attempts (by Omar), shortcomings were repeated and had a negative impact on breakfast. It is a shame as this hotel is unique for offering a spacious in/outdoor dining area.

The property is very run down and old. The front desk staff was kind however, not very helpful. The facility appeared unclean. The location is however good. Traffic is terrible in this area and therefore, hard to go leave by taxi. I would not recommend this property

The location is incredible. Right next to the Blue Mosque. Stunning views of the Sea of Marmara. You are in the heart of the old town.

The hotel is old and not well maintained. On my day of arrival they didn’t have water at all and I had to wash myself with bottled water.

Central location

Location was good. Staff were helpful. Breakfast more than average. Just be aware that extra services such as laundry and shuttle MUST be paid in cash (Euros). Credit card are not accepted except for hotel room payment. Laundry is also quoted in Euros rather than Lira. Perhaps you can just find a laundry place yourself.

Wonderful hotel right in the center of all the attractions. This hotel is about a 45 minute car ride from Istanbul airport. We booked the hotel’s private van which was about 15 Euros per person round trip. Check in process was quick and easy. Staff was great and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Bathrooms were small. Breakfast buffet was sufficient. Although not a lot of choices but it served the purpose. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within a 2-5 minute walk. Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are about 3-5 minute walk. Overall the stay was very pleasant. We would definitely consider returning to this hotel.

A great place to stay

What a great stay. The Blue Mosque was right outside our window. The staff were attentive and helpful. One of the staff even helped my wife and I carry our luggage to the airport bus five minutes walk across the square between the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. The breakfast was excellent although we were very disappointed that it was in their ground floor dining area not on their roof top terrace which is only open from 12 noon to midnight. The hotel even has a scale for weighing luggage. You'll need a pair of earplugs if you sleep with the window open as the early morning call to prayer and nighttime dinner show across the street will otherwise keep you up.

Good breakfast, the front desk man went above and beyond to schedule a last minute visit to the closer Hamam and a taxi ride to the airport on a very busy day when we were already running late.

We stayed in this location for three days and two nights and the staff was very warm and welcoming throughout our stay. Very attentive to our needs and the customer service was excellent. The room was clean and well maintained. Although we were not able to see the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia from the room, the view from the upstairs restaurant is beautiful. Also it is conveniently located to these landmarks.

Great Location but street noise transmits easily.

Check in went smooth, but for the price we paid, we would get 2 single beds, since the last queen bed room available was their premium room. I paid for the upgrade and glad I did. Can’t beat the location of the hotel. Place was clean. However, due to central location, the place is a bit noisy from the street. The live music & whirling dervish show will go till midnight, dogs will bark after the music stops, and then the call for prayer will awaken you just as you nodded off. None of this is the fault of the hotel, but it is a reality. Bedding is a bit out dated and they could use an additional electrical outlet for charging devices, but other than that I would stay there again. Also, day time staff spoke good English, however night shift does not, nor did the wait staff on the roof top restaurant. View was great on the roof, but food was mediocre at best. Also, room phone to call front desk either does not work, or it needs instructions next to the phone. Can not contact front desk with room phone.

Amazing historical stay at the Blue House Hotel

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Blue House Hotel. The hotel is a beacon of history and is located a stone's throw from the Blue Mosque. The location is prime for Sultanahmet with numerous sights within a 5 minute walk. The rooftop view is magical. The breakfast is delectable and ample. We sat in the garden under the shade of the Blue Mosque every morning of our stay. The staff is also very kind. We did not get the family room as we booked, but the staff made sure to apologize for the mistake and we were upgraded to sea view rooms. Additionally, we had a 3:30am departure on the last night of our stay and the hotel staff made sure that we had breakfast plates prior to leaving. We were very impressed by this small but meaningful touch. I highly recommend a stay here! Keep in mind however that the rooms and bathrooms are very small, though probably standard for the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul.

Blue House, Istanbul.

We first visited the Blue House in the nineties. It hasn’t really changed that much. It’s not expensive for what you get and the rooftop terrace gives stunning views over the Blue Mosque and Sultanahmet. You can also see Haghia Sophia. Some of the rooms are really quite small but perhaps all you need for a short stay. It’s definitely in a quiet and central area for the historic sites. There is a faded element to the hotel; you feel some money could be spent upon it. The service is generally good but a little unstructured perhaps. Breakfast is a comprehensive buffet with Turkish dishes too.

Ideal location

Great hotel! The location couldn't be better. Service was excellent. Terrace restaurant was convenient as well. Nice view of the Blue Mosque and water right out our window. Shower was small, but a small price to pay for such a great location.

Great location for exploring Istanbul.

Amazing location for the price. Only a 2 minute walk to the Blue Mosque area. About 5 minutes to the metro and restaurants. We had a view of the Blue Mosque to the right and the Bosphorus straight to the left. The bathrooms are small, but the location and view made up for it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though we were right in the middle of things, the hotel was very quiet and peaceful.

Best possible location, half a block to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Staff were super friendly. They couldn't do enough for you.

Solo Trip

I enjoyed my stay at Blue House Hotel. The room was on the smaller side but enough for me as I was traveling alone. Breakfast was a viable in the morning downstairs in buffet style. The hotel is really close to the Blue Mosque so everything in the Sultanahmet area is easily accessible. It’s also close to the metro so you can easily get to any point in the city. My only compliant would be the noise that you can here from outside, Other than that my stay was nice. The hotel is safe and someone is always st the front desk.

The best thing about the hotel are the staff and it’s procimity to all the major attractions.

Great Location, Superb View

This hotel is about 400 yards from the tram stop, which offers a connection (with 1 change) to Ataturk Airport. The room we were given (36) had a superb view of the Blue Mosque, however it was just a little on the small size and the bathroom was definitely on the small size, the toilet was right in front of the shower and you had to clamber over it to get into the shower, also you had to sit on the toilet at an angle. Everything was clean though. The furniture in the room was a little dated. Breakfast was a little ordinary, but it was included in the room price. Surprisingly enough considering it was Turkey, there was only instant coffee available. The staff were extremely helpful. The location was brilliant, within easy walking distance of most things. I would certainly stay there again !

Gem of a hotel

The helpful staff arranged an airport shuttle for me as i had never been to the city. The check in was easy and the room beautiful. A great space and windows that open. Lovely breakfast everyday and friendly staff always there to help. I would go happily go back, and recommend to anyone who wants to explore the history spectacle of Istanbul.

Perfect location

We got a room on the 3rd floor on the side and we had a direct view of the Blue Mosque. It was post card perfect. It was a short walk from the metro, make sure you walk towards the Blue Mosque, near the left back side & that's where the Blue House Hotel is. The bath rooms were a bite small but still very nice. Only problem I had was the central air. It control what I was able to try on. (I like cool temp, I just left the windows open whenever I returned to my room. I would definitely stay here again.

Small hotel in a fabulous location. View from the roof terrance of The Blue Mosque could not be bettered! Hotel facilities were OK and were perfectly adequate for a city break. We had a small room but I know that bigger rooms were available for a higher price that also had a fabulous view

the Blue House was ideally located in the centre of Istanbul's Sultanamet. It was a great location to get around and see all the main tourist attractions. The staff were very friendly.

Great location

What a great hotel right in the center of the historic section of Istanbul. I was able to make arrangements by email for airport pick up and also booked a great dinner cruise. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was a delicious way to begin the day of wandering. The room was perfect and the bed was comfortable. The only negative was I had to leave.

Excellent three star hotel

This small hotel is in an excellent location in the Old Town; we stayed on two different occasions and although our rooms were small we could not fault their cleanliness. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with arranging transportation. A full buffet breakfast was included in the price and contained all you could wish for. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to friends.

Great location and roof-top terrace

My teenage daughter and I had a great 4 day stay in Istanbul, walking everywhere thanks to the great location of this hotel. You cannot get a hotel closer to the blue mosque (great views from room and roof-top terrace). The staff were lovely and the rooms clean and comfortable. Only surprise was it only got 3 stars. I think it is worth 4 stars! We will definitely stay here next time we visit this beautiful city.

Best located hotel in Istanbul

Great location, very close to all major tourist spots in old city of Istanbul. Hotel layout is fantastic with a ground floor lounge, restaurant and breakfast room and a garden lounge. On the roof is a fabulous terrace restaurant the looks straight at the Blue Mosque.

Istanbul 2015 trip

We stayed for five nights and was convenient to get into the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia walking. The hotel should offer a little more to the gust such as all day refereshments like some other hotels.

Small, friendly hotel in great location
