Great older hotel but did notice that upgrades were happening on the 5th floor. Enjoyed the quietness but also being close by to everything that I wanted.
They were working on fixing the hallways on the floor that they put us on. Hotel a little far from tourist sites
Very nice hotel with public transportation within an easy walking distance. Also had a grocery store close by, which was very convenient for waters and snacks.
Front desk staff are great. Breakfast staff are a bit rude. Hotel room are clean and free drinks and snacks is a plus!
Quiet place, feels safe, rooms was clean, employees are very nice.
We loved out stay, it was very close to the tram, a great supermarket, and am incredible restaurant (Perilli al Flaminio). They had complimentary Italian snacks and drinks in our fridge for free! My only complaint is that we were charged a 60€ tourist tax at the end of our stay, which surprised us. But we loved our stay, the service was excellent and attentive, they let us check in a few hours early, and were willing to hold onto our luggage after our checkout for the day.
Safe and quiet neighborhood.
The staff is very nice.
Clean, quiet, nice, staff was great. Walkable to buses, metro, etc. very nice restaurants around.
Nice hotel near the Vatican
Picked mainly because of proximity to the Vatican. Tram takes you to/from the metro then two stops over. Only a couple of restaurants in the area. Does feel a little on the unsafe side after dark but didn’t have any issues even walking around solo after 9. There is a grocery store in the building for anything you may need. Elevators are tiny and slow fortunately my room was on 1st floor. Air conditioning wasn’t turned on until the last night I was there (April 24-29) front desk lent a small desk fan which did keep adequately cooled at night. Window had roll down shutter that keeps out bugs and light but lets in air, had to leave window open most of the day to keep cool. Has a mini fridge that is pre-stocked with some drinks not sure if you are charged or not. All outlets and lights turn off if the room key isn’t in slot by door.
Loved this hotel…super friendly staff…the ONLY thing I did not like was the bed…super hard!
If you care about your mental health avoid this hotel!!! It is, by far, one of the noisiest places I've ever been to. I was on first floor and my friend stayed on the 5th floor. There is around-the-clock-24/7-non-stop incredible noise; Honking horns, very loud motorcycles, trucks coming and going all day and night to take the garbage, upload or download things, construction works. There was even someone using a leaf blower machine at 23:00. If you're looking to relax or even just sleep normally avoid this hotel at any cost. Even my friend on the 5th floor was being tortured by this terrible loud noise from the outside street. Plus they also did renovations on her floor which added to the noise coming from the outside. Good that I brought ear plugs and some sleeping pills with me. Without them I would go insane. Breakfast was good and the staff were nice and helpfull and it was clean enough.
It was beautiful inside and out, and the staff was friendly. However, the shower was leaking, and the air conditioning was not working until last night. The iron they brought us was broken, and the television's subtitles were in Italian only. When we asked for help, they said they would try, but no change occurred.
Loved the area as it was not in the city center.
The largest bed ever in Europe.
Hotel was alright. Front desk staff was excellent and very helpful! Room was clean, but bed was only comfortable for first night because we were exhausted. Not very comfortable if staying more than one night. Location was very good and close to Tram to the Metro station.
Good
Had a comfortable stay, everything is nice about this place, including good eating places nearby. The down part is- lot of traffic noise from the windows and bathroom had no shower curtain so it was difficult to avoid a splash outside.
Excellent stay.
My stay was excellent. The breakfast was more than outstanding. It was a continental breakfast and they had everything to offer. The reception was excellent in making reservations for transportation by calling a taxi for me.
My experience at the Astrid was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurants around the area were great and affordable. Breakfast at the hotel is good and it was a short walk to the main attractions.
I visited Rome for the first time as a single, middle-aged African-American woman. The hotel staff was polite and helpful. The room was cleaned well each day and snacks and drinks were left in my small refrigerator. A block or two from the hotel is a stop for the tram which dropped me off at the Flaminia Metro stop. I was very happy with the hotel. staff, and location.
We had a great stay! The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. When our train went on strike, the front desk assisted us with booking a shuttle to the port for our cruise ship. The breakfast was €8, and it was perfect, featuring a variety of fresh fruits, baked goods, ham and cheese, cereal, and bacon and eggs. There's a market right next to the hotel, which was very convenient, and trains and buses are located behind the hotel. Newly renovated rooms and white clean linens.
Amazing! Staff and rooms were great!
Very clean !
As an American visiting as a tourist, I was very comfortable in this hotel. The staff spoke English so communication was easy. The room came with snacks that were restocked every day free of charge, including Italian-brand water, juice, Coke, crackers/chips, and cookies. Towels replaced as needed (when put on floor) and beds made every day like any other Best Western, bathroom and shower are familiar to use and cleaned up every day, shampoo was restocked but we had to ask for bars of soap from the desk. Breakfast is completely worth it, especially if you are also a tourist, plenty of food options for the price and one less meal to worry about. There are at least 2 bus stops and a tram stop nearby for public transit. I will caution three things, although your experience may vary: 1. We could not get our HVAC unit working, but cracking the window of our room did the trick to keep us cool and comfortable all night, 2. The walls are thin so you might be able to hear your neighbors, and by opening the window you may hear activity from the street, 3. Italy's taxes are charged during check out and are not included in the price you pay to Expedia, so be prepared for that. It was a nice, modest hotel, and we had a great time in Italy!
Amazing stay! Mattia was wonderful and helpful.
Close to everything but not that close to be an inconvenience, excellent
This hotel was everything we expected it to be. Hotel Astrid was walking distance to everything in Rome including its own grocery store next door. The breakfast is delicious and the staff is so kind and always smiling. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Italy.
We really enjoyed our stay at the BWAstrid. It was a little bit further out than we’ve stayed in Rome before but it really didn’t seem far. We had a small room reserved which was perfect for us as we don’t spend too much time in the room while on vacation. The room was always perfectly cleaned. And the front desk staff assisted us with airport transport both coming and going. The neighborhood was quiet and near the Tiber River. What we really appreciated was the complimentary mini bar items. The free waters were life saving every night/morning. And the little Gelato place a couple doors down had the best lemon gelato ever! We even got to spend St Patrick’s day at an Irish Pub that was a street over. Great bar food. So the neighborhood has a little bit of everything and near public transportation too. Great place to stay!
Our room was clean and cozy. Only gripe is the shower is a bit small. I’m 6’2 220 and felt stuffed in there. That being said, we enjoyed our stay.
Very nice stuff
Cold shower in the morning!
Wonderful stay. Room was super clean. Would stay here again.
Beautiful old building with a boutique hotel feel. Out of the main tourist area so not as busy a neighborhood. Lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby. Excellent light breakfast with a fantastic view.
Overall we had a good time here. The hotel is very nice inside, very clean and pretty upscale looking. It is located on the corner of a semi busy intersection though, so the outside traffic noise is a bit much, even at night. The building walls are older, so not that sound proof at all sadly. If you are a light sleeper like me, definitely request an upper floor! Once we switched rooms higher it was great! The hotel has a great breakfast for the price per person, definitely cheaper than most nearby places. One issue is the distance from central Rome, it's a bit far. You can make the walk fine if you are younger, otherwise i say take the tram, there is a stop down the road behind the hotel, luckily. It's just under 2 euro (at the time of writing this) each use. You can just charge your card to use it. You'll be whisked down the road/track to the Piazza Del Popolo. Lastly, the taxes Expedia says you'll be charged, are way less than what they do charge. For our several nights Expedia said like $32 but they charged €144, because of a ridiculous €6 per person, per night!! That should just be included in the room fee! Not cool, i personally don't like getting hornswaggled like that on check out.
Good hotel
Best location, best price, amazing Gianmarco receptionist he was very welcoming making my experience perfect! The view from the restaurant was very pleasant! I do recommend only thing is bathroom it’s not for everyone, but I didn’t care at all! The pace was sooo quiet I sleep like a baby I even play white noise cuz it was so silent!
Air conditioning didn’t work. Refrigerator went three days unrefilled after I spoke to them twice to get resolved. No snacks, per their own guidelines in their book in room. Hot water to shower unavailable most days. Floor was dirty for the first three days before it was swept properly. Rate this hotel a 1 star.
Great location but rooms needs some renovation
Rooms are very clean, staff was very nice. Breakfast on fifth floor was great every morning. Its just noisy in the day and early night with traffic and the constant idiots honking horns, no fault of the hotels though.
I didn't like anything everything that was on website was a lie room was not what l had paid for nobody at hotel spoke English very rude no shuttle service
Room was clean and adequate. While the neighborhood is nice this is hotel is all business. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to recommend it either.
TVnot working
The girl who checked us in was very nice. The old hotel was a nice old building with beautiful staircases and old fashioned elevator. The facilities in the room were old and the drainage etc. was not good. Room was not properly cleaned from the first day we moved in.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The area was walking distance to public transportation and had lots of dining options along the way.
We like the hotel Very much , is very comfortable , great breakfast and optima location The Tram is very close and takes you to Piazza Po ppolo in 10 minutes !
They overcharge me on 1 extra night .
We had an amazing stay here. The staff was so nice & accommodating. Special thanks to the breakfast staff ladies who were so kind & really cared for their patrons.
Amazing location, great service, cool amenities.
We had some issues with the noise from construction, but the staff is amazing and the area has a lot of nice shops and restraunts. The staff truley is amazing, they're very kind and helpful. Do your self a favor if not taking a taxi from the airport and take the bus around the corner from the metro that is located beside the McDonalds, it's bus number 2. It has a stop in front of a small park area that is around the corner from the hotel. There is a main square across from the Mcdonalds near the merto that leads striaght to Spanish Steps district and the Trevi Fountain. The Gallery Borghese museum and park is also right inside the gates to the left up the stairs that offer beautiful city views.
Very clean so that was a plus. However, The property was SO small. For reference the room and general area ALL TOGETHER was the same size as the washroom. The bed was tiny I felt like I was falling mid sleep if I turned. Honestly wouldnkotnfome here again BC of that and also the noise levels were high throughout the night and early mornings. I did not get a restful night of sleep for the 6 nights I spent here.
It is a 15 min walk to the metro but a very safe and direct route. A grocery store on the ground floor was nice to pick up snacks and beverages that are not offered in the mini bar. The interior has been restored and the rooms are nice and modern.
Overall a very pleasant stay. However, I was never informed that breakfast was available. Nor the hours or fees.
The neighborhood makes this a wonderful place to stay!
Decent hotel off the center and from sights. Room was nice clean and with fridge. Staff are very helpful.
Close to restaurants and convenient store and pharmacy.
Todo muy bien, limpio y la comida rica. Sin embargo la refrigeradora mini bar que tenía no servía y hasta el tercer día me la arreglaron. Y un día no me hicieron Limpieza cuando lo solicité. Pero por lo demás muy bueno
Lovely
Customer service could have been better. Could not make tv work.
Everything was excellent at the Best Western hotel in Astrid from the front desk staff to the cleaning staff and also a big shout out to the breakfast staff. And I am not just saying this. Thanks so much.
Very nice team! Good breakfast!
This hotel is cute and comfortable in terms of cleanliness and amenities, but know that the building is old and walls are thin so noise can be a problem. Friendly staff and reasonable rates!
Its ok for an overnight stay. Will avoid it in the future. Front staff can be a mixed bag. Some friendly, some not so. Didnt have hot water for 2 days
A decent hotel situated in a good location for the stadium and auditorium, but it was dated inside, with air con not working and a strong smell of stagnant water in the room. Breakfast was nice and the breakfast room has a great view over the river to Rome. The staff were all very pleasant.
Staff was really friendly
Recommended
Excellent value, clean, good breakfast, lovely view, good location
The hotel is located a bit outside of the city. While I didn't mind taking the bus into the main attractions, it's definitely something you should consider prior to booking. I booked a single room, while small, it was efficient and met all of my needs. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but were attentive when I asked them to call me taxis.
Everything thing was good
Beautiful hotel. Staff was excellent. Poor air conditioning.
You get what you pay for
The building itself is very beautiful. However the floor is raised just at the corridor / entry area inside the room, not sure why it is there, but it means we need to lift up the luggage’s when enter, and step up every time we go to toilet. Not an issue with me (30 yro plus), but my mum (60 plus yro) did not quite like it. Our window was facing the street, viewing is nice, but one Thursday night it was so noisy outside, it kept waking me up. Hotel is not in the city centre so wasn’t sure what was the noises for. Room is quite small, which is common in Europe, bed was comfortable. There is a little supermarket downstairs which is super convenient. In term of location, in order to get to Colosseum, you need to take bus no.2 to popolo, then take the metro A, then metro B. On my day to colosseum, both metro A and B were delayed, and we panicked as we can’t get a taxi either, no one answers the taxi app. Lucky we set off earlier and made it to the tour. For people not familiar with Rome, maybe stay near the colosseum is better. For me I am happy to come back to the hotel again without my mum, I really liked the popolo area.
There were numerous restraints in the area. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good.
Liezel was absolutely wonderful. She kept the place clean, and made sure the breakfast food was always ready and fully stocked. Helped with directions and providing me with ice when the ice machine was broke. (IT HAS BEEN FOR 2 YEARS). Our room was small and noisy from the cars on the street, but very clean.
Shower was awful leaked everywhere. Bed comfy. Nice linens. Staff kept our bags … super helpful. Had one issue with kitchen staff upset when I had spilled coffee … I had use the machine incorrectly. I was fine to clean it up myself no problem. But she was upset and I felt bad. So that experience wasn’t great.
Location not bad but noisy surroundings. Their Breakfast is excellent with good selections. Staff very courteous and knowledgeable. Able to converse in English and Italian language. Love the staff responsible for their breakfast. Not sure why their washroom vent is built in with the light it creates too much noise. Otherwise it’s a safe place.
The Staff was very nice and the property was very clean and the breakfast was good lots of choices.
This hotel was located in a good location - Very convenient to all of our excursions. The Front Desk staff was very kind and helpful. Would defiantly recommend to anyone looking for a reasonable hotel in Rome.
Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Nice bedding and towels. Quite area 20 minutes to historic site of Rome by walk.Nice breakfast for additional 8 euros per person… But internet is very slow and weak… TV is most local channels… almost none in English and no basic international channels…. Not supportive services from reception… booking taxi in the morning was not helpful at all… I wish they would be more friendly and helpful…especially with foreign tourists who don’t speak Italian…
AC did not work for the first 3 nights of our stay. We asked for a room with working AC and were told no rooms had AC. The hotel site said there was airport shuttle service yet when we asked we were told they did not provide shuttle services.
Noisy but at least clean
The service was great and cleanliness was ok. The things that bothered us was the noise generated from the street. Its quite the busy road outside and the Italians are honking like crazy. With some earbuds it was tolerable and you get used to it.. Could be that the noise is to be expected from an house this old (original windows and doors) and this is normal? At least not normal in Scandinavia..
Great service and phenomenal food choices around the neighborhood
Clean, air conditioning was great
Room was cold, no sound barrier between rooms, neighbour was noisy and snored throughout the night.
The staff was super helpful amd friendly. It was close to walk to most of the areas sites to see. Very clean and quiet. We loved it.
Staff were not friendly to us and rooms are so close together with no soundproof so we could hear everyone talking. Room beside us thought it was us who were taking so front desk called and woke us up in the middle of the night saying we had a noise complaint despite us being asleep. We checked out last night and explained to the worker he woke us up and he was very rude. Overall wouldn’t recommend to others.
If you are a person of large stature you won’t be able to take a shower here. There’s only about 12” clearance for the opening of the shower. Moving around to actually wash yourself will be a challenge even if you manage to shimmy in. The room is equally small and bed only average. The TV does not work. The only good things about this place are breakfast on a sweating HOT terrace, an air conditioned tiny bedroom and quiet. This hotel is near NOTHING so you’ll need to navigate everywhere at additional cost. The front desk could not be bothered to help with anything besides charging city tax. But service? Ha! Go elsewhere besides this over-priced dump.
Paper thin walls meant I could hear everything in the adjoining room. Not great.. Noisy. Traffic outside due to a sports stadium closing at midnight. Paper cups for tea coffee in room and no milk..
Nice place
Property location was quiet. Close transit was available to main attractions. Very nice breakfast was available for a reasonable price.
It was okay.
I really wanted to give this hotel a 5 star review but I must be honest in providing my feedback. I was unable to control the air conditioning so my room was very cold and I only had a very thin sheet like blanket to use at night. The mattress and pillows were way too firm. Breakfast was not the best but I appreciated it being included for free! The hotel location also is not the best. Very far from the center of Rome unfortunately.
The reception man was very rude and unapproachable, he asked for the passports and I handed these and he threw them at the counter. The room was next to the elevator and doors slam loud.. kept waking up during the night. Very dirty restroom, yellow lines everywhere in the restroom and an awful smell all over the room. We chose this place to be close to Borghese but it was a big mistake. Terrible, terrible l.
Very comfortable place to stay. Away from all of the business, just a quick 10 minute cab to where all the action is. This Place is very nice and the staff are very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
A very clean place to stay, had easy access to transportation links. The free minibar was great. The housekeeping was abit keen and started really early. Overall a comfortable stay for a really hot August!! Just bear in mind that the room tax is €6 per person per night which worked out pretty expensive compared to other hotels in Italy!!
I made a reservation for 2 Superior rooms, but they gave me 1 standard room and 1 Superior No room cleaning for my stay We had to use same towels Very rude and unprofessional staff I have to get credit back for one room
Excellent room, very relaxing stay
Hotel was very hot, AC was weak throughout entire property. The breakfast was like a sauna on the 5th floor. Nothing in the area to eat and very limited dining options. Only thing that helpep was grocery store was right there
The room was clean, staff was very helpful . We enjoyed staying at this hotel, soon we will book it agaib
The staff were very friendly and helpful! The room was nice and clean

Our room wasn’t supposed to be ready until 2pm, but my husband wasn’t feeling well and they got us in the room by noon. The front desk personnel were very friendly and kind. They got us a taxi to take us to the Vatican and also helped us with transportation to the airport. The hotel was spotless and our room very comfortable and clean.
