The unit was spacious and clean, and it was handy to everything. Lots of places to eat within walking distance.

Being pet friendly made our stay in Dunedin so pleasant. The hosts were so obliging and helpful. Will definately be staying again.

We phoned ahead as were going to arrive late. Had heater turned on for us and offered milk for the fridge. Were no issues. Tidy, clean, comfortable and warm. Just what we needed.

Super comfy beds, smart tv so was able to use netflix so great for my children. Gorgeous wee meet and greet dog

Dunedin Trip

Amazing hosts along with their cute wee dog Mac. The motel is in a good location to walk into town or to the botanic gardens. The room had everything we needed and was really clean.

Was Ok. Average for price paid.

Not much to like really. Very small with limited space for luggage. Two people unable to pass at end of bed. No hair dryer. Over last 2 years have stayed at many motels throughout NZ. Bella Vista one of the most expensive and most disappointing. No more Bella Vista's for us!

Tired decor - needs an update to modern fittings. Bed was comfortable, and heating was fine.

Nice Place to spend in Dunedin

Room was tidy and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is very close to park, and the botanical garden. Experienced a not pleasant moment at night when it was very hot, no air circulation. So I had to open the door and windows. However there were some people smoking and the smoke went inside the room. There were children inside, so I had to close the doors. Must restrict smoking in the hotel area!

Pleasant accomadation- near the Uni-

This Motel has recently changed owners. The new owners are very friendly, pleasant and very obliging and having lived locally for many years and know all about Dunedin and its surrounding area. They are keeping the maintenance and cleaning standards high which is great to see. We just stayed 1 night and while our room was quite small it had all that we required plus more and the most important thing, a comfortable bed, so a good sleep was obtained and the curtains kept the driveway and street light out.

Hotel close to town

We have stayed here everytime we have come to Dunedin. The first time was excellent, the second time was a little bit of a let down due to a leak but I still believed that this would be ok. We stayed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I didn't expect a full service on Christmas Day but I did think that the towels and coffee etc would be replaced and the rubbish removed...barely a 5 min job but absolutely nothing was done so we couldn't have a hot drink Christmas night. We tried to get something at 9.15pm and and no one was available and lights were off even though I was informed the next day he was there. He apologised but to be honest at the cost of the nights we were there...I expect more! we will be looking for alternative arrangements in Dunedin from there on as an apology didn't really cut it! We have paid over $500 for 3 nights and we have been disappointed!

Dog friendly Motel close to University area

Doge were welcomed and had a great stay - so convenient for fast food, dog walks, and shopping

Old & Cramped

Old, cramped & tired looking venue. Needs revitalized, very small rooms, with small every thing except the price to stay there. I have travel & stayed in almost every Bella Vista in NZ & would rate this Dunedin one as no value. Noisy road, Noisy staff, no privacy!

Noise

Fine motel and only about 15 minutes walk from the centre of town. however the noise created by people in the area went on all night . Apart from fast food outlet I couldn't see why this would happen and suspect that with the University nearby there was a lot of student accommodation which might the source of all night yelling .

Easy walk to centre of town

We spent a couple of nights here to give us an opportunity to see around Dunedin. Conveniently located on the North of the city one street away from the main Highway 1.

Hotel was nice, on a one way street but close to the botanic gardens. Parking was tight, especially when arriving late. Staff was pleasant.

Bad start as Expedia had address wrong - should have been : Great King Street NORTH. Otherwise good value hotel though location a bit run-down

Very close to town and shops

A very pleasant stay - had a late check in due to car troubles, but John was so helpful and accommodating (he even turned the heating on so our room was lovely and toasty when we arrived). Room was small but very tidy and clean, and excellent tea/coffee and bathroom facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very close to town and within easy walking distance of numerous places to eat. Parking spaces were a little tight, but never had a problem finding a space.

From checking in staff were more than accommodating to our needs, offered to book things for us to do, and assisted us with directions. The room was very clean and comfortable.

ok hotel but in the middle of student housing

in the middle of student housing and earplugs supplied set the tone! backs onto KFC drive through. Unit comfortable but location a bit noisy

We were very disappointed with our motel unit. Half the light bulbs did not work and when I sat on the toilet the lid fell against me. My husband had to hold it up with his hand at the same time. There was only one bedside light. We felt that it was not worth $170.00 for the night.

Great Location

I found the service friendly and helpful. The location was great and it was a short walk to the Botanical gardens which were worth the visit. The room was comfortable and very clean with everything that was needed, great wifi. Thank you.

Proximity good.

Small rooms. The heating fan is noisy. Good Sky channel selection. Ambient lighting at night was a bit intrusive. Good location to the university if that's what you need.

Very handy location

Lovely staff and everything well cared for, but room very small to relax in for two of you. Also was disappointed with only 1 coffee mug, there were tea cups though.

Great Location

Enjoyed stay, but room was altitude cold when first arriving, took along time to warm up, heater needs on before arrive. Other than than room very clean and comfortable, staff very helpful and enjoy night there.

Apartment was comfy but beds were hard and blinds didn't shut properly so it was light all night from the street lights. Location was very central to everything.

Disappointing

A bit cool at this time of year with a lot of condensation. The electric blankets were good. Quite noisey early morning traffic. KFC smell is a bit annoying. Considering the price, the experience didn't measure up.

Helpful Staff

I was trvaelling with work and inadvertenly left my iPad behind in my room. I was contacted the same day to let me know that I had left this behind and, as I had already departed town, the staff kindly arranged for my iPad to be returned to my home city. Thanks for the great service.

Dunedin stopover

This motel was ideally situated for our stay with young grandchildren. It was close to the Dunedin museum and the Botanical Gardens and lots of fast food places (if that's what you want). Also close to the University. The rooms were very clean and although not luxurious were quite OK for what we wanted.

Convenient location, small rooms

The double room was extremely small but reasonably comfortable. There is no double glazing so in the morning there are huge amounts of condensation pouring off all the windows and glass doors - we're in the 21st century so why should one sleep in damp commissions while paying fairly steep rates?

Room was small, making it difficult to open up two cases. It was clean an acceptable for a one night stay, but minimalist.

Great cozy place, close in town, but too close to College, and had to go around many broken beer bottles, when walking to dine

Went to watch the cricket so it was just to stay overnight. But hotel was handy to town and Forsyth Barr stadium. Will recommend this hotel.

Dunedin visit

Spent a single Friday night in Dunedin on the way back to Christchurch. Despite being on a main road and with several nearby fast food outlets motel was surprising quiet. A convenient location for getting into the centre of town. Same good standard as other Bella Vista motels in the chain.

Good Stay

A good stay in a noisy part of Dunedin, being the student area, but this did not detract from an enjoyable one night stay. Close to the rugby stadium and handy to a choice of food outlets. Ideally located close to the motorway.

Noisy party in next building til circa 1am

Noisy party next building left til circa 1am or more.... I noted the hotel supply ear plugs in the room. Not a good sign.

Motel not too far from Dunedin City Central

Room was so small, with kitchen utensils but no kitchen sink, no microwave.the fridge motor was so noisy at night. On day of check out , I went out for breakfast and came back before 10am, which is the check out time, arrived to find my stuff had been cleared out and my fruit and other food and snacks I had were already binned and housekeepers already clearing the room. So they started well before my check out time. Very disappointed. The room was not good value for money
