The hotel was in a convenient location for us and very close to all the dining options in 17 Ave. Historic Lougheed House is also very close by. The complimentary breakfast was good but a little repetitive if you are staying more than a week, with the main components only rotated every second day. The room was very comfortable and spacious, and cleaned well. Would stay again.

The breakfast was great, it was quiet both nights. The carpet looked rough with spots all over it and the sower curtain was so flimsy and clingy I couldn't really ever shut it fully and water went everywhere. Reception was great and room service was nice. Couldn't use the sauna as it was a mess. Overall, it was fine.

Very noisy and not a lot of parking if you have a vehicle larger than a sedan. Nice room though. Breakfast included was nice.

The team working here is very helpful and kind. Anything I needed help with, they stepped up and had solutions. The suite I stayed in was huge - felt like home.

Just a stop over or a few nights. Had a few problems finding the Ave after getting of the shuttle bus a few blocks away. Big room, plenty of space and great shower. I understand it is getting refurbished soon so all good, as a bit dated at the moment. Breakfast included is not comprehensive but suffice.

I found that the showers were decrepit, old and out of style. The shower head was decomposing and the water pressure insufficient. The rest made up for it. Good breakfast and good service

I was lucky to be on a renovated floor; the carpet in the hallways of some others was in very bad shape. It was an ok stay, the only complaint I have is the air conditioning was a little rattly.

Dirty bathroom floor

The first room they gave us had a strong smell of cleaning products. Upon telling the receptionist, she assigned us another room right away and came with us to the second room to ensure we were satisfied with it. The second room was perfect. We only stayed one night and it was a good one with clean and comfy beds.

I liked that it was walkable (quire long but good exercise) from downtown locations such as the Telus Convention Centre and the train and bus station for the airport bus at the Calgary Tower. The free breakfast was great and the attendant was very pleasant and friendly.

A single night arriving late but the room was ready, the bed nice and easy to get an Uber in the morning. Worth the hassle of getting downtown.

Great location for the price!

Noisy location, air would turn off and on all night and blow the curtain up to let in the light from the street. Out dated, bathtub looked a bit dirty It is an okay place to stay, even though it’s more affordable than other hotels it still seems overpriced for the stay there.

Hotel is a short walk from both 7th Avenue and 17th Avenue, so lots of dining options. There is a fair bit of renewal in the downtown area. The morning breakfast is efficient and has plenty of options, hot food too. Overall a good stay, room was great, hotel was friendly.

We stayed for a few nights in a two-bedroom suite. The room was large and had everything we needed. Our only complaint was the noisy air conditioner and poor soundproofing. There were some homeless individuals nearby, but we still felt safe. I think this hotel is a good choice if you want to stay in the downtown area on a budget.

Upon arrival, I was delighted to find that my room was ready and waiting for me, making the transition to my accommodations effortless. The highlight of my visit was definitely the front desk staff. The lady who assisted me was not only pleasant but also genuinely helpful, going above and beyond to ensure that all my needs were met. Her warm demeanor made me feel welcome and valued as a guest. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better start to my stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a stress-free and enjoyable experience!

Our overall experience was very good and we would stay there again. I did find it petty we were charged $21 per day for parking because we booked a package deal through Expedia (flights, car, hotel). They claimed if we booked the room through the Best Western site, we wouldn’t have been charged that and the daily rate of the room was actually lower than Expedia’s. Of course there’s no way to prove it because you can’t know the division of hotel and rental car costs with a package deal. The other downside of this property is the cleaning staff use the same elevators as the guests and the elevators are slow and small. Sometimes we waited 5 minutes for an elevator (usually when breakfast was about to end) and guests are not permitted to use the stairs. The doors are locked on the stairwell side so you can take the stairs up or down but cannot get back into the hallways.

This property should be ashamed to be called a best western. Which use to be a reputable name. This hotel is far beyond the need of a renovation.

Staff is AMAZING. Front desk helped me with several personal issues, printing needs, directions, local info, advice on how to save money and make better booking options for next time. And there will be a next time. Clean! Cleaning staff was very good. High level of attention. Crumpled up receipts that I had dropped under the desked were picked up. They clean everything! Breakfast was an average hotel type breakfast and it is a very busy room, but they keep up. Great food & bev maintenance. Good value place to stay.

The staff at this hotel was very friendly and helpful. The hallway on the floor we were on was quite worn and dated looking. We had a lovely time and would definitely stay there again.

Size and comfort of rooms

This place has a very good balance of price with quality. Its not extravagant but good to stay. If you just want a place to relax and get rest for the next day. Then this is your place. If you are looking for someplace to spend evenings do some work. Then its debatable, but still good enough. One problem was the pillows. They only have one size pillows which was not very helpful for my wife.

The hotel should clean up the front of its property along 8 St. SW, which currently looks derelict or closed. The back entrance and parking area look much better. If I drove by the front of the hotel when deciding on staying at the hotel, I would have found another hotel. The stairways also need work and look unfinished. The service staff were excellent and let us into our room at noon (check on time 4pm). The breakfast could be improved, with real fruit. Breakfast service staff were also very good. The room itself was clean and a nice size, with big windows and a decent view. Cleaning staff for the room were also good.

Very comfortable bed, clean quarters. The hotel itself is in a run-down area of downtown, though a wonderful cafe is across the street. The decor is a little worn and dingy, though I appreciated the paintings. Very helpful staff. It would have been good to have some access to food in the hotel besides breakfast.

Hotel was very good for our purposes, however I found the bed way too hard. The desk staff really cared and tried to fix it but I ended up sleeping on the couch which was softer. Breakfast was ok but the breakfast room was a mess when we went in. I’d try a different hotel next time in honesty.

Excellent staff good value

Nothing special they need to update their hotel as the carpets are smelly, the bathroom is falling apart I mean for real if not for the breakfast then I don’t see anything good also parking has a fee pr night.

Our stay was great. The hotel was pretty quiet, the beds very comfortable, and the kitchen and bath were well-equipped. Breakfast in the morning was delicious (eggs, waffles, apples or bananas, oatmeal, juice & coffee, yogurt option, and crispy bacon!) We were able to get to many tourist locations within less than a 30-minute walk (Stephen Ave walk, Prince's Park, Calgary Tower). There is a grocery store just a block or so away, and some great restaurant options and pubs pretty close by as well.

Review: Best Western Plus Suites, Calgary We recently stayed for one night at the Best Western Plus Suites in Calgary and, unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. Pros: The lobby is welcoming and nicely maintained. The underground parking is a convenient feature. The location is excellent, providing easy access to various attractions. Cons: The room had an unpleasant smell upon arrival. The hotel feels outdated and in need of renovation. The bathroom exhaust fan was not working, leading to poor ventilation. The breakfast offered was quite boring and lacked variety. The bathroom was dirty, which was very off-putting. The shower fixtures felt flimsy and as if they might break at any moment. The refrigerator’s freezer compartment had an excessive buildup of ice. Overall, it seemed like the room had not been properly checked before our arrival, contributing to a messy and unpleasant stay. In summary, while the lobby and parking were positives, the overall condition and cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. It felt like the room had not been adequately prepared for our stay, which significantly impacted our experience.

The lack of a decent breakfast area

Had a short stay at this cheap and cheerful hotel. Friendly staff, great underground parking. The hotel could use a lot of TLC but I did see they were beginning renovations soon. A lift was also out of service which sometimes lead to long wait with luggage. Overall a pleasant stay.

Parking is $21/night and there was never enough parking at night for all guests. Facility was dirty and noisy. Bed uncomfortable. Only perk is the location.

This hotel was fine. Our friends were located on the 15th floor and their room was fairly nice. Our room was on the 5th floor and was in need of repair, cleaning and renovation. Our friends booked through the hotel, I paid way more through Expedia and received a room that was rough. The location is great and the staff are lovely. I wish I would have requested a different room.

It was a family (of 4) vacation for 11 nights. Stayed in a two bedroom suite on the 15th floor and the view of downtown Calgary was amazing. Hotel is pretty quiet and close to virtually all you will need from shopping, restaurants, grocery stores etc....all within walkable distances. Hotel also served free breakfast. My only drawback is that there was only one bathroom/toilet for a two bedroom suite, other than that....our stay was memorable.

We stayed here in a 2 bedroom suite with our kids for two nights. Check in was smooth, parking ($21 a day) was easy and felt safe. Staff was friendly. We stayed on a floor that hadn’t been renovated yet, and while it was a bit outdated (which doesn’t bother us) it was clean and in relatively good shape. The kitchen was adequately equipped for our needs. AC worked really well. Beds were comfortable, and linens were fine. We did have to call down to get linens for the pull out bed, which was kind of a pain after a long day. The mattress on the pullout was also not the greatest, but I’ve slept on worse. One of the high lights was the free breakfast; the choices were great, and we had it both mornings we were there. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and will look at staying here again in future.
