Great!
Clean property
Great little place to stay, will be my go-to in Santa Cruz from now on. Check in was easy, friendly and very helpful staff! Great room at a great price for this area!
It was a nice stay for the price. Walls are very thin and not sure comforter ever gets washed between guests. (Gross)
One night stay
Great location, small but nice and modern. Beds were stiff though.
It was a bed to sleep I
Nothing else
The fluorescent lighting in the rooms is very unpleasant. There should also be a desk lamp. The limited parking is a problem as well.
Nice property. Not much for pubs in area. I would stay here again Great authentic mexican restaurant across the st. Quixote . Highly reccomend
Good utility stay.
Rooms are very small but location was convenient to many restaurants & bars & shopping. Bed was comfy, parking is limited but we stayed for three nights and only had to park offsite on street one night. Overall was good for weekend getaway with my daughter
Nice modern clean affordable hotel in a great area.
Hotel room was clean, but walls seemed thin because we could hear the every room surrounding us even from room above, getting sleep without being woken up my the room above and next door was impossible
Goooood
The place was very nice. I stayed there for 4 days and no problems. I had a safe and calm stay
Parking is bad but other than that it was great
I was very pleasantly surprised by the property and room. Room was clean and looked newly renovated — except for the shower head could be replaced. Probably the most comfortable bed pillows I’ve ever slept on in my life, and I am very picky. Didn’t hear other rooms or people very much. Lots of food options nearby from all the fast food to cute local sit down places. Only real downside was the noise from El Cajon Blvd was quite a lot even at night, but turning the A/C unit to fan only overnight helped drown out a lot of the sound, but couldn’t really sleep in too long or take an afternoon nap. Overall, would absolutely stay again.
Average, but overpriced.
Family trip
Clean and comfortable.
Had a good stay. Very reasonable prices for rooms. The location is very convienent to various areas around the city. Not much interwction from the staff but they seemed ok. The rooms werew nicely decorated and clean.
It’s OK if you’re just looking for a place to stay the night, it was clean. It’s a motel, not a hotel.
Attention here
Big problenm No parking only for 6 cars,in the post say wiht kitchen is not true, the floor in the roon is not clean,
Very little parking available, had to park almost a block away in residential area. Lady asked "how many with you, just me..then why did you book a room with 2 beds. I told her it was the only option available, she quickly spews ....no visitors" Calm down Lady. I paid $355 for one night, I'll have a party in there if i choose. Later when I left to get some food a tall slender mam standing on the steps was watching me like a hawk, im assuming it was her husband.
Bed was hard and the curtains let so much light in the neighbors play there tv so loud all night bath tub stopper wouldn't shut so had to rig it so we could take a bath
It’s a gem of a hotel in North Park….much better than most. Clean and updated. Only negative is the tight on-site parking available.
Good
The property was clean and well kept. The person at the front desk lacked customer service skills. I was looking for coffee in the morning and he couldn’t help me at all! Other than that it was a pleasurable stay. Housekeeping Staff was very helpful.
everything is good but a few things parking is a hit or miss, you’ll be able to park your vehicle at the motel if you get lucky. staff can be stingy at times. other than that, I’ve been here 3 times and never had issues with the rooms I’ve stayed in so far.
Very nice and convient location, very quiet and comfortable. Check in was quick.
Small hotel with freash, neat rooms. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. Parking is limited and the spaces are narrow.
Very clean and modern. Small rooms but very surprising!! Loved it!! ❤️
I felt safe walking to my son's house 3 blocks away. Close to restaurants and parks.
Not enough parking, had to park a block over
Stayed one night for a concert at The Observatory North Park, which is about a 20 minute walk away. Great place for a short stay. Room was clean, bed comfy, coffee maker in the room, reasonable price. All I needed!
I liked the price for the room. The hotel is small but the rooms are spacious. Just an FYI, there's no microwave in the room, but there is a mini fridge. The TV is small but there is a good selection of channels. I think the best part of this hotel is the location. It is close to the airport, the zoo and the harbor. I didn't have to spend a lot of time on the freeway nor did I have to be waiting at the long stop lights that is typical of SD. There are quite a few places to eat and drink that are within walking distance. As for the room, it looks like it was recently remodeled. The king bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows. The towels are a bit rough and worn looking. The area, although it is near everything, is quite noisy starting at around 5a.m. Other than that, I really liked this place.
It was conveniently located for my needs
The staff was very nice and room was very clean. Only stayed one night but will definitely keep it in mind for future trips.
Nice clean room
The location is great and the rooms are kept very clean.
As expected
The hotel was centrally located to where I needed to be and it provided comfort at a reasonable cost. My on only issue is that the hotel only offers 6 parking spots. We got lucky and scored a spot but otherwise that would have been very inconvenient.
It is located near the Observatory and other areas of entertainment.
Parking is rough, but we knew that - if no parking, spaces available blocks away. There is a light in the shower, but no switch. Couldn't figure out how to turn light on - had to shower in dark.
We got complimentary updates. It was a bungalow and we liked it!
I could hear the neighbors in the other rooms during the night, talking, snoring. The room needed a place to sit.
Definitely a pleasant stay for what it was. My room was super clean and comfortable. Just make sure you bring ear plugs! Noise from the street was very audible all night.
The person at the front desk went out of their way to help us find parking. That was really nice of them.
Not very impressed
I was in a room that had two windows that faced a wall approximately 12 inches away from the window. It felt like a cell. The room had not been dusted for a long time. There were no directions for the heating and air conditioning or the TV. There was an ice bucket but no ice machine. I finally found out that the ice machine was a whole building away.
Just a quick overnight stay.
I have stayed here many times and found the location and service good. Parking is tricky because they don't have much.
Very clean, convenient and inexpensive
Great value for the money. Clean room. Safe location. Very close to Denny's and other restaurants. Few reserved parking spots, but on-street parking on street-lighted busy street next door worked fine. My room was on the corner of building with lots of street noise which might have bothered light sleepers.
it was clean
There's a fridge
There is limited parking, which they warn you about ahead of arrival. The street parking was filled up quickly. The neighborhood was very nice and clean. So many people walking around dueing the day showing that the neighborhood is nice and felt safe. Very close to the strip of bars on el cajon blvd. Very clean. Theres a fridge. The nicest motel we have ever stayed at. Felt cleaner than an hotel we have ever stayed at. The bleach smell was VERY strong though. But if thats the only negative, i consider that a win!!
Comfy
It was great, very comfy and the area was peaceful. The only thing the room was missing is a microwave. But overall 10/10.
We had stained pillow sheets and towels, as well as finger nails on the floor. I really wanted to like this place :(
Second time here
This is the second time I have stayed at the Berkshire motel. Everything about it is old but it’s clean uncomfortable. The person who checked me in was so nice and even helped me with my heavy suitcase up the stairs. I would recommend this place.
Nice place near restaurants and bars
Older style place but seemed recently renovated. Clean place near a lot of restaurants. Parking is very limited but was not an issue for us. We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again.
Perfect, walking distance accommodations if attending a concert at the Observatory. Well maintained property and clean rooms! I’ll be back :)
Nice basic hotel- very comfy beds and very clean! Was convenient to area we needed to be. If don’t get there early and grab one of the six parking spots, finding street parking can be challenging in street cleaning days.
Customer service very rude
Room was adequate
They charged me $308 and refused to check me in by saying there was no payment paid when I had the receipt to prove, Lisa at the front desk didn't take a look at what I wanted to show her. Worse thing is that she said they didn't charge me but I never told her my booking confirmation number or did I give her my name
Recommended!
Helpful reception, very clean room and a good size. Also has a work desk and plenty of power outlets
Clean room, hot shower, daily housekeeping service, nice area and easy commute to activities. Stay here.
Small but clean and functional. Good location to get trolly to downtown and Balboa Park.
Would stay again. Very nice staff
decent service, the night I booked there was a meth head outside the property, thankfully the staff was able to help and get them outta there, also be aware that the parking lot is limited. overall i had a decent experience and the motel is quite nice inside. will be returning back someday.
I didn't stay something came up at the last minute but lm sure it is a good hotel lve passed by there many times on the bus an the area is nice an good eating places near by l will try to stay there this weekend if l can keep safe everyone an enjoy the new yr.
Stayed here twice. Great place
Really clean property. Rooms have been remodeled. Nice stay
Great service
It was clean and well kept.
no parking space, and you can hear the foot steps from the room on top
Thoughtful
Really appreciated the advance email describing available parking.
Didn't like the construction nearby.
Clean. Simple. Pet-free. Great for me as I have pet allergies.
Great experience. Would recommend. Will stay again
The property and rooms are very clean and well maintained. The staff is responsive and polite. My only complaint is that there is limited parking, and the area around the hotel is packed with cars. It took me 20 minutes to find a space about half a mile away on a busy street. I guess that’s the price of affordability.
Great rooms and spacious
Hotel is charming. I think the bed was a plywood board with a sheet and blanket. No, bed bugs thankfully tho. Front desk young man was adorable
The room was nice and clean, but there was no where to park within 3 blocks
The rooms are very nice, but the staff is very rude. No courtesy for having guests in your room. Seems like a family owned business but they should be more comfortable with people having guests in their rooms. Instead of turning them away and saying they do not allow any guests in the hotel. Had good food within walking distance though.
Clean and convenient!
Easy check in/check out. Parking is a bit difficult to find but other than that, exactly what we needed
The Motel was clean and well maintained, staff was very friendly, parking was somewhat limited.
Really affordable for the location. Definitely would stay again.
Liked everything. Clean, modest, pleasant.
Its the lighting
Everything here is good except limited on site parking and insufficient desk lamp lighting to work at desk.
Berkshire has always been a nice, affordable option in the neighborhood. Clean, convenient, with a friendly managerial staff.
Room was clean. Staff could be more friendly
Nice and tidy. Didn't have enough parking spaces but will def go again.
Always book this hotel when visiting North Park. It is clean and the staff is friendly.
I will stay at this hotel when I go back to San Diego, the man who checked us in was very nice, the property was clean.
Near north park downtown
This is a very nice boutique type property. Clean and nice. They do not have much property so you may have to ark on the street. FYI Expedia charged me and the hotel insisted on charging me so I paid for my room two times.
Small little hotel
Great place, close to lots of places. Clean room, alittle small but had everything you need. Evening was quiet. Bed wasn’t the most comfortable but that’s not too much of a big deal.
Would stay here again
We will be back
Our 4th time staying here. Clean, comfortable and convenient location
Very noisy, limited parking
The room interior was fine - clean and otherwise unremarkable. The traffic noise was horrible. The walls and windows are super thin. I've never heard so many sirens in my entire life (there's a hospital just down the road). Plus heavy truck traffic, buses, hoons, and a car mechanic across the road that makes a racket from about 8 AM to dusk. Parking is challenging - there's only six spots on-property which are almost always taken, and otherwise you have to find street parking. This area is full of high-density apartments that also rely on street parking, so at times I had to park multiple blocks away. There's also street sweeping for some reason, so street parking is extra difficult on certain nights.
The hotel does not have enough parking for it's guests. Thus, I had to park on the street. Coming in at about 9:30pm, this meant I had to park about 1/4 mile away from the hotel. AND, the parking spot had a sign that said "Street sweeping from 7am-10am", so I had to get up at 6:15am and find another parking spot....this one turned out to be 1/2 mile away from the hotel. Not fun. A hotel should have enough parking spots for it's guests. Especially at this price.
Nice stay. Very attentive service.
