We loved our stay at Blind Tiger! So many thoughtful touches.
One of the best hotel/bnb experiences I’ve had in my past year of travels. Would recommend to anyone going to Maine.
Charming place to stay.
Such a beautiful experience
WOW! What an amazing hotel! We had such a beautiful stay and LOVED Portland. The room was so comfortable and quiet. Beautifully appointed too. As an interior designer, I kept taking pictures and videos of all the beautiful details. The hotel company left the most amazing list of restaurants and things to do and we’re so glad we took their advice. We found spots we would never have known about otherwise. The Japanese restaurant they recommend was OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Everything was great!
Beautiful. May our paths cross again next time.
Beautiful property, friendly staff and great location.
Love staying in old B&B houses that have been tastefully modernized inside. Staff was very helpful with accommodations.
Pros: it's a nice-looking converted house in a good neighborhood. the staff was friendly. and I appreciated their guide to local restaurants, bars and activities. Cons: one of the most uncomfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on. felt similar to a cheap pull-out couch, where you sink to the bottom and can feel a support bar in the middle. we struggled to fall asleep and woke up with aches and pains. completely sub-standard, especially for the price (almost $600/night incl. taxes). also, our bathroom had a cord hanging from the ceiling, with a bare wire where a light fixture would normally be.
Rooms were absolutely beautiful. Great breakfast and lots of thoughtful touches including free snack bar, board games and local recommendations. Highly recommend!
Best place to stay in Portland! The decor, service and location are awesome, this is my second time staying here!
If you want something more Eclectic and off the beaten path. Beautiful historic home that’s a bed and breakfast. Attt
Staff was so helpful and the breakfast was delicious! Our shower drained a little slow (old homes!) but they fixed it right away. It is a beautiful hotel in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood, but we could still walk to everything.
A stay at Blind Tiger is like visiting a gracious and stylish friend. There are so many details that helped to make me feel welcome and at home. And the coffee in the morning is delicious! Located in a residential neighborhood instead of a tourist area adds to feeling like a local. And I appreciated the excellent recommendations for places to eat in the "Guide" on the website. Also Check-in and check-out were effortless; even though they were contact-less still felt personal.
The property is incredibly special. Wonderful service too.
We loved the cleanliness of the property. They really kept it true the historic nature of the property, which we really appreciated. We only had 2 small concerns: 1. The back garden was peaceful and beautiful, but a bit overgrown (trimming up and/or shaping some of the growth would have been nice 2.The shower in our bathroom was very difficult to adjust temperature (the knob kept falling off in our hand, but no big deal we managed just fine).
Excellent!
My stay was very comfortable the room was very clean. Service and food were great.
A lovely stay! The room was immaculate! The breakfast was delicious! We will be back!
Wonderful experience and hospitality! Made the visit to Portland extra special. Would definitely stay again.
Small and cozy, extremely quiet, great breakfasts, host Jim is pleasant and knowledgeable about the area
Great quiet area in walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We did not need a car to get around. Inn keeper very punctual, organized and courteous. All good!
Three nights and two days in Portland.
We had a very comfortable two days in the Inn the room was quiet and very clean. Jim provided a delicious breakfast and in fact its was one of the best we have ever enjoyed in a hotel. The Inn was a short walk from the down town area and it was easy to walk to our restaurant fro dinner in the evenings.
I loved the interior decorating. The bed was extremely comfortable. The service was great. This is my first time using an inn for accomodations.I was totally impressed!
Great Start to a State
The Inn on Carleton was an amazing start to a wonderful trip! Jim was the kindest and friendliest first face anyone could ask for when going to Portland! After some slight problems for our arrival, Jim was so accommodating and surprised my wife and I with gifts for our honeymoon! Breakfast was so good and we loved the home that we were in. We were easily able to get around Portland and find restaurants and fun activities all evening and morning.
I HIGHLY recommend staying at this charming, super clean Bed and Breakfast. Jim the owner is so helpful and nice! Not to mention that the breakfast included with your stay is by far the best I have had at any Bed and Breakfast that I have stayed at.
The Inn on Carleton is a great property. Fantastic old house, super comfortable bed and room overall. The breakfasts were tasty and a great overall experience!
If you are looking for something charming, this is the place
Quiet rooms, excellent mattress and bedding/ towels, etc. Plenty of local info in room. Breakfast - incredible! Nice, unique other without being too sophisticated.
We had a lovely stay at the Inn! Jim is a wonderful host and, after hearing a little bit about our plans, gave us some great recommendations for pre-dinner drinks in the area. Our room was very comfortable, and as other reviewers have mentioned, breakfast was fantastic! We highly recommend this B&B and look forward to a return visit.
Great location- Many restaurants, taverns, and sites within walking distance. The breakfast served each morning was excellent!
Everything was good. Only negative was the "group breakfast" concept for all guests. I would have preferred a buffet.
Absolutely loved this place from the moment we stepped through the front door . Pristine , homely , and tastefully furnished.Jim is a perfect innkeeper , extremely informative but in no way intrusive plus his breakfasts are out of this world . One of the unique aspects of the inn is that there are snacks , fresh fruit and home baked goodies available in the afternoon/evening . We both enjoyed sitting around the table with other guests at breakfast , it was a wonderful start to the day and something I missed at our next stop in New England . I really hope we are able to return one day to this special place .
Great stay!!
We loved our room and Jim was incredible!
Perfect stay
Warm welcome by proprietor. Very elegant and comfortable dining room and parlor. Delicious breakfast. Very quiet room. Beautiful linens and very comfortable bed. Every aspect of the stay was perfect.
Portland gem
Nicely appointed, comfortable room, good location, good restaurants nearby, great breakfasts. Jim was a cheerful, accommodating host.
I thought this B&B was beautifully furnished. It was extremely clean and updated. Nice touches throughout the house. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely return.
The old building was not only beautiful, but had been updated with all modern conveniences. The breakfast was magnificent and the afternoon snacks were delightful.
This is a beautiful home , the room and ensure were lovely . Breakfast was fantastic and we really enjoyed dining with the other guests! Martha did an amazing job and also had great tips for touring Portland and the area. Highly recommend staying here!
A wonderful stay in Portland
Martha and Jim were wonderful hosts during our two day stay, guiding us with restaurant and museum ideas for our days exploring Portland. The inn is a beautiful restored 19th century home on a quiet tree-lined street, with large comfortable rooms that are beautifully appointed. Room was quiet, bed was incredibly comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We will surely be back. Thank you Jim and Martha!
Lovely place it was very quiet and well located. The owner was friendly and helpful
One night visitors
Excellent boutique guesthouse in a beautiful neighborhood. The breakfast was excellent and overall cleanliness and comfort more than met expectations.
Personal service was great. Delicious breakfast . Nice to meet other people at breakfast . Good location.
Outstanding!
The Inn was a fantastic find. Jim is an excellent host and the breakfast was amazing. We will definitely be staying there again,
Wonderful stay, cozy place! Very clean! Breakfast is outstanding! Jim is awesome!
Great stay!
We had an amazing stay. Jim made us feel very welcome, gave us great recommendations for restaurants, and cooked a fantastic breakfast in the morning. The room (room 2) was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The location is perfect, walking distance to everything, free parking and in a really cozy area. It’s a lovely place to stay, and we would definitely stay again!
Very pleasant Inn
Lovely we'll run Inn providing tea and cookies late afternoon and an excellent breakfast
The property management and staff were very courteous and it was obvious they worked hard to ensure a comfortable stay. I was not a fan of the stairs but I guess that is part of the Brownstone design. Breakfast was good but perhaps a chalkboard posting the menu for the day so that guests can opt in or out and notify in advance. The location was great close to all the local attractions!
Beautiful older row house in a picturesque area.Jim was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was unique, elegant and very flavorful. This was a brief stay but we will definitely be back.
unique 150 year old bed and breakfast -- great breakfast served to you

If you travel for business not ideal
This hotel is slightly more upscale than your typical business chain, and it may be a great option for leisure travelers. However, for a business stay, it fell a bit short. The limited breakfast hours (8–10 AM) meant we had to leave without eating, and I couldn’t find any coffee available in the lobby before heading out. Additionally, the room didn’t have a desk, which made it difficult to get work done, something I rarely come across in hotels. On a positive note, the snack room was a nice touch and much appreciated.
