We stayed 1 night. Room was clean and check-in was easy. However, the lighted panel on the airconditioning unit (showing the temperarure in big numbers) was too bright and it lighted up the whole room in the night.

I had an excellent stay at the Best Western Northgate in Nanaimo. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable visit. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience. The location is convenient, close to shopping, dining, and major attractions. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and offered a great variety. I highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding service and value!

Quite convenient, and access to shopping easily

Checked in 1.5 hours early and they charged an early check in fee. The room was ready so don’t see the point. No other hotel has ever charged a fee. Money grab.

There's not much around but it's close to grocery stores which is great. If you're planning to go up island but not too far from the ferries, this would be a great place to stay in. Check in and check out was smooth, they have cable tv (but if you're out most of the day, doesn't really matter). Would recommend.

We were staying for our wedding weekend, and they upgraded our room! It was so lovely. The staff are wonderful. The free breakfast is so convenient and appreciated. Reasonable rooms.

We were on the ground floor. People above the room and the road noise were alot. Prefer if the courtyard was fully enclosed for the dogs

The breakfast was wonderful including eggs and bacon and or sausages, which is a nice change from your average, just cereal and muffins ect..the breakfast room was large, clean and very efficiently run. We took a quick over-night trip to Vancouver Island. This hotel was clean and quiet, with friendly staff and a safe and convenient location.

This is a good property, staff really friendly and helpful, hotel is very clean. It is located on the outskirts of Nanaimo but is near all of the retail parks so plenty accessible. The only thing you could really call out about this is that the decor is a bit dated but this shouldn’t put you off. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with two doubles and a sofa bed. The sofa bed is probably getting to a point where it could do with replacing as springs starting to go but this might just be the one in the room we stayed in and far from really being an issue.

Rooms are very clean, convenient location, friendly and helpful staffs, not many breakfast choices but that’s already enough for us, seatings are not crowded. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel

I can’t remember her name but I saw her nametag and said manager, great sense of hospitality, she gave great advice to visit in the area and was honest about some spots that are overrated. I always appreciate a sincere recommendation!

Fantastic stay for our family

We arrived about two hours early and were informed that we could pay $35 to check in early. I understand if there are no rooms available but if there are rooms, why charge someone already paying a full rate to access a room that’s sitting idle? Our hotel in Victoria happily gave us access a few hours early with no charge, since the room was ready.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. Options were quite limited, especially for hot items. Staff at check in were very friendly and engaging with our toddler.

This property is clean and the beds very comfortable. However, the lighting in the rooms is in dire need of updating ! Also, this is the only Best Western I have ever stayed in that does not have an all day coffee station for guests. I like a coffee in the afternoon and has no option but to leave the property or drink the packaged stuff and fake creamer in my room. And, I am a Best Western Platinum member and was denied a later checkout ( 30 minutes) as the front desk person told me the hotel was full. I checked with a different desk member upon checking out and she assured me it was not full for that day. Not the biggest problems in life, but for the cost I expect better.

We appreciated how helpful the staff is and they really helped us figure out our accommodations while staying on the island for a wedding. The rooms are nice and clean! The free breakfast is wonderful and well stocked. Dane at the front desk helped my husband and my father-in-law with their ties!

Exactly what we needed for a 1 night stop over

We stayed in a king bed suite over the Canada Day weekend. The foyer and rooms seem to have been recently renovated. The room was quiet, even though we overlooked the highway. Housecleaning was still on COVID rules, needing to ask for service, but most amenities were easily available from the front desk. The included breakfast, while relatively standard fare of eggs, bacon, etc., were good and maybe a step above other hotels.

Convenienly located off the highway and a 15 minute drive to downtown Nanaimo, the hotel was comfortable with lots of parking. The Continental breakfast was decent and included a rotation of eggs, sausages, bacon and breads, muffins and bagels. You can make your own waffles as well. The rooms were decent size, we had 2 queen beds. The bathroom was clean and modern. The only improvement is the TV could be bigger but had a good selection of channels. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would go back next time we are in the Nanaimo area.

Worth the trip

This our go to place in Nanaimo, very close to one of the islands largest mall. The hotel is recently reno'd & looks really upbeat, lots of tile work, great color combos. Very friendly staff,more than willing to go the extra yd for their guests. Keep up the good work!!!!
