Was good for a short stay
Have stayed here before so decided to stay again and have no complaints
Good value for your money. Clean and quiet after 1000 pm. We walked to the downtown area and saved on parking. 30 minute walk.
Excellent location and room. Very, clean and safe. Comfortable bed. Only negatives are that it didn't have a microwave and a smart tv that you could stream from. This was promised. Will return to this accommodation.
👎
It was great for two 70 people to stay the night in a self-contained room. Thank you.
Good spot!
Pretty good
It’s reasonable, we were staying in the area with the shared bathroom. It’s reasonably clean.
Had a great stay everything was excellent
It is very convenient, great having the pub so cl ose. Very clean and comfortable at reasonable pricr.
Ok
Good points, central, clean sheets thankfully and daily towels. Low points- bloodstained curtains that staff tried to convince us was coffee.. No dedicated Parking, shared with busy, noisy pub on premisis. Expected to fill jug and clean cup, glasses in bathroom sink. Lots of light at night..
It's what you pay for.
Was very handy as our work function was at the bealey
Our studio room had hair dryer, iron, coffee, milk, everything we needed and room service from the bar restaurant was yummy and quick. The bed was comfortable and everything clean.
.
Short stay near Christchurch centre.
Well appointed accomodation although felt a little cramped. Nice touches having crockery and cutlery in room as well as fridge and microwave. Parking as well as bar and restaurant on site.
The unit was very clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It was good having a restaurant there where we could order our meal through room service. Just a shame with parking. Only minimal parking at the Studios, but was able to get parking in another area of the complex. Would go back again.
.
The hotel room was lovely & clean
Good value.
Parking is a nightmare.
Great meals at restaurant, and bar, very central to city.
The room was very nice. All you need for 1 night. The dinner at the restaurant was very yummy.
Nice having an on site bar and restaurant
it was a good stop, nothing excellent but clean and friendly staff. Parking can be an issue
I love it will got back one day
Having the restaurant right there was great and the food was lovely. Rooms are spacious we really enjoyed our stay.
Nice place to stay staff very friendly and obliging with a room change request
👍
We arrived early at 830am and were happy to leave our luggage at reception until 2 pm check in. The lovely man at checkin said he could find a room that was already ready and we were able to go to our room straight away. Appreciated that immensely as we had nowhere to go apart from shopping. Thank you.
Like, Convenience Do not like,no central heating. Not enough blankets. Should have central heating considering the weather in Christchurch.
Clean and tidy
Room was clean and had cozy beds. Staff were friendly and very accommodating.
So-so hotel, not great location
Middle of the road hotel, they should mention that certain rooms are in their hostel complex with the accompanying noise. Room was basic with some rough edges. Location isn't great, 20+mins walk into the city proper, and nothing nearby for food apart from the onsite restaurant which was so-so. Continental breakfast is pretty sad and no refreshed without asking when empty.
Lack of guest parking but overall good
Bed to soft to my liking, pillows also not comfortable, like where the property is dinning optional. Which is good
Great friendly service and a fantastic Bar and restaurant next door.
It was fine.
First place to stay on holiday. Was big enough room and tidy with own bathroom. We should have stayed here again on our last night before flight out, as we upgraded (well we thought we did to the studio apartments 12days later) wasnt an upgrade for $50 a night, smaller rooms, no parking, yes was newer but not big, couldn't swing a cat.. Would stay in lodge one again though for price
Wouldn't upgrade
Stay in this upgraded version as 2weeks ago stayed in lodge part with self contained bathroom, thought was going to be a big upgrade for $50 more a night, room was smaller and personally wouldn't upgrade next time, lodge part was fine
Good hotel not far from Christchurch city centre
20 mins walk from Christchurch city centre. Wi-Fi worked well. Room was pretty spacious. Fridge, kettle, etc, included.
A curate's egg of a motel, good in parts
I arrived early so my room wasn't ready and I went to the restaurant for lunch instead. The Canterbury lamb was one of the gluten free options (I am coeliac) and was excellent. The room, however, was rather disappointing on first impressioins. It was a cold day and the room was cold. No heating was on and the bathroom window was wide open. This was impossible to shut at first then I found that one of the window stays was broken, once I re-arranged that the window could be closed. Old-fashioned arrangements in the room were a surprise: no bedside lamps or light switches for room lights by bed, no shelf or anywhere to put soap, shampoo etc in the shower apart from on the floor and no extractor fan. In contrast, the main "living area" looked modern, new and clean. There was a good choice of TV channels and decent WiFi. The whole area was very noisy at night with booming music, loud talking and shouting outside the rooms as well as loud cars/motorcycles roaring along the road. Luckily the music stopped at 11pm but the "people noise" persisted until midnight and then resumed at about 3.30am. It was convenient for my purposes this weekend but I will definitely think twice before staying here again.
Up to date facility
Was within walking distance from the cbd. After unfortunately having some very noisy room neighbours on the first night, which we had to complain, the staff did give us some vouchers for a continental breakfast for the inconvenience it caused. The only thing that was lacking in the room was a towel rail in the bathroom to hang up the towels. And despite us being 3 people we only received two bath towels.
Great place
Location good but lacks character and charm
Good location to walk into Christchurch but we were in upstairs unit that felt quite small and soulless. Hard to get out luggage up the steps. All bit bland and lacking character
Convenient Good Motel
Good location. Pleasant stay. Thank you.
When we arrived, I was asked for photo ID. When I asked why, the young lady at reception told me it was for the security of the property. I am 70 years old and have never been asked for photo ID in any New Zealand hotel or motel – yes in North Korea, Cuba and Vietnam but never in New Zealand. Things got even worse when there was no parking at the motel – I was told to park in the street 100 or so metres from our room. They threatened to tow my car away if I left it in within the motel area. You can’t excuse this lack of parking by saying that I was emailed just prior to arrival to say that there may not be parking – I had already made my booking. Needless to say, the group I was with did not use the restaurant at all for the days we were there because of the above appalling treatment.
Room too hot to sleep!
The property is quite a long walk from the city, but a nice walk. The reception staff are not exactly joyous, a smile or two would help! But the room itself was a huge disappointment! We stayed in the Lodge, which is much like a YHA, with dorm rooms kitchen etc. Although we had a double room with ensuite it was very small and westerly facing, so on lovely sunny day the room heats up like an oven and there is no A//C!!! So we had little sleep during our 2 night stay! Our first night there with our group we stayed in a Studio room, which was much better, so if you have a choice pricewise, that is a better option. I must add that although it was hot in the Lodge room and with my earlier description, it was however quiet!
Property was clean and walkable although a bit removed from the city center. However, due to the variety of accommodation types from backpacker to mid range hotel it was very busy and at times noisy. Rooms facing Bealey Ave also experienced a far bit of road noise as this is a busier road.
This was really meant to be aimed at a younger generation seeking hostel type of accommodation. Expedia should not have included this in a list of hotels I could pick in a package deal including flights. I will never try an Expedia package as I had an issue with the flights and it was a nightmare to get Expedia to resolve it satisfactorily.
35° sun beating in and no way to cool down. Its unacceptable to have no air conditioning. Wouldn't stay again in the summer for this very reason.
Customer service and composure .Highly recoomend the seafood chowder at restaurants Great comfortable bedding
The property was nice and clean, and staff friendly the doors to the rooms are hard to open i am in a wheel chair, and really struggled to get over the lip below the door hold the door open and get in, once i got in.straight away there was a char standing against the wall and there was not enough room between the chair and wall to get through, there was just enough room between the bed and the desk to get through wit my chair, but couldn't go further or enough space to turn my wheelchair around, the rooms are not sound proof and i could here neighbouring guests snoring, talking, taking a pee outside between the office and apartment block i stayed in there is a hand built ramp, this ramp coming from the office first of all is to steep for wheel chairs and wouldn't be approved by a building inspector. secondly between the ramp is a concrete curbe the ramp doesn't flush up to it so there is a ridge, as you you up the steep ramp, then hit the curb it will tip a wheel chair over. i told the worker at the front desk whom told me to go the long way around i told him that management needs to fix that ramp, and he said he would tell them, i don't know wether management has been told or if it is going to be fixed. as i wont be going back, the price was the same as other motels on the same street, and they have better facilities, larger rooms, and you can not here other guests fart.
The kitchen was dirty and too small for the amount of people staying. The bathroom doors swing out and it's an obstacle course getting to the toilet or shower and is a bad design. Also, the water from the shower goes all over the floor due to poor floor design so dangerous, and risk of slipping or getting injured by the doors which permanently stay open.
Bealey quarter is set amongst the hotels part of bealey avenue, and located to the rear of a large restaurant and bar. The staff here are very professional and welcoming, and the general facilities are kept exceptionally clean and tidy. However as a backpacker, i did find some faults. There is absolutely no backpacker vibe here that you would normally find at a hostel, from the sterile dorm rooms and hallways, to the total lack of any type of lounge areas. The closest you will find to a lounge area are formal leather couches in the main entrance and top of the landing of the second floor stairway. Zero relaxation availability outside your room, unless you go outside to the picnic table seating thats observed by all the rooms facing it. It seems the only sense of privacy is in the bathroom. The indoors desperately requires air conditioning, as there is a lot of wooden construction and paneling, it feels like an oven inside during the summer heat. The leather couches provided serve to only intensify the discomfort. Finally, every single bunk bed seems to squeak and squeal from the slightest movement, making it impossible not to wake everyone if you require the bathroom late at night. On top of that, they are extremely wobbly and anyone shifting positions at night will find they create a small earthquake for their bunkmate. 6/10
Nice clean place pretty reasonable price at short notice would stay here again
Easy to book
Good quality budget accommodation
We stayed here for 4 days. Easy distance to the city, supermarket etc. lovely restaurant with excellent staff and delicious food. We will definitely stay here again
spacious
We loved the location close distance to where we had our reunion fantastic venue
Great bar and restaurant. Nice coffee... Nice rooms
Great place to stay if you want to be close to the city, receptionist went the extra mile to help us get a carpark.
Reception was friendly. Limited parking lot.
good stay but parking not great
Have been back a third time really like the staying. Only down side was kept getting chatged fill price for dinner and 1 night didnt get half of what i had paid for
This hotel was very central, but had very limited parking, was very noisy and facilities were basic at best.
The service is very good, from reception and the rooms very clean. Service of the room is perfect. Will recommend to my friends and family
Good location and good place to stay.
First of all thank you for letting us staying in your property. We loved everything about your property. Thank you guys
It was very quiet and warm, parking was good, the reception was very friendly
Helpful people
Everything’s nice.
Absolutely loved staying here! What a perfect accomodation option for what I needed. Will definitely be back.
Staff very helpful wen they were extremely busy
We were put up in a Back Packers area which was not what we were expecting at all - really disappointing. Very little space in the room and we put up with it for two nights. I had booked a STUDIO room. Expedia should look at the accommodation specifics of this place - all is not as it seems with the advertising and photos! Eating area was the only good thing. Parking was a joke.
Nice
It was comfortable & clean if a little cramped. Had a restaurant on site
Staff is friendly, big bathrooms, location is about a 15 minute walk to city center
I was told that my silver status got me a perk but upon checking in when I mentioned about it, the manager refused to accept it and said nothing from Expedia about such perk was mentioned to the accommodation provider. Secondly there was a TV but no remote for the same was provided. So appreciate if the guests were made comfortable by at least saying that they will check with Expedia and get back rather than just blatantly rejecting the silver status perk that Expedia mentioned in their booking.
Great place just a quick stroll away from everything.
Room and parking
Being able to dine and drink on site
Was clean tidy & comfortable. There was a restaurant on site
It was a great place to unwind, the courtyard was so nice to sit out and play cards and soak up the sun!
Staff as always were so hospitable it keeps us going back there when we are in Christchurch and the meals in the restaurant are always great! 10/10 be back soon! :)
The property is fine, but if you are walking or reliant on public transport it's in a bit of a black hole . For a similar price I'd book closer to cbd next time
I think it’s good
Helpful front desk, comfy room
Cons No elevator in studio half of rooms are upstairs Fairly small room and no storage in bath Included Breakfast was ok but not great. IF you have to add it Id order ala carte or take a few blocks walk elsewhere. Pro although it has alot tucked into space, fridge, micro, chair, desk, some wardrobe space. Pro onsite laundry, I didnt use it. Pro Onsite dining and bar. 10 % off chrck for guests Bus stop across street. 25 min walk to CBD. I felt safe walking alone in Christchurch, just be aware of surroundings there are homeless in CBD. #1 Pro front desk was great !!! I messaged a request to remain in my same separate from tour booking so I didnt need to ck in out and store luggage, they arranged!
It was spaceious and it had a restaurant and bar at the property
Close to city centre or airport.
Clean and comfortable
The property has good facilities, clean, safe and is within a 30 minute walking distance from Christchurch centre. This can also be reached by the 44 bus with a stop close by. A kitchen facility gives the option of self catering.
Had room 24 upstairs facing road. Quiet , dark room at night , Walk to sports bar & restaurant. Very accommodating jane & jumbo
On a busy street, our room was noisy. Staff was pleasant, restaurant was good for breakfacst/
Nice facility overall. Nice kitchen and kind staff.

The host was very kind and responsive. The property was very unique and charming. It was very convenient given that we needed a place to stay near the Waitamo caves. It was a great price that included breakfast.
