Beautiful property... cleanliness... Reasonable price.
Given key to our “cabin” and upon entering found beds still left from previous person, dirty towels on floor and room not cleaned. Returned key to receptionist and she gave me a second key to another room - exactly same issue in this room. Return a 3rd time to reception, get another room key ….. yes same thing! Housekeeping is called to clean one room while I wait but no cleaning was done - just new sheets and towels while cleaning products remain outside the room on the cart. I request a full refund and eventually am offered a full refund - but so far have not received anything. Needless to say we didn’t stay at this place and will not be recommending to others.
I didn't fully understand before getting there how much it's like a rustic summer camp more than a hotel. Then the labyrinth and chapel make sense. I would like to have a clock radio in the room for a wake-up alarm. Also soap and shampoo. The trail beside the lake is wonderful.
Serene and quiet, very comfortable rooms/bedding. Easy check in and out, great, wholesome food.
Good place
quiet nice
Terrible !! Not Covid safe - not comfortable
This place is religious retreat and not a hotel/motel. It should never be listed on a hotel booking site because it is not a hotel. I was shocked when I arrived to find the room I paid $100 per night for was actually a room in a shared 70's style house with a shared bathroom!! A shared bathroom in a pandemic ! Really! How many health orders does that violate? In addition the shared bathroom on my floor was unusable for 2 days because the toilet was plugged ? With what? By who? I had to use the shared bathroom in the basement of the house. I have a very bad back, going up and downstairs is extremely painful. I tried contacting someone - anyone but got no response. I guess they were too busy walking the labarinth instead of trying care of guests. I tried booking out and going somewhere else but it was Labour Day weekend and nothing was available. This place may function as a religious retreat but it in no way functions as a hotel/motel. It was absolutely shocking!
Excellent value
Excellent value for a hostel-like place with shared bathrooms and common area. Nice & quiet location.
Pros: - Beautiful lakefront property - Kind, friendly staff. - Inexpensive compared to other accommodations. - Clean rooms and bathrooms. Cons: - Despite claiming that they require proof of vaccination, we were not asked once about our vaccination status. It was not clear whether any other guests had been required to show their proof of vaccination either. - Several other "Expedia guests" were loud and extremely inconsiderate about noise in the evening. The rooms are poorly insulated for noise. - Parking was a constant problem. The site was used as a gathering place for non-guests, and we had to park elsewhere twice because non-guests had taken all of the parking places on the property.
Peaceful in beautiful forested setting
Nice, friendly, close to lake, good energy
Quiet, tranquil setting
Beautiful scenery and neighborhood. Building a bit old
Great place to rest ad relax. The staff are friendly and respectful. Thanks
This is a beautiful, peaceful setting on a lake with trails. Accommodations' are basic and they are what I expected for the price. I will definitely return.
I have no idea why this site defaults to Spanish, lol. Anyway, the place was very nice. Quiet, clean, very peaceful. They hold meetings there some nights, so parking was a bit of a nightmare.
Lovely place located right by the lake and with amazing surroundings to rest. 5 minute Walk to a public beach and 10min drive to downtown Nanaimo. Staff is great! Washrooms are generally shared.
The staff were friendly and courteous even after the last from Naniamo was late arriving. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Thank you for trying to keep things affordable.
Good place to stay
This was like being at summer camp, in a cabin. Though a little hot in the room (it's mid summer), this beat staying in a noisy roadside motel hands down. There's a wooded trail around a lake just beside the complex. Nice!
Pros: Quiet and peaceful area. Comfy and clean room. Close to restaurant and beach. Staff is very kind. Access to shared balcony and lounge area. Cons: Far from downtown via public transport (~30min bus ride). Noise travels easily between rooms. Shared bathroom.
Clean, quiet and well maintained. If you’re looking for a restful place in a stunning location this is it.
Simple, clean, secure
This place offers a hostel type accommodation but with a lock to your own room. Older place but beautiful property. Amenities are simple.
The place is very quiet and very beautiful. It is next to Westwood Lake Park where I walked along the lake trail. The room is very clean. The share bathroom is also very clean. The staff is very nice and friendly. The only thing I don’t like is that the room window is not openable. This made air is stale.
This was like staying in a hostel. We had our own room and the bathroom was fown the hall. There was a kitchen/ common room upstairs with tv and a small unstocked kitchenette. Beautiful big deck. Right next door is a restaurant if you want to eat close by. The property is beautiful and quiet on a lake with walking trails. I loved it and will be back agian.
Staff was friendly, the lake was right there. Open space, big property, beautiful garden.
Peace and quiet
This is a wonderful place, where I shall go for an extended time in the future. "Far from the maddening crowd", close to nature and welcoming. Not your usual kind of lodging found on this website, I loved it!
Pleasant accommodations near nature
Good place for staying the night and near the lake. Place was a bit older but room was clean and staff when greeted at main building was friendly.
Cute comfy place. Doesn’t feel like you’re in the city. Lake trail was quite nice and the staff were very friendly.
Not a good option
I was assigned a room in basement. It is risky if you want to use share bathroom
Friendly welcome, nice cabin style rooms and spacious area
I didnt realise the rooms did not have their own bathrooms. My fault, but in this time where there is a pandemic and the need for social distancing is paramount it made me uneasy. . Bed was hard. Room spartan in the extreme. No extra pillows available. On the bright side it was very quiet.
The lakeside property is naturally beautiful. With other guests doing spiritual retreats, the peaceful ambiance is a welcome contrast to standard traveller accommodations.
Clean, basic accommodation. Not fancy but the location was good. Nice walk around the lake.
I was pleased with everything...Deborah was so pleasant and accommodating. The Centre grounds were peaceful and quiet at night. Bunnies, birds and deer added to the ambiance.
Very clean, very quiet, great setting; plus the price was very affordable.
Great stay!
Lovely property. Comfortable and restful.
Recommend!
Had a great time at Bethlehem. There’s a beach a five-minute walk away, and a 6km walk around the lake. The staff were super genuine and helpful. There are common areas with balconies, TVs, microwaves, and fridges. We also enjoyed the labyrinth. Check out the farm stand by the parking lot and the fancy bistro next door. Oh yeah, the beds were super comfy too.
It was a great vacation spot to relax and enjoy..
Quiet place with a lake park trail behind. Staff helpful.
Nice, quiet, clean property. I passer 3 days there. I ENJOYED the calmer place. Very nice for someone looking for aplace to recovery or just to take a quiet time
Rather spartan...communal toilets and showers. Very clean and quiet. No extras in room, not even a clock.
super quiet and cozy place for a nice stay. Very accommodating staff
Quite and peaceful
Rooms are small and dated but the beds were comfy and location is great!! Over all I would recommend this to anyone that wants a quite getaway while still close to the city.
Beautiful place to relax and get outside and away from everything. One of the best sleeps I've had in a long time, very quiet at night :-)
Nice by the lake.Quiet and relaxing.
Ita okay but my issue is using shared bathrooms. Might be good for aome amd uncomfortabke for those who need more personal space
I loved how peaceful it was, the proximity to the trail around the lake and the labyrinth.
